Great on iPhone 8, issues dragging the map on the 11
I loved this app so much! Having lived in 2 locations that are frequented by hurricanes, Florida & Coastal North Carolina, this app is a MUST during hurricane season. I used it all the time on my iPhone 8 with no issues. But I just got the iPhone 11, and noticed one issue I never had on the iPhone 8. And seeing no other reviews describing this same issue (the iPhone 11 has only been out now for 4 days), I felt I should report it just in case others have the same issue, and so maybe a fix can occur. I have tried restarting my phone and reinstalling the app, but problem persists. The issue happens when you try to drag the map to look at other locations. Instead of the animated map moving to reveal more of the map, it zooms in. Making it impossible to look at other locations, other than the default location. I was able to move it only a little but it was a battle getting it to respond at al and would still only do that while simultaneously zooming in. If I am doing something wrong, please let me know! But I still say it’s been the best visual weather app out there! And I hope this problem goes away soon! I will change my rating to 5 stars if I can get it to work again.

Access to the models professionals use
Also Can compare them, and probably learn a lot more too if you have less formal meteorological training. Having more access to well formatted data instead of it being fed to you and summarized as in other apps is important especially to those who depend heavily on weather such as myself occasionally working in the marine industry on Great Lakes and outdoor activities or professions. It’s important to understand that models do not always get it perfect so being able to compare them for discrepancy and integrate into your own local knowledge is crucial on the water or anywhere really when serious mission critical planning or at least some decent foresight is required. This app allows you to do that. I’d say this app is the main thing to have and then some shortcuts for a few NOAA pages allowing you to get some of the same information in a low bandwidth format when service is poor … other than Sirius nav weather on an MFD for when there is zero cell coverage… this is what you need to be as confident as anyone can be about completing dangerous marine work on a Great Lake like superior.

The best weather app out there
I was a huge fan of Storm from WeatherUnderground and hadn't checked out the other options recently, but when The Weather Channel killed Storm and replaced it with a mediocre weather channel version I had a look at the other options and was very happy to find Windy. It's so much much better than the others, let me count (a few of) the ways: You can pick your forecast model! And then compare the different models to see where they differ! That to me is a game changer. The timeline along the bottom is so great to see how pressure and fronts will move - I feel like I've learned a lot just by using the app. The many layer options are great - set it for what you want to see and don't be distracted by what you don't. And of course the wind animation options make for a visually appealing interface. Seeing how the different altitude winds are moving and changing is so useful and interesting. I'd gladly pay money for this app, there are just so many great things to say about it. And if all you want is a sun, a cloud, or an umbrella for where you live that's there for you too. I was bummed when Storm was killed off but am so happy to have found this great app.

Commercial Fisherman
Was skeptical at first that this could depict weather changes so precisely, but found that it is mostly correct. I think a lot of it is due to the quirky geography of the mountains and lengthy valleys near the waterways that I commercial fish during the winter months. Windy seems to be very quickly incorporating these local weather phenomena into their depictions, so we’ll see how precise it becomes later on. Just during the past week or so there have been many multiple changes in wind direction and intensity, and Windy has managed to plot all them out very well. A vast improvement over the NOAA text and audio based descriptions that also lack general time periods when the wind is going to switch and intensify. I do not own a large fishing boat that can brute force it’s way through anything over 30 knots, so I have to play by the rules the wind lays out for me. Windy has vastly improved my planning for weather headed my way. Very surprised Windy is as good as others have said it is, and very happy with this free service. It is rapidly gaining popularity among the commercial fleet here in Alaska.

Best weather app out there
I have been using windy for the past few years and nothing compares. The weather affects my job a lot so I’m always checking the app, it is so incredibly useful to be able to see not only the conditions of the town I’m in but the entire area all at a glance. I find a lot of times that the default apple weather app will show that it’s cloudy all day, but windy days there’s a chance of rain all day and it ends up raining. This app has also completely changed the way I choose where to hike and do road trips. I like to play things by ear based on the weather, so when I want to go for a hike I look at windy to see where the weather is the best and I choose a hike based on that. And when I’m on a road trip I am always looking at the forecast for the following days and I choose which direction to go based on where the weather will be better. Obviously no app can be 100% accurate and I’m not claiming windy is but it helps me make more informed decisions that an app without weather radar can’t provide.

