WINIX Best Air Quality
WINIX Is hands down the best air cleaner I have ever used. It’s easy to know the air quality of your home and when the air filters need changed by using the WINIX app. It also lets you order your supplies online and has them delivered in under a week! Being able to program it’s use is priceless when you are a family on the go! My family has allergies and WINIX has them breathing quality clean air minutes after their arrival home. I can also turn it on remotely and be prepared when they are having difficulty. It makes being at home a place they can trust to have clean air and not have to use their inhalers on a constant basis when I am cleaning, washing clothes and cooking. Everything that bothers them is cleaned in minutes, the red indicator has them going to another clean room then back as soon as one minute it turns blue and they know that they are safe. It even took care of the neighbors burning leaves, turning red to let them know to move to our enclosed bedroom, where I have another WINIX air cleaner, then turning blue again to let them know the particles were no longer in the air and they could not smell them anymore. I love my WINIX Air cleaners.

Reassurance: Be still my heart
We were evacuated from our home because of the wildfires. We had no idea if our house was still standing much less filled with smoke! After two days, I noticed the app and remembered its function. I dialed it in and was relieved to see it was functioning, my filters life had dropped by 5% and my inside air was “good”. Best yet, my house had to be standing if that was all true. I can’t tell you how much that meant to me. We are still under evacuation, but each night I can check and see my lil house is still there and my air is good! I sleep a lot better knowing that.....

Please let us rearrange our devices!!!
The air purifiers are decent but the app leaves something to be desired. It’s not the worst app ever but it’s not super user friendly or intuitive. Too many unnecessary steps. I can’t believe in 2023, we can’t rearrange the order of our devices! The one I use the most is at the end and I have to swipe and every device I swipe through lags because it has to load so it takes me forever to get to that device. I would have to delete everything and start over but with 5 devices, I’d rather not! Especially since the usage of each fluctuates. All your devices should be displayed on one single landing page that scrolls if it needs to. Like little boxes with the image and name and a quick button for on/off or what have you. And then selecting the device box puts you into the further controls page. This would make it VASTLY quicker and like I said, I am so shocked this isn’t already how it is in 2023 which 99.9% of apps do this. Please bring this app into current times! It’s such an easy thing to do!

Setup could be better, app is ok
The big question I had was, “Does the app do scheduling?” And yes it does! You can set up per day schedules which is helpful for me as a shift worker. It works fine after setup and is on par with an app like Lutron’s for their hub. The downside is: setup is funky. Even with a newer Winix model, pairing to WiFi feels like a yesteryear process. There’s no NFC tap setup, no Bluetooth… Connecting to the purifier involves connecting to its own WiFi network during setup. This wouldn’t be bad except the app doesn’t give a lot of feedback about what might be going wrong during setup. Upon opening the app, I was asked to give a location permission. I allowed it while the app was open, but disabled precise location. Because of this, WiFi setup wouldn’t complete. After some digging on Reddit, I found that enabling precise location would fix it and voila: I was allowed to proceed and finish setup. I changed the permission back once setup was completed. I’m ok sharing location for air quality info, but I do think it’s funny that despite initially requiring precise location, the town I live in wasn’t even included in the list of places supporting outdoor air quality. I had to pick the nearest city instead. I would really like to have widgets for quicker access to controls, and HomeKit support (virtually nobody has this) would be nice to have as well. I’d rather control the unit with Siri than Alexa or Google.

Excellent Device Awful Software
The fit finish and operation of the HR1000 device is excellent in most aspects. The hardware itself works reliably in all modes with variable fan speeds. Manually changing the settings is clear and easy to understand. Both the prior version and the current version of the software suffer from poor Wi-Fi implementation. The manual clearly states to connect to 2.4 GHz which works fine when initially set up and if nothing is changed or moved will continue to work. However, a simple power outage or unplugging will erase connection settings requiring the entire set up to be repeated. Worse, the Wi-Fi power on power off button does not work in a reliable fashion. After changing filters a reset button to indicate new HEPA filters does not work. Bottom line excellent filter hardware for 400 square-foot apartment. The software needs work to maintain reliable connection and the proxy set up is not real liableLeaving your device exposed with no password

App won’t work without location permissions
The Winix app forces you to opt in to location permissions as part of connecting to Wi-Fi before you can set up a new device. This is intrusive and breaks the “no data is collected” promise in the app description. I’m fine with location-based air quality data for those who are interested, but I do not want that feature and am unable to set up my air purifier as a result. Edit: the developer’s response here is not helpful (not to mention that it gets my name wrong). If the location information is only used to show outdoor air quality, it should be optional to enable and I should be able to set up the air purifier without enabling location. As it stands now, I still am forced to use my purifier without Wi-Fi. There needs to be an app update that makes location optional, not required. Edit 2: the app description still claims the location permission is totally optional, but it is not at all - you cannot set up an air purifier without granting access to Winix to your exact location.

