This app is not intuitive on Mac. It should walk you through how to update your headset. I had my transmitter set to Xbox and it was stuck in updating phase and it never told me to switch to PC. Once I did it took a long time to update the headset. This could be better if it would walk you through the process. Just glad I was finally able to update the headset to fix the bluetooth issue.
Both the iOS Mac app and the iOS iPhone app worked perfectly, once I realized I had to use my MacBook to do the actual updating. I had to connect both the USB Transmitter (with the switch in “USB” mode vs “XBox” mode) AND the Headset (using the USB power cord) each into different USB ports at the same time. After synching, the app told me that updates were available and I selected “Yes” to do the actual updates. After about 5 minutes, the update finished, and I noticed that the transmitter was updated to 4.0.9.0, but the headset had not (it was still at 4.0.8.0), so I selected “update” again. After another 3-5 minutes, the app indicated both the transmitter and the headset were updated to the same update #, and I was done. It all went very smooth. I love the app.
I understand people having problems and being unable to solve it and chat not being available from TB. With that said. once installed took maybe 5 minutes on my macbook to update both the switcher from the console and the headset. Connects to the iphone after update with no issues. Had a 'static' issue before update, was about to box it and return it, then remembered it probably has a firmware update needed. After update, static isssue went away. if issue occurs again i will return the product and update this review.
Hopefully this will help if others are confused about the signal lights. The biggest problem I had was finding 2 converters to connect both the transmitter and the headset USB-As to my M2 Macbook Air, which only takes USB-Cs. After solving that, I tried using the transmitter to update but did not realizing that when the transmitter "breathes red," it means the mic is muted, *not* that it hasn't connected to the headset. It took me a few minutes to realize that, and once I flipped down the mic on the headset, it changed to green and all was well. For actual usage, I put on a couple movies and games and played some music and sound was great, although I should note I'm not an audiophile- probably just an average user. Finally, the headset fit comfortably for a couple hours, even on my big noggin and with glasses.
It finally worked after a few attempts so i can't really be too mad. The update for my headset (which already is ludacris from the jump but anyways) kept failing and i guess i finally got the planets aligned correctly for it to work. I swapped each back and forth between the two usb ports and tried plugging them in before and after opening the app as well but dont remember the correct combo sorry. Hope it works for yall, cheers!
Well I downloaded the app and updated the headset without issues. So that's good. However all the cool features you see in the images, programable buttons, EQ and whatnot. On a Mac M1 none are accessible. Upon opening the app I just see a picture of my headset and the option to either update or restore to default the headset. Nothing else, so I cant even change the volume via the programable scroll wheel on the pc on this fairly expensive piece of hardware.
On my Mac Mini M1, I had to make sure to connect both the headset and the wireless transmitter to the same USB hub, otherwise the app won't update. Before, I had the transmitter connected to an external USB hub and the headphones connected directly to my Mac. When I connected them both to same external hub, then the app worked.
Gone through 3 differnet headsets to try and get them updated and worked. Not once have I been able to complete the update. The support team is unable to do anything to help other than send me a new headset to continue this loop. Spent money on a brick so far and its more a less a software issue. Pathetic.
Headset cannot be adjusted and options don't even appear. Trying to update is worthless. Clearly this app is not connecting correctly with the stealth 600 gen 2. Added to this, my headset which is 11 months old has strated crackling and putting static into the gaming chat. Seems to be a poor product not supported well.
The audio hub app shuts down unexpectedly and unistalling and reinstalling didn’t work. Tried to get help from the chat on the website and it continually says no agent is available to help. App then says it is not available in the U.S. I read the other reviews and this app seems like a huge scam. I will be returning my headset.
Not sure if people are having similar issues but I'd say the software is trash. I have a newer M2 Mac and thats probably the problem. I can not get the USB to update to the latest firmware. Keeps giving me an error and support will not respond to my emails. So, was a first time Turtle Beach purchaser and will now never be a Turtle Beach purchaser.
I have tried hard resetting. Everytime I go to the app to update, it just stays grey and will only let me reset, nothing more. Really frustrating to buy a headset to have to update it to get the "best" quality, only for the app not to work without any explaination.
"Please remove and reinsert your transmitter while holding the pinhole button until your transmitter begins blinking green in order to enable Audio Hub functionality." Pinhole button means power button? Holding it turns off the headset, and the transmitter is not blinking green.