Best weather app ever
Honestly I never review apps, because at best most are simply acceptable for their designed purpose. This app, however, is worth mentioning, in that it is easily the most comprehensive (not to mention accurate) weather resource you can put on your phone, with a super intuitive interface, and greater functionality in the free version than you can get in all other paid weather apps I’m aware of. Furthermore, and almost most importantly to me, this app is basically ad-free, and doesn’t bloat up your phone with unnecessary and invasive adware the way most others do. Simply put, this app is exceptional, fantastic on all levels, and something that I will eventually pay for simply to support. Kudos and thanks to Ivo & the team for making this app a reality. Weather geeks (professional or otherwise,) do yourself a favor and download this one. It’s really a beautiful thing.

So bad it can actually be harmful
Just sat through YET ANOTHER severe weather event the windy app gave no heads up about. Major thunderstorm, torrential downpour, regional flood advisories and what heads up did windy give? Nada! In fact it predicted no precipitation, no thunder storm and showed partly sunny as it’s weather forecast. DO. NOT. USE. This app could get someone killed. Fortunately I have other apps such as Weather Channel which did alert about this and was accurate. And this is far from the first time this app has failed to indicate bad weather, it’s “accuracy” is so bad that I can’t consider this app anything more than a toy, something from a Cracker Jack box. Use at your peril Update per developer response: making excuses about the different models being at fault is sickening and outright reckless. This is a clear case of “Garbage in Garbage Out” the Devs knowingly supply garbage data and happily let their users suffer the consequences — hopefully after paying for “premium” of course. The Dev response should alarm anyone as it only confirms my review and statement that this app is dangerous and should not be used. I’ll be following up with Apple Store Support since I don’t think an app with such potential for real life harm should be allowed on the store

Pretty great as far as weather apps go.
Very user-friendly for being as in depth as it is, and that makes it a both a joy and a useful teaching tool. But I want more. I’d really like this to take the place of all, or at least most, of the web sites I use. I’ll list 3 things specifically: 1. Access to more computer models. Instead of just the deterministic GFS and ECMWF, add the 30 and 50 ensembles, respectively, or at least a blend. The Canadian model and its ensembles. The HRRR. The UKMET. Any of the big boys that I haven’t listed here. Also some CAM’s for short term. And being able to plot the data in charts and meteograms instead of just maps. 2. Forecasts, short-term and long-term, for the oscillations that drive the earth’s weather, i.e. the Madden-Julian and ENSO. 3. Archived history of weather maps and surface observations at airport, marine, mesonet and personal weather stations. I understand these are big asks—and not likely to be of much use to most people—but as a 2nd, elite subscription tier for 9.99 a month, I’d buy in.

My lifeline to weather
We live aboard our boat full time. In Continental US waters, there are lots of weather apps as well as local forecasts to keep one safe on the water. Outside the US, radar and forecasting gets a lot harder. Windy has been the sole app that gives us our local radar and forecast as well as all the regular features used for sailing. With the addition of more hurricane features, it has become indispensable to assist with keeping us informed and safe. That’s a lot for an app. My only beef is that when you open the app, it always has the New Hurricane Tracker page that you must X out of to close. Can we not leave that there? When I’m constantly opening the app, it got old real fast. Otherwise, I truly appreciate the local weather in remote areas as well as all of the regular features. Thank you so very much!

