*Updated* Good Start
So far so good. The updates for the initial bugs have really helped. Look forward to the possibility of landscape mode on iPhone. Biggest downfall right now and what keeps me going back to the website instead of the app is there's no wave information in the app. My job is on the water so that's a significant loss in my book. Look forward to seeing that as an addition. *As the developer said in their response to my original review, it would take a bit, but they came through as promised and the wave height has been added with all the other features they've put in so far. It works great! And now information I need daily for work is quickly and easily accessible and I can even get updates while out on the boat if needed as long as we are near shore and get cell service. The app is much smoother to operate on-the-go over the website (not criticizing the website, merely thinking of ease of use on a smartphone) and now has all the features for forecasting a day or several working out on the water. Thank you!*

Incredibly valuable
As a private pilot, I love this app. It gives an incredibly valuable overview of how the air is moving, and how it’s expected to change. The visual display gives you an intuitive sense that’s hard to get any other way. It also shows details, like patches of winds you might not anticipate from a Surface Analysis, METARs, TAFs, or winds aloft. Other layers like temps, air pressure, Thunderstorms and freezing levels also help build your understanding of the day’s conditions. And it’s fun to look at big picture stuff all around the world. Two minor complaints: Value numbers can be impossible to read against dark colored areas like storms, and don’t increase in size when you zoom in. Wind streak lines are a bit short. I’d like to see more custom display settings like on the web version.

Overall very useful and great visualizations, use of data. But there is a data issue.
I use the app frequently as we are at an altitude where wind can be a concern. Being able to see wind speed at various altitudes helps greatly. Just one thing: there’s a bug in the app when I happened to tap on the farthest day out (current day + 7, last three times of the day) where the shown wind speed jumps up to 230mph for all locations. Clearly this is a null data problem and not really an issue for normal use of the app. Just wanted to flag it so the developer can add it to the bug list. Which is my only other issue with the app: the developer has many obstacles to getting in touch, providing feedback, etc. I’m posting this info here in App Store feedback as I’m hoping the developer is bothering to check this feedback. Recent lack of developer replies maybe suggests this won’t happen though.

Thank you for the Aurora Borealis pictures!
Thanks to the “Aurora Probability %” feature (paid feature), I was able to time the exact moment it would be visible over my house. I live near the city so I only had about 20 minutes before it passed, and you bet I made the most of it! But you’re here for the weather info right? The free version of the app is tremendous if you appreciate quality user performance and accuracy. Changing from all the different radar views is seamless and beautiful. If you value your privacy, take a look at what kind of data most weather apps collect and then take a look at Ventusky. Ventusky doesn’t store ANY data and yet I’m still able to get location based alerts. Really kind of makes you wonder why all those apps store your location and purchase history (no seriously) in order to “provide you all of our features” when they literally don’t. What I want to see: I like tornadoes and I like geometric shapes like triangles. Let’s get some tornado path triangles drawn and some hurricane path outlines soon please 🙏. Always support apps like Ventusky and dark sky (rip)

Goto Weather App
I use multiple weather apps during a given week. I use the quick and simple apps if I am on the run like Storm. I love Radar Omega but its got a lot more that most people would need and it has a lot of knobs and dials to play with. As for my Goto weather app, its hands down Ventusky. I love the wind forecast as well as the ability to switch between forecasting models. Ventusky has it all in one package. Someone who is looking for a good all around weather app I would recommend getting the premium subscription for Ventusky. I also see you now have Apple Watch widgets which is another must have when purchasing a weather app. Keep up the great work. -larry

Good app... but one gripe
I really enjoy using this app for weather. It gives you a detailed look at tons of different variables and helps you better understand how the weather around you works. My biggest gripe is that I always accidentally tap off of my current location when I pan around the map. There are two ways I think this could be fixed. First, consider letting users choose between “tap” and “long press” on the map to set a new location. Second, instead of having to tap the search button and then current location, give us the ability to have a current location button always available on the map (just like Google Maps). This is such a frustrating experience for me when using the app and is the main reason I didn’t give this a 5/5.

