Some improvements but all in all
You can add your own veggies - you just need to look up the info and import a pic if you want some obscure rare vegetable that no one actually ever will eat because kids don’t like new things no matter how much effort you put into growing them. You can add paths to plot things out by shape to be creative because you only get a tiny bit of spot that you need to rope off to keep said kids and the dog out of the only patch of sun you can find. It gives you recommendations for space needed for each veggie so your potatoes don’t grow into the roots of the celery (to detractors this is why you can’t change the space the veggies take up) and it has most of the veggies I need - read: the ones these kids eat anyway. A wish list: If I could just slide the calendars for growing zones it would be helpful - just shift the months over maybe. If I could add circles for container plants like tomatoes.

Lack-luster App, Read this before purchase.
**READ BEFORE PURCHASE** This app has potential but it seems as if the developers just threw it together. First off, when you download and pay for the app, you have to pay for different aspects of the app or else it will be useless. This seems like a sneaky way of getting customers to pay more for the app, multiple times. There is only a small list of vegetables to choose from and the developers curiously omitted some popular vegetables. You can add plants but you have to do your own research to add them which kind of defeats the purpose. Additionally, for some reason parts of the app are in German! You can create your own garden bed but it must be perfectly square. If you have a different shaped bed, you cannot use the plotting feature. When plotting the plants, the type of plant is in such a small font that you cannot see it without zooming in. This is annoying when trying to see the big picture. Often times when zooming or scrolling through the plot you end up accidentally moving the plants around. You cannot scroll all the way down either, the bottom of the screen is cut-off which is very frustrating. The only positive is the ability to quickly figure out companion plants. If I had to do it again I would definitely not purchase I wish I read the comments before. Save your money until they put some effort into the app but it doesn’t seem likely because the same complaints have been present for years.

More please
I think this is a great concept but I can’t finish with over half of the veggies and herbs I plan on planting missing. I realize I have the same complaint as most but really would love to see more varieties added. More squashes, okra, peppers etc. It would be neat to see suggestions for companion flowers as well. As for the climate, yes it would be nice to be able to choose a region and have more accurate information. If it were me I would just remove that part of the app until it could be improved. I would also have to agree with others that being able to edit the size of the beds would be nice. It took me forever to finally figure out how to at least delete one so I could fix it. Additionally it would be cool to be able to map out multiple beds in one screen to see the bigger picture. Also maybe a way to be able to see which plants and how many you’ve used from your list and which ones are left. Again this product seems like it has potential, just isn’t there yet.

Not free, lacks features
Free to download, but costs $3.99 to use it. I went ahead and paid because I really like how the app lets you add your plants in the garden and tells you if they are good together or not, and includes the size of the plant. One thing it is lacking, though, is the capability to have multiple separate gardens. You can only have one garden. In real life, I’d like to make boxed gardens so that I can group together the plants that do well together. Or at least if they added a feature to draw a box inside the garden. Another thing I would like to see them add is a chart that shows which plants prefer shade and which prefer sun, or incorporate it into the garden layout plan. (I did see that you can sort your veggies according to “light needs” which does help.) Also add more plants and flowers! Cantaloupe, summer squash, cherry tomatoes, cilantro are a few plants not included. But they do have the option to add custom veggies, which is nice. Add those features or lower the price and then I’ll give it 5 stars. I would like to add that the reason I was looking for an app like this where I could plan the layout of my garden without thinking about it and without knowing all the plant information is because I am new to gardening and have no clue what I am doing and I did not want to take the time to search out every single plant. The more the app does for me, the better.

Works well for me
I’ve been using this app for several years. I’ve got the full package, and use it to plan my layouts every spring. Let me tell you that I’ve never experienced any of the issues a lot of you are complaining about. It’s all in English. I’ve never seen this German that some are complaining about. You can add plants not on the list, and have multiple varieties of the same plants. There’s a whole lot more that everyone is complaining about that are user issues, not software issues. The only issue I’ve seen that I can understand why some people are complaining about is not being able change the zone. I happen to live in 7b, so it applies to me. But there’s tons of potential users that live outside of 7-8. Surely that’s not rocket science to add it.