Privacy violations run rampant in weather apps
Yet another Weather app that claims it Has to have my location. I simply want to designate a city and have it give me the weather for that city. I don’t want the weather at my location! I know the weather at my location. I have eyes. I want the weather at other places where I have interests, like property and loved ones. You don’t need to know where I am to tell me the weather in my city. This is purely an insidious ploy to sell my personal information. Update: Received a developer response, with the standard statement: ‘ we are sorry you feel this way…’ I have been unsuccessful, thus far, getting an email through to the email address given in the developer response. So, if you are reading this, please read my initial review, which is very much explanatory of my issues with your app. This has nothing to do with feelings. You should read the review before you send an email asking me to change it. Fix your app, and I will buy it. When you develop an app, THINK FIRST!!! You should especially think about privacy.

Use it all the time for long distance cruise planning as well as for local fishing trips
I have weather XM subscription on my Garmin chart plotter, but it only gets me a wind view out 3 days. Windy gives me an outlook on wind and swell direction as far as a week out. I find this invaluable for our summer cruising in the Bahamas. It allows me to line up wind and waves to best suit my boat and allows me to give my passengers a better ride on passages. Together with Weather XM and internet weather reports, I can minimize bad weather experiences for my guests (and wife) so they will want to come back again and again! I use Windy more than any of the others mentioned because it’s so handy and can be taken easily from boat to boat. Wherever I carry my phone (which is everywhere) I can get wind and sea conditions. If you’re a boater, you will love this app.

Great app for truck drivers
As a truck driver in the southwest, this app is amazing because I can monitor wind speeds and weather to make my job a little bit safer since it’s always windy here. we actually use it in our dispatch office as well. I started out with the free version, but I liked it so much I opted to get the premium subscription. I’d say Radar Omega is a little better if you’d like to track just thunderstorms and tornadoes, but this app is especially great for tracking windspeeds, but also does a good job on other severe weather. With the premium version you have access to all kinds of different layers between wind, rain, snow, ozone, temperatures, drought maps, all kinds of stuff. 50+ different ones actually. i’d recommend it and I’d say it’s probably the best “all around” weather app that I’ve come across so far.

Miss Dark Sky? Try Windy.
Dark Sky was a marvelously innovative weather app that Apple brought and then turned into the grotesque mashup that is now the Apple weather app. Such a waste. But all is not lost: Windy picks up the torch with a fast, fluid, intuitive user interface that displays a multitude of weather charts at the tap of a finger. Weather radar, satellite, wind direction and velocity, lightning (with sound if you like), waves(!), air quality, and more additional charts than space conveniently allows me to mention. There’s a paid tier that supposedly gives you things like higher radar resolution, but the free version seems to work well for me. On the other hand I might subscribe just so that when Apple comes calling the folks at Windy won’t really need the money.

So Close To The Only Weather App You’ll Need
I have used Windy for over a year and value it enough to subscribe to the premium level. It is worth the annual fee and a 5-Star rating except for one single missing feature. The app is very flexible and powerful. With a selections from the menu a user can see anything from from a simple local forecast to see the long term trends in an area. If you are a pilot, surfer, or someone who really wants a deep dive in to important aspects of the weather that is easily available too. Also important - Windy accurately forecasts the weather. It even allows you to chose from several forecasting models should you believe a particular model is more accurate. Yet all of the flexibility provides some frustration, and judging by the forum, many other users. Windy seems to have a single default view that applies to all users. So then each time we open the app we have to remember and find all of the menus selections to display the weather the individual user wants. It takes a minute or two to get this set so no big deal - but then again this is required every time a user opens the app. If Windy allowed a user to set a default view this would solve that issue and then from my perspective, be the only weather app I need.

Update is a downgrade
I’ve been using Windy for a number of years and have found it quite useful so vey often. The latest “improvements” to the app are just awful. When an app that’s been around for so long, and the UI is good, a major change to the interface means it’s like getting a different app and starting over. Over the weekend I used windy on my iPhone for a trip over to Catalina Island off SoCal. Very accurate and useful. The forecasts were very good and useful. Two days later, I’m home and open Windy on my iPad Pro to plan my next sail. I am fumbling around trying to find the information which was so useful in the past. Gone is the menu at the bottom of the screen, when tapped, the wind arrows at the location chosen location which gave a quick and easy display of the forecast over time by sliding the date/time cursor at the bottom. Now, the time for the forecast is at the bottom of the scree but the predicted wind speed and direction as at the top of the screen. So it’s a constant up down up down up down scan to get the forecasted wind and time. Without the wind arrows for a quick display of the forecast, Windy has become much more cumbersome to use. I’ve been through the menu multiple times but cannot find a setting for the wind arrows on the selected forecast location. So VERY frustrating of an update.

