The Five Star’s was a mistake. I meant to hit three. When I upgraded to the pro version in order to get the desktop version, I was hoping to see faster response, but it seems like an online experience, because there is a three second delay between the time that I choose an item and the time that it registers. at first, I thought it was my older Windows machine, so I brought a brand new Dell XPS with all the bells and whistles an extra ram that really did not do the trick when I tried it on a virtual windows on my Mac and still, there are delays. I would stick with the XPS but apparently you haven’t upgraded it for the latest windows machines because it crashes constantly and I’ve had at least three chat sessions where you guys took over my computer and spent several minutes trying to resolve it, but none of them could. it’s very frustrating when you try to write up a large claim and half of your time is wasted, waiting for the machine to catch up.
The app has seen some improvements, but it still has issues. I’m glad to see that you can finally find the line items a little easier. The app will randomly crash with no error. You still can’t grab and adjust an offset that’s 1 foot or less. The sketch still jumps around and zooms in at will. Selecting a wall usually goes like this: You select the wall, but get the room...not what you wanted...select again..now you have two things you didn’t want selected..you select a blank area to start over...you actually select what you wanted, but now some interior/exterior bubble popped up in the way...you select a blank area again...now your able to grab the wall and adjust it, but it won’t move...you grab it again, and are finally able to adjust it. If you have no patience, you will become very angry using this app. I think using the Apple Pencil amplifies the annoyances because it slides around too easily, but if you have fat fingers like me, then the pencil is your best option. It’s easier to roll your finger to get more precise measurements, but the Apple Pencil will slide back and forth past your measurement, and force you to use the wheel adjustment. It’s hard to get used to, and even harder to keep using. I can manually sketch, and draw from the office desktop, much faster than fiddling with the app, on site.
I don’t think this mobile version is ready for release yet. We definitely shouldn’t have to pay extra for the privilege of Beta testing a program with this many bugs. I was pretty excited about the AR-Sketch feature because it could help save so much time. I used it on 5 claims in one week and every one of them failed. The App would crash while in the middle of the sketch causing me to start over. It crashed once after getting back to the desk and when I restarted it 70% of the sketch was gone. I foolishly tried it on a large commercial building and when I got back to the desk I spent more time fooling with the weird misaligned walls tan it would have taken me to just do it the old fashioned way. I sketched out a 2 story Townhouse that looked great when n I finished it on site, but when I uploaded it to the desktop none of the rooms were connected, and every room from the two crashes while I was there showed up. So now I have a jigsaw puzzle to work on. We should be getting paid to work out the bugs not the other way around. This is definitely in the Beta phase and it definitely shouldn’t cost that much while performing this bad.
Long time xact user but first time cell phone app user. Its pretty good. It is harder to sketch the rooms on the small phone screen with your fingers than on a big computer screen but with practice I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. I tried out the report function and photos and it's different than on a computer but it's doable. I think a big phone or a small tablet would make it a bit easier just do things to screen size issues. Going to try to use this more in the field instead of pen and paper.
Xactimate, please update this app ASAP!! iPhone 13ProMax. 1. Photos and notations: recently while notating photos, I started seeing a glitch that wasn’t there before. If I take a few photos in a group and notate them it works fine. But if I go back and try to select just a few, nothing selects. I have to leave that folder and go back in and I can then select the photos I want. Sometimes, I’ll notate one or two, and when I go back to check the other photos I DIDN’T select, They’re all re-notated with the same note I added to the ONE I selected. This needs to be fixed. 2. If I take photos in a sequence, then try to move a photo, the app shuts down and I have to go through the reboot process. I have to leave that folder and go back in and it prevents that. 3. Anything I do with photos, before I can start a new photo capture, I have to exit that folder and go back in or the app shuts down. 4. Today the app got stuck in a reboot cycle while I was in the middle of an inspection. I think you’re doing well keeping up with the updates, but just keep up with app QC before rolling out new updates. These are vital to my claims process and the issues I described above are the difference between 5 good, detailed claims a day, and maybe 3. That’s thousands of dollars a week in losses. Please fix this ASAP!!!!!
Photos need to keep a copy on the tablets photo app.
I never use the photos function in Xact because it does not send a copy to the tablets photo app. As a result, if something happens to the esx file whether on the tablet or in transit in the cloud, there are no copies of the photos. I do not want to go back out to get photos I’ve already taken. Plus, if that were to happen, the risk is not in the same condition as it was at the time of my original inspection. There are so many reasons that would not be advantageous. If the photos were saved on the tablets photo app I would absolutely use the photo function on the mobile version, as it seems to be really good. Until that day, I’ll stick with my photo app.
