Perfect! Yes the app is limited but look at what your getting in return?? The best savings rate out there! Put your money in a local big bank and get less than a percent in interest. I just opened an online saving account and have dealt with the customer service and it’s been awesome. Thanks for offering a great online savings account rate. Oh and btw you can always pull up the browser on you phone and make a transfer through your phones browser too you know lol. 🤯😂. Update......Do keep in mind though I will say if I did have one complaint it would be the speed of the transactions. They will hold your money for a min of 5 days. I made a deposit on December 6th amd it is still not showing in my available balance but they did take the money from my local bank on Monday so keep that in mind. Thanks Vio!

I created a VIO bank account in mid-July and then was unable to access it at all for over a month. I kept reaching out to the company, but they didn’t reply for 5-6 weeks. Meanwhile, my $100 initial deposit just sat there. When I finally got ahold of someone, I spent 45 minutes on the phone with her resetting my password THREE TIMES because it kept saying the new password was wrong. She even gave me a temporary password and that didn’t even work. It was by pure chance that I was finally able to log in. The online banking is not superior whatsoever, but this app is completely useless. I can’t remember my password since I had to change it 4 times the other day, and on the app there’s no “forgot password?” link to click on. So I guess I just have to wait until I can get on my computer to try to figure out how to access my VIO funds. Plus, the app does just a tiny fraction of what the website does, and the information the app will show you makes the whole thing pretty useless altogether. If you’re going to bank with VIO, be ready for ALL ONLINE BANKING and NO MOBILE banking. I am very disappointed. I’ve tried many, many banking companies, and this one is a) no better financially and, more importantly, b) the worst online banking app I’ve ever come across. I wouldn’t have put my money into VIO if I’d known what an absolutely impossible and frustrating experience it would be. Already searching for another savings account.

A couple of years ago I decided to get the highest interest rate I could for my emergency fund. Today I heard on a podcast a mention of another bank for high interest rate - but I confirmed, VIO is still my choice. My account gained $150 last year; Compared to $18 if I left that money in my brick-and-mortar bank. I’ve called to discuss my accounts a few times, and have always been satisfied with the experience.

I’m glad to have some extra funds to start building my new savings account with Vio. Unfortunately my computer is broken and with my goal to save money for other things it has become impossible to add savings to my Vio account. I really would like to see an update where I can transfer funds from my checking to my savings. It was so easy to do on a computer, it is not possible without one. That is my problem now. I realize the app has not been a priority but I truly feel like Vio banking would become supremely popular if you just added this one feature. I want to watch my high yield savings grow but I can’t do that until I figure out a time to go find a computer to use- which is extremely inconvenient. Thanks

The app is there and it functions, for what it is. It is in desperate need of some updates, it seems to be just a stripped down basic version, but it does work. It would be nice to have more account information available like current interest rates of your accounts, access to your account numbers Incase you need it, etc, just simply more information. I’m all about security but sometimes the verification questions are getting very annoying, there are other simpler ways to secure an account than asking questions from your credit report almost every time I log in. All in all the app works for basic things, it still needs work but it does have potential.

The transfer function of this app just displays a message about needing an eligible source account. It does not let me do an external funds transfers. That is one of its only functions and needs to work for this app to be useful. Otherwise, one needs to use the website. I’m not seeing basic account information like the current interest rate. Other banks I’ve used are way more functional, to the point that I don’t even need to use the website. This needs to be able to add/remove/verify external accounts, show interest rate and interest accrued information, view transfer status (scheduled, etc), and other basic functions on the website in order to serve its purpose.

I am very happy with the interest rate I am getting from VIO currently 2.42 % however the App needs much improvement. Basically the only thing I can do when I am able to open the app is view my balance. One should be able to transfer funds in and out from the app. I am honestly thinking of forgoing the extra interest and just go with my other high yield savings account -Synchrony Bank. The interest rate is 2.00% which is lower but still great. The Synchrony app is super easy to use. I am sure there are tons of other people with the same frustration. VIO, please improve your app! I would love to stay with VIO for the great interest rate.