The best, but incorporate meteoblue maps?
As a developer myself, I really appreciate the quality of work going into an app like this. The fact that you have 5 comparable forecast models that can also be compared with ground station data really sets this apart. It’s hard to ask for more. That being said… I want more!!! Could you please incorporate meteoblue maps, at least for temperature and wind? It’s misleading when I select meteoblue as the forecast model but the map continues to display the previous “map supported” global model (ECMWF GFS or ICON). If meteoblue only supports some data, I’d prefer a warning message saying “we can’t show this because it doesn’t exist”, rather than the current behavior of showing me something that does exist but isn’t what I asked for. Additionally, selecting NAM 5km from the same menu seems to prematurely “snap back” to ECMWF. I dislike, but still prefer, the tendency of NAM 5km to only switch to ECMWF when the modeled region goes *completely* out of view (which is my experience when selecting NAM from the side-bar, rather than within the forecast menu). I’d like no switching at all, but it’s not a big inconvenience. Thanks, and keep up the great work!

Metars and Models and Satellites oh my!
I’ve been a severe weather enthusiast for years I also have a very busy, not-weather related profession so I always seem to spend the first week before tornado reason trying to relocate all of the meteorological data online. No more! With Windy I can old-school my forecasts based on surface data, or I can flip through model data. The settings and visual layering are incredible! Thanks to the developers for an amazing, thoughtful app! I’m just kicking myself that I’m only now finding this. If you are looking for a standard, user-friendly “here’s your local forecast”, kind of app, this app is probably not your best bet. If you are a chaser, spotter, forecaster, weather enthusiast or anyone working in the marine world, this app is the best I’ve come across!

Disappointed after buying Premium annual subscription
I’ve been using the Windy app (free version) for a while now and have been happy with it overall. I particularly like the lack of ads and the rich set of map overlays. Today, I decided to buy the Premium upgrade for two reasons. First, I’m willing to provide financial support for an app that I use regularly and it seems like a completely reasonable price for the value I get. Second, however, I was swayed by the mention of integrated Tide information within the app. That would be a nice additional feature since I use the app mainly for boating. Unfortunately, it seems very misleading to highlight this feature. There is no robust tide information available but just a very basic chart that shows the tide going up and down without any readings or magnitude. Sort of useless and disappointing.

Premium offer does not work
App is great! I thought I should support the developers because I use it all the time so I opted for the premium version. I would rate it 5 stars but for the problems I had activating the premium features. To activate the premium subscription one needs to login through the Windy app. However, I created my account years ago on the web, and the app did not recognize my login credentials so there was no way to “activate” my premium subscription. I tried numerous times using different paths, changing passwords, etc but could not get it to work. However, the next day I tried again and it was successful. I don’t know what happened, but I am happy with the app.

Lack of cellular support on Apple Watch
The application itself is great I do use it. I was very glad to see Apple Watch integration. However like many many people I have an Apple Watch with cellular connectivity so I don’t have to be tethered to my iPhone. Unfortunately we’re not tethered to the iPhone and the Apple Watch windy application has major problems. I get error messages like location not enabled, or doesn’t know where I am or worse yet no connectivity. evidently the application on the Apple Watch has no problem as long as you’re connected to the phone. If you rely on your Apple Watch with cellular connectivity to allow you to be away from your phone not going to work. I don’t understand this most applications that I’ve used tend to support both. Why the developers failed to anticipate this Or thought that it wasn’t significant enough to support is beyond me.

