The worst thing that I’ve done was to get solar. Salesman scammed me, Palmetto returned half the money back. Salesman sold it to me showing a different price. Need service done and have sent numerous emails and texts. I’ll I get is a return email stating a ticket has been generated. I’ve ask them to call me, still waiting, I want this system checked, no response. I can produce old electric bills and compare to newer ones and I don’t I am not realizing any difference. Paid 45k for this system and between paying the loan on it and bills being astronomically high ( not talking about the current rates either, those are gonna blow me out of the water) I do not feel any savings. Biggest regret ever, paying more than before when I should be saving. Every other person I know boasts about having zero or close to zero electricity bills, I get laughed at. Mine before this increase (winter and summer) were $500 to over $700 a month. I do not live in a mansion either. This is crazy! Palmetto wants to ignore me they are gonna hear me now starting with this review
It costs a LOT to install the solar but Palmetto advised we’d be earning credits on our electric bill so we’d make out in the long run. Just the opposite especially when there’s a clause in the contract for Duke Energy which lets them that ALL the kWs left in your account at the end of May each year from your June bill. This year my husband was sick and to get the help I needed we left our house in January, to go live at my daughters so I’d have help caring for him. He passed away and I wasn’t able to return home till July, 2022. I didn’t worry about my electric bill as I paid a minimum amount and with no use I figured I’d have a LARGE credit when I returned home. I didn’t! Now looking back at my bills I noticed in April 2022 I had 1348 kWh, May 2022 another 995 kWs for a total of 2343 kWs credits, the June bill another 819 kWs for a total of 3162 kWs. But on the bill it shows “Reset” Duke took all my credits back! I called them today and asked why. I was told “The guide lines for North Carolina takes All credit back on May 31st each year, and the company that installed my solar should have made sure I knew this.” Palmetto didn’t make sure I knew this, they were to busy making their sales pitch to inform me of any set backs. I’m on a fixed income and I feel like I was used by Palmetto and now Duke Energy twisted the knife.
Please Palmetto update your app. We will like to get more information on the productivity of the panels and frequent updates. I have to wait until the next day to know what my productivity of the previous days was. Yesterday, we had a lot of sun here in Houston and the app is saying only 0.5 KWH was generated. How is that possible? I was going to recommend Palmetto to a couple of my neighbors but I am asking them not touch you guys with a 10 ft pole. I am not saving any money from the installation of the solar panels. I pay $185 a month. I am supposed to generate 1,600 KWH a month to breakeven given my monthly payment. The highest amount of electricity I have generated with the panels is 1,300 KWH. I wish I knew better.
Absolutely the worst experience in my life and it’s still not over
40 panels installed 7 months ago and still not working. Palmetto must be going out of business. They still can’t get a technician out to my home. I have since given up and paying out of pocket to have my system repaired, again I have been making monthly payments on 40 panel system for 6 months and my system has never been active. They have never sent anyone out to repair. And continue to say in a few weeks. Just an awful experience and now I’m paying out thousands to get it corrected myself.
Zero customer service help once panels are installed
The sales team and installation for my solar panels was excellent. My first bill was amazing. The rest were terrible and I have contacted the customer service department and finally after a MONTH got a work order placed. No response from the after installation team. No one answers the phone and the chat team tells me my system is fine. Yes my panels are working properly. My problem is between the inverter and meter. Expect great installation. Service and maintenance is horrible.
Our last 3 electric bills are over 70 dollars with the panels It’s ridiculous. We have had a critical alert on the panels since June of 22 and I ordered the inverter for replacement I got it in October 22 and it’s December 22 and I am still waiting to have it installed we finally got it installed on 5 January 2023. And the total electric bill went to 1100 dollars and palmetto solar says they won’t reimburse me for the bill or the inconvenience I do not recommend palmetto solar to do anything for anyone and I would like to see them go bankrupt they are crooks
When my system was installed, I was given the MySolarEdge app. This app is extraordinary compared to Palmetto. Now they’ve blocked access and will only let me use this app. Just a few quick issues. 1. The graphs don’t have labels. It’s hard to tell what a bar chart means without context 2. There is no view of current generation. You only see totals by hour. With the other app, I can see exactly what is coming in at any time 3. No ability to refresh the usage without choosing a different day, then coming back to today. This really isn’t a monitoring tool.
I was expecting to see each panels output and degradation information. Information updates extremely slow, sometimes it’s the next day when I get updated solar information. If your decision on solar companies is close I’m price and equipment, pick the company with the app that gives you more information.
