Makes lawn care fun!
I really enjoy taking care of my yard and this app is a big reason why. There are so many lawn products and maintenance plans available that it’s difficult for the average DIYer to figure things out. I used to hire professionals, but now with guidance I am comfortable doing it on my own. I have a few suggestions to improve the app. It would great to have a calculator built in that would give you the quantities of product you need based on ounces or pounds per square foot. For example, if you needed 3 ounces per 1000 square foot, you could input the square footage and the app would give you how many ounces or milliliters you need. The calculator could be manual or even better it could be calculated automatically when a user taps “complete this step.” Also, it would be nice to have the ability to submit questions to a forum. I have questions at times but don’t have a place to ask. One thing I wonder is that I have a large yard but don’t have money to install an irrigation system and the water pressure where I live is too low to set up multiple sprinklers. Am I wasting money fertilizing when I know my grass will brown up and go dormant during a hot summer? Just a few ideas for you to consider, but overall a great app.

More tabs
I really do enjoy the idea behind this app, a calendar tab on the bottom would be useful so that you could actually see the days laid out instead of just saying you have X amount of days til the next app. Also adding in over seeding in the journal portion, you would just to have they type of seed thrown down. Watering times and days would also be helpful so you remember what days your watering, if it rained, if you changed the length of watering time due to drought conditions. Mowing schedule would be awesome as well, and all these come back to the calendar tab which you could access and see all of your info everyday. Just designate colored dots or lines or something for each ex: green=mow; blue=watering; yellow=fert; red=weed killer; etc. then you choose a day and it pulls up what’s going on or what is scheduled for that day. Another feature that would be nice is to be able to have separate sections of your lawn. Like the front and back yard, or side yard. For example if you put down grass seed in your side lawn and did not in your front lawn but did fertilize the front the same day you seeded. The next up tile would be different times for each section.

Almost awesome.
Very promising app. Like the other reviewer I would like to edit the main home screen task completed date as well. You can edit the journal dates but it saves whatever day you open the app and tap done on the alert pop up. For example I clicked done on April 8th so now the home screen says I put down pre emergent on April 8th when in my actual journal I put down pre em on Feb 16th. Additionally dates in the journal are listed in the order you entered them. Would be great if you never forget to put something in your journal or like me you download it after you have already done several apps and try to log them for reference. My journals order is now April, Feb, March. Would be nice to have them refresh in order. Lastly I would like to be able to choose what picture shows as the thumbnail in the journal list. I uploaded multiple photos per entry but no control over what the thumbnail is. Overall great start. Needs some tweaks though.

Love the app
Been using since the beginning and I will say upfront that I love the app. My only suggestion/idea was to be able to choose which plan you are on (I.e not just warm season, but all liquid, or Florida blackout, or granular/liquid mixed) based on the guide, in that way all of the reminders on the home page are based on the plan that you choose to do. Otherwise, loving the app and it beats keeping a journal in a book, although I still want to in case something crashes and all data lost. Keep up the good work, no complaints here, only ideas. Ps Bring back the podcast for my morning drives to work

Enjoy The Journaling
This app gets off to a good, basic start and I know there will be great updates ahead. It’s basic and super easy to use while providing a, much needed, centralized place to keep track of your lawn journey. I am noticing that double entries are recorded when journaling. I’ve had to delete the duplicate entry each time. Probably an easy bug fix. My Wishlist for enhancements includes being able to modify the date on the completed tasks that link to the periodic reminders. Next, a calendar would be a useful visual. Making our plan shareable would be a cool feature as well. Lastly it would be helpful to have cost tracking. Tracking of irrigation, enhancements, and products related to yard maintenance. My goal is to minimize expenses and it would be nice to be able to track expenses from season to season. The way I see it, the healthier your lawn, the less you spend to maintain it. THANK YOU Yard Mastery for developing this app.

Good start.
I used to use the scotts app but I recently moved to this. I’m probably not going say anything that has an already been said but it is of course a work in progress. It keeps telling me that I need to login even though I’m already logged in which is kind of annoying but I just X out of the warning. It would also be nice if it kept track of your purchases within the app kind of like the Home Depot app. Once the bugs get worked out and the user interface is smoother out, this will be awesome. Backing up the journal to icloud and/or google is going to be a must. With the scotts app you can go back in time and review several years worth of applications but I did lose all of my data at one point and had to reenter it. Good job, I look forward to what lies ahead.

