BEST GAME EVER
I never ever review games. I rarely review anything. Please take time out of your day and download this app. It’s only $4.99 and you will find endless enjoyment. You don’t need to worry about upgrades or tasks. You don’t need to unlock anything. The whole game is sandbox for you to grow and grow and let your imagination roam wild. With every added block, the world shifts to something new—hanging laundry, birds, bushes, lamps, entire neighborhoods with grass and fences.. that’s not even a fraction of the beautiful creations within this game. You play on your time at your own pace. You can play for two seconds and get back to whatever you’re doing and in that time completely shift your world if you want. This has helped break apart my busy life and bring my mind to ease on my schedule. It’s like being able to take out your brain and squeeze out any anxieties or stressors that have been in there. The beauty in every little thing in this game is unmatched. The creators were so thoughtful and downright magical when putting their hearts into this game(i don’t even like to call it a game.. it’s really an artistic town building app). Anyways, I could talk forever about it, just download and find out for yourself.

Love it!!! Here are some good ideas!
This is an amazing game. Want to make a town on water, well, here is the perfect place! Its an italian or southern europe styled architecture town in the middle of the ocean. This game is pretty easy, make some paths, build AMAZING houses, guess what! There is no in-game money, so the houses are ALL free! Now, I know you haven‘t updated in over 8 months from the time I uploaded this review, however, I have some update ideas! First of all, STYLES! You can select styles. For example: Italian, English, German, Japanese, and MANY MORE! You may select this in the settings button and the houses and paths would immediately change. Second of all, LAND! You should be able to select what you want the land to be. Not only water, but grass, forest, or farmland! This may also be selected in the settings. This may help fit a roleplay. Last of all, ACTUAL BUILDINGS! Note being rude or anything but, towns have more than homes and lighthouses. There should be shops, barber shops, maybe even a supermarket. Its italy (during the time-period I‘m posting this comment), have you ever seen Italy with only houses? Thanks for reading!

Love this game <3
I love this game! So far this game has been so amazing, it’s cute, simple, easy and fun. The building is satisfying and easy, and the aesthetic of the game is just perfect but I would like it if you could add an option to make the world less warped, it look silly and I can add area in certain places because of the world being so warped, but at the same time I like the warping, it adds a challenge to building and it does look great if you can do it well, the settings are easy and everything else if very well polished and perfected. I have nothing else wrong with the game other than the warping, i’ll keep playing the game with it and it’s still very fun. Another fun feature you can add is people, like little people that can walk around with each other and enter and exit houses, a feature like this that could be turned in and off would be so cool and fun, but that’s just my suggestion. The game is amazing I would recommend, 10/10.

Amazing!!
This app is amazing! I actually bought it for the Switch first and loved it so much I wanted to be able to do it without my Switch so I bought it again which I didn’t mind spending the extra money if it meant supporting the creators! I hear what people are saying with wanting to add more features like parks, etc. but I actually like how limited the features are so you have to really be creative and use your imagination. I do wish that there was a way to change the color of existing buildings without having to destroy a building and rebuild it. My only other suggestion is I think it would be cool to add a timelapse feature (like Procreate has) that records your progress as you’re building so that you can go back and watch your progress from the beginning. I think that would be a fun way to bookend the features in this fun, relaxing experience!

Cozy Gamers Dream
I really enjoy the sound design, aesthetic, and simplicity of this game. It does have a limit which I’m sure is important to the minimalist experience, though I do wish there could be a little bit more customization in terms of details and specificity in the streets and pathways. Finding all the new things that come up when experimenting with builds is so fun! Seeing tiny shoes and chairs and tables pop up in the streets is so fun. It would be great to expand upon the types/styles of towns you could built, like a beach town or forest town, and I personally would love a fairytale style town with mushroom tops or something! It would add to its replayability and expand its appeal to more people. Besides the suggested add-ons, it really is a great cozy game that’s easy to put down and come right back to without feeling glued to the screen 🩵. Please don’t change that aspect of it!