Bad company
I really dislike how this company does business in so many ways. Here’s one example. I spend the time making the order and then I get an email a couple days later that’s says “address verification needed” or we will cancel the order. I’ve already given them a billing and an shipping address. I guess that’s suspicious although I don’t know why. Why giving them both addresses again in an email does anything to verify the address is odd. When ordering they force you to verify your address by pushing a button to do so already, so why a third time? Also, I’ve already purchased from them before and confirmed my addresses. Winix you verify whether or not it’s a real address on your backend. I have a business selling our manufactured product and have never had to put customers through this. I buy thousands of items online and have never had to do this with any other company. It’s odd, it’s holds up the order, and it’s unnecessary.

Great purifier, mediocre app
As a lesson once again that hardware manufacturers rarely make good software, this app isn’t “bad” per se, but it is truly mediocre for an 4+ year old piece of software. The app frequently loses Wi-Fi connection to the purifier, fixable by hard closing the app and reopening it (so not the purifier). The scheduling functionality (which would be an awesome feature if it worked) is so completely non-functional that it almost feels like the developer was halfway done and got laid off. The day/time selector buttons work, but the function buttons (power, mode, fan speed, etc) do nothing and are continually greyed out. Deleting a non-functional scheduled is easy, fortunately. That at least works. Overall the app has potential but fails to shine. The hardware (C545 in my case), on the other hand, is great and lives up to expectations for a $100 air cleaner.

Doesn’t recognize iCloud email addresses
After spending over an hour trying to set up my account, using various passwords; having password reset codes sent to my iCloud email; deleting and reinstalling the app several times; and trying to contact customer service (not available—they wanted to call me back); I finally gave up and created an account using my gmail address. That worked. Curious that an iPhone app won’t work with an iCloud email! The app itself seems to be okay, except that it doesn’t recognize my city of almost 100,000 people as a valid address, so I had to register my location as a smaller town located 20 miles away. The app, as I said, is okay, but doesn’t add any real functionality except to allow me to control the purifier from my bed instead of getting up and moving to it 7 feet away.

WiFi feature does not work
The purifier itself is great: I like the filter options, cleaning is easy, etc, but the WiFi feature is total crap. When I first purchased my Winix and set up the WiFi it worked great, I wasn’t having any connectivity issues at all and was able to check in on it anytime. But one night I think my power went out and after the Winix booted back up the WiFi started failing. I could no longer connect to the purifier through the app, the pairing option also no longer worked- so it went back to being a regular purifier that I had to physically turn on and off when needed. Which just as a purifier, works well, but the main feature of it being WiFi/smart connected went down the drain. They recently updated the app and I was hopeful that I could reconnect/pair my purifier to the WiFi again but once I get to the last step it always says “WiFi connection is unstable” and never goes through. Extremely disappointed.

The WORST app connection experience ever
Trying to get my Winix air purifiers connected to WiFi using this app was the absolute worst experience I have ever had with a “smart” product. Had I know it would be this frustrating and excruciatingly painful, I would have gone with another brand. Support was of no help, I had to figure it out on my own. You have to jump thru so many hoops, and change so many obscure settings on your phone, it’s insane. You shouldn’t REQUIRE always on, precise location permission to connect a device! And if you are asinine enough to require that, then tell me that’s why it’s not working as opposed to just doing nothing. And that was just 1 issue. There were half a dozen other ones. It took me HOURS to figure them all out. Implementing HomeKit or Matter support in a future update would alleviate said issues and make connecting simple and straight forward.

Must enable "Precise" location to use app
App said to connect to purifier's WiFi then come back to the Setup screen, which I did, but the Setup screen had no Next button and just sat there; figured out myself that "Precise" Location had to be enabled in app settings. Next there's no ability to enter room names so I'm stuck with Bedroom 1,2,3,4 which isn't very helpful. Wish there was one screen showing the status of all purifiers instead of having to swipe through multiple screens. The main screen doesn't even show me which purifiers are powered on. The only redeeming qualities are that the app does show filter life remaining (after swiping through multiple screens for each purifier), and allows me to remotely turn purifiers back on after power loss (which is helpful since the C545 doesn't automatically come back on after an outage).

