Won’t work with a VPN
I’ve been using this app for around 5 years and overall it’s great. Clean, functional, not many issues. It seems like this most recent update won’t work with my VPN though. I got an error message upon opening the app, tried a few times, checked that the app was up to date. When I disconnected my VPN the app started working again. This seems to be a new issue and it’s frustrating if they’re blocking users who choose a VPN for privacy reasons. I have all the correct credentials, including password and fingerprint, and I’d be happy to add 2 factor authentication, but I really don’t think users should be locked out for using a VPN.

Would like the option for multiple accounts
I have just opened a joint bank account with my husband, but I could not sign into this app using my email, and I called the bank to ask why this was the case. I got a hold of their app support and I was told that apparently only he can enroll in online banking as the primary account holder. He is also the only email that will be receiving information from the bank. Given that the point of a joint account is that multiple people are pooling their finances, I cannot understand how WSECU operates this way. I do not have access to my husband’s email, and I shouldn’t have to — I *should* have equal access as a member of the account. The app and online experience offer no alternative, and if I am incorrect about this lack of access, then it reflects poorly on the support person who did not explain a solution to me. I will be closing our account as soon as we have opened it and seeking a more functional bank. I haven’t even been able to try the app, but the instant roadblock led me to give it one star, which is, to be fair, more reflective of the bank’s practices.

Overall easy understanding app
My only negative comment about the app is how long it takes just to get to the Face ID or login page, feels like forever and I even timed it and averaged about 6 seconds. Other than that the app itself and the idea of how you’re supposed to use it within the mobile banking is pretty easy and self explanatory.

Great but frequent sign-in troubles
Decent app, comprehensive and not confusing or ad-bloated like some other companies apps are. My main issue is that I have problems signing in on IOS where it automatically signs me out or fails to sign in, and so I have to try again with Face ID. Usually takes 3-4 tries before it sticks, but really frustrating because when I need to check my balance (which is pretty often) it takes like 1 minute to log in and stay logged in, and then sometimes auto logs me out halfway through the session. Happens regardless if on WiFi or cellular data. Super frustrating

Gets the job done but app design feels intentionally frugal
I understand why they upgraded, as the old app was fairly retro. However I wish it wasn’t done as cheaply. It feels like the experience is just a website shoved into an iOS application; each page takes a few seconds to load and the visuals are cleaner but do not match existing iOS paradigms. Also, they force you to update the app every time there is an update available, which is pretty annoying. Still a fan of WSECU in general but there are definitely some improvements that should be made. Don’t want them to continue scaling up and stop caring as much about their customers.

Issue with app
I’ve been using this app for a long time. There used to be an old app without many (or any as far as I was aware) issues. However, there is 1 huge issue that plagues this app and makes it no longer worth your download. The “My Accounts” and “Transfer & Pay” tabs load infinitely. Now you may mistake this for taking a long time to load- I have an iPhone 13 and excellent internet connection. I set my phone up with a full battery and let one of those pages load. Several hours later, the page still hadn’t loaded, and I was forced to go onto the website to complete any banking. This app *does* offer online chat sessions, but will always have an error message if you attempt to use this feature. Although you can still deposit checks, this bug-ridden app has been in an unusable state for as long as I can remember, which is extremely unprofessional, especially from a banking company responsible for your money. I am beyond disappointed.

This is supposed to be an upgrade?
Honestly, I thought the old Legacy version looked antiquated and low budget...but it worked just fine...mostly (much of the time you can’t see a check image and the deposit was wonky at times). I finally got around to downloading this newer version and the first thing that shocked me was...not optimized for iPad??? What the heck? Why would you even release an “upgraded” version if it’s not even optimized for one of the major devices that people would use to access it? I reading there are a lot of issues regarding speed as well, and I experienced a little of that, but not a whole lot slower than the original app. I haven’t tried to deposit anything, so can’t speak to that functionality yet. I’ll stick with the old Legacy version as long as it’s around. Developers - try taking a page from American Express or Citibank...they have awesome apps that are user friendly, intuitive and obviously bench tested for errors.