Custom program locked behind a soft paywall
If I downloaded this right now, I will definitely give this a lower rating. But to give a bit of credit for the previous functions, I am keeping this at 3 stars. Right now, the custom program is locked until you purchase a soil testing kit that’s only from Yard Mastery. No way to link other soil testing that you got somewhere else. It doesn’t matter if you purchased fertilizers, biostims that have been recommended before. So now, it doesn’t recommend anything until you spend $30 for their kit. It’s not like I’m freeloading, the app already made me purchase a couple of stuff to give oomph to my lawn. I guess I’ll start transitioning to a different app for keeping track of my applications. Kinda disappointed on the direction this app is going.

Great Free App
I love LCN watching his videos for years. He has helped me understand how to take care of my yard. I have so much more to learn but he explains so well. I am using his products as well and will update its effectiveness after adhering to the program properly to provide the appropriate feedback. I have no doubt his products will work and the price is affordable for what you are getting. The App has some quirks but it’s feee so the best thing to do is be patient that it improves in performance. Overall the app is abundance of info and how to take care of yard and I love you can log everything you do.

Awesome & Thanks!
I’m new to lawn care, and in fact, I detested lawn care so badly, I ripped out over a 1,000 square feet of it! However, after creating a miserably hot backyard and discovering the Lawn Care Nut - Allyn Hane online and I decided to give it another go and reinstalled that 1,000 square feet and downloaded this app. Thanks to all the folks at Yard Mastery, I’ve got a beautiful and healthy lawn! I appreciate and understand lawn care far more now, and I’m actually enjoy getting out there. Yeah, the app is a work in progress as is my lawn and keep up the great work on the updates! I’m grateful for it and have also experienced a few bugs. Good suggestions out there, some completely unnecessary for me. I can’t help wondering if those people would be willing pay to see those bells and whistles integrated? Thanks again for a great free app and all the work that went into it to make lawn care and throw’r down enjoyable and successful! Sue Paso Robles, CA :) Sue

3 Stars for participation
This application is a work in progress and currently feels like a sales tactic for specific product. If the developer changes a few things and adds to the application it could be worth while. My recommendations -select multiple lawn grasses. I have warm in the front and cool in the back. Make multiple lawns and allow user to name them ‘Front yard’ etc -Rainfall tracker/when to self water. I don’t have an irrigation system, but I would like a notification when it’s time to apply water. It would be nice if it knew how long it had been since rain and it also knew what’s forecasted. -remove product names. Notify me when to apply fert, pre emergent, water, grub control, insecticide, fungicide. Ask me how the lawn looks for post emergent control and prompt me to apply it if the yard needs it. I will not continue using this application if they stick with their product line. Many of the products are either not something I would purchase or not something I would apply at that rate etc. This application has serious potential and I hope the developers listen to their users. Thank you!

Very helpful
Ive always wanted a maintained lawn. Im very busy like many with work, kids, and other obligations. I would try to remember to mow on the weekends and maybe buy a bag of fertilizer here and there when at a big box store, but I was never consistent. Once I started using this app and purchasing my needs through it, my yard has never been better. It still has a ways to go after many years of unintentional neglect and insane Texas summers, but Im proud to say Ive kept up in fertilizing, mowing and tailoring my lawns exact needs using this app.

Thanks for the help with your experience. I found you on U Tube I’m trying to dominate my small community in So. Cal. Actually I just want a healthy lawn. Through you I found John Perry who I also enjoy. I started last October I’m not trilled yet with my yard but I’m being patient I look forward to the future if I can afford $ it. I’m being dominated by a neighbor who uses Vigaro 24-0-0 ? His lawn is perfect year round. I’m stumped. I hope you keep making videos I enjoy seeing you in the lawn ! Thanks Don

Very impressed
I really like the direction this app is going. I see some real potential in record keeping. However, I noticed a few quirks while entering data in the journal. It seemed entries could not be edited and when they were edited, they actually created a duplicate of the same entry - at least until the app was shut down and restarted. Then the duplicate entry was gone. Very odd. I would also like to see a wider variety of commercial fertilizers in the application list. For example: Estate is a very popular brand in the Chicago metro area. In any case, I really like this app and am looking forward to watching its development! Good work!!