Unbelievable
I was a singer for 30 years. I moved to Idaho 4 years ago at 71 years of age. My voice deteriorated, and I began to get terrible allergies. Believe it or not I put it down to age and retirement. Recently, after a furnace replacement, I began to notice an enormous amount of dust building up on everything. We’ve always had some dust, but this was excessive. We had the air quality analyzed, and it was seriously bad. I purchased a Winix C545 and within 5 days my singing voice returned, and I could yodel again. My eyes stopped itching and I stopped sneezing. This air purifier has given me a better quality of life. I would recommend it to anyone.

App disfunctions
Yes, like many other posters, it doesn’t connect to your already 2.5 connection. It’s almost like it wants to make its own WiFi network connection. I’ve had product before like this and it came down to having to call the internet provider and asking them to manually make a new network by name. I am not sure how many partitioned networks you can have on any one modem but this certainly is misleading for many products. I guess manual operation is what I’ll do. However the product is a very good product. We have one on standby unopened in case one bites the big one. Hope you all can enjoy it as much as I am.

No More Headaches!
I have COPD and even before the fires here in the NW, I was waking up every morning with headaches. When we were enduring the smoke last month, I purchased a box fan and filter and it worked-but after some thought about my health condition, I took the plunge with this. I have been using it for 3 weeks now and my headaches are gone. I feel I sleep more deeply. It took all of 5 minutes to get it up and running even downloading the app and integrating it. When I go to bed I simply use the app on my phone to turn it on. I love the features on the app as well. Love this and highly reccomend!

Great helpful app!
I've only used the app for 2 weeks now. But thus far it has worked fantastic! It is very user friendly and easy to figure out. It also has connected and pulled up correctly each time. Now after having owned two of the Winix air purifiers (from Costco) and using this app for 15+ months for both of them, I can say that the app has been essentially flawless for me. I have had almost no issues with the functioning of the app. It is pretty simple and straightforward and easy to use.

Air quality
My Apartment is so toxic I don’t know where it’s coming from but since I bought my Winix I can avoid it, Winix let’s me know when the air is poor so that I can take the necessary steps to protect myself, as I keep it on, it filters all the poor air until the air is good, the app and the indicator on the Winix filter goes from poor to good, with the help of Wi-Fi Winix will continuously alert me thru the app of the current air status. Thank you Winix

Terrible User Experienc
1. You open the app and you are stuck on an infinite loop of Firmware Updates. You can never leave the Firmware Updates. You can't schedule them for later after you have finished doing what you are trying to do on the app, you know, like setting up a schedule for your "smart device". No, you are stuck in the Firmware Update Infinite Loop. 2. Somehow you have managed to get past the Firmware Update Infinite Loop and now it tells you your device is not connected to the Wifi. You click "Okay" and it is still not connected to the Wifi. Here's a suggestion: If the device is not connected to the Wifi offer to reconnect it to the Wifi. Its late 2023, you think the software developers would stop using 1980's interface practises.

Controls the unit remotely, but that’s about all.
Seems like a wasted opportunity. The app is clunky. To change settings from the home menu (which shows one or one of the units you have connected to it). Each unit (for multiple units) have to be selected one by one and can only be controlled individually. You have to select by swiping to view each unit’s home screen, and then go into a “settings” sub menu turn on the unit on or off, and make other settings. We have 4 units and it means we have to go through 8 screens to turn our units off or on. Ideally you should be turn the unit on from each unit’s screen, and not a sub menu, which would mean we’d only have to go through 4 screens. Even better still it would great if multiple units could be could be grouped and controlled together. Also IFTTT integration would be nice too. (For example to enable the air filters to come on when another sensor shows poor air quality in the heat men and all the windows sensor showed they were closed.)

This App is Terrible
This app rarely works properly. If the power is off, no matter how many times I touch the power button it doesn’t show that the unit is on. I have to manually turn the unit on & adjust the fan speed. When I try to change the fan speed on the app it rarely changes. I can continually press one of the fan speed buttons on the app and nothing happens. This is a terrible app and Winix needs to fix it or make a new one. I bought this particular model from Winix because the unit is upstairs & I want to control it from downstairs, but I can’t tell if it is on or off or what the fan speed is if it’s even on so it is useless to me. I’m disabled and it’s difficult to go up and down the stairs. Winix, please fix this!