Update ruined app
The new update has destroyed the user experience on the app. The UI changing has made it much more challenging and frustrating to use, to the point where I am going to have to delete the app. It’s just unusable for me, they fixed a UI that was PERFECT. One of the best things about the app was how simple it was. Now it’s clunky, complex, and just annoying to use. Windy provided me with much useful data but it’s nothing I can’t find through other resources which I’m afraid I will have to do now. I do hope the makers of this app correct the decision to change the UI and revert it back to the original. It’s very unfortunate that I have to stop using this app, because I really enjoyed it and it really helped me out. But it’s not worth it when they took away part of what made it enjoyable and usable. I hope the makers see this, please correct this update, you’re going to lose lots of users because of the new UI.

Storm Recovery
Since the Weather Channel ruined the Storm app, I turned to Windy to get the wind animation and multi-city forecasts that I was accustomed to. Windy provides all that I seek in a weather app, and more. It did take time to find things, and my iPad version still will only show 3 overlay options, but lots of other display choices I do not care about and did not select in the same column of choices. Once I (accidentally) found the meteograms I am fascinated, but wish there was some place to learn what the detailed meaning. I also wish that front symbols would be able to display with temperatures, wind, or rain. I find the thunderstorm info distracting and wish I could turn it off.

Well done
I’ve been looking for a long time for an app with this much functionality, as well-designed, and with as active community engagement. And, at the moment, it’s free, and with no ads. If you find it as useful as I do, however, the subscription is very reasonable compared to the couple of other “professional” services I have seen. I happily signed up. These people are obviously focused on providing the best and most usable data and visualization possible. I’ve seen too many really good starts go down the drain when someone corporate comes along with better ideas for monetization that ends up killing the thing (I’m looking at you, Storm). I tip my hat to the Windy team.

Very difficult to use
Every time I try to ise this app I end up with a headache. Everyone raves that it has the most accurate surf report and it does. However, there is no option to make the font larger and I cannot see any of the info just the arrows. Second, it takes forever to find the place to see the surf conditions. There is a pin on the right, but when you tap it it tell you to go to the main, yet there is nowhere labelled main menu. I have never in my life experienced a more user un-friendly app. I have tried so many times because I really want the information. How can an app be rated so highly that is so difficult to use? I suppose its because if its accuracy. Please please please make changes to make it easier to use and also give an option to increase the font size. I suppose once app designers reach 50 they will begin to understand the importance of this.

Windy is Great Except for Its Location Service
I love Windy! I use it on long distance offshore singlehanded sailing passages. I use it out at sea in conjunction with StarLink and it is an amazing tool. Except for it’s inability to keep track of my actual location. I’ve spoke with the team and unfortunately have not been able to make any headway but I am hopeful they will address this issue soon as it is critical to the offshore sailor and other adventurers in remote locations using StarLink or other satellite communications platforms. With this issue resolved Windy will most certainly become the weather modeling and routing tool of choice for most if not all remote adventurers.

Simply amazing!
Edit: This is actually a five star app, I rated at 4 stars because I never give 5 or 1 star reviews. The reason being that I myself throw out 1 and 5 star reviews in attempt to find an honest opinion. Hopefully I expressed my gratitude toward all the hard workers and long nights they’ve had in making this the best weather app out there. Thank you Windy! It’s like how the web should be, a free exchange of information. I love the detailed information and free layers. Need more information? This app has it. I’ve been using it for years and it is the best! Thank you for everyone involved in making this a free and powerful weather app! Edit 2: its probably closer to a decade I’ve been using your app and im not ashamed to say that :p

New version of windy takes free features away- don’t upgrade!!
Well the long range forecast has been moved to the “premium” platform. At least the various models still remain but I assume they would be next on the chopping block to try and force people to the paid premium version. The long range forecast with the ability to see the different model solutions was the main reason I used the windy app. Now that it is gone, I guess I will just stay on weatherunderground website for my weather data. Weatherunderground is more grounded in reality but it “was” fun to see the extremes from the raw models. You are free to use whatever business model you want. It’s an interesting app but not worth paying for the premium features. Without the long range forecast, it’s no better than the other apps so I uninstalled Windy. Wish you well, hope this works for you.