Is it a game or therapy?
In the main, most games are fast-paced, goal-oriented blood pressure boosters. When you are tired of those or they just aren’t your taste, try Townscaper. Because there are no points and no achievement-specific goals, it really isn’t a game. Your pace, your rules (within the apps limitations, of course), your creativity. Some think Townscaper is more akin to therapy, and I agree. One thing I like most to do while I’m building is to write little stories in my head about why the build looks l Ike it does and about the people who might live there. Each section of “town” becomes part of a community for me. Browse the Interwebz for Townscaper builds and you’ll find examples of some amazing creativity, design sense, and down-right whimsy. If you like what you see, then get started! And tell all of your friends. They’ll thank you.

This needs to be a new standard of mobile game
What standard is this? The passive, constructive, world building type game. To some this may seem like a tech demo but it’s not. I’ve watched this game get built from the ground up over Twitter and I am so happy to get my hands on it. Now, does this game se feature-less? Sure. That’s your opinion. But this game isn’t meant to be that type of game your imagining. This is a relaxation type game. If you are looking for THAT type of game, Osaka’s other game, Bad North will scratch THAT itch. Now, weather would be nice. I’d love to see rain, or snow build up on the roofs, but it’s not needed. Once you turn on some Lo Fi, turn on some rain sounds and play this game, you will have so much fun. If more features come to this game, I’ll be happy but Osaka, my dude. Thank you so much for this! You and Tiny Touch Tails are killing it and I respect that

Zen city!
One review said it was a simplified sim city, I call it Zen city! It’s easy and relaxing, with no municipal troubles to worry about! It’s basically tap and play. Create beautiful cities or towns, and then start building up to make towers or tiered levels! One of the most fun and relaxing games I’ve ever played! If I may add a bit of constructive criticism, I feel the game would benefit from a few things: Color change option: if we could repaint the buildings after they’ve been built that would be awesome(also maybe a few new wall textures), maybe a color wheel or custom colors. Drag and build/fill in feature: tapping to add each individual segment can be a bit straining on the hand, if we could draw an outline or drag to build multiple segments at once would be amazing! Also the ability to build new segments under existing overhangs would help a lot! Layer control: I tend to build tall towns, but sometimes they get in the way of my view when adding more buildings(especially when most of the grid is full). It would be nice to turn off the layers to maneuver the camera a bit. Overall, this game is amazing! The developers really did a fantastic job in creating this game!

4* for Potential. Needed features.
Very cool tool. Touch interface is awesome. Visual options are great. Most important stuff is done well. Needs: 1 - Ability to add a range of objects at once. Don’t care if it’s a separate tool if you can’t work it into existing touch controls elegantly. I’m happy to change mode. I’m not happy to build a big floor plane poke by poke. Just have the range extend horizontally and vertically separately. Or make it start with a highlight range by selecting points, and then having an extrude tool on that selection. That’s 2 or 3 pokes to highlight a range and a drag action. Add or remove. 2 - ability to delete a layout. My first one was me figuring out what the app does, not an intentional layout. Again, have to delete objects poke by poke, and can’t remove the map at all. Tried a long hold on the map load, didn’t do anything. Makes it not worth the effort.

Love it! Just kinda frustrates me
I know the entire game is supposed to just be simple and relaxing but I kinda hate that it’s too simple. Like I just want a couple extra tools and buildings to decorate. Otherwise I love it and in no way wasted my money. This is just kinda my opinion. I also think it seems a bit.. Bare. The floor is always stone, the only way you get grass is by closing in, there’s like 2 animals available to see ( love how fat the birds look ), but I would definitely recommend this game to people who just wants a whole ton of simplicity and relaxation. If your like me who have a craving for a bit more design, I would still recommend trying it buts it’s fine if it isn’t to your taste. it’s quite nice but quite empty. I give this 4 stars just because it’s way too simple but if I didn’t have that craving for design I would give it 5.