Why is the WiFi on my purifier constantly blinking?
The air purifier itself is great. The App has some useful features like programming a schedule, filter life countdown and user manual. My problem with the App is that half the time it’s telling me I’m disconnected with the appliance when I just synced with it the previous night. I have two air purifiers in the house; one in the living room the other in the bedroom both are the same model. I’m starting to suspect that the App cannot distinguish the two; perhaps because it’s the same model? Maybe it gets confused monitoring two of the same model under the same network? Hope this can get fixed soon

Horrible app, bad cleaner, bad experience
One year later WINIX is a reject on all fronts- app, integration, web, air cleaner, filters, support experience. Inferior electronics, dysfunctional app. WiFi system fries itself after 6-8 months. Bottom line- buy a higher quality product from another company such as Dyson. I’ll tell you the same thing I wrote to Costco HQ– do not buy WINIX products. Bad support for app. Replacement air filter boxes arrive already opened, crushed, or both. Support largely consists of reset everything and try again for app/cleaner, or contact shipping carrier for supply issues. Very weak and inconsistent handling of user credentials across apps (iOS/Android) and customer web site (poorly implemented WordPress).

Absolutely awful app
Firmware update sent my device into a loop. Kept saying that the device was off after the update and it was still running. No way to avoid update if you want to use the app, awful. Then once I unplugged it and erased the wifi configuration and did the update again by literally just pressing the wifi button it claimed it did the update. Now the worst part is the control part of the app doesn't even work. Absolutely awful app total junk and should go back to the drawing board on this one. Do not buy this device for the app. Good thing I bought it from Costco because if it's totally annoying right back to the store it goes.

Great for tracking filters, no network info
As of Summer 2024, the Winix app is solid for tracking the life of filters in your units, as well as when you need to change the WiFi in your house and then tell your app/units to jibe. I just wish that when I tapped for more info on my units the app would be able to show me MAC and IP of the unit. Alas, the units are all a mystery device on your network. Otherwise, the units are stellar values and clean the air very well. From the Tower XQ to the C545, they all do great work.

If your WiFi doesn’t work, check this
Make sure your phone is connected to the 2.4G WiFi while pairing & registering. My attempts failed when my phone is set to automatically connect to the 5G band. After setting my phone to only auto-join the 2.4G band, it worked. Remember to switch back to auto-connect to 5G on your phone after the pairing/registration.

Still waiting for an untracked version!
After 2 years since buying a winix air purifier, which is a great product, I’m still unable to setup my device to connect through the app without sharing my location. One of the app description comments says that location is optional but that is pretty pointless as it allows be to create an account by choosing to not share my location, but doesn’t allow connecting to my air purifier without location tracking enabled. Just making it optional when setting up an account is meaningless, so it is useless for me and product update is misleading. Hope they fix it soon.

Outdoor AQ is Wrong
I love the air purifier! It’s been wonderful since we have a baby and no central air. However, I’ve noticed that the outdoor air quality is completely wrong. Our entire half of the state is currently under an unhealthy air advisory because we’re socked in with visible wildfire smoke. The weather app and state air quality app both say everywhere nearby is in the unhealthy range. This app says the outdoor air quality is good. I like being able to control the unit and monitor indoor air from anywhere, but this seems pretty problematic if I was solely using this to make decisions about my baby’s health.

C545 pairing broken on iOS 14
Update: Found a workaround that let me pair the C545. I had to allow it to use Precise Location (had to enable it in Settings -> Privacy -> Location -> Winix). That allowed the app to ask for Local Network access. After pairing, I turned off Precise Location and the app still works. Still poor pairing experience that needs to be fixed. Winix has no business knowing my location precisely. Will update stars when this is fixed. Original: Bought at Costco, can’t pair it. It’s stuck at trying to connect to on-device WiFi, likely due to the app not asking for Local Network access permissions. Should have been fixed by now.

It works!!!
It simply works for me. The instructions says use only with a 2.4ghz network not 5g network. Check your router. There is an option for 2.4ghz and 5g if you have both. On your phone, download the app, the first switch to the 2.4ghz network if you have one, connect via wifi and then link it with Alexa. Now mind you sometimes Alexa may not recognise this immediately. In this case, you can add that skill to you Alexa in the Alexa app.