2 stars to 3 stars
When I initially wrote this review I got this app because of the detail you can see with it on an hourly time frame. At the time of writing my initial review I rated 2 stars because after an update the 1 hour time frame was not an option anymore. Now the 1 hour time frame is back as an option so I will bump it 3 stars. My reasoning is even though the 1 hour is an option as it moves through each 1 hour time frame on a majority of them the weather doesn’t change at all until every 3rd 1 hour time frame frame. Also because of the developer response I got from my initial 2 star review stating that the 1 hour time frame being removed as an option was not true. I had the app open in front of my very eyes, searched through numerous settings to try to find the 1 hour time frame that was not showing anymore.

Love it
Came from “myradar” after that went downhill. Found the website, which is awesome, that led me here. Had an issue with the app not showing the forecast, coincidentally this is while a co-worker was trying tp get some customer service from cricket wireless. After a few hours of my coworker trying to resolve a fairly simple issue I sent am email to Ventusky. They responded with an hour with the solution to my problem. My coworker never got her issue fixed. The funny part is how a weather company in Chzecslacavia was able to resolve my issue quickly, while cricket wireless couldn't figure put how to get a subscriber to navigate their website. Hilarious.

Got Weather
I live on the coast in North Carolina. I have been using the Ventusky app for at least a decade now it has been my experience that the Ventusky app is just as accurate as any of the NOAA weather reports, because Ventusky gets their same reports from the same models that NOAA uses. It is real important, living on the coast to track the storms and be able to prepare, and Ventusky kept me from having my vehicle flooded during October 2018 when the remains of hurricane Michael passed over us and exited land above Virginia Beach. This is one weather app that I trust. For the price it’s really worth it especially if you live in Weather prone area.

Really the Best Weather App
I’ve used a couple of other weather apps in the past and they were just okay. Dark Sky was my favorite but Apple just rolled their algorithm into their not great app. I used Ventusky for the cloud forecast info for astronomy for a bit, but have started to use it for all of the other features - and wow!! The weekly temperature forecast is great, as well as AQI and sunrise/set. It is so helpful to have all this info in one place. The only supplement I use is NOAA’s forecast info for a broad overview of the weather coming up and alerts/notifications of severe weather. Otherwise Ventusky is all you need.

Simply the best
As years went by, I’ve tried a lot of weather apps to find the one that I like ,leaving this review after a year of using Ventusky. There’s a lot of apps out there that have radar but not like Ventusky I like to view where you can zoom out and see the world see what coming off the coast our way. Having all the layers for wind ,freezing level, radar, Air pressure, to name a few has been helpful In making decisions like pouring concrete decisions in Long Range Shooting, decisions in my every day life. Thank you Ventusky don’t change a thing!! Simply the best out there!!

Best weather app
There are some things that could be easier when trying to look at general weather for a week or 2. Which is what most apps do. This app on the other hand lets you get down to the exact area and hour and plan accordingly. I have used it to schedule my sports practices. Being able to predict rain or no rain within a mile is fantastic. The wind speed and gusts visualizations are great too. It could do better at lightening strikes. I have to use a separate app for that. Since practice and games are delayed with strikes in a certain perimeter.

Just what I was looking for!
This is the app I have been looking for. Something to show me the more detailed aspects of the weather. The interface is good and the rending of the layers is crisp and fast. The recent addition of the widget is welcome as well. However, the said widget has one bug. When there is a high wind warning it displays the wind gusts out to a insane number of decimal places. I’m sure this will be addressed soon and I am looking forward to more layers and functionality in the future. This could very well become a best seller weather app for those wanting more than just your basic type weather app!

Pretty solid - Could be improved
To start off, I’ll say that I like the app. I’m a pilot, so having some detailed information about the weather is something I usually keep in my pocket and this app does that well. For US users, it could be improved. For winds aloft, it would be nice to choose statue mph and nautical mph. For US users, it would be nice to have state outlines in the map. As it is, it’s a challenge to get a big picture of weather systems because as you zoom out to see each system, you lose reference to the specific geographic location. Having state outlines would be very helpful. For US users, and this is probably my #1 issue with the app, is having the winds aloft being presented in meters. Changing the unit in the settings does not change the winds aloft in the map. You have to choose 3500 meters if you want to see what the winds are like around 11,500 ft. Very annoying. But it’s a great app and I hope they improve it. I’d like to be able to recommend it to other pilots. 4 stars from me. iPhone X / IOS 11.4.1 / runs well