My eyesight is poor. I’ve had multiple eye surgeries. Could you increase the font size so that I, and others with less than perfect vision, can more easily check our balances on our phones? Been a Vio customer since 2018. Consistently earn high rates, but did have to close original accounts and move them to the new Cornerstone accounts to keep earning competitive rates. Wasn’t a big deal, but was a hassle. App is not as full featured as bigger banks, but the interest paid is so much higher. Recommend this bank to friends and family.

Update: I reset my phone since it was full and everything was backed up. Ever since I can’t log in with Touch ID and have to go through the entire process of verifying my log in every time. Bittersweet because it’s not an account I want to look at often but an annoying hassle when I have to do mobile deposits. Previous review: For the most part I really enjoy the app. This is a relatively easy bank to work with(besides the fact that my APY doesn’t match what I was told at sign up). That said I am disappointed you can only go so far back history wise on the app. So when I’m going through mobile deposit checks to throw out I have to use a computer or something other than the app.

This really is a bad app. You can’t deposit money from your external checking account in app, you have to do it on the website. You can’t see your interest rate, can’t see what’s been earned in interest. It struggles to log in using the fingerprint scanner about 50% of the time. You can see your balance, and that’s only after clicking past the $0 available balance that shows on the top screen. And you can deposit money via check, which is useful about 15 years ago. That’s about all this is app can do. I hope they didn’t pay too much for this, it would be easier and cheaper to just not have an app rather than pass this off as something useful.

Vio Bank itself has been great and offers great interest rates. 10s across the board for this bank. The Vio App and website on the other hand. Now, that’s a different story. The app is solely to view your numbers in your account. It doesn’t give you the ability to make transfers, withdraw or deposit. You have to do that on a desktop. Before opening an account, I read a review that said their website looks like a college student’s project, and that my friend’s is exactly what it is. I’m waiting for the day they update their site and their app to align with the greatness of their bank!

The app is good and has many of the features the most people want. I really personally would like a mobile banking app to have the option of transferring money from an external bank to Vio using the app. Unless I have set up something wrong I don’t think this is possible unless you have a physical paper check. With that feature it would be great to be able to schedule reoccurring transfers as well transfers to happen once on a specific date. Other than that the app is great and laid out well. Is also pretty easy to navigate.

This app is very limited in terms of being able to initiate mobile withdrawals or deposits. You have to sign onto the Safari/Chrome website to link and transfer money from and to the account. There is no feature on the app that allows me to initiate a bank transfer from or to an external account. The app is just for viewing recent transactions or seeing PDF statements. It also lags in showing the correct total amount after you transfer $ in or out. Takes 5 business days to see the change in total/for transfers to fully clear.

First, it won’t rotate so if I try to use it on my iPad with keyboard attached, I can’t. Second, if I use the app on my phone which works better in portrait mode, I can’t find anyway to add a linked account or make a transfer from another bank into my VIO account. I have used other banking apps for years now. This app really needs upgrading.

I ind it very odd that a bank that is only online would have a app that does not function. Seriously, what’s the point of this app? All it does iso she you your balance. That’s it. You cannot even transfer funds with this app. In addition, it frequently has problems with the log on. I noticed a review from almost a year ago stating that you can’t transfer funds. How disappointing that a year later the app does not function like. “real” banking app. It actually makes me lose confidence that my money is safe in this bank, if it can’t even have a properly functioning app. Pleas fix it! And don’t just say “ you’ve noted this.” Actually fix it!

Would definitely recommend to stick with the website as you’re actually able to do more than view your account balance. The app looks like it was stripped down completely to only allow basic functions. Don’t get me wrong, the bank itself (as far as I’m aware) is fine. I recently opened an account and verified my linked external account, but it does not appear on the app. It appears on the website just fine. The app is seriously lacking compared to the features and user friendly interface that other banking apps have.

- Login only works properly about 50% of the time. - Can’t do an external transfer through the app - which arguably is the most important feature of an online bank’s app. - Holds on funds are longer than I’ve ever seen at any bank. Made a $1800 check deposit into my account that had SIGNIFICANTLY more in it than that on the 8th, today is the 16th and it still hasn’t been released - based on my account balance alone it should have been made available immediately. 5 business days was yesterday, which in theory is the hold time... The same thing happens with every single deposit that isn’t a direct deposit. - Interest rate keeps dropping recently - seems like it’s been going down monthly, but you don’t know this unless you go out of your way to look for the number - which isn’t available on their app. I’m going to be moving all of my money to another bank - this bank hasn’t really been an acceptable experience.

