After about an hour of troubleshooting I was able to get it to connect to WiFi. However your WiFi settings have to use WPA/WPA2 (TKIP) in order to stay connected. Using these settings, the safe works flawlessly to alert realtime, each time the safe is opened or alarmed. But if you switch to WPA2 or WPA3 WiFi settings, it will not function properly, which is concerning. Please update your software and support to your otherwise excellent products!
The app constantly crashes or disconnects from Wi-Fi. I’ve deleted an re-installed multiple times and now when I log try to log in it says loading for ever then says “you are disconnected, would you like to reconnect”. I click “yes” and see a green signal meter light up a few times then nothing over and over again. If you check “no” for reconnecting the app goes to loading again and ends up right back at the disconnected message. This app is absolute garbage. I wouldn’t refer these to an enemy These safes are great looking and do what they’re supposed to do on the safe level. I have four different models that I’ve bought over the years. The newest one or two will be returned. ALWAYS have had an issue with the Wi-Fi/app. Unfortunately I was told by customer service when I could reach someone that they were working on it. As for a safe they are great. For what you pay because of the features they deserve a negative 5 star review at a minimum. I have to give them a positive 1 star to submit this. The only reason I gave a 1 star
I’m not one to leave reviews, but I believe in technology and a great supporter of VAULTEK products. First, the initial configuration process must improve. Took several attempts to configure only to find out through additional research the safe only supports 2.4GHZ WiFi connection. In my opinion please provide 5 GHZ many of your disconnect issues or issues connecting to the safe the first time may go away. What aren’t all features the same across your entire product line? I have other safes that allow you to open up your safe via WIFI app; this safe does not let you? Why would you remove this feature? Other than that I will not bash the product. I love VAULTEK products, and like all technology on the market you will always have a slight glitch or two.
App provides the basic features and, most importantly, the notifications that I expected for the Slider NSL20i safe. For this safe, the temperature and humidity readings/limit settings weren’t mentioned as a feature. A tamper indicator is shown in the app, but the impact detection sensitivity setting is disabled, which is a bit disappointing. Battery level, safe lock status, history log and fingerprint renaming features work fine. Since the safe’s keypad and biometric fingerprint scanner is quick and reliable, I decided not to use the smart key, and therefore did not test the App’s smart key settings. The initial WiFi connection took a few attempts before it finally completed the process.
App has basic functionality. I can monitor and configure my safes with it. Does not constantly disconnect from Wi-Fi for me (some other guy said he had that problem). My only complaint is very little effort put in to update and improve the app. Missing some small features that aren’t “necessary” but would be “nice” like being able to choose the order in which your safes are displayed in the “select safe” list. Currently the order is random and cannot be changed. Vaultek safes are awesome and I own three of them as well as two of their LifePods. I wish they would provide a similar caliber product in their app.
I’ve had this app for a while now and have had zero problems. This surprises me since I’ve read a lot of very bad reviews speaking about all kinds of problems with it. It connected with my WiFi on the second attempt and has stayed connected. If anyone does anything with the safe the app lets me know about it. I think this app and the safe are a great combination and I’m very pleased. Either Vaultek did a lot of improvements to the app or I’m extremely fortunate.
I’ve been locked out of my app for two days now. It says: “You have been disconnected. Do you wish to reconnect?”. I’ve restarted my phone, closed the app, deleted the app, and ensured my WiFi was on 2.4. This is unacceptable for what is being charged for these safes. PLEASE update your software to actually work reliably. When it does work, it works amazingly well. The safe itself is everything I need it to be, but one of the main reasons I went with this safe was because of the tamper alerts sent to my phone. The entire feature is useless when the app breaks and the Wifi disconnects from my network randomly. Reviews regarding this are years old. Please fix this asap.
The apps not bad. It does what it’s supposed to do. I left off a star because it’s super lame that there is no feature in the app to extend the interior light. It stays on for like 10 second when I open the door then I have to turn on the closet light or keep feeling for the button in the dark to get light in 10 second intervals. Very annoying and a simple add that was overlooked for the app. 5 stars if they add that feature. Otherwise I love the safe.