Inconvenient
The old app logged in about 3 seconds but this one can take up to 20 seconds. Why? Update: received a response from the developers. Decided to time it and it took 17 seconds to get from pressing the app button to seeing my balance. It took about 7 seconds to get to the Touch ID screen, and then another 10 to get to the main page. I’m using WiFi on an iPhone 8. On the previous app the Touch ID screen would appear almost instantly and after authenticating my balance would be shown immediately. While I understand this app has more features, I don’t understand how the features could necessitate such a difference in load time.

Notifications speed
All of the apps that I use for financial tracking information provide options for notifications to insure that one is alerted whenever a sign on, withdrawal etc are completed. All of the apps that I use, except for yours; notify me by text instantly or within a minute except for WSECU’s app. It can take as little as 5 minutes or in the worst cases hours before I am notified. These slow alerts defeats the whole purpose of receiving them so I can be instantly aware that my account may have been compromised. This is by far the most important function for me. Please fix this!

Unhappy with Bill Pay
I keep checking this new app and keep hoping that it will improve. I’m going to be so unhappy when the outgoing app is gone. The Bill Pay on the retiring app is so much more user friendly. One of my favorite features is call Monthly Payments. With one quick click I can see all of my payees whom I’ve been sending payments to over the last few months. It’s a quick and easy way to verify that all of my payments for the month(s) have been made or submitted. For instance I can see, “oh, I have forgotten to add my water bill payment this month” or that I haven’t had a bill from Macy’s in the last three months, etc. Please add this feature into the new app!!

New BillPay makes me sad
I really like WSECU and the staff I’ve had the pleasure to meet over ~ 35 yrs But the last “upgrade” (?maybe?) sure downgraded the BillPay functionality. I can no longer set up monthly auto-pay for some prior accounts, including, for example: Bank of America, not a small or obscure player. Yes, I can set up auto-pay accounts at each of those merchants’ websites, but I avidly avoid doing so, in an attempt to skip the hassle of multiple accounts, each with its required user IDs/ p-words/ upgrades, etc. 😩

What is wrong with this app?
I never write reviews. I’ve been a WSECU customer for 20 years and do all of my banking remotely. The app has always been glitchy but in the last week or two every single time I log on I’m immediately automatically logged off. I have to log in repeatedly and hope I can get done what I need to get done before I’m logged off. This happened three times in a row this morning so I came to check if there was an update I missed but no I’m up to date. This is just a badly functioning app and unfortunately one I need to use frequently or by now I’d have deleted it.

Lost ability to see Quick Balance
The app was fairly good and I could find most things I needed fairly easily. However as of this past January 2021, the “upgrade” of this app took away the Quick Balance on the front page of the app. I didn’t realize how much I used it until it was gone. I have called & emailed WSECU, I even received a message that the feature was working. But, alas, it wasn’t. The feature does not work on my Apple platform devices. My devices are up to date & I have the current version of WSECU app.

Works, but could be a LOT better
Can be a pretty slow app, which is frustrating when most times I use the app it is for less than 60 seconds. Also, very little support for notifications. Bare minimum would be notifications for any transactions but all they offer are noti’s via eMail. The app also only works if the phone’s system language is in English. Not even the app, but if the operating system is on foreign language the app is unusable.

Is this really better?
I don’t understand how WSECU thinks this new app is better than the legacy app. The app takes longer to sign in and load as it seems more web centric. Clicking into accounts are not as seamless or quick as the legacy app. Sure it looks nicer and more modern, but it’s not really all that quick to pull and display information; and not as intuitive with for minimal clicks to perform a banking transaction. Using on an iPhone XS with gig speed internet...so I don’t think the issue is me. Not really up to par with other banking institutions apps. The legacy app spoiled me. Hope this gets better.

Love this app
I never have to go onto the website, now I just need my phone to be an atm, and will be able to all my banking from my phone. Some of my favorite features are freezing my card until I find it and the contacts page so I can quickly send money to people

Slow
Slow to boot up. Slow to load. Slow to switch functions. Unable to use FaceID after logging off (has to restart the app). And let’s not talk about the lack of iPad support. Not happy about this “upgrade “. OK...WITH the latest upgrade, it’s now usable on an iPad, and the speed issues have been improved. It’s now usable...