Amazing game with limitless potential.
I adore this game. I have been playing it for a week and already logged a dozen hours. It has such simple and relaxing gameplay and a brilliant concept. It’s an absolute joy to see the Townscapes expand and transform as you build them block by block. As I exhaust the the dimensions of the game I imagine what a potential sequel might include… I couldn’t help but imagine building towns on a mountain or having the ability to terraform in a similar manner. Also, more inhabitants, the birds are such lively touch it would be cool to see other forms of life. Culture too, I kept imagining flags or iconography adorning the spires of the tall towers I’d construct. Overall, I am blown away with the quality of this game. Bravo!

A little sandbox!
Hello! I just wanted to say that this game is amazing! You can play it for hours as their just is no limit to anything you can do! I have been playing it for while now and I just gotta say, it can be played from dawn to noon, and from dusk to dawn again! I play it as a chill game, to just relax and calm down after a long day, as the calming noises are just perfect! A few recommendations. One, could you add a random color, like it would place random colors every time you placed it down. Two, could you make it easier to play down builds in a larger amount? I don’t mind how you do it now expanding the island would be easier! Thank you so much for the masterpiece and goodbye!

I’ve paid a lot more for a lot less
The first time I played, I probably spent at least an hour crafting my little town and buildings. It was delightful and relaxing, well worth the purchase price right there. It’s engaging without being addictive. You can leave it for weeks, or play it every day, and it’ll be there. For a while I thought you couldn’t delete buildings, only undo, and I kinda liked that. Like a real old European coastal town that just keeps building up and out. Then my daughter discovered you can tap and hold to delete. Either way, the simplicity and restrictions are perfectly elegant. I don’t want the makers to change a single thing.

Gorgeous
I love this app, it’s so smart and relaxing and simple, and it gives me a wonderful space to be creative without being gamified or driven to any particular goal. One note, I love the little birds that appear and fly around the cities and roost on the rooftops, but I wonder if there’s some future update where people might be added, just passively sitting or wandering around the streets. I’m sure that’s a lot more complex than it sounds but it would add so much more. Also, maybe alternate building aesthetics to the games main architectural style would exponentially expand the creative capabilities of an already beautiful game. Great job to the team that worked on this!

amazing game (suggestions to developer)
This game is so relaxing and is one of a very few things that soothes my anxiety. The price is a bit steep, however it’s a good price to pay for no ads. A major thing I would like to see is a color wheel with customizable saturation. There are only 3 “regular” house colors and it gets a little repetitive if you don’t like to use the non traditional colors. Something else I would recommend changing is the grid layout it seems very random and kind of awkward and possibly making an option for a square grid. Overall amazing app keep up the great work please!

Awesome game
This game is fantastic. You can make whatever you want and it’s super easy. You can also change the time of day which is really cool. The only thing that would make this game better is if you added people walking around like chatting or in big groups. People walking out of their houses or sitting in their backyards. It would also be cool if you added different types of building like grocery stores and other little shops. I’m not saying that it would become a tycoon game but it would be really cool to see people living their lives as your building a city.

Great Stressless Creative Outlet
I love the design and controls. Color choices for the buildings are complementary and the building design is intuitive. The details are always fun to discover, like how details change when some buildings are closer together or bridge together. The little flags, birds, binoculars, trees, etc are my favorite part and would loveee to see more. I do wish there were more options such as putting in nature field options like grass or sand/beach blocks that work the same as the buildings. Also maybe changing building colors by tapping instead of rebuilding and different roof or a few building types. Or even different climate type maps to choose from at the beginning. Overall, finding this to be a great way to feel active is passing times and to have an outlet for my interest in town design and community infrastructure. As any free field game, so many options and directions you can go for and made simple yet intricate. 5/5

The only “game” I play
This is the only game I play. I actually wouldn’t even call this a game. It’s relaxing, creative, and fun. I can spend a quick 10 minutes building a city or I can spend hours. Could there be weather? Sure. But we don’t need it. Could there be people walking around? Or boats in the water? Sure. But really, we don’t need it. This isn’t a game to win. There’s no point to it, really. It’s beautiful. I love the way you can change the lighting; it’s gorgeous. You can build city after city after city. For me - it’s perfect. Thanks for building it.

