I drive throughout the state multiple times per week. I'd hoped this would give a helpful indication of travel conditions. It doesn't. When I reported a concern, I was told that the counties have to report. The app implies that it provides current travel conditions. It is not accurate---and the designers do not feel compelled to address that. The buck is simply passed to others. That may be true, but it should clearly indicate that this is NOT a credible source for current conditions. I expect better from a state sponsored app. Do it right or don't do it at all.
I love this app because I don’t have to check the travel status on my computer anymore or even when I’m on my iPhone, I don’t have to open Safari, tap few times to get to the desired link. The app makes it a tap away from viewing all counties status. Also, I checked the data on this app against the “DHS County Travel Status” and the data is accurate. I agree with some users with 1 and 2 stars: few of the counties haven’t changed their county travel status for a long time – BUT what’s the point if there has been no change since then.
for the love of all that is Hoosierly, please stop asking me to agree to the terms and conditions every time I open the app, or switch back to it from the app switcher. I agree, I agree, I agree. also, it might be nice to know _why_ a county is displaying a travel condition other than normal, but I realize this might require changes in the way counties report their statuses to the state. still, knowing that Greene is Advisory due to weather, or that Marion is Warning because space aliens have landed at the Velodrome might be helpful.
I think more counties need to update their status earlier when snow hits, since this has been hyped up by the media. First snow and my county hasn't updated their status yet and cars are skidding off the roads. Indy is in yellow, but country areas are still in green. Hope by the next storm they inform the other counties to fix this problem.
10 years in the making! Great app to monitor travel conditions. Much faster to access than the website. Would love to see push notifications for higher travel alerts.
Great idea but counties need to remove there updates
Think this app is a great idea but south bend area has been under a advisory for weeks now. I'm sure it's the county's fault not the app but I could be wrong. Happy noble county keeps there's updates well.
I have the settings turned on for a particular county to be notified when the status changes, but I still have never received notifications. With it being winter, our county status has changed.
I thought this app would be so helpful as we travel to the northern part of the state frequently! It is totally useless as the app is not updated on a regular basis!!!! It still shows counties with advisories that haven't been updated for over a week!! What good is this?
I was very interested in this app but haven't been able to trust it. The data they use is old. Tap on a county to see when it's been updated. My county hasn't been updated since Dec 3. Not good. Even if the conditions haven't changed.
I find this app is a great idea, however the counties are NOT ever updated, and information on the app doesn't reflect the travel advisories in the local news station. Definitely need to work on reflecting reality on this one!!😞
Right now several counties are under a winter weather advisory yet nothing shows on this app. What the reason for the app if it doesn't show things in time to do something about it?
Does anyone care??? Doesn't work someone is sitting on their thumbs. I spent 22yrs 9 months active Army SATCOM I make sure you would find another job. Unbelievable!!!!
A truly pointless app, why is it only weather related travel advisories? Why not have an app that has travel advisories for all sorts like wrecks, construction, and oh, weather! Waste of money!
This app requires EMA for each county to update it. NIXEL can be tailored to which text you receive. Even though county police has made statements about road conditions. The EMA didn't so my county hasn't been updated since 12/4/14.. Guess the flipped over semi and slide offs don't count. I'll use WAZE when on the road
The Indiana Travel Advisory app is meant to help users stay aware of changing travel conditions. Features include: - Ability for users to set alerts for any county or counties they choose, up to every county in the state. When the travel status in a selected county is changed, the user will receive an alert notification. - Weather conditions for each county. Tapping on a county will display the temperature and an icon with the current conditions. - Contact information for county emergency management agencies, which are responsible for the status updates. The State reports data provided by county Emergency Management Agencies (EMAs). Some counties only update data when there has been a change in status and do not reaffirm that everything is ‘Normal.’ For example, County X may not have had any travel emergencies since June and has remained in the ‘Normal’ category the entire time, since the status has not changed, there has been nothing to update. The next time there is a county-level emergency impacting travel, the status is changed by the county EMA and is reflected in the app. Other sources of travel conditions should also be consulted, including local news, travel, weather and social media sites and apps.