I’ve lost many projects with the mobile app. It’s great, if it worked properly all the time! Simple things have been made hard. Why can’t I export pictures from XM8 to my mobile device? Why can’t I save the file to my device? That way, when it crashes-because it WILL-I don’t loose everything. If I don’t have an internet connection, and don’t upload it right away, it is most likely lost. I shouldn’t have to take duplicate pictures, and backup sketches! Totally defeats the purpose of the mobile! If it doesn’t work properly, it should never have been rolled out. Yes, I’ve spent hours and hours with the help folks-and still lost multiple projects. Multiple times. PLEASE FIX IT AND MAKE IT RELIABLE!!!!,
I have removed my old review of 1 star because they have fixed the photo editor section of the app… It appears they rolled back to the old photo editor, which is a blessing. Hopefully they will test it next time prior to rolling out an update, because it was awful for the past month or so. Now that it is corrected I can say this is an amazing app. Easily cuts down on my estimating time. Thank you Verisk
Please add in the handoff option. This would allow us to go into tight places with our phones and then switch over to our iPads when we are out. 9 times out of 10 the iPhone has a better camera and or flash option to provide light whereas most iPads do not. With the changes in technology being able to handoff between the iPad and the iPhone would make our jobs even easier and make the app even more appealing.
Love the app, but the update has a bug in it. I lost an entire scope and photo set today. Had to get the old digital camera and handle it the old way. I log in, I open the estimate and when I go to photos the app closes out. I restarted my phone thinking maybe it needed a restart to kick over and it’s the same. Hit photos and it closes the app. Fix it quick. I can’t take chances on losing everything I inspect.
I have written $450k estimates from my phone. Once you practice and you figure out where everything is you can do virtually everything on your phone or iPad. I prefer phone because it’s on me all the time. And you can hold a measuring laser and phone at the same time. Very easy to use. Cuts my estimating time down greatly.
I’ve been using XM28 for some time now and recently order the Professional version to help shorten my actual office time. At this point I’m still spending time either converting back to the online profile or transferring to 28 for simple fixes which the mobile isn’t doing at the moment such as - roof sketches does not group sunroofs under the estimate tree, the reports does not have the Statement of Loss report and completing my narrative. I feel this application is not a true mobile device until these are added for the working adjuster and/or contractor.
Dropped the app, dropped the online version. Using desktop X1, because we all know the hassles of Xact losing files(headache). App/online is clumsy & very slow. Limited line items, doesn’t convert everything to desktop seamlessly. Update issues. Had to be on phone multiple times through year subscription with issues to correct and albeit most were, just a waste of time which equals lost revenue. Desktop is over priced and the industry is sick too, guess why it’s the most regulated industry... but I digress. App & online not worth the cost. One could argue even the desktop version is overpriced.
Looks like they fixed the hang up with log out. Before if not done properly you would have to reinstall and you would loose everything on there. All the files you were working on, it’s fixed!!!! Charles
This has the potential to be one of the most useful apps out there. I like using this to get a claim ready for homeowners but I feel like half the time I try to use it it crashes on me. I’m using a iPad Pro so my hardware is current. You would think at $2000+ a year for a single license that they would be more on top of bugs. Also, why can I only use the online version on windows?!?! On top of that why can I only use it on internet explorer?!?!?!? Out of all of them you picked the most ridiculous one! Unbelievable!!!
Ever since the new update, Xactimate has become even more unstable to the point it’s useless. Before this recent update Xactimate use to crash but would save its self locally from time to time. Usually u would just to relogin and repeat the last action that it crashed on. Now with this recent update, it doesn’t seem to saving locally at all. When it crashes the entire estimate is wiped. This is unacceptable for a $2k license when our very depends on scoping losses. I’ve already lost 5 hours of rescoping losses due to this bug.
I work on an iPad Air 2with iOS version 11.2. Even with the latest version of iOS and Mobile the app becomes very slow when entering large sketches and/or estimate items over approximately 100. I generally write over 300 line items and would like to do more of that in the field, however, right now the app does not seem configured to handle this size of a loss.
I’m a project consultant contractor and this is by far the best program to use when writing my estimates the pricing list is updated monthly and everything you could potentially think of is available as a line item
The UX/UI overall is a pleasure to use. I do in office estimates on my iPad Pro. I absolutely love what you’re rolling out with moisture mapping built in. I’ve mentioned it years ago that XW was only a few steps away from having a Dash/Next Gear Killer. And I’m so happy to see it.