Calming and Pleasant to Look at
I could play this game for hours. It’s calming and has a wonderful art style and it’s just so peaceful and relaxing to build these little weird towns. However, I wish there were options to turn music on and off and to have it go on repeat. I also wish maps could be bigger and you could choose what type of landscape to start on (you always start in water/the ocean). The game also really starts to limit you the more you build, like after a certain point I couldn’t build but six blocks up (it goes WAY higher early in). There’s also no tutorial and no “recipe” book.

Great Game
It’s so simple and yet so enjoyable. No objectives, no unlocking items, and best of all and should be a given for a paid app, no ads. I love the simplicity of it, yet there is so much to what can happen to your builds if you know how to place structure correctly. I really enjoy this game, the only thing I would love to see added is the ability to build on land. Or if there was a land and water map. Or the ability plop land squares down. I know that starts to add more to the simplicity but while I really enjoy it, I’d like a different option for building on.

Good, but needs work to be the computer masterpiece
I bought this game on my computer and loved it, and when I heard from a friend it was on IoS I immediately bought it. I played the game for short periods of time a day until I had built to the limits of the grid. You can imagine my surprise when I saw you couldn’t build half a grid size from the computer edition. I then tried to build upwards more, but I found the the build limit was equally limited. Then very frustrated I just played it on the computer, and all is well. So please, devs, change the build limits; I love this game, but in a game based on no limits, I am disappointed that at this time building is limited.

Love this game
First of all this game is so charming and relaxing and I love that there are basically no limitations and no interruptions. I would love to see even more little details through out the game, like imagine how cute it would be if there were cute little lamp posts that lit up, or little rain storms or snow storms! I would love to see little people too, like characters. Not ones to interact with but ones that just went their own way and wandered around! Maybe little animals too, i love the birds. Thank you for a great game! Cant wait to see future updates

Simple joy
Only a couple hours in and I have built the most ridiculous nonsense town and I love it. The only quibble I have is the default zoom/move controls are slightly non-standard so I keep moving in the wrong way: I expect two finger twirl to rotate and instead a single finger turn rotates, so it’ll take me a few tries to get to where I was trying to get to. It would be nice to get a couple more types of buildings and maybe even special “buildings” like parks and the like but so far it’s a lovely delightful game in and of itself.

Awesome Stress Reducer!!
I’m not typically one to leave reviews, but I felt the need to chime in on this one. The game is the most simple and open-ended experience I’ve received from a mobile game. More than anything it is a relaxing experience of building a colorful town that allows you to slip away into designing a detailed canal or a multi-level village with stair leading from the beach to a tower. Totally worth the few dollars to relieve some stress and watch a city be built. Fan favorite is the random pigeons that sometimes appear on buildings. It really adds to the atmosphere of the town.

ive been waiting for this app for a couple months now and its finally here! i have loved this game since it dropped on steam and now i can play wherever. I know ppl want the ability to walk through towns but this game has always been simple and for that its so soothing. And though it may be simple, it doesn't mean boring. The more you play the more you see you can actually create literal art lol give the app a try at the very least youll find yourself more relaxed than you were before you found it

This game is amazing
This game is amazing, and I love the little plops and splashes that they make when you place them down. However, I do have some suggestions on what to add to the game next: 1:Add a button for erasing so that you don’t have to hold down, and put it near the colors. 2: Add a function where you can paint a block: You tap on a block with a color selected and the paint option selected and it switches the color to the color you have selected. 3:Make the perfect circle shapes occur more often so that you can easily make floating islands without searching for hours first. 4: Add people around the town, it feels so empty with no one walking around or doing anything. 5: First person camera: Make an option so that you can walk around the town in first person. 6: Add a tutorial on how to make all the different types of buildings.