Has lots of potential
But the list of vegetables (and fruits) available in the app is very small, especially when you have to pay $1.99 to access the full list. I can’t add winter squash, summer, squash, pickling cucumbers, corn, cantaloupe, cabbage, collard greens, mesculin mix, tarragon, lavender, and different tomato, pepper, eggplant, potato, and onion varieties. I also can’t resize individual plant footprints in the patch plan section, and there’s no way to label the custom plant option they give you (although you can resize that, go figure). One other thing that makes the app annoying to use is that it’s incredibly difficult to actually drag and drop a plant from the menu at the top of the patch plan section. Usually when you think you’ve tapped on the right plant the menu just starts scrolling left and right instead. Glad I only spent $1.99 on this section (separate from the other $1.99 for the list).

So much potential!!!
I love the look of this app, I like the varieties of vegetation it offers in the library and the “list” feature that lets you drag and drop the veggies you want. However I’m a raised beds grower. I need to be able to add more than one garden. There’s another ap called “planter” that lets you have multiple beds but the look of the ap isn’t as good as this one however, that ap does have MUCH more info on the plants. Tells you how to grow them, when to plant them how to water companion plants, combative plants, possible pests and diseases etc all right there in the info sheet for each plant. You don’t have to go to a separate “neighbor” window like in this ap. Although I do like the little heart that appears when you place stuff near each other on this ap. Please please PLEASE take a look at the features in the “planter” ap and bring them to this one! I hate having to plan my garden on this ap and then jump over to the other ap whenever I need to know how to manage a plant. 1. This ap needs info cards like they have on the “planter” ap 2. This app NEEDS raised bed compatibility!!! I have 4 (4x4) raised beads, I need to be able to have 4 (4x4) gardens to work with in this ap.

Can be improved
The overall idea of how this app is suppose to work is sound but it needs some improvements. Although there is a menu to sort your veggies, it doesn’t work. The veggie list doesn’t contain some commonly grown varieties such as leaf lettuce, snow peas, bush beans and Lima beans. You have to add them as custom veggies. The attributes for the custom veggies is written in German. It allows you to add the same veggie to your list twice without asking if that is what you want to do. You can’t group part of your garden and move it to another location in the plot planner. There is no undo button in the plot planner. And finally this app was advertised as being free but you have to buy access to all the veggies and the plot planner. Make these improvements and you have a great app.

Needs improvements
Lovely idea. There are a couple things that need to be improved . The language in the section to add your own plants is not in English and not in Spanish. I’m guessing German. The plants preinstalled are general and not correct for companion planting like... kale and onions are friends, this app says neutral, but then on the planner is shows up as not compatible. Also it would be nice for the planner to populate the best place to put the plants. I thought I would enter that I have 72 tomato plants and 28 kale and 52 cucumbers, then the app would make a suggestion According to the information on hand. Nope. You definitely have to plan it just like in paper. I also hope we can change the zone in future updates. I’m in zone 5, so parts of the app are not useful for me. Otherwise great concept.

Some Limited Herbs and Vegetables, otherwise great App!!
The app is easy to use and allows you to build your plots with names. Also, you can add vegetables and herbs, but you need to research seeding, transplant, and harvest time along with sun, water, and if it depletes nutrients. One very important features is what it grows well with and what should be avoided. In the plot view as you drag and drop veggies and herbs onto the plot, a heart or lightening bolt show up, allowing you to reposition the plant. After you build your list for “My Vegetables “ a calendar view can be selected for all your seeding and planting dates. Basil, Chives, Dill, Rosemary, Parsley, Sage, Thyme are the only Herbs included. Oregano, Shallot, and Scallions are not included, but you can add them. I bought both the premium versions as I’m planting a combination of 27 vegetables and herbs in three raised beds, a herb garden, and ten grow bags. This app is great! I would like to share or sync with my iPad and iPhone.

SO much potential
I pay for this app because it’s only three dollars and some thing a year. The main downside to this app the limited amount of vegetables would be nice to expand the number of plants already in the system but it is nice to be able to add any plants you want. it would be nice for your information to be cross platform as in transferring data from different devices on iCloud so you can access your garden on multiple devices. The calendar and garden planner I would say my most used parts of the app.