Not bad eh, over by dar
Tim from Michigan, I would just recommend adding the soil test results to the profile that way you can build off of the recommendations that are provided. It would also help if with the recommendations you guys could incorporate the liquid “stuff” (that’s tech talk for noobs) humic12, rgs, air-8, etc I also would like to have a way to change the time on when I apply an application or add an event to my journal. I usually sit down after and add all the info into the app. As it stands I applied a pre emergent before I mowed my lawn for the first time. It states I also did them at the time I put them into the app, which was around 9pm. Would be nice to change that time in the same spot as the date. Pictures work well so far, as well as adding app rates. I can delete things and haven’t had an issue with address or lawn size problems as others stated. Other than that I’m enjoying the beta and testing out what I can :D

Too early to rely on
I love LCN and really want to love this app. It’s just not very trustworthy right now. Entries I make sometimes appear double posted and sometimes vanish. It means I have to enter in the app AND in my original log on the notes app, defeating the purpose. Images I upload with my entries can’t be viewed in detail and are kept too small to be useful. There is no calendar view to see the bigger picture. The list view of entries don’t show any information beyond the title, so you have to open every entry to see what it is. The prompted products and rate for application are pretty limited and it’s not a function I find useful. Here’s hoping that this is ironed out as it goes. For now I’m keeping my notes app updated instead.

Not Ready for Primetime
Started out working well. Then daily average soil temperatures became stuck on the same soil temperature for days. Now the daily average temperature has been dropped from the app and no longer visible. The latest version has a new link to the shop feature where most of the granular fertilizer and pre-emergent products are “unavailable.” The product description says to click “email me when available”, which doesn’t exist, so impossible to click on. Not very useful for South Florida lawn care. Journal works but so does recording applications using my spreadsheet. The app has potential but communication about the changes has been poor and the new release is underperforming

Makes lawn care enjoyable
"I've been taking care of my lawn with this program since 2022 and I really love it. My lawn looks spectacular and I can't wait for my next soil test to restart the program. The only issue I've had is adding certain products like GreeneEfFect and Hydretain. When I try to add them, it doesn't let me; it's as if the app gets blocked. Thank you Yardmastery for the time and dedication and for providing a program tailored to our needs. Thanks."

Enjoying
I really like being able to track everything in one place. It's nice being able to jot down any notes and record application rates. Future enhancements: I would really like to see a calendar view where you can have a visual aid and see when you put things out. It may also be helpful to have it link to any soil test you had done. My final thought would be to have the ability to add lime or sulfur options to adjust the pH for your lawn. Keep up the good work.

Good app!
Love this app. Helps keep me on track of what I have done in the TTTF lawn. After starting with Allyn in 2016 watching his videos, my lawn got better and better but I forgot at times what I did and what I threw down. The app changed all that. Now I can look back over the past year and see exactly what I have done along with the pictures. Now even the lawn pros who do my neighbor’s lawns stop and gawk. I just turn them on to the Lawn Care Nut movement! Ha!

Not bad
A little buggy. Occasionally it will show no calendar, you have to go back a year, then forward a year to get it to show up again. Store integration is helpful, but a little confusing, even after purchasing the item remains in your cart. Like the journal, but if you journal 2 products in the same day only 1 shows up. Was a little confused about that at first, but can see they’re both listed, just only 1 shows Looking forward to completing the year and seeing my grass health get better.

Everything I need in one spot!!
The journal, local temperature, suggested applications in the calendar, N,P, K ratio calculator and the lawn measuring tool makes, had mame my go to tool. For several years Allyn has been providing sound, professional “free” advice to the lawn care community, that I feel in debt with hence, I support this American and Fellow Veteran by getting the best products available from him. High hopes for improvement
Really looking forward to this app but pretty much unusable out of the gates. Unable to save my account settings. This means I can’t choose my grass type, yard size, or save my address for the location-based soil temperature averages. I’m sure it’ll get sorted in a few days, but a disappointing first impression. I’ll re-rate when basic functionality gets restored and bugs get squashed. UPDATED: developer was incredibly responsive and advised a workaround solution. Everything working fine now. Great app concept!