Great game but...
I really wish there were other ways to explore the towns we create. I wish i could just walk around in the towns ive made, the camera is effective enough to get around in the sky and build cities from afar, but it doesn't really let you admire the city you've built or get good views. Also there should be a picture mode where all options on the screen disappear so that all you see is your town for a nice picture that doesn't need any cropping

Fun!
Open your creativity, build off one island or make multiple islands. You can bridge buildings , create towers, and scare birds. It’s entertaining without having a defined objective. Like many others I would like to see it updated, not because things aren’t working but because we like it. I suggest different colors or more ambiance items, people moving about or sticking their heads out of windows, smoke from chimneys, little boats moving about, that sort of thing.

Wish there was a little bit more
This game is creative and adorable. I get a lot of enjoyment building these little towns but there’s a few features I wish the game had. I’d like there to be a little bit more dynamic lighting at night. So the town looks warm and inviting. I also wish there were people roaming around. Like they don’t have to be super detailed. Just some little people to help the town seem more lively. Lastly, I know it’s a tall order but if there was any way to explode the town in 1st person, I think that would be very cool.

Good but limited
The game is great but limits options. If one could start building on land as apposed to water, that’d be great. Also different styles or eras of buildings would be cool (building a medieval style city vs a modern city). Roofs are also quite funky because if you want a large building to have a sloped roof (similar to a cathedral) it’ll more than likely flatten to a railed flat roof. Really cool concept, I think just feeding the algorithm more options or even giving the user options to pick from for their algorithm would be very cool and potentially change this game greatly.

Beautiful
This is a beautiful game. There is no point to it, which is why they refer to it as a toy; which is a pretty good description. It is interesting to see the different things that pop up. The doodads and knickknacks. The controls are very intuitive, which is awesome. Once you get going, you can create some very whimsical structures. In my minds eye, I see the people that live in the town: walking, riding small boats to deliver the mail or visit a neighbor. I’m not saying to put these in the game, that’s just where my imagination goes. Quickly you learn some of the rules. I’m not going to tell you any because part of the fun is discovering them. It would be nice to see different architectural styles. Not all at the same time, but choose before you start. Like city brownstone, or medieval village. The seaside village, though, is perfect.

Relaxing and Beautiful
I’ve played this game for around 30 minutes and I can already say that it’s extremely stress relieving and artistic, even if you aren’t a creative person. If there was one thing I would change so far-if this already isn’t a part of the game-it would be to add a customizable GUI, so that we can put the undo and redo buttons where we want in the actual game screen so that we don’t have to click on the drop down menu.

Amazing but….
Now I really like this game because it’s simple and satisfying but I have a suggestion. 1.I would like to have little characters walking on the paths and going in the homes. 2.I would love to have a terrain tool so I can make mountains and stuff. 3.I would really really love to have little shops like when you build you can choose residential, commercial, and industrial and based on the type you choose the building looks different.

Great “Game”
For what it is, it’s wonderful. You can’t really consider it a game, since there are no objectives, no levels or anything, you just build a little city/town. It’s quite marvelous to look at, and really satisfying to build. The only thing I can think of to change or add would be a picture mode, where you can capture beautiful scenes of your creation. Other than that, well worth the money, I’ve spent hours and hours enjoying it.

Has Potential
Would like to see this app feature much more within it to maintain interest and inspire a deeper creativity level. The style and buildings are definitely cute and feature unique qualities when placed together. However, I found I was burnt out just after a few hours of playing as there just wasn’t too much to expand on or interest me. Would be amazing if it featured both on ground & water building in comparison to just water. having a modern style, high rise, cute stores, tiny markets, restaurants, cars, animals. Esp people functioning throughout; going boating, walking the streets, eating, in and out of buildings, and seeing them on upper floors living and functioning inside buildings etc. Would be nice to have it be customizable: colors, more variety of building styles etc Has potential, but needs to expand into a greater design/gameplay to hold interest and be worth its high price point.

I love this game, my coworker said to me “you paid 5.99” for that game I said yes, it’s just as much as a Big Mac and I get to use it everyday. No ads nothing extra. I would LOVE it you guys could add people, like just autonomous people walking around riding bikes, playing with animals, maybe like if a court yard appears there could be a swing set that spawns, them chilling on their balcony reading a book. Them playing in the beach. 10/10 love everything about this.