‘Feels Like’ still needed
Windy is a fabulous app. A few years ago, its developers surprised the world with a website of animated maps showing wind flow in a manner anyone could intuitively understand—and appreciate as beautiful art! Today, the app provides layers and layers of weather and related information, both current and forecast for days into the future. But it still lacks a Feels-Like layer. Most people want to know two things: Will I get wet if I go outside? And will I be hot or cold? Temperature and precipitation are the go-tos. And for the past 20 years, computers have enabled meteorologists and weather apps to compute and display Wind Chill in the winter and Heat Index in the summer. Once Windy adds Feels Like, the app will be complete.

Windy is essential
I got windy 5 years ago now and have never take my boat to the ocean without checking out the app prior to departure since. The best part of windy for me living on the California coast is being able to find pockets of wind free water. The directional arowws will show where and when you can find little pockets of windless or less windy waters. Finally, l love the accuracy of the app in my five years with windy I’ve only seen one day be far off of what was forecasted, I attribute the miss of that day due to major forest fires in our area. In conclusion if you fish or boat in general Windy is your most essential app to keep you your friends and Family safe

Excellent app, unstable at the moment
I am a sailor, forest fire warden, pilot, an outdoor enthusiast who has been a paid subscriber for many years, and have always used Windy to get a good overview of the long-range models. It is the best general presentation of forecast models available. I used Windy on both an iPhone and iPad Pro with equal success. However, in the last few weeks it has become very unstable and crashes soon after initiating. I have followed all the developer’s recommendations for correcting the installation on the user’s end but to no avail. I suspect there still is some condition that they haven’t resolved and I hope they can figure it out. Good luck!

Most accurate weather app out there!
I’ve been using the Windy app for about 3 years now and no other app pales in comparison. The fact that you actually get access to multiple forecast models including the European model is quite phenomenal as it’s not offered on many (if any) other weather applications. Many of my friends have come to think I’m some sort of weather guru as I’m always warning them when the wind is going to be kicking up. We live in an area with quite a few trees so being a step ahead as well as warning friends and family is always a good thing. Keep up the stellar work!

Windy Weather
I have found Windy to be one of the best weather apps available. I particularly like the ability to view four different weather models, and to look forward several days with the predictions. A few suggestions: It would be nice if you could see both the selected menu item AND the particular legend. Currently, after you select a specific item, I.e. rain accumulation, you have to X out of the menu before the ledge down come up at the bottom. It would be nice if you could see both at the same time and just circulate between menu items. The font is pretty small at the bottom...great data, but have a look at the formatting....in some cases things are impossible to read since they are overlapping, such as cloud altitudes. Rain vs. Snow accumulation.......it’s confusing. Looks to be the same physical accumulation data, but we know inches of snow isn’t inches of water.... Would be nice to be able to zoom the map like all other apps........instead of just having several different fixed scales. This is a wonderful app, and I encourage you to keep making it better. Thanks.

Weather for everyone!
FINALLY! - A weather app for adults. This app is amazingly sophisticated and deep with information enough to satisfy the most dedicated weather geek, yet simple enough so that you can see all the details of a 10 day forecast in one chart. The animated wind and storm overlays are absolutely the best I’ve seen in any weather app. The only thing lacking is a detailed video analysis of the weather situation for a particular area, but these are fraught with ads in other weather apps, and with a little education and the information provided by this app you could nearly compose your own video.

The perfect weather app—almost
I started using Windy about five years ago primarily for boating on the inland passage in the Pacific Northwest. It was a great adjunct to other resources and it quickly became my go to weather app. I have enjoyed watching it improve over the past five years. The capabilities are almost endless. I have not even scratched the surface of many of the features and layers. The only negative is the last upgrade is unstable and will frequently crash for no apparent reason. The people at Wendy seem proactive and are interested in keeping things in good working order so I hope this will resolve soon.