The app will not connect to the headset no matter how many different combinations of cables or ports I try. It doesn't matter if the headset is powered on or off either. Just nothing. The party chat wheel still isn't working.
I had one USB-C to USB-A adapter, bnut plugged the headset in using a USB-C cable and still get aan error saying both need to be connected using USB. Why not allow use of USB-C for at least the headphone connection to the Mac? Put it on your roadmap or don't bother advertising for use on a Mac.
The preview images you see above are not acurate no matter what I do all I get from this app is type of headset I have and the transmistor and headset version nothing else
I guess I'll have to get a usb hub because my M2 mac has exactly 0 USB-A ports and I can't update the transmitter and the headphones independently using my one port USB-A media adapter.
Would love it if compnanies took pride in there products still these days. Donwloaded the update and now it wont connect my stealth 600 to the audio hub. Please fix this is issue.
Rating this for four stars instead of five for the lack of clear instructions - when you start up the app it should first tell you to connect both the receiver and headset. This software is absolutely necessary for your Turtle Beach headgear. I just recently purchased a pair of Stealth 500x. I thought it sounded dull compared to my DX12. No microphone issues, but it sounded like it was muddy highs and non-existant bass and too much echo even after switching around the presets. A couple of things here - you have to attach both the receiver and the headset in order to have this work. It will not work if you just attach one part of the set since the firmware has to match in both pieces. When I did that, my firmware for the headset was changed by two releases and the receiver by three. It now sounds pretty close to the DX12 after also applying the Destiny sound profile into what was my racer slot. It does what it needs to do, and it does so flawlessly. It would be 5 stars if it did a couple of things - 1) Had better instructions and 2) Allowed you to create custom profiles for the 500x and 3) Allowed you to test the profiles with a sample
After this update and connecting my base and headset to my mac, my elite 800’s will not work properly with my ps4. They were working fine literally minutes before I updated to this version and connected the base and headset to this app. I was just making sure there wasn’t any necessary firware updates for my equipment. Now the only way I get sound is if I set them up as “all audio” under the “output to headphones” tab with-in my ps4’s audio device section. To have them work properly I have to have them set as “chat audio”. However, now when I do that I only hear the sound it makes when I turn up and down the volume control with-in that section of the audio device for my headset. The audio I hear when I set it as “all audio” is very glitchy. It sounds horrible! I can’t even use them with my ps4 now! Also, I went through all the normal “troubleshooting” steps. I did a hard reset on my headset and power cycled the base and did this and that (& on&on)…I even replaced the optical cable to see if it was bad. Nope! It’s sad when the update notes say “fixes and improvements “ under why an update is being pushed out. This is the first time I have had an issue with these elite 800’s that I couldn’t fix. Sadly, this time it was TB who caused the issue! Please Fix! Please!
Connect the Headset and Transmitter/Charging Stand!
As said before, all you have to do is make sure you connect both the Headset with the Programming USB cable, AND the Transmitter/Charging Stand with the Charging USB cable to your Macbook and/or PC, hit Continue/Accept. Then it does everything else for you. Once it is updated, you can then choose custom presets based on the games you play and assign them to the EMPTY or ALREADY used preset channels. Allow it time to sync, then close the APP/Program and plug the transmitter back into your console. It’s easy to do even for the novice user. Mine was updated, preloaded, and Preset loaded all within 15 minutes and back to gameplay! I hope this helps some of you that are getting frustrated! I just got mine shipped to me yesterday, let it charge all night before use today and couldn’t be happier. Finally a product worth the price we have been paying for high end headsets for far too long. What a relief!
I don’t know what else I could say about this app. I love the headset and agree with the reviews about how Turtle Beach makes an amazing gaming headset. I was sent an email by Turtle Beach stating I needed to update my firmware, and that in order to do that, I needed to download their app. I have now downloaded and installed this app twice, and every time I go to open it, I get a lovely message saying in encountered a problem and was forced to close. In trying to troubleshoot the problem, I uninstalled and reinstalled… still get the same message. And to make it worse, the app store is apparently the only place I can download the app, I can’t even get it from Turtle Beach itself. I even tried the iphone app, which I could at least get to open, but for some reason, even with the headset sitting literally right next to the phone, it still can’t find it and connect to it… so while I highly recommend Turtle Beach for their headset and the quality you get with it… do not, I repeat DO NOT go anywhere near this app, it’ll be nothing but a headache and a monumental waste of time.