Awesome and updated quickly
I had a few issues and left a review and alerted the app devs a couple days later and they notified me my needs have been met and the functionality is already in the app rock on looks like everything is coming together for a better app experience That’s a nice change from some devs

Doesn’t work
The app doesn’t work at all. It opens and immediately crashes. After being updated, it does this on all of my iDevices. I would hope that this would be fixed soon as it’s inconvenient. Having to sign into the browser to do banking every time on my phone isn’t conducive to my time or the idea of “mobile banking”. Update: I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times. I have updated the app and my phone. Works great on the Google Play Store, but not the apple App Store.

Does not work in Japanese
It’s possible this is a bug for other (all?) non-English phone language settings, but at least when my phone is in Japanese, nothing loads in the app after authentication. Everything waits on the loading spiral, indefinitely. Actually the worst part about this app is there doesn’t seem to be any way to report bugs or make feature requests except by coming to the App Store and throwing out an arbitrary rating so that you can post a review.

Like the app…when it actually works.
It is a toss up whether the app will open up the first time or not. I have to often close the app and reopen a couple of time before it actual logs me in with facial recognition. It mostly either freezes in the green screen when first opening the app or just crashes and doesn’t open up at all.

Outside the CONUS access
I have difficulty keeping this updated or downloaded with latest update. It seems that the WiFi connections are not the best sometimes and then, I do a lot of world travel. It really disappoints Me, when I have to spend extra money-once a yr.- to lie to Your system, by telling it that I am somewhere that I am not, via a VPN, in order to access My acct.

Not an upgrade
This newer version is absolutely horrible. It’s not organized and it doesn’t even stay up to date on my account history. It’s the 25th now and I can only see back to the 13th... come on. To top it off, it won’t even save my password to login faster. I don’t care about the “quick balance” feature. Let me save my password. Also, I don’t need a 6 second WSECU logo upon opening the app. I know who I bank through, don’t need a reminder.

Convenient!
I like it. I’m a person who gets easily frustrated with apps not working or being poorly designed, but this app works and it has been pretty easy for me to figure out where the functions I meed to use are.

Stuck on view mode only
I’m not able to transfer any money out of my savings to my checking, I even deleted the app and reinstalled it and still same issue. Also on the transfer money tab to move and transfer money from whatever account, it only says my external bank but not my WSECU account checking and savings etc. needs to get it fixed.

Mobile deposit is a joke
You need to fix your mobile deposit feature! Half the time its under maintenance and the other half it cannot read the amount on the check, or gives an error stating try again later. Your previous app had no problems with mobile deposits, but I have yet to make a successful deposit with the new app.

Almost perfect
The app is easy to use. The only improvements I’d like to see is a option in loan payments to make additional payments paid go to the principal. Also would like the ability to set alerts if current loan rates lower.

Upgrade = Downgrade
New upgrade resulted in app not working intermittently, just a green screen, then frozen. So I cant access mobile banking 85% of the time. Using ios 14 on an iphone. Pretty common platform. Where’s the quality control on app development? The older version worked 100% of the time. What good is upgrading the visuals if the basic functionality isn’t maintained? Quickly losing trust and confidence

Won’t deposit checks
New app is ok. The previous version was more user friendly and easier to log into. Main glitch so far is that it completely locks up when I take a photo of my check. Had to force close the app twice and finally just used the old one that actually has a better check deposit interface anyway.

2 step verification
Upgraded a star because after my husband contacted the bank he was able to add my email so I can access it now without his permission. But now mobile deposit isn’t working. All verification codes are sent to my husband, so I can’t access our joint account unless he is present. No way I can see to add another email. Makes me feel like a second-class citizen. Can’t evaluate the app because I can’t get into it.

Love it- Payment Options Are Great
It’s very clean and well organized! I like that when you go to pay a credit card, you are offered 3 options: the minimum payment (and the date that’s due), the previous statement balance and today’s payoff. Very helpful! Much easier than making a transfer willynilly as some apps force you to do (or having to use the full website). Works great with Face ID. MobIle deposit was easy. Hide/show option is great to see what I want and when.

We love WSECU in this house!
I really like this app. It’s straight forward and doesn’t have many lay out issues. WSECU also has excellent customer service, so I can always call or go to my local branch if questions come up.