Zones 7-8, free download is a demo version
Good start for this app. I was hoping to be able to set the zone and adjust the dates according to my knowledge of growing in my area. Being able to create different shapes of garden bed would also be nice. Reasonable price for the full application if the zone suits your needs, especially considering the developers respect for user data (it isn’t using location etc, where other garden apps for different developers I had looked at where basically taking any information they could get...not necessary for this). Given the respect for the user, I would purchase this if the features get built up more even if the purchase price goes up (as it stands, it’s not super helpful for my location and needs, but I like what I see in it regardless). I’ve seen fully featured garden software but it required an annual subscription; I’d rather pay a flat fee to purchase use of an app or software.

Nice app if you buy the add-ons
I downloaded the free app to plan my veggie beds. I had to pay an additional $2.20 twice ($4.40 total) to get to the point where I could access additional types of veg I wanted and customize the beds and save them. I love the feature that shows what plants “play nicely” together, it makes laying out the beds so easy. For 5 stars they need to expand the list of veg you can select, provide more in-depth planting and seeding advice for each veg type, and just charge $2.99 right up front - because the app isn’t very useful without the add-ons.

No scaling or zoom on a phone...need to add fruits
This app has potential, but could be better with user testing. Would be nice to have an add/edit capability to create custom function for adding items to the calendar and notes for each vegetable/fruit in my list. Speaking of fruits...berry bushes, vines, fruit trees? Useless if you grow a backyard orchard or other common fruiting plants. As for the planning tool, would be more useful if I it was less clunky. It has a huge learning curve that is too complicated to deal with. All of that said, I do like the app, but would give more stars if it were more flexible to edit and customizable.

Needs adjustable zones, even if they’re locked behind a paywall
I bought the upgrade to the list of vegetables and while I’m happy with my purchase (which was half off) it really, really needs adjustable zones to be useful for anyone outside of 7 and 8. I’m in 5b so most of the dates with planting and harvesting are off by up to a month. I like the feature that shows which plants can or can’t live next to each other, and the recent update that added more plants make me optimistic for the future, but adjustable zones are pretty much a need.

Easy and useful but...
I love how easy and useful this app is to use. But it’s set to USDA hardiness Zone 7 so the calendar and planting times they state in app are not useful to me. But everything else is. I wish there was a way to change your hardiness Zone but it’s a minimal nuisance. There’s many resources to figure out what Zone you’re in and then the back of a seed packet will tell you when to plant the seed. I especially love the visual garden planning features. It’s been so helpful. And that I can add in my own vegetables or fruit.

Limited app
Limited vegetable and herb list. Cannot edit a plan or delete it. That is, once you have set your dimensions, you cannot adjust them. I would recommend an app that gives more choices. However, this one is easy to use. Don’t waste your money paying for the additional vegetable list. It isn’t much better than the free version. It doesn’t include a lot of common vegetables like certain greens, sweet potatoes, asparagus, etc. Add more veggies & herbs please!

Perfect Vegetable Garden App!
I love this app. This is my 2nd year using it. This makes planning so easy because it lets you plot out your garden spaces by entering the dimensions and location of each one and then shows you how much space you need for each plant. It also easily shows you what you can plant next to what. The veggie descriptions are extremely helpful for soil, light, water and nutrient needs. Highly recommend!

Needs more veggies and different zones
This app is great and is really useful but they need more veggies. I think the app also needs to have an option where you can change the zone. Zones determine when you should be planting a specific plant. Examples are like if you live in Florida , your zone is very different than if you live in Michigan and why you may plant in Florida in December you cannot plant in Michigan in December. I think that would be a key feature to add to this app but overall really helpful

Great app, but missing one key feature!
The growing calendar is only for hardiness zone 7-8, which leaves out most of the US. If you could adjust your zone and the calendar would adjust accordingly, that would be great. Additionally, a more detailed calendar with notifications of when to plant/sow/transplant would be amazing. I’d definitely change this rating to 5 stars if the zone could be changed.