Just got the brand new 700 stealth headset and it keeps dropping in and out. I decided to see if there were any firmware updates so I plugged it in to the computer and downloaded the app. Only the computer app has the option to update the firmware. The phone app has some settings but no real explanation as to what some of the special features even do. and its not apparent. Downloaded the computer app and 1) theres no nre firmware, so i have to just deal with crappy headphones. 2) these screenshots are fake. the only option you have is to update firmware or restore. no other buttons. just a picture of headphones and those 2 buttons. and not even an option to backup in the first place. and what would you even be backing up... theres no data to back up.. This company is bogus.
This app works... you just have to keep the headset and the bluetooth receiver usb plugged in the whole time! I updated the firmware on the 1st try. Also, I have to say I love these headphones. After updating the firmware, I paired them with my iPhone and they are better than my gym headphones! The previous reviews were probably from people who haven't updated their Turtle Beach Audio Hub app, pressed buttons while downloading, or didn't have the devices plugged in right. 10/10 recommend
NOTE: User must connect the headset AND wireless USB transmitter in order to update. The USB from the headset to the computer must be data capable, as some are only for charging. The sound on these is soooooo much better now, and before the updates my mic wasnn't working at all. You can also adjust different features. You may also have to re pair the wireless USB and the headset by pressing the teeny button on the wireless connector with a simpin or small paperclip for 5- 10 seconds until it flashes rapidly. Next you'll have to put the headset in paring mody by pressing the power button for 10 seconds until the light on the headset flashes rapidly. Eventually after 30 seconds to a minute they pair up and both lights are solid. **if either lights are flashing they're not paired correctly. You're welcome.
And the app did what it was supposed to. I see a bunch of reviews saying that their headset could not be discovered. The customer support agent's instructions were very specific but I made sure to follow every detail and I successfully updated my headset. Now hopefully my headset won't be automatically shutting off anymore! I have yet to test the headset performance. Audio Hub works fine though.
The headset by itself is very good and has many features that I enjoy, but after downloading this app on my phone and on my computer so I could update the firmware my experiences listening to music and gaming have been increased very much. The different surround sound features and equalizer preset options they provide make aything you do that much better and immerse you more into whatever you’re doing
I keep trying to update firmware. Thats the answer to the questions asked about the problems I'm having with the headset. I had Multiple series of them from 600 to the 700 and each one is the same. They never want to connect to this app. Its ashame the company won't offer to help when they stop woking every 3 months or so. I have insurance through the store and that is the only reason as to of why I still have them. I keep trying to update the headset and firmware but never allows me to connect them to my computer, sons computer or wifes computer.
I connected my headphones and got the pop-up to "connect additional components” as another reviewer mentioned. Immediately after I got another pop-up that elaborated and told me to plug-in the base too. Once both were connected, I clicked “ok” and after a few minutes, both were updated and I was able to swap out the default presets for new ones from the app.

There isn’t much to say about this app other than it works. I did have to plug in the transmitter and the headset set to update both at the same time. It won’t update just one or the other it has to be both. There are no other setting or features, a manual for your connected headset would be nice. Maybe a way to see the different audio features.
I lost my Stealth 600 transmiter during a move and the Turtle Beach replacement wasn't pairing with my original headset. After some trial and error, I downloaded the app, plugged both headset and transmitter into two USB slots, and ran a quick and easy firmware update. That did the trick and now everything is gravy.
This software works for the headsets it is designed for. I installed on my mac and connected both the usb reciever and the headset to my usb ports and in 3 mins everything was updated as expected. Headset still works with all my devices as it did before. No issues for me, I bought the Stealth 700 and has been great on everything so far.
I have been having trouble with my Elite 800x headset for xbox one, and approached the support team via email. They instructed me to do the bootloader mode, and I did, but with no luck. I told the support team that the app does not appear to be working properly, they then sent me an email with specific intructions to activate bootloader mode. I followed the instructions to the letter, and still my headset will not pair with my transmitter. I am very displeased with Turtle Beache’s app. Especially when I have one of their most expensive headsets, but their support team is great at replying to my emails.