Absolutely horrible app. Took forever to get it to connect to my internet because the app would glitch. Still can’t get it fully connected and get to the main page to view my safes information because when I go to select safe after I click add user it just freezes or the app crashes. I’ve reset my phone and done everything I can to get it to work, it’s horrible.
Love the safe itself but app is complete trash. Half of the app can’t be used, can’t use a lot of the app features on Wi-Fi version of safe which is ridiculous because Wi-Fi goes further than Bluetooth and is always the more expensive version, constantly getting false updates when I’m just staring right at the safe and literally telling me in 10+ text open, constantly loses connection, again the safe is amazing but app is complete trash.
With Vaultek’s WiFi enabled safes you can receive live notifications of safe activity and even manage safe settings remotely. I really love the fact that I can receive instant notifications of tampering. Great app so far and look forward to checking out other products by Vaultek.
There needs to be a complete overhaul of the WiFi feature. The feature loses connectivity consistently and needs constant reset. I believe the feature needs a firmware upgrade to fix. Hopefully the company is working on it.
App shows good information, and allow for easy settings changes. However, I think there should be a setting to increase the lighting duration of the LEDs inside the safe. After opening the lights stay on for about 10 seconds. It's inconvenient to have to toggle the lights while using the safe. All of notifications and sensing work great.
This is basically a worthless app. It doesn’t work at all. It will not go beyond the “loading screen” and eventually prompts you to reconnect. Disappointed that Vaultek sells you equipment with the ability to connect via Apps/WiFi and it doesn’t work. Vaultek’ s failure to address the issue seems to reflect how they feel about their customers. It’s going to be hard for me to give them anymore money or recommend their products to friends after being treated like that.
I can active the impact detection, nor can I use the temperature or humidity monitors. The smart button keeps changing to off after a few hours too. It's frustrating because this worked flawlessly on my pixel 3 that I had a week and a half ago. Not having a positive iPhone switch experience at all.
No longer connected to the RS500i. Over the months I’ve exhausted troubleshooting following all recommendations and tips like a soft reset, changing networks or advanced diagnostic mode. Short of an app update and improved procedure, looks like the only option is to hard reset the safe and lose all fingerprints for multiple people. Don’t intend to do that. Very disappointed. iPhone 15 Pro.
Do these people even try their own products? For as expensive as their products and safes are you’d think they’d put a serious effort in to their apps to make sure they were helpful. This particular app, would not go past the “set your own pattern lock” page. So there it sat, nothing else, just a black screen with dots with NO other options to go forward OR back. Seriously?
This update makes no difference than before the update. Still can’t use impact detection & temperature/humidity limits settings. Maybe the slider series doesn’t have the capability of those features, looked online/user manual & yet found Nathan! Put all aside the updated app version seems to do better without loosing connection to the safe with Wi-Fi.
Has option to name fingerprints but doesn’t seem to work. I also keep getting tamper alerts and unknown fingerprint attempt even thou no one touched the scanner and impact detection set to low. Update Vaultek replace my safe promptly and now all works great.
I’m reading reviews from 1-2 years ago and they all mention how impossible it is to get your safe connected to your Wi-Fi network. Well, it’s 2023 and they still haven’t fixed it. Not sure if it is the software or the Wi-Fi hardware but either way I spent $1,800 on a safe that doesn’t do what it advertises. If you really want a safe that connects to your network, this is not the one.
The wifi safe cost $20 more but you do not get $20 more value from the app. It’s terrible. I. An get it to show the humidity or temperature. I can’t slide the toggle for impact. It’s horrible. Was this app designed by someone with no technical aptitude at all? That’s the only thing I can think. This safe might go back and I might save the $20 or buy a different safe all together. Horrible app.
The app need some attention, it is very slow, the options are limited, for example you can’t change temperature from F to C, it will not do regardless how many time you try. No widget available. The safe is great but the app is not
Can’t even seem to use the app to initially setup your account, despite that being the website recommendation. Continually gives you a “you’ve been disconnected screen” and does not allow you to proceed. Aggravating to say the least, after purchasing a 700$ safe for the added use of wifi connectivity
Safe is ok but the app fails to connect to WiFi even when I try in advanced mode. I’ve tried troubleshooting suggestions and no help. Once, the app even crashed while trying to connect to WiFi. Given the cost of the WiFi option, the app is a disappointment! Don’t waste your money on the WiFi option.
