I go stuck on chapter 3 and finally tracked it down to an auto save bug. Or rather the game does not auto save so when you return to the app, previous progress may be erased to the last manual save. But you have no idea that’s the case. It’s pretty bad. I wasted a couple of hours roaming around chapter 3 trying to find more work for Tom. Lazy man, find it yourself!
This is an amazing game. It felt like I was in the story, making history. I had NO glitches whatsoever. Very easy controls. I played on iPad Pro had lots of room on device. The controls are simple enough for a small child to use. I look forward to the next chapters and may play it again as it was that good. It would be the first game that I ever replayed a game in 30 some years. I recommend it to those who enjoy a good adventure game and a good story plus amazing sound and art work. Be prepared to not want to stop though and it’s not a two hour game. Impressive in every way! Can’t imagine how it’s not a 5 star rating or higher! I will watch for more games by this developer. My review although I sent it never viewed in reviews I am resending it before contacting the store. What’s up with that? I’ve never had this problem before. Waiting for the next chapters!
I first got the game for my PC and I love it, though I have not completed the game yet. So once I saw it was available on the App Store I got excited and bought it. I am not disappointed, it’s great export and I get to play the game on the go. My only problems are that at times the audio can randomly cut out and I will have to restart the game, I’m having problems with touch controls, I don’t mean they sometimes don’t work, I actually can’t click anything. Maybe I can figure out the issue. And at times I’m also having problems with saves. The saves are sometimes not working and take me to a black screen with some random questionable audio. Over all I’m satisfied and I can’t wait until the next part comes out on the App Store!
I don’t know what the other reviewers are talking about. I played the whole game, no issues with controls. There’s a tutorial at the very beginning to teach how to navigate. It’s not complicated. The puzzles are a lot of fun, but you’re not spending 30 minutes trying to figure them out. The music is really pretty, the art is nice, the characters are really loveable. Your choices actually make a difference in the storyline. You could easily replay it again and again. You can save at any point and have a lot of save slots. So as long as you save, you can go back to whichever part you want to replay.
Thoroughly enjoying this amazing game, atmosphere, story, voice acting all 5 stars, however a bug seems to have locked up all the controls. After the monks start chanting in the cathedral I saved and quit. On coming back into the game the controls are frozen as if the touch screen is unresponsive, making it totally unplayable. I hope this bug gets ironed out as id really rather not restart the game again. (A recommendation to new players would be to save across multiple slots incase this bug happens to you!) Edit: this has been fixed! Thank you I am able to keep playing.
The story is really gripping, the characters are well-rounded and likeable, the way choices affect actions is really cool. Love it. Unfortunately I’ll have to read the actual book to find out what happens due to slow gameplay, and a real nasty bug. It’s never a nice experience when games force players to walk everywhere, especially games where you have to wander back and forth a lot. It’s not immersive to watch an avatar crawl across a screen, it’s painful. Similarly, not letting players read and skip dialogue—the voice acting is great, but sometimes the content isn’t exciting enough to wait around for, and other times you have to replay a scene because your progress wasn’t saved. Better to let the player be in control of the pace. The controls don’t work well on iPhoneX. The buttons are so close to the bottom of the screen that they trigger the phone’s app selection mode. It would just be a bit annoying, but it caused my game to fatally crash. Now I’d have to reinstall to play, and I just can’t bring myself to crawl around a story I’ve already seen.
Amazing game so far, would be better if I didn’t have to restart and lose progress from glitches. Sometimes the settings button disappears, and the main problem is that the calibration is off so much when I return to the game or after a cutscene that I can’t select any of the items on the bottom of my screen. It usually resets if I close the app but that results in losing game progress since I can’t save before I quit. Otherwise: beautiful artwork, compelling storyline, and interesting characters with impressive voiceovers. Worth the money even with the small glitches. Great work!
Admittedly, I haven’t gone very far in the game yet. BUT it is definitely unique. Everything is animated, the art is great. The music is great, and they even included voice overs. You can tell that the devs worked very hard on this project. I haven’t experienced any glitches yet, but even with the little things here and there, this game has SO much potential. If you like story games and point and click adventures, this is for you. I haven’t seen a game done like this before. Give it a chance! And well done to everyone involved in the making of this game :)
Hey devs, just so you know - apple keeps deleting my sparkling 5 star reviews for your game. I had written a well thought-out review touching on everything (even some audio improvements I felt were needed)..but I thought you should know since deleting my review will negatively effect your games score. I will keep reposting my 5 star review, but I think you should ask apple why they are messing around with customer reviews that could potentially effect the sale of your game.
This is a beautiful game with a beautiful soul. Great point and click adventure game with a great story. It plays like the basic find and use items to solve puzzles in the areas to progress the stories, but also introduces another mechanic where you can use/interact ideas and or clues like you would an item on people or on your surroundings. This is a great idea that I believe the genre will keep around. Would highly recommend for fans of this type of game.