Click click click click click click
This may not be a deal breaker for some, however, one of Windy’s featured map overlays is Weather Radar, it is cool over lay for severe weather. The overlays shows rain intensity, lightning, and even makes sounds when lightning strikes. The overlay has one major major oversight by Windy, there is no way to disable or turn off the lightning strike clicking. This clicking WILL drive you nuts, windys silly community voting approach for features only after you sign up is quite a stupid model. I love the app, hate the clicking and the oversight from their devs to turn it off and the stupid community voting approach, thus three stars. Most likely will delete it after I find a comparable app.

Great app for the Angler!
There is quite a few things for Anglers to consider when planning even a day trip out on the water. Safety is the #1 consideration. Many people have been caught out on the water when high winds suddenly kicked up. This makes getting back to a safe harbor problematic. Down here in Baja Mexico, I use the WINDY APP as my first tool when deciding to put my boat out on the water! I have found WINDY to be a reliable tool to use on a regular basis. Be safe out there, and remember, “It is better to be on land and wishing you were out on the water, than to be out on the water and wishing you were on land!”

Sometimes I’m lucky
I have a nice RV with a large deck on a lake. What’s on the deck, plants and some furniture, can take serious damage from wind and rain that blows sideways. Knowing how much wind and wind direction is critical for my potted plants, which can happily fly off the tables if it gets too windy. Windy keeps me informed of wind and wind gusting with direction as well as how much rain is expected. The maps showing wind direction is very cool but I love watching the storms on radar. I can replay the last hour or more of the radar and can see if the storm is hitting or missing. I set out to find a better weather app, and this is it. Lucky again!

Best map of NYC
We love Windy. It's beautiful and though we din't understand most of what's in it and the interface is non-intuitive, that's fine because it is a really serious map for people who are knowledgeable about weather — which we are not. But, we love having perfectly fresh information and, living in New York City, we are thrilled by one feature of the map which we have not found in google apps or Apple maps or anybody else's maps — the street numbers of the buildings! Saves us from the annoying experience of coming out of the subway only to find we are walking the wrong way down the street. Wonderful!

Comprehensive
This weather app is by far the most creative and comprehensive view of weather I’ve ever seen. As an outdoor person and one who gets out on the waters in our boat, the info can be tailored to cover just about any circumstance: example, wind speed and direction relative to Lows and Highs, relationship of wave actions to swells, and active tide/current data. There just is no other app that I know of that is so comprehensive, and I have yet to utilize all the features, like cloud formations at different altitudes. Keep up the good work! So many great apps “get better” and lose their utility...please,please, maintain your integrity!

BEST EVER!!!
I’ll update this later in more detail... but your app is the BEST... I SERIOUSLY MEAN BEST... of every other weather app I’ve ever known and downloaded in the last 7 years! Everything from data sources, detailed info, everything for a weather nerd as myself... almost could be a meteorologist lol! I’m a geologist so love everything related to Earth’s science... I’ll post an update later... but need to say THANK YOU for the best app EVER! 😃 Thank everybody that aided in developing your app Once I’ve available funds... I seriously wish to contribute as much as possible to the developers! FYI... this is the first review I’ve EVER submitted for an app... so everyone should now understand my love of this app!

Hands Down The Best Weather App
I have tried just about every weather app there is. But now I have found a keeper. Most of the others are either to hard to navigate, too cluttered and way too many adds. This one is so well laid out. It is easy to navigate and has everything you want in a weather app. It has satellite, radar, wind , cloud cover , thunderstorms and even snow accumulations for the winter months. You name it is there. I am using the free version and you are not bombarded with adds or them asking you too upgrade. Give this app a try and you will be glad you did