This app is terrible all around. It’s slow to boot up (I’m on a 12 Pro so it isn’t a hardware issue). The Face ID no longer functions and tells me I’m not authorized to use it. When you do get logged in the only thing that you can do is look at your account. None of the other functions work. I can’t transfer between accounts or even view the options I have. The settings just tells you to go to the phone settings. The developers were literally so lazy they didn’t even put the app setting in the actual app. At least the app doesn’t crash.

I recently transferred a large chunk of money from a different online high savings account to Vio. The main reason was because the interest rates at Vio were significantly higher, and dependably stable, which is great. But seriously, this app is about as bare-bones as it gets. It doesn’t easily link to my checking/savings from other banks, nor does it have a home page with basic information (show me the interest rate, show me my net worth from linked accounts, pretty basic). Would recommend checking out some of your competitors’ apps to enhance the user experience. See: Betterment - much more user friendly.

I have other online savings but this by far is the Slowest! The phone app is basically useless and money transfers(only can be made from a desktop or laptop) take forever, then a hold on funds once it hits your account is still takes forever! Thought I’d give it a try for the slightly higher rate, however if the inconvenience continues it’s not worth the headache… it feels like your doing banking in the 80s!

Recently the Vio Bank Mobile App changed its font and color scheme. I did not change any setting on my iPhone XS to cause this to happen. After the font and color scheme changed, it is kind of difficult to read the text within the application. The application is still functioning correctly, so this is just a style issue. Or perhaps it’s a the change is not “my” style issue. 😉

The app has very few features and the one main one that I need to use, check deposit has not worked for several days. Regardless of how I endorse the back of the check, or which direction I take the photo, I continuously receive the error “Could not find endorsement on back of check: make sure check is endorsed! Retake photo.” My other bank apps allow you to override the warning via a confirmation, but this one just blocks you from moving forward. It’s frustrating enough that I’m considering closing my account.

I picked this bank because it had decent reviews and paid good interest rates. All is well until I try to access their mobile app or their web site with my VPN turned on. Nope! I called and they said that’s the way it is, no plans to upgrade, etc. So I log on at home where it’s safe. Not sure why you would use this app (or any banking app) without VPN support - I don’t. All my other banks and credit card apps do, so I’ll probably be switching. Kind of a deal breaker for me.

Overall this app is just okay. It is extremely basic and shows very little account information. I recently switched from another online savings account to this one. I was happy to see that their apps were extremely similar. However, Vio’s app gives very little information under the “Summary” tab like the other bank did. This is really frustrating because I like to check the interest rates frequently and the app was an easy way to do that. I hope that this is changed in the near future.

Great way to save with maximum interest. By keeping their expenses down by providing services online only and not investing money in a website with all the bells and whistles you can become accustomed to, they can continue to pay top interest! That is the desired outcome that I want.

We opened our savings account recently. Our experience with your support group has been excellent. So far everything has been easy. We started with another bank. After 6 weeks we still couldn’t open an account.

Why can I not make external transfers into my savings account from the app??? The app also doesn’t show what rate I’m getting or if I have pending deposits. These are basic necessities for a functional app for the savings account alone without even using a checking account. If they fix these, I’d give it 4 stars. Fix the ridiculous line of questions and text verification codes for *each* time I sign in (plus the other fixes mentioned) and I’ll give it full marks.

Used to work fine. Than I would have to manually enter everything since it would log me into MidFirst Bank instead of Vio Bank. Now I can’t even get it to login at all!!! Keeps on asking me for my phone number and than says unable to login since my phone number is currently in use. I give up! Deleting app and logging in over website! Still not working after initial review from a couple of months ago. Lowering rating to one star. No contact from Vio Bank. Will start looking for another bank!

As others have said, all this app does is let you check your balances. This app has been out a while. Vio, are you ever going to add the ability to make internal/external transfers? Please don’t respond with your canned response “Thank you for your feedback. We are looking for ways to make the experience better.”

I can make a deposit just fine on the VIO website but this app doesn’t let me. It just show “You must have at least one eligible source account…. to make a transfer.” I have my source account set up but it doesn’t show up in the app. Again, the source account works just fine using the website. The only thing this app is good for is viewing your balance, recent transactions, and statements.