Masterpiece
It sounds weird to call a weather app a masterpiece, but for the genre, it definitely is. Ventusky could drop the mic and walk away, and everyone would get it. This app is an awesome and complete weather app. If you are a weather buff, finding this app is like porking a supermodel, and her more attractive friend, at the same time, while slapping that behind and yelling “who’s your daddy?!” …. Who’s you daddy?! … that’s right I am you’re daddy and don’t you forg ….. uh, hmmm, I digress. Apologies, I lost myself for a minute. How embarrassing. Anyway, great app. Thank you so much for writing it.

Phenomenal app, one minor annoyance
The functionality of the app is excellent, I use it constantly. I just wish that when I drop a pin (for example, on my house) the pin stayed there. Instead merely tapping the screen somewhere moves it. If we could input and save a “home address” (and possibly additional addresses, since we might want to track vacation properties, grandparents homes, etc) this app would then be PERFECT. Or just save multiple pin locations. It’s very annoying that I have to zoom in and find my rough home location every single time I use the app, just so I know which wind gusts apply to me

Great app, but sometimes it doesn't work
5 stars because I highly recommend it. By far the best tool I've seen for predicting the weather at very specific geographic locations. Much better than typical weather apps and pages. And, it provides all sorts of helpful additional detail. The app works even better than the website. But, there's a problem. Starting a few weeks ago, the app would not load on my iPad. It would start to load and then just die. My iPad is up to date and I've restarted it multiple times. Without the Ventusky app running, I cannot get support nor report a problem. The App Support button on the App store simply takes you to the website, which does not help. Fortunately, I guessed at a solution: Delete the app from the iPad, the install it again from the App Store. That worked. But users shouldn't have to go to that much trouble. Developers, please fix this.

Beautiful and informative
I love this app. Beautiful design, great weather information. Can’t believe it’s free. Unfortunately, I don’t need the features that would make the upgrade to subscription level worth it - I don’t like paying subscription fees for any app - but I would willingly pay a reasonable purchase price for what is provided here for free. Only improvement I would suggest is being able to fully collapse the daily weather info on the bottom and have the full screen available for the radar/wind graphics.

This is the best weather app
Bought this app a year ago due to the UX frustration with Apple Weather (darksky), weather underground, accue weather, etc. it was great then and it just keeps getting better. It now has reasonable wave data in addition to wind and freeze level height. The User Experience and UI actually work on a small screen, and work exceptionally well. Kudos Note to the developer - thank you for the pleasant experience! And if you get a chance, adding tide information is my vote for the next layer :-)

Wanted to like it don’t understand the ratings it’s received so
most advanced weather app? Hardly no street level data just a gray background for the map? It’s a great App for showing all the data there’s no level two radar options in the US no USGS maps satellite maps all I get is a gray background even free apps off or more. This app has a great potential but for what you pay and what you get sorry it just doesn’t make it. Been using the app for less than three weeks I’ve already had to uninstall and reinstall twice because it failed to open it would give you the initial splash screen and then exit the application still evidently very buggy. Not ready for prime time and definitely not worth the subscription price.

Decent weather app - widgets need fixing though
The weather is pretty cool. Found it while googling weather apps online and thought I’d try it out. It offers a lot of free access to your basic options. But there are premium options as well if you want to really get into it. One thing I did notice that should be fixed or given an option are the widgets. My app is set to F for Fahrenheit, but the widget still displays Celsius. Need an option to change that or reflect on what the app is using. Other than that, I’m enjoying this weather app! Thank you

Visualize the Weather
I prefer weather maps to tables of weather data. I like to see how weather systems and pressure systems are moving over time. Ventusky provides map layers for temperature, wind speed, precipitation, and more. Being able to see the animated wind currents allows me to understand the weather patterns wherever I am. Plus, seeing the “L” and “H” markers for low- and high-pressure systems is incredibly informative. The animated wind currents flowing into and out of those systems even helped my kids understand what low- and high-pressure systems *are*.