Amateur aspirations to Decent Harvest
I’ve been utilizing this app for probably about 3-4 years now. It’s user friendly interface has allowed me to increase my basic knowledge about planning and planting, especially realizing positive and poor adjacent companions as well as plotting the rotation of my plants to maintain nutrient dense soil health. It’s one of two go-to gardening apps I use year after year!

Misleading information
After paying to “unlock” all the veggies, I trusted the information on this app. After planting half my garden I saw the app tells you tomatoes and bell peppers aren’t good neighbors.(I knew that they are) so after I knew it was getting false information I googled a couple things that I already planted next to one another... (cabbage next to tomatoes for instance) now thanks to this app I have to dig up multiple things and STILL plan where to put them using google lol The actual garden planner in the app doesn’t work either I didn’t care until I realized nothing in this app worked lol Thanks for waisting my time and taking my money.

App Fails to Purchase
App fails to process payment. Had to try a dozen different times to get the app to process the upgrade. It would just bring a prompt, “Purchase failed. Something went wrong try again later.” After multiple attempts it finally went through, that app works great! Love it! Wish it had more options and ability to plan multiple beds at once.

Zone 7 only?
As any gardener knows, zone location is fundamental to garden planning. The app starts up by telling you that the information it provides is based on zone 7 and “to please adapt accordingly.” This renders the app useless for anyone outside of zone 7 as I did not find a setting where you can adjust the app so I assume they intend for you to do the adapting. I thought that is why we use apps to begin with-to do the calculations?? Anyway, I feel like the unlucky one because the app layout and feature seem otherwise fantastic.

Catalog
I downloaded and paid for the app. Missing some key veggies like Bell Peppers, sweet peppers, winter squash. Recommend adding all categories from a seed catalog. Will this be added into a version upgrade?? Would like to see companion flower pollinators go along with the veggies. Besides my suggestions, I like the option of creating multiple beds with dimensions and the heart (good) or lightning bolt (bad) display when dragging a veggie into the the bed. 3-stars because there is lots of room for improvements.

Needs more veggies, plot options & zones
Not even a single squash on the list, we’ll...squash family but not winter or summer squash options. Can’t change the zone. Works great if you’re in....Seattle I think? Limited veggies, strawberry the only fruit. Only allows one big plot, not the option for multiple (like most raised beds) so you have to save each bed individually. Partially my fault for purchasing without digging into it much but at least it was a good price. Like the beneficial/harmful options for companion planting.

Has real potential, but limiting
I’ve been using the app for a few weeks now, and it has great potential, hence the 3stars. Pretty easy to use and fair starter crop names. But...... 1) it would be nice to see the plan in it’s entirety, not just by section. And to be able to edit the sizes without having to create a whole new one. 2) more vegetables, herbs and companion plants would be nice. The list is too small. Yes you can add a custom plant, but library itself should be better for a paid app. 3) you have soil depletion data but not water needs? Or is that just a bad translation? 4) last but not least, you have a tiny disclaimer saying that zones are set to USDA 7-8..... and that users should adjust mentally accordingly. Really??? Bottom line...... lazy developer, decent app but unless revamped, will not be useful going forward.

Deceiving advertising
I got a pop-up that offered to buy access to the app at a discounted price for a limited time only. I decided to purchase the app, but it was only access to the extra veggies, but not the patch planner. You can’t really use one without the other, so I really don’t understand why they are offered to be purchased separately! And it was not a limited time price, it’s always the same price. Purchasing access to the whole app isn’t much money and I would have happily done so, but since I thought I was getting a good deal, now I feel cheated and I don’t want to use the stupid thing anymore.

Frustrating
I can’t believe there’s only a handful of plants on this app. I purchased the full version thinking that I would “unlock” tons of different plants and be able to actually plan a garden where I live. Missing really simple things. For example “zucchini” is supposed to cover every type of squash that there is. Totally not friendly to customize. Agree with the other reviewers about not being able to read what’s on the planner anyway because it is so small, and you can’t zoom in without messing everything up, and the bottom part of it is cut off.