Finally! Most relaxing app
I have been anxiously awaiting the release of Townscaper to IOS since I have a medical condition that makes using a mouse hard, but I really love this game! The game feels like it was made for touch format, so simple in it's interface but the programming that goes into it's complex bulding interactions is immensely satisfying. I will be spending many happy hours plopping down buldings. Thank you for making this game available to people who can only use touch formats <3

Artistic and Fun
This app is really cool, and it's just pure fun to play with. No pressure, no stress, no time limits, and almost no learning curve to master. And there's not a set goal. You're creating structures by interacting with the screen, and those structures are interesting looking and artistic. You're able to manipulate the screen to allow viewing of your "town" from a lot of different angles. A big thanks to the developers for providing it to the public.

Only game I play
This game is super relaxing. Whenever I’m stressed or anxious I just go on here and plop some building down. It’s really cool how it’s able to know the orientation of the different building and automatically change what they look like. Just like most people, my only complaint is I wish there was more customization available. Like restaurants or docks. Other than that though this game is great and it’s well worth the $5

Amazing stress reliever!
The game is great and I use it all the time to relive my stress and make cool cities but I have three nitpicks. 1.) The game is very out of your control so if you are looking for a complex city builder, this isn’t the game for you (This isn’t too much of a problem but can be frustrating at times). 2.) the game doesn’t fit the price tag (I recommend $3). 1.) the camera and city building feels limited at times like the build limit and the weird camera setup. An overall 9/10

Love it
All in all, amazing start! There are a couple things that I personally would like, such as a larger area to build. Maybe some new buildings, but going off of another comment I saw (I know this is probably a stretch for the game) but adding people sounds like a fun little addition. Especially if we can watch them grow. But so far I love this. The only immediate change I would ask is for an infinite world to build on…

Absolutely amazing!
This is so addictive, I had to turn on time limits to stop playing hours straight. Which is really surprising given that there isn’t much of a game per se. You literally just building a little town. No grind, no in-app purchases, no battle royale, no pay to win. Nothing that spoils the pure joy! This is masterpiece. P.S. Apple Store somehow lost my first significantly longer review. Great concept, lacking depth
This is a great concept for an app but I’m disappointed by the lack of depth. For a paid app I expected more variety in both the types of buildings that are generated as well as the art style. You could have all sorts of different towns - snowy village, desert, forest, etc. instead of just Mediterranean coast. Towns usually have more than houses - it would be great to have some different types of buildings. The app hasn’t been updated in a year so I don’t have high hopes, but it could be expanded upon with great success.

Good but not worth $5
While it’s definitely evident that a lot of work has been put into the game both graphically and conceptually, the $5 price tag doesn’t justify the actual scope of the sandbox-type gameplay, in my opinion. As another reviewer mentioned, if the app included a future update allowing the player to construct buildings from different eras and countries, then the price might be more justified. It’s still a fun game, I just felt burnt after paying $5 for it

4 stars for potential
I would happily give this app 5 stars if it had a few changes: 1. An option to add/delete large swaths of building at once 2. An optimization of the save map feature. You are unable to delete maps, and having to delete a single block via long press makes the ordeal of starting again not worthwhile I also think more features involving the building in general would be fun.

Absolutely stunning
I so badly want to see more things like this in the App Store and also the world. Thank you so much for this beautiful experience… I think it is remarkable as it, but if this is something that is going to evolve, I am on board every step of the way. Imagine seeing little people populate the towns 😭 like getting to watch their little daily activities.

Really great I want more!
I love this game I have it on my Switch, iPad and phone. I enjoy figuring out the ways to get stairs in certain areas depending on how I place the buildings. The only negative I would have to say would be I wish I could expand the world and just keep building. The graphics are lovely and calm. I love adjusting the light and seeing how it changes the way the town looks. I especially love when all the windows light up at night.