Best weather app I know of
I live in a storm, flood, tornado-prone area and, as such, need a reliable weather app. The range this app has is amazing. I don’t pay for many of my apps but am going to upgrade to the paid version of this one as it is so excellent. I can’t imaging needing another. I’m surprised it doesn’t have a solid five-star rating instead of 4.8 as it’s one of the few apps I think should. Also, I always note a few degrees different between this and the weather app that comes with the iPad, WeatherBug and this app with this app being the accurate weather. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Great app for all weather lovers!!!
This is one of my favorite free weather apps. It’s not just winds, which as a weather lover and sailor is wonderful, it has an awesome radar system. Shows lightning strikes that light up, wind and gusts, cloud cover, and a great real-time/future option for wind, jet streams, and tropical storms! So many options that took me a while to realize it had. Like GFS and Euro models for future weather and hurricanes. Honestly my number one go to for storm watching and 99% of all my weather information needs. Have turned probably hundreds of people like me on to this app! Keep it going because ya’ll are doing everything right!!!!

A little complex but very good...
Not very intuitive to learn and somewhat complicated to configure for the information you want, but quite powerful and useful with an attractive design. This App has the potential to be best of the best. Keep up the good work. (Retired 22 year data systems engineer). 14 September 24: Newer versions have become more intuitive (or maybe I’ve just become more used to the interface) and more useful features have been added so I would now say that in the world of weather apps, that it is truly the “Best of the Best”… thanks for the great work.

It’s your right to not like changes
I love the statement that tho company used in a expansion of why the changes…it’s their right to the changes and if we don’t like it that’s our right to disagree. I have used this app over the last few years and it has helped with many forecasts of upcoming issues. Since the company has used the right to change things, it is as useless as some of the other weather apps on the market. But like all people now looking for an edge of making more money change is happening. The app did have some of the best features on the market. I do thank the developers for the time the allowed us poor folks the use of the product.

Ruined by the latest update!
I’ve used Windy for years (as a paid premium user) for planning sailing passages. After the most recent update, it’s a nightmare to use. To compare wind forecasts from multiple models, now I have to pan around the map, then, within six seconds, click “show forecast “, then switch to display wind at the bottom of the screen (it doesn’t remember this choice from one interaction to the next). Then pan around to see another location. In the previous version, I could simply tap any location on the map, use the drop-down arrow to select wind display. Done. Then tap anyplace on the map, to view another location, and again etc to view wind “evolution” along a sailing path. Used to love Windy. Hate the new interface, so now I’m desperately looking for a replacement.

Found my weather app
Having tried at least 5 other weather apps over time, I found Windy last week before hurricane Henri (I’m in NE US). I find it to be truly better, and has a different kind of design than then others. As I look through options, I find it’s not hard to navigate and an absolute wealth of info is available and easy to find. I try an unpaid version before upgrading, on the reasoning that if I find the first tier is great, I will eventually want the paid upgrade. In the free version, things are beautifully laid out, so Windy has my vote!

Great Companion with your current Weather app
I have my weatherbug app and I think this is great companion with weatherbug the big reason why is the 36 map layers I think that the whole lot of layers in the app and weatherbug has 18 that’s only half the layers. I like the wind and wind gust maps because you can storms. I think this very helpful for pilots, skydiving, paragliders and more. Also your latest addition extreme forcast if you think your getting a lot of rain it will show you if it’s normal, unusual, or extreme event Also again a great companion with your current weather app if accuweather or weatherbug or weather channel it’s great thank you

Invaluable
I write a weather blog on Facebook for my rural community in North Carolina, building local forecasts and discussions Originally from the US high plains of eastern Colorado, being weather aware could be a matter of life and death due to severe storms in summer, blizzards in winter, so I’ve been a meteorology enthusiast and studier since a young kid. Getting the model output of the NAM / ECMF & GFS has, until this app, required finding obscure university / government websites -relying on upkeep and maintenance of these pages - and none of these were practical over mobile The only things I could think of to improve the app are NOAA / Met Office warning polygons on the radar view, the inclusion of the US RAP Rapid Refresh model and theta-e (equivalent potential temperature) maps But these are minor quibbles on an otherwise highly sophisticated and immensely useful weather app Highly recommend for meteorologists, weather enthusiasts or people who want weather model data at their fingertips
