Jonathan the adjuster was very friendly and answered all of my questions only reason I gave a star. But 3 weeks to hear for a claim for major water damage is unacceptable. We’re lucky it wasn’t a main dwelling area. As for the resolution it’s not even enough to fix our floors in the main room let alone laundry and bathroom or cover the removal of all items and flooring we did ourselves . So I’m not sure how to even get you an invoice since it doesn’t cover anything I assume we’ll never see a check from you .. I’ll have my contractor submit his estimate and you’ll clearly see we won’t be able afford to fix what needs to be done .
Premiums increased every year with renewal, with or without claims. Never spoke to a person expect when attempting a claim after Hurricane Florence in 2018, which was to basically say “sorry damages aren’t worth more than your deductible.” (BTW, in what world do the repairs/replacement of all these amount to less than $2500 - total gutters replacement, partial roof shingle replacement, multiple window screens/shutters replacement, personal property to include clothing for 4 people, welding business equipment, and two damaged sheds (“other structures”), one flipped on it’s roof and the other in pieces under a fallen tree.) I signed for the mortgagee to be billed once for the next year’s renewal when I purchased the home - they renewed my policy the next 3 years without more than one email containing the offer to me, and sadly I trusted them too much. The fourth year, they took over $1000 from my escrow account THREE DAYS after emailing an offer of renewal and SIX WEEKS before my policy expired! There was no contact with me to confirm my wishes, and I had not even seen the email yet! As a disabled veteran on a fixed income, this company should be ashamed! I switched to USAA for more coverage at an annual premium of $207 with my membership discount. I hope this company fails.
Our claim was filed in June 2020. Universal provided the estimate which our contractor excepted without change. The contractors were completed in a timely manner and not paid! This is a small minority owned company in Indiana and has cost this company to potentially go out of business! Between my broker, myself and my contractor we’ve made over 70 attempts to collect the money that is due! Each time they said things were not completed through their miserable, low functioning, non-user-friendly portal. We’ve been passed around to at least 10 people.... always with the same answer... Will research it and get back to you. Of course they do not. Each time I let them know my contractor is going to file a lien, they release a small check. But the work has been completed for almost 90 days!!! My contractor had to borrow money from a bank to pay his employees for the job that they completed at my home, that my insurance company agreed to pay! I ask Unviversal Insurance what would happen if I didn’t pay my insurance invoice each month and of course they said I would be canceled.... I have begged, pleaded, cried, for resolution! I had To resort to threatening calling an attorney and filing a report with the department of insurance. I don’t understand this and believe me as many people as I can get to share this information about universal insurance I WILL , so no one else has to endure this and no other small companies will suffer!
Not user friendly. The app looks great cosmetically. The problem is it doesn’t work. Information on payments from the insurance company and documents regarding claims are not there. Interestingly enough, there’s been a lot of work put into features that are good for the insurance company, such as convenient ways to post and upload pictures. The app is not customer focused at all. This app has many options for providing the insurance company with information but it’s very limiting for a customer to access any information from the app. I couldn’t even find a number to the insurance company on the app. I guess I’m going to have to google it. Overall, this app seems designed to help the insurance company receive your money or your photos but isn’t user friendly and sends you in circles and wastes your time and is very, very frustrating to use, especially if you want to access any information from the app. But on the surface, it seems like the app will work, a lot of time has been spent on the color schemes, and it looks very professional except for fact that it absolutely does not work which makes it even more frustrating to use because it looks like it should work.
The latest app is fantastic, the best so far, but it wouldn’t allow me to enter my checking account number. Apparently, it requires an account number that’s between 8-20 numbers, and my account is only 7 digits. I’m not sure that if I had entered a “0” as the first digit, it would’ve worked on the bank’s end. Perhaps, the app’s developer can revise the program to allow 7 digits.
I submitted a claim a few weeks ago. An adjuster came out and looked around outside, we also had damage that could be seen inside. A few days later under details in the app it showed the Claim as being closed. So now I can’t find any details about an estimate or not covered in the policy- Nothing. Nothing directly from Universal or follow up from the adjuster. I sent an email to the supposed address but haven’t had a response. In addition, a storm came through and a tree fell on my garage. When I tried to file a claim on the app it wouldn’t let me. Very disappointed as we’ve had home owners with this company for 15 years and this is only the 3rd claim. Only 1 claim was paid.
I am unable to attach photos to upload for a current claim I have in place. I had the same issue originally submitting the claim. I guess I will have to use the website.
Dealing with insurance, especially after a hurricane, can be frustrating. Everyone at Universal could not be nicer. They have always gone out of their way to answer my questions and help me through this loss. I appreciate the kindness and patience I have received.
Easy to use and provides me access to my most relevant policy docs. I like that I can follow claim status and print my info without having to rely on calling. I can also make a payment so it makes it easy if I need to do it over the weekend. I’m glad they went into the app world ☺️
Ridiculous!!! I logged onto the app and it’s asking me for my account number so it can bring my account up on the app. The app has no information I have to enter it. Why do I need this app. I would think if I got my credentials to log on from you. You should have all my account information. This might be a scam app. I’m will not enter my information to a company that should have it. I’m uninstalling this crap.
I kept getting errors messages when I tried to use the links in the app. So I had to update the app because it wasn’t working right but now it won’t open at all! This needs to be fixed asap because I cannot get on the app to pay my bill and I do not get a paper bill in the mail. I can’t even open the app to get a contact number so I can see my bill!! PLEASE FIX NOW!!!!! Your fault if people can’t pay their bills on time!!!!!!!!!
It’s unbelievable to me how accurate and fast the response time is once you upload a document. This is especially true when you have limited or no access to your home!! Thank You
I downloaded the app so I could pay my bill. The app only let me pay for one month. I couldn’t find a way to pay for the total balance for the year. It also the app will not allow a reoccurring payment. I am beyond annoyed. I just want the bill paid so I don’t have to think about it until next year. Now what. I have to check each month to make sure the bill is paid. This app is only good if you want to be bothered every month.
Hello, I am trying to find in the menu where I can see which bank account I used when I set up this app. I have made a payment and it has not withdrawn from my account yet, and I am trying to confirm the bank account I believe I may have used. But in the menu there is nowhere (that I can locate) to even do that, or change the bank if I desire. Can you assist?
I look for the Elephant icon on my iPhone because I can never remember the company name. The app is great. It has facial recognition so you don’t need to remember your password every time. And the app has everything you need. All your info is there. Great user experience.
This app is great. It was easy to sign up. Log in, view my coverages, deductibles and the ability to instantly call my local agent. The best part I notice is, if we have a hurricane I can or could place a claim via the app. This is great if there is a storm I can just use this app.
First off very difficult to use. Touch points very hard to locate and sluggish. Contact us; literally brings up a blank page! After paying payment, does not take you back to Policies(some people have multiple) Upon paying does not give updated information, so that you can make certain that in fact all policies are noted as paid! I for one will go back to the original website!
Kept calling me while I was on vacation in Europe that my quarterly payment was overdue and it clearly wasn’t due for another month. That’s was you get when they are in Maryland and I’m in Florida.