I regret spending money on this game. I loved the book and wanted to play the game because of it. At first I thought the glitches were because of my phone, but the game only lets me play so far every once in a while before crashing. Half the time I open the game and can touch my screen all I want but nothing happens. Tried contacting support but with no luck. Finally caved and deleted and reinstalled the game only to have the same problem with all my progress (up to chapter 4) gone. The visuals are beautiful for a phone game but it's worthless if you can't actually play the game.
I paid the $5 because I love the book series and thought it would be great fun to lose myself in a game placed in the same world/era. However, the demo mode/controls for iOS are so abysmal it’s unusable. After the character moves about 3 steps the game locks up and the character can go nowhere. I have tried endlessly to get troubleshooting assistance or a refund but nothing addresses this issue nor have I been able to locate contact info for Daedalus. So at least if you’re using an iPhone or iPad, run the other way. Do not throw your money away on this app. It is nowhere near the quality of Ken Follett’s masterpiece.
I’m very into history as well as social/cultural anthropology. This is a piece of work that, even with my ignorance from not reading the original material that this game is based on, I can tell took a lot of care to the environment that creates three dimensional characters within the proper context. It has a religious basis, and I am not a religious person; but it does not alienate and preach. More about humanity and personal choices.
iPhone 7+. When you move app to the background and you get back to it the touch screen doesn’t work. That’s happens constantly and not related to any special scenarioS which means the app doesn’t work on iPhone 7+ not the company still charge for it. There is no app support only support forum so there is no way to send emails. In the drop down there is it even this game. Is it a step son? Rating will not change until the app start working or refund will be issued. Otherwise it’s considered a rip off and should be reported as such.
This is a game based off of a novel by the same name. It is incredibly interesting, and takes probably close to 7+ hours to complete the whole thing. Well worth it for the cost. It looks great, is incredibly atmospheric and detailed, and also compelling. It is also entirely bug-free and without any graphical issues.
I love this game. The glitches were minor and didn’t detract from the experience at all. Plus they are working on the glitches. I played twice back to back so I could make different choices and see what that changed! Can’t wait to play the next chapters!
Don’t get me wrong, the 7 short chapters are beautiful and very entertaining. But there are supposed to be 2 additional books to this game, and they have not been released and it doesn’t look like they ever will be. So basically just as you start getting invested in the story, it just stops abruptly and leaves you very sad, disappointed, and unsatisfied. I’d give this game 5 stars if it was the whole thing. But there’s no point in spending your money just to play 1/3 of a game. I’m very unhappy.
My game freezes after loading from either a save created my own (which I then stopped saving and depended on the games natural save which worked until the 6th chapter), or it freezes after loading it from the games save. So it’s virtually unplayable. I’m playing it on my iPad 5th gen mini. I can’t imagine playing this on an iPhone, it would be too small
Game is beautiful and interesting — but it is full of glitches. Touch screen interface doesn’t always work, have to restart and replay parts of the level. UPDATE: To bypass glitches, simply save your progress before leaving the app and then do a hard shutdown of the app. When you restart just choose continue and you should be good to go. If you go back into the app without doing this, controls and on-screen choices don’t work right.
Bought this great game to show my support for developers of full version high quality games on mobile, without in app purchases. Please continue to update and fix bugs, thank you developers !!
So looking forward to the next installment. Great job working out the bugs. Daedalic puts soooo much into their “games”, it’s more like interacting with a movie than playing a game. Thank you!
I loved the book and mini series. The game is a really cool extension, almost choose your own adventure. I haven’t been experiencing problems with the controls like others seem to have, works great for me
...I should have. The game itself seems fun and the story seems intriguing but it doesn’t matter because the controls are awful. Any screen interruption throws the calibration off. I had to restart the game 10+ times last night just to play a total of 5 minutes of actual gameplay. Uninstalled until that’s fixed.
The game is beautiful but I have had to restart the game once from the beginning when Phillip was going to see the bishop and now it’s stuck when he is trying to see the jailer. It makes me sad because I’m thinking of giving up on the game due to the frustration
I really like this game however it is mostly unplayable because the sound is mute, no voices, music, background. Please fix this or refund my $4.99. A paid app shouldn’t have such a huge glitch... Oh and I have looked through the developer’s help site... no patch for this mentioned.
I really want to play this game. Right now I can’t leave the app at all without the game essentially freezing (controls become unusable) . Currently gathering monks for meeting and now the game froze on its own at the singing choir and it looks like I’m going to have to restart. Looking forward to future updates....
I was so excited to play this game! I bought it and began to play. Tutorial worked great but after that the actions stopped working. I can’t boil water. It won’t drag to the fire. I have re-opened it five times. Doesn’t work