Same basic app just prettier. Nothing like the app I was shown at sales. This data is pretty useless. I’m more interested in consumption and individual panel like they said I would be able to view.
My entire system went down due to a faulty component. It would have been so much better if I had been notified of such. I don't check this app daily, but it was the only way I found out that my system was not producing electricity.
This app doesn’t have all the data that I was told I would get when I signed up (real time energy consumption as well as generation). Pretty sparse offerings in the app. But for the three things it does do (daily, weekly, and monthly usage) I guess it does it well.
They charged me $600 to replace a fuse. Now my system is broken again and assuming it will be $600 more. $600 every time they have to come to your home. Absolute ripoff as the system only lasted a year.
After paying 10’s of thousands of dollars for solar panels the app used to track production shows no production. The team insists the panels are producing, but have no data to support the claim. Shame.
Worst decision in my life. Lied about everything, wiped out my savings and even though THEY breached the contract, will not refund my payed in full or honor the rebate.
First off, why have Face ID recognition if you still have to enter in a username and password every 24 hours? Next, have a pull down to refresh option on the current screen you’re looking at, having to switch to weekly and back to daily to refresh it is annoying. Also, the screenshots for the app show your household usage, yet I don’t get that. I asked support about it and they said they don’t offer that anymore. Are there plans to add this back? It would be great to see some development on this app, but it seems like they are just going to let it fall behind. Definitely gives potential buyers something to think about.
When we fell in love with a property we wanted. We had a tough choice to make. The owner had a contract with vivant solar that he was unable to get out of. We tried and we were told if we wanted the house we would have to sign and accept Vivant original contract that the previous owner signed. We wanted to own our solar along with our roof of any other things that could or would be used on OUR PROPERTY. A year into owning our new home we had spoken to a sales rep from Palmetto. He was very well spoken and took time explain to us certain ways to get out of our contract with vivant. We were not happy nor saw any savings having vivant on our roof. After a few more months I removed the Panles and told vivant come get your equipment. Palmettos rep had asked what we were looking to do? We didn’t want a electric bill. He took a years worth of our bills & came up with the size system to accomplish this. He told us the cost & we would be paid for anything we didn’t use. National grid would buy our unused electricity. After purchasing and having Palmetto install our system. We were then told they would monitor our system for us. That we needed to sign a contract in order to sign up for the smart program. We asked what does palmetto make because this wasn’t told to us before our purchase. We also know palmetto wasn’t monitoring our electricity for free. We know know we were lied to and deceived. We were told 54k and we would make our money back sometime between the 5-6 years of owning. We are averaging close to 200 a month for electric. It’s better than the 450 a month paying vivant but palmetto clearly deceived my family and I. It’s unfortunate because we sought answers from the sales rep Sean. We felt he had integrity and was very convincing with how he said he wanted to help us so we could get out of vivant bogus contract. Palmetto isn’t as bad as Vivant. The new sun run. But they are not truthful with there sales and promises.
Prior to the most recent version you could see real time production stats. I questioned why the date was a day behind yesterday and since then I’ve lost the ability to see the current days data. This combined with the fact that the app does not stay logged in is actually not a “fix” to the app or an upgrade. It was better before the most recent changes. Change it back until you work out the kinks
I was told I will be able to monitor each individual panel and this is not the case. I can only see and overview of total amount of energy produce by all panels. Also the current weather doesn’t really ever loads into the app. Additionally, is very glitchy and the current Hertz do not update page needs to be refresh or force close the app in order to work. The history chart can be better displayed. The app needs a renovation update to keep up with current technological advancements.
The app has several issues and the information during the installation process is barely updated. Sometimes it marks tasks that have been completed as in process, and others that have not started are marked completed. The other issue is that the app right now is not giving me any information about the production of my solar panels. It is very disappointing.
My main issue with this app is that the data needs to refresh much more often and there needs to be a way to stay signed into the app or use a fingerprint passcode. Signing in every time I want to check is annoying.
The app works in a sense that I have not had any crashes. However, the data needs to be refreshed much more often (on a clear day at 1:00pm, I know my panels have produced more than 0.5KW). Also, the screens that I see are not what are shown on the demo screens shown in the App Store. I have no breakdown of household equipment.
It’s a cumbersome and non-user friendly! I hate how I have to sign in every time and I can’t use the back button because it is in the extreme top left corner of my iPhone (the same place where the time is displayed). So if I want to go back, I have to close out of the app and log in again!👎
As with everything Palmetto, their app doesn’t live up to the hype. Essentially it only gives you daily production and the local weather. What would make the app useful is the ability to determine when the net between the solar system and electricity used.