Vaultek's software is very poor, the connection fails frequently, there is no point in paying a high price for their safe, there is not enough product quality to justify the high price, and some are just various gimmicks. If there is a company that makes good-looking smart tactical safes at a reasonable price, that company is not going to survive.
The only reason why I didn’t return this safe, is due to the hope they can fix this. I spent a full two days, in conversations with Vaultek’s tech support, trying to pair the safe with the app/network. While their team was nice and tried everything they could, we still could not connect. REALLY think Vaultek needs to look at all types of the newer routers (ie eero) and keep testing and updating the app and improvements come. Still LOVE the idea of the WiFi capabilities, just wish it could happen. Come on Vaultek, please try to look into this!!!
Vaultek sells itself as a tech savvy option, but this app is not usable. The safe says it is online, and I get notifications on my phone for open doors and such, but the app just says it is offline and there is no real time monitoring of locked status, temperature/humidity, etc.
After a couple of years of working fine, I abruptly get an error indicating I’ve been disconnected, do you want to reconnect… Whether I say yes or no, I get the same result. No connection. This is a prime example of a company with zero focus on its customers. Disappointment is always more severe when we get this after spending a premium on the product. Is this really the extent of your capability? Pathetic. Thanks for robbing me of my money then basically ignoring my needs after the sale. Move on to a different, more customer-centric brand. This isn’t that.
This app needs more work. The safe is awesome, but it seems like a no brained that you should be able to unlock the safe via the app. Please make this a reality in future releases.
This is a terrible app. I upgraded my phone and now it won’t let me connect my safe to my phone. I have even hard reset my safe and tried to setup everything like new and it still doesn’t work. The safe is good but don’t download the app it’s not worth the time or frustration.
I have the vaultek Wi-Fi safe and this app is useless. My phone always says offline but it is online. Have to redo the whole process to get the right status then the next day says offline again. Reset the whole safe removed the app and started fresh. Woke up today and same status says offline but it’s not.
I purchased the NSL20i-BK, and at this price point, the app is pure garbage!! I sincerely hope they are working on some serious software updates. Do not spend money on this product until they get serious about end-to-end support. I haven’t even been able to connect once.
Honestly in 2023 it’s hard to believe that you pay 600 dollars for a safe with Wi-Fi and their app is this bad. Good safe, but worthless app. I was reading the reviews from 2 years ago and people saying the same thing, no hope for them to update the app. Returned the safe yesterday save your money
I just received my NMXI safe and I’m trying to setup the Wi-Fi connection. However, the setup process is telling me that my password is incorrect (I know that isn’t the issue). So, I followed the troubleshooting section to use advanced settings, and it gets all the way to the end, but hands on the last step. Please fix.
Unable to connect my safe for first time use at all. Have tried over and over again. Also, the included instructions only talk about the Bluetooth app and not the WiFi app. Very disappointed in my purchase and will be returning the safe. iPhone 11 on iOS 14.0.1
This app is bad. Like really bad. I couldn’t count the bugs on two hands within the first 5 minutes of using it. Piece of advice...just pay someone to write it natively instead of skating by with half baked quality in some hybrid implementation. This app is too important to not have high quality standards.
This app is junk. I have tried everything in their book and customer support and it doesn’t even pair with the Wi-Fi network. If you bought the safe thinking it will connect via Wi-Fi, ask for your money back.
The safe itself is fine but I have yet to successfully setup Wi-Fi through this app. Knowing this now, I would have bought a less expensive competitor and just done without the Wi-Fi. Very disappointing for a $500 safe
The app is worthless. It will not connect to a eero mesh Wi-Fi system even in 2.4GHz mode. This safe is not worth the money I paid with a half baked, garbage app. The smart features do not work without the app, and the app is completely broken. Tech support is a joke.
I own 5 of these Bluetooth and WiFi - the WiFi app is complete garbage and makes the product effectively worthless. Can’t connect, can’t change settings, the list goes on.
After several attempts to connect, it’s been impossible to make any use of the app since the safe will not connect. Until the connection improves, the app is worthless.
Have had this safe for a few months. Everything was fine with the app then it just quit working. Hope this gets resolved or I’m done with your Wi-Fi products.