I am stuck in my brand new condo in a bedroom with a path to the bathroom and kitchen. My condo flooded on December 17, and I keep getting the run around between my homeowners Universal and the HOA insurance. I finally get a live voice who claims to be working on things and I can reach her and no answer to me or a packer and mover. And here I sit in my cage. I need a place to stay that my homeowners covers but they will not tell me how long or what they will cover. I am just an invoice. So sad. MicheleRiviereBridges

I had water damage in my condo. The entire floor had to be removed and replaced. I paid for it myself keeping photos, receipts, videos and estimates that supported my claim. It has been seven months and I am financially decimated. I have had four phone calls from Universal. Period. To the present day my claim is unresolved. Nobody cares and there is absolutely NO ACCOUNTABILITY.
Hard to see the dropdown menu for payment info. I wanted to pay the total amount but ended up having to do so in two different payments. Payments did NOT happen in “real time” either as they have not yet been deducted from my account (24 hrs after using the app). Meanwhile I am wondering who has access to my account!!
I will never shop here again canceled my insurance to a apartment that is in my name and I have been staying every day over the fact of where I receive my mail this insurance is a joke and I would advice nobody to ever shop with them worse homeowners insurance place ever would give negative stars if was possible.

Difficulty in getting through to at least see the point where an existing claim stands is impossible. All phone numbers show circuits busy. A large corporation should not have this issue

This is the worst insurance company ever. They hate when you make a claim, then refuse to finish paying it. I had my roof replaced due to storm damage. That was in 2022. Initial check sent to roofing company, now 2 years later, still haven’t settled on the claim.
That pretty much says it all. I have been waiting for almost 3 years and I can’t get anyone to help me or tell me what is the hold up. I have mold, I have dry rot, I have paint peeling off my walls and….crickets. GOING ON THREE YEARS. Beware, they say “quick resolutions”? Really?
Trying to use your app to make a payment and it won’t take my name or account number and you’re closed on Saturday which should be convenient for customers.
You make it hard to pay my bill. Plus I did not get a notification that my bill was due until my agent called me to notify me that my insurance is cut off tomorrow. This not acceptable.
For a claim status to be “concluded” means nothing to me. I need to know what the conclusion is, without having to make a phone call to a representative who may know nothing more than I do.