Great app - needs better day forecast
This is a great app with tons of information! In general I’m a fan of the interface, map, and sliders. However, the metrogram is a little small and hard to read on iPhones. It would be nice to have the metrogram more front and center, potentially a setting so that it’s the the first thing you see when opening the app. Also, a zoom function on the metrogram would be welcome to show only 5 or 10 days at a time to make the graphs more legible.

Hurricanes?
I live on the southern Atlantic coast and during hurricane season this app is excellent for tracking the the perspective path of each storm. I find that this app is a better and more reliable source than most weather reporting. Rob is the only weather guy on television that my wife won’t let me talk when he’s on. This app allows me to forgo watching her watch him give her the weather. This app seems to say the same that Rob tells us. Thank you for allowing me to not have to watch my wife watch the weather guy.

Weather app that doesn’t tell weather *UPDATED*
I work outside an use this app to see how much snow is on the forecast. This app has extremely inaccurate snow totals as it is currently telling me to expect 0.04 inches of precipitation in the next three hours. I’ve gotten more snow than that since I started typing my this review. I would think snowfall totals are a basic necessity for a weather app The developer responded telling me I need to multiply the precipitation values by 10 in order to get the snow cover. That is still inaccurate because that would mean there is 0.4 inches of snow on the ground. There is currently 2 feet. The developer also stated I could simply use the snow cover map layer. That’s just as useless because it’s telling me there is 4 inches in the ground. Try 24

Easy to use, extensive information
I have turned on many of my friends onto this app because I love it so much,I don’t share things that don’t work and that are not comprehensive or accurate or effective. This app is wonderful and easy to use. I use it every time I go out especially if I’m boating or going to the beach because the wind can really impact those outings. I find this app a lot more engaging than many other weather related apps! Best money I ever spent!!

Not bad.
Although the precipitation future radar map often does not match the app’s actual data it is still the best future radar map since Dark Sky was annihilated by Apple. I don’t know why they can’t have continuous radar map instead of jumping from hour to hour, as well, I frequently still wonder how Dark Sky was able to have such accurate future radar mapping, continuous also, not discontinuous… and all on a globe that could be spun any direction -I learned so much about whether around the world from that app…come on Ventusky, your coders can do that too.

Awesome App!
This is hands down the best app for weather, but it has so much more than just typical weather. It includes sea level, currents, winds, thunderstorms etc. and you can look anywhere in the world! I purchased Clime last year but their price went up to $80 per year and does half of what Ventusky does. Not to mention, Clime was wrong 90% of the time. It was only $10 for the year but I’m definitely going to be sticking with this app. You won’t regret it!

Fully Loaded!
As most people know, weather is very fickle, and difficult to predict accurately. Ventusky has come closer than any weather app that I currently use. Boating and fishing are my go to activities, thus wind is a very important factor when planning an on the water day, and Ventusky has rarely failed to predict accurately. Hardly a stone unturned in this app with all the features available from wind gusts, sea heights, water temperature, and much more. I highly recommend this app whenever weather is a factor in making a plan.

I Love this App. It forces me to educate myself.
I’ve had this app for several years. This is not a lowest common denominator weather app. In other words, it’s sophisticated & very accurate. With information and data a professional or avid meteorologist would require. I guess I’m saying it’s not a dumbed down app with averages and general info. I especially like the touch map location change. Touch the map to change your location. I am below the “novice” category user. But I manage to muddle my way through and I’m constantly learning more and more. I probably use the wind speed mode most often. I live in Abbott, AR. near the Arkansas/Oklahoma line called Arklahoma. Where we can have high and gusting winds 30 to 60 mph. Sometimes higher… Not to mention tornado activity. Especially in the spring.

Fun and informative
I don’t need to see what the weather patterns in Czechoslovakia are but it’s fun to be able to. It is pretty cool to look at the wind currents throughout the world and see how it affects your particular neck of the woods. I like that this is much more in-depth than you’re a typical app. For instance I have heard that there was a big storm coming to the west coast of the United States and it was not something that was notable on a regular weather app but looking here I could see what was on its way.

My favorite live weather app
I've used this app for a couple years now, and I've loved it since I first downloaded. This is by far the best live radar with an interface that is wildly ahead of anything else you'll see from any sort of weather station. All the technical additions and displays are so interesting to use, and it's awesome to scroll across the globe. Couldn't speak more highly overall, very deserving of 5 stars.