I’ve been with VIO Bank for several years now. They have consistently had the best savings interest rates in the country and make it easy to do business with! If you’re not already a client, why not!?

Pros: Great interest rates on savings...at least for now. Cons: App doesn’t show your interest rate. App doesn’t show accumulated interest. App doesn’t show daily interest. App doesn’t allow you to open another account. No useful help features. Statements not available on the app. Transfers from external sources take up to 11 business days! You can’t even transfer funds from an external account using the app, but they have a transfer button! It’s only for internal transfers. Stone-age app design! The Ally app and Ally in general show EVERYTHING and are full-featured. Vio Bank’s app is super limited. Even the evil Comenity Direct has a better app! Live Oak Bank, Citizens Access, Bank of the West, Charles Schwab, and my tiny credit union ALL have better apps than this.

Have been a customer for only 3 days but so far it’s been a very pleasant experience! The only issue is their transfer limits are quite low but they are helping me work around that. Their customer service reps are terrific!

It’s overall a good bank. The mobile app could be updated to function easier. As I’m writing this review, the actual text isn’t showing up even. So they still have a ways to go to truly be a good functioning bank in terms of technology wise. Good interest rates though.

We were easily able to make a large deposit from another bank via the mobile app, saving us a wire transfer fee.

Very basic. There is no way to transfer money to or from external accounts or see account details, interest rate, etc. in the app. You have to do everything from the desktop. that alone makes it very inconvenient. Other than that great rates.

Very limited in what you can do or see. Mostly all other bank apps are fully done and capable of many things this app is not. You can’t even see your current APY unless you use the website; and then you Only see the last statement APY (could be 25-30 days old). It would be nice to see current APY and interest accrued on a daily basis…much like UFB Direct app.

This app is pretty useless if you are looking to transfer money into your account. It appears to have this function but then tells you that you need an eligible account. If they would at LEAST update the error message to let customers know it does not work and you have to go online to do complete a transfer, I would have given 2 stars. Just make the feature actually function, that would be great.

Love the banking itself, but the app seems to not be a big priority leaving it with very few features besides checking the balance. I wish it could be a substitute to the website when you don’t have a computer rather than just an add-on.

It's great for checking balances and depositing checks but, and it's a big but, you can't transfer to/from other banks. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a big fan of VIO. They have great rates but a few more features/services on the app would be a big plus!

The only thing the app is good for is checking balances. The transfer function doesn't work. It continuously says you need to have at least 1 external source bank to execute a transfer. Despite me having 4 external accounts I can set up transfers with on the vio website, the app doesn't recognize them.

I’m unable to make any transfers within the app. I haven’t found any resources to try and resolve my issue from the app either. Half of the reason I got this bank was because of the good reviews, but have been disappointed about being unable to deposit into my new account. Please fix; I want to love this bank.

I love vio bank for the savings but the app will not let me sign in. I enter my password and it asks for a phone number and then tells me that number is already in use and can’t be registered. Like yes duh i have an account already IM just trying to sign in. Wife is facing the same issue. We’ll just use the website but this seems like such a dumb glitch.

App provides some functionality but is very lackluster I would like to view the current rates of my accounts when I’m looking at their summary pages I would like to be able to open a CD in-app

Not being able to make external transfers through the app is unacceptable in today’s world. If not available soon, I will close my accounts and bank elsewhere. Also, app should have Touch ID available. I just switched from another bank for the higher interest rate but the inconveniences may cause me to change back.

Terrible app, you can’t transfer money on it! For an online only bank to have this bad of an app is ridiculous. Honestly thinking about switching to another bank. Not worth the hassle of having to use the website to do basic banking functions.

Customer for 2+ years. Never had a prob with the app before but in the last few months it’s been really buggy. The app won’t load or won’t show my balance. I don’t mind it being bare bones UX, but an update is really needed.

What’s the point of having a savings account if I can’t easily add more money? Even though my outside checking account is connected to make small automatic payments I can’t use the app to transfer more funds when I want. The security measures the app takes are over the top and make it difficult to use. Just in general everything using VIO has been tedious and annoying.