New app - no bueno...
Just “upgraded” the app to “WINIX Smart” from “WINIX Smart America” and after needing to re-pair my unit (not sure why my account couldn’t transfer...) seemed to work great for all of a half hour. Not the app crashes within 5 seconds of opening it every single time. Reached out to support a week ago and haven’t heard anything back - never heard back from support last time I reached out either... The old app wasn’t great, but at least it worked for what it did. The purifier works great, but why pay for the WiFi version when the app doesn’t work at all, and it can’t connect to any other smart home stuff? This app is a flaming pile of garbage. FIX THIS APP.

Almost every time I tap on power in the app the filter turns on or off but the app doesn’t update to show that, the button is still highlighted like it’s still on when I tap power to turn it off. Some good features, one definitely missing.
The ability to see AQI history of the current day is useful, but the app doesn’t allow the user to see individual past days for comparison, only weekly and monthly averages. On a daily basis we see spikes in air quality related to cooking and other household activity, but we are unable to compare days to see if there’s a pattern. If the purifier and app are able to record daily AQI changes, why not make the info accessible? Seems like a missed opportunity in the app.

App does not actually track filter state
I have been using 10 C545 units for a year now. This app can use some valuable improvements. First, it’s not clear if the purifiers accurately reports state of the filters. When I replace filter with brand new filter, it stays at the low level and keeps saying it needs to be replaced. I have to manually use pinhole reset button for the filter status to update. Is the purifier going only by time duration since last reset? Second, the app is lacking in custom room names. How can I distinguish purifiers in different bedrooms with only a “bedroom” label? Why can’t I name the purifiers according to bedroom owner? Where is the “family room” label? Instead you have irrelevant labels like den and study. Third, it would be useful to have reminder notifications for the carbon filter change in addition to filter change.

Poor response time in app
I have really enjoyed the air purifier itself, but the application has a lot of room to improve. The interface on the purifier isn’t terribly intuitive so using the mobile app is my preferred method. The app has a very slow response time and sometimes doesn’t work without multiple taps in wash button leading you to not know what it has actually done. With a little work this could be a great experience and the overall experience with the product has been positive. Also, the Alexa integration seems to be broken.

Initial setup didn’t work, took a long time to figure out why
Connecting to c545 will not work without giving them access to your precise location. If you only enable general location, it will not let you proceed through the setup process (stops before picking a WiFi network, there’s no next button). News flash, that is not necessary to provide outdoor air quality info. The general location is still quite specific, just not my exact home address. So I assume you’re just after additional data to sell… no thanks

I like the AQ information but I wonder if more information could be provided in the app. I’ve wanted to know what might be causing the change in AQ when the led changes from blue to yellow or red. Additionally if the AQ is bad outside a link to a site like wunderground as to what is causing the bad air would also be interesting.

Poorly Designed-Not worth a frustration
Three attempts, three failures to connect. Router is next to unit, followed directions to a tee and it just won’t connect. I think it’s more marketing than any real value... the app that is. Purifier works well. But save yourself 20 minutes and frustration and forget the app. It’s just poorly designed. The onscreen prompts do little to help and instead of revisiting steps that didn’t work, it boots you out and you need to restart everything from scratch.

After about 5 tries (each time it fails you have to disconnect from the winix machine, unplug it, and then start all over) it will won’t connect to my network. Not worth it. I’ll just leave the little filter reset light blinking. What do I need a smart app for on an air filter anyway? Btw I don’t hate the purifier as much as I hate the app. Filter is okay, although replacement filters seem pricey compared to other air purifiers that I own. Glad there are Chinese knockoffs.

Fatal flaw
The app has a fatal flaw I’ve discovered that is hilariously overlooked somehow. Once a device needs a firmware update, if you can’t (or just don’t want to bother with it) complete that firmware update for some reason, then the app is completely worthless. Just delete it. It won’t let you off the nag screen to update the firmware. So if the wifi ever stops working on ONE of my machines then it kills the app for ALL my machines. What a stupid thing to overlook. This is why people are sick of smart devices that are implemented by people that are anything but.

Worst device app I’ve ever tried to use
Problems from the start. Disconnects from wifi randomly and doesn’t let me resync. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app, sign in, get prompted to update the firmware but get an error msg that I’m not connected to wifi. Then the app locks up and I can’t do anything, no less sync to wifi. Calling the company is useless. I’m told someone will call me back but the never do. The unit seems to work well but without the app, you lose functionality you paid for. I’m extremely frustrated.