How about adding the ability to complete a General Loss Report or Narrative Report in the field? This would make it a true mobile platform without having to access X1 or 28 to complete the project.
Intuitive. Really great. Wish it would export estimates as PDFs
Works pretty good. Needs ability to generate PDFs. I’ve been out of the industry for the last four years and this was a nice surprise on my first day back. I managed to crash it once while attempting to drag a line item from one room to another. Running on iPad Pro 10.5” running iPadOS 13.3
Pricing and update contents are or have not seem many changes to the times. Pricing for water the same as prices go up on everything else our prices have stayed the same. Makes it very difficult to make money when our fees are higher than what we can charge for.
This would be perfect if there was an export feature. This makes reports quick and easy until we have to export them. Then the process sends us back to the dark ages. Please fix this or at least work on a browser other than antiquated explorer.
I like to make accurate sketches with blocked cabinets, vanities, sinks, toilets etc. mobile interface is not user friendly for long time Xactimate users who have a refined process with sketch and estimating.
I'm happy with the app but I took about 40 pictures and then set my iPad down without hitting save, did some other things and closed out the app loosing my pics. I'd like to see them just automatically save. Totally my fault but the app could be configured to have helped me.
Love this software. Need to see claim number with the name. Objects are difficult to adjust in sketch. Would like to be able to pre-name the image name when taking photos.
I can no longer label photos and cannot turn off the new feature that makes you edit each photo before being able to take another photo. This makes it difficult when in treacherous conditions.
I always have had a problem with xactimate. When I signed our agreement I was never told that I would have to buy a new computer to actually use what I have been paying for. Now trying to set up xactimate mobile is a brand new special nightmare. 2 months been trying to solve this problem. Thanks exactinate for allowing me to lose money.
Drawings on a photo disappears when viewing on a report
Whenever I draw on a photo within the app, the drawings disappear from the photos when viewing them in a report. I can see intention to do this in the video on the app page, but is effective in the application. I spoke to support and there are no fixes, only workarounds for this issue. When this is corrected I can give it more more stars.
The mobile app does not allow for Macros created either online or in X1 desktop to be uploaded or transferred. Components cannot be accessed to view or edit material pricing. The mobile app is 89% gimmick. Time for XM8 to wake up or get out of the way. This is an entirely mobile industry and you expect users to use a mobile app to capture measurements on their iPad in the field, upload to the cloud, log out of the mobile device, log into the desktop, download from the cloud to the desktop in order to complete an estimate? At least optimize for something other than internet explorer for crying out loud!
The program itself is incredibly bug ridden, and the app is worse! I have lost several assignments’ data using the mobile app. There should at least be a way to dump the raw data so I can retrieve it on another device and not lose all the time, effort, and hard work put in on each claim.
The company has yet to address the issue of losing photo captions when manipulating photos. Overall it is a good tool to use in the field, but losing work lowers productivity.
The system keeps saying it has lost connection. Then when I close the file it jams and will not open. I have to turn the phone completely off then reboot. The as I left file I got an error message that did not stay on screen long enough to get a screen shot.
I love the app! Makes my job much easier. But since the latest update, every time I try to download a new claim off the notifications tab, it crashes. Please fix.
Up until the app crashed I was happy with the performance. Now I have lost 4 files with all photos and sketches. I’m not sure if I will be renewing my subscription for the mobile application as it is fairly expensive and has now resulted in me loosing time and revenue. Very disappointing at this time and I have no faith in the performance of this service.
I understand the premise for large companies. But for smaller companies, getting access to files and sharing files in PDF format is always a chore to figure out.
I have had to uninstall and reinstall the app twice because alI I would get is a blue screen. The first time I lost a two story home estimate. Very frustrating. There should be some kind of back up on the iPad itself.
Does not read ESX files and no way to upload using a mobile device. Extremely slow. What sense does it make to require a mobile app to have super fast internet connection for any tolerable level of performance? Just one of worst pieces of software I’ve ever seen.
I have the latest iPhone and the last month or so I haven’t been able to open the app. I have done all of the updates and it force closes every time I try and open it.
Xactimate mobile is the first fully realized mobile estimating app. It allows professionals to build an estimate from start to finish from their iOS device, and it works seamlessly with Xactimate’s online and desktop platforms. *Some features, such as generating reports or downloading price lists, require internet or 4G access.