A clean visualization of weather models and large scale weather patterns.
I have been searching far and wide for an app that shows the HRRR precipitation model. This app does that and more in a very easy to use and visually appealing way. It’s obvious that the developer cares and is actually responding to feedback from customers and working hard to make it even better. I highly recommend this app for those looking for a clean visual presentation of weather models for forecasting and visualizing large scale weather patterns.

This is the best weather site I have used. it provides accurate long range weather information assisting in preparing for any type of event. I started using it during a past hurricane. I followed the storm days in advance as it approached while it was on top of us and after it past. I use it daily to check for all reasons. I have suggested it to businesses who need to know weather for scheduling jobs. Please keep up the great work!

Help us snow machine riders
I have used your web site for snowmachine (yes it’s snowmachine not snowmobile in Alaska) info for years. (Cloud cover and precipitation amount for visibility) it has been very helpful as cloud cover can vary from one mountain pass to the one next door. The problem is it’s hard to judge which pass your looking at with the blank background. If you could add a satellite overlay (or underlay maybe?) that would be amazing and make this the #1 weather app I believe. Maybe add a simple forecast page also for those who don’t want to spend the time.

The app has great weather maps. I can see the current forecast quickly and also has tons of additional information if I really want to study it. Everything I want in a weather app. Many other apps can accomplish the above. But what really makes me love this weather app is there commitment to their user’s privacy. If I ever think my data isn’t being respected I will drop it instantly.

as good as Darksky, way better than Apple weather
-projects twice as far in future as the Apple weather. – has full globe view of global weather – has many more options on what it will display i than Apple weather. – by default, it shows wind patterns – interface more more complicated, and harder to figure out than darksky, the part of that is due to the increase number of features.

Wow! If you love knowing all of the specific weather data for a location then you will love this app! The graphics are phenomenal and easy to understand, and the app is fairly intuitive. The only things I haven't been able to find in it are push notifications (for real-time precipitation notices and daily forecasts) but with all of this great info it's well worth the cost for the pro license.

Forecast Local Weather
The detailed specifics of Ventusky allow the user to see more clearly what future atmospheric conditions have in store. West coast weather impacts can easily be analyzed to assist in projecting wind, humidity and temperature estimates during the region’s chronic drought. The app’s air quality feature helps anticipate unhealthy exposure to wildfire smoke and inversions. This is an essential tool when dealing with the many challenges of climate change.

Almost Great
It’s one of the best weather apps I’ve found since Weather Underground turned into garbage many years ago. Still, it’s awkward to use. There needs to be easier ways to set the current location and reset the view to “current time” after sliding into the future. The interface is design over function and is often frustrating. Again though, it’s better than 99% of the weather apps out there and at least isn’t owned by The Weather Channel or Accuweather…yet.

I had used the free version for a few years. I upgraded to the paid version a few months ago. Since the upgrade both on my phone and iPad, it freezes at the log-in screen every couple of days. Maybe my favorite app of all!
Love that this still works on iOS 12 and I can repurpose an old iPad mini as a weather station. The simplicity of this is a delight and I want to throw money at the developers purely in gratitude…especially as it’s ad-free even in the base version. Two things would make it the best app ever written: 1. Automatically keeping up with the time instead of staying fixed on the last selected time. 2. A full screen version that just shows the map without the time bar. That would be worth buying an iPad just to run this on …. and I would pay even more for that visual joy. Thank you so much for making this, keeping it free of garbage ads and allowing it to run on old hardware.

I started using Ventusky after it was announced that Dark Sky was being discontinued. I like it overall, because it has pretty much all the weather information I want/need. I find the presentation a bit overwhelming, though. So MUCH info! The one thing I wish was front and center is the radar map view that shows where the rain is. Great app! Font size is a problem.
The main thing I would adjust for usability is the font sizes. If text is too small to read and I zoom in, the font instantly shrinks again. It’s very frustrating to have to pull out magnifying glasses to read the numbers. Color scaling helps figure it out the temp numbers sometimes, but without scale bars it also means pulling out reading glasses.