Not helpful
The idea is fantastic. Being able to see companion plants is great! But this is quite useless if we can’t pick our zone. I’ll have to keep referring back to the seed packets or the internet so I’d be doing twice the work. Since I can’t change the zone, I didn’t bother buying it. The demo garden plot was lacking in features (not able to add flowers, shrubs, etc) and I couldn’t change the size of it. Not sure if that’s available in the full version or not. If we could change our hardiness zone then I would be happy to buy it!

The list of veggies is so small. I wish it also had more medicinal herbs. They have another app that is 99 cents which like I would pay for if it were an add on library to this app. I companion plant and want to see how all of my garden is going to work together. So this is great for a basic start but I will have to do more research on some of the plants I want to add to my garden. So is it worth $3.90 prob not. Likely wont renew it after this year. Unless there is more added to the library and such.

Really great gardening app for gardening!
First off I do wish it had the option to switch zones to a desert climate since I’m in zone 9. It’s PERFECT for designing a custom size with all the main vegetables to choose from. It would be even better if they included herbs and flowers. Nothing is more annoying to spend hours of time looking up just a few items only to have them fail because they don’t do well together. This app does great at telling you what plants to put next to each other and how much sun it needs. Wish I had this 3 years ago when I started gardening in Arizona. Please make it possible to adjust the zones in future development. This will be amazing!

Love the idea and several features , BUT! - I live in zone 6A and would like an option to change planting times for your zone - I am working on designing a greenhouse with several beds in it and want to be able to have more than one bed visible on my plant patch at a time. I would also like the size template for garden beds to have feet and inches instead of only feet, this is really limiting. These three things are making me look elsewhere for an app to plan my garden

Small Plant Inventory, Waste of Time and Money
Do NOT spend ANY money for this app. They have an extremely limited list of plants (Fruits, Vegetables, Herbs). I paid $3.99 for the “Patch Planner” but I cannot even plan out my garden as it does not even have the majority of the very common garden plants that I am growing! Horrible app simply because of the extremely limited plant inventory. I want my money back! I am incredibly disappointed. This app is unusable without a proper inventory. I have a variety of over 35 types of common, everyday fruits, vegetables, and herbs in my garden and this app maybe covers 5 of them... it is absurd.

I wrote a detailed review which disappeared at send. We’ll see if it shows up in the App Store at a later date. At best, this is a totally disabled demo. The screen shots of what they think it can do are no different to this working app as you first install it. You can choose only one vegetable. That’s it. Nothing else works. How could it? Info for German Climate only
Nowhere in the description does it say that plant and harvest times are based on German climate only (yet it’s available in the US App Store??). There’s no way to customize the app for your local climate. The free version has info for only 12 uncommon veggies; for $1.99 you can unlock info on a meager list of additional veggies but it’s definitely not worth it. The app is still pretty new so maybe future updates will add more features but as of today, it needs a lot of work!

Sorry I Made The Purchase
Want to have a map of my garden. Turns out that needed an additional download and fee. Still says demo, not sure why. Maybe more time with it may lessen my disappointment but I don’t think it was meant for serious gardeners. I just want to show the location of my garden plants with an easy to edit listing of varieties. I double and triple crop and don’t see a way to simply display that. I do notice that others have mostly rated it higher. I guess You should read their reviews.

This has most of the plants people grow in home gardens, but it’s missing scallions and other herbs in it’s provided list. As many reviewers have mentioned, not enough veggies. Should be able to set planting zone. Map is flaky, showed distances then they disappeared...not sure how to delete a map, or at least it’s not straightforward. Some information seems to contradict what seed packets recommend. Developers still have a lot of work to do and shouldn’t be charging more than a dollar with the app in its current condition.

What’s the point of downloading an app you can’t really use unless you keep paying for random lists? It makes me feel like I’m being nickeled and dimed just to get the basic functions of the app I was interested in when I downloaded it. With all of the issues with this app that I am seeing and reading about, it is silly to have all these in-app fees that don’t even give people everything they want for their garden. Just make the app a flat fee.

I thought this app was everything I wanted until I purchased it and realized not much more was added on. With access to the inter webs you would think you could add endless plants. But my biggest pet peeve is that you can’t change the zone. So that means I have to open up the net look something up and adjust the dates. Which is what I should have done in the first place. Useless if I have to do all the research myself. I thought apps were there to make things easier !