Too slow
The features are fine, but it’s significantly slower than the old app. I’ve found it to be quicker to just open a browser and log in online than use this app. One big plus is you can see pending transactions, which the old app was missing. Bill pay seems more difficult than it used to be - harder to make a quick single payment than the old app.

Was good
So I had zero issues with the app u til just a few months ago. Now, very few days or so I get the message that the app can’t find a secure server, I can’t log in and I have to delete the app, reinstalling about once a week. Not sure what the issue is but it’s frustrating.

Much slower
I used the old app for years and never had an issue. The new app is so much slower and I have to close the same notification every time I open it. I never use to have any trouble with mobile deposits, but now they just don’t seem to go through. I’ll hold out with the new app, hoping they get rid of the bugs soon. If not, I’ll happily go back to the old version.

Are things fixed yet??
I am very reluctant to download the new version when there are so many negative reviews and problems. The app is only given 3.4 stars!! I am VERY happy with it the way it is and do not look forward to having problems with speed and depositing checks! Please tell me these issues have been resolved.

Good when it works
Unstable, only opens once in a while and slowly, even on 5G. App should be more modern to compare to other banking apps. But biggest problem is it just doesn’t open very often. Using an IPhone 12 Pro so I know that’s not the issue.

I am done. So done.
I really was holding out for this app to get better. It just isn’t. With the speed issues and the pop-up issues that don’t go away and the spotty check deposits, I am done. The developers can only say they are working on it for so long. I have been a client for almost 13 years, and I get more disappointed day by day with the service WSECU thinks it is providing. I will be pulling everything from WSECU within the month.

Stopped Working
I use an iPhone 6s with the iOS 14.8 update. I can no longer open the app and it crashes after a minute. Something must have happened with the latest app update. I can delete and redownload the app and get about one operating session to check balances and deposit money. Is this happening to anyone else? It’s a shame, very useful app when functional.

Barely functional!!
While it does allow you to access your accounts online it crashes/quits less than two minutes into using it as you change between looking at different accounts. Extremely glitchy!!

Constantly getting error message
Frequently getting an error message that “this apps security policy has been violated. Please inform the organization.” It goes away when the app is launched again, but I only get about 30-90 seconds in the app before it pops up again. Like the app outside of this issue, but it makes it almost unusable.

I love this app over the previous one. More streamlined and easier to use. Nice to be able to send people not with WSECU money on the app rather than having to log in on my computer.

Useless
None of the features are actually working and I am unable to do anything other than login and view my balance. I’ve spoken with multiple bank representatives who always give the excuse that they’re perpetually working on updates to the app. A year has passed and I still can’t use the app for anything useful, like paying my loan.

A much needed and well-implemented replacement
WSECU made a bunch of great decisions with this app: 1. Started over with a new app, so the look and feel matched their website, and so there is a safe transition period for customers. 2. App supports multi-factor authentication (SMS) 3. FaceID/TouchID supported 4. Has an interface that looks and behaves like the website, so the learning curve is minimal 5. Seems to work well with VoiceOver (built in screen reader for the blind) This reboot was a good use of money and resources.

Still cannot use Bill Pay
Not super excited about this new version of the app. I went into bank today and asked about setting up Bill Pay so I don’t have to come in. Was told new app had it available. I just get a “Something went wrong”, call this 1-800 number and wait on hold until you give up.

I’ve gone through so many iterations of my passwords that I now rely heavily on my saved info on my pc now to pay my car payment, app is absolutely atrocious to log into! Biggest regret in my car loan is using this freaking garbage app! Gui for selecting payment source to destination is ridiculous and not one stop shopping! Overly complex for what consumers need it for!

Bring the old one back!
I rarely am able to login when I want to, and when it does work it takes forever. I also have issues with depositing checks. The only reason why I gave two stars instead of one is because there’s more information than the previous app.

Shouldn’t count as an app
I’ve not once had the deposit feature work with a check and now it stammers through an auto attempt before you can even manually try. Pitch black surface and all it can say is “please place on a dark surface” your app doesn’t even recognize it’s looking at a check. Ridiculous

This app and the mobile banking experience is truly a joke..half the time while trying to use the deposit feature it won’t recognize the amount on my check in the pics…it’s making doing business with WSECU a real nightmare I’m honestly about to close my account and take my business elsewhere