Fantastic App & getting better all the time... come along for the ride !
Have been a user since beta and have seen the “minimum viable product” iterate and become ever richer in content. Fantastic companion for the “guides” which are offered separately and explain the why behind the suggestions in the app (which are getting more and more precisely targeted & personalized with each release). See you in the lawn !

Super helpful
I forgot a couple of important steps on my lawn last year resulting in more POA than usual this year which has been very frustrating. This app is spot on with what steps I would normally follow and has them all listed out on a calendar so I don’t forget anything which is very helpful! I’ve also been adding my mow dates in the journal so I remember when I mowed last.

Beautiful Yard
We moved into our current home 10 months ago and the previous owner did not take care of their lawn. Instead of hiring a service we decided to purchase all the supplies we needed from The Lawn Care Nut. What a difference! We have the best looking yard on our street! Thank you so much for all the tips and the calendar is a great help!

Missing the one thing I was hoping for
I downloaded the app for one reason, but apparently the feature isn’t there yet. I want a reminder when my spring soil temp reaches 50 degrees and also 65 degrees for my area. Edit: Increased my rating to 5 stars. You do get notifications, but I think it's based on your initial location setup. No need to manually set soil temps!

Downloaded based on a recommendation from the LCN. Great app concept! I’ve noticed the duplicate journal entries bug that some others have mentioned, but know that you guys have it in your backlog to fix. Everything else seems to be working great. I just downloaded today and started playing around, so I’ll continue to provide feedback if I come across other issues/feature requests!

Ph2 - Improvements
I’m a novice therefore certainly have a perspective as to how this seemingly high potential app can emerge into a bible that I can use through out the year. 1. Guide book on the type of grass - with Alan’s tips. 2. Expert recommendations on lawn care plans - Alan’s tips 3. Seasonal plans by location/grass type 4. Tree care. Shrub care. 5. Tool recommendations (and coupons?) 6. Products that Alan uses (the throw ‘em down stuff) 7. Personal plans - paid subscriptions. Ability to be able to post questions and pictures, for expert advise, recommendations and lawn care problem solving. 7. Lastly, videos on subject matters. Hopefully that covers just about everything for newby lawn care nuts just as me. 5 stars in advance. Thank you!

Thank you Allyn for developing this app! This is one stop shopping for all the tools and information needed to maintain a beautiful lawn. Having the lawn, measuring journaling, fertilizer, calculators on one place is helping me, maintain my lawn without over applying any fertilizers or herbicides, which makes me feel better about the environmental impact of my lawn care.

Absolutely Awesome Program
Anyone who has any turfgrass to maintain will truly benefit from this program. It outlines proven strategies and formulas for maintaining both cool season and warm season grasses. The Yard Mastery app is fantastic. If you are trying to grow or maintain any turfgrass then this program will educate you, and make your decisions a lot easier to develop a superior lawn.

Could be better, likely never will be better
It’s a solid idea. I don’t mind pushing (shilling) products but if the dev team could disable all the prefilling of applications and steps this may be useful. I spend more time deleting stuff I don’t and will never do or use. Again I get you need to push paid for products to support the app. But until I can just pay $5 for a clean version I’ll keep using my outlook calender and a simple spreadsheet. So close yet so far. Shame.

Rain/irrigation totals
This app is very helpful and has been beneficial to my lawn strategies. It would be super helpful if there was a way to track rainfall or irrigation totals. Something like a little rain gauge that you could add amounts too and visually see your lawns water needs over time. Just a thought, the app is amazing and look forward to future releases.

New Lawn Nut
I’m new to the whole lawn thing. I grew up with one, but I never really understood what or why I did the things I did. It was just part of the job. Now that I have a “lawn” of my own, I want to improve it and make that turf green and soft. I did my 2nd app of pre-e and some fert and recorded it here on the app. Very intuitive, and I love the average soil temps and the prompts for what I need to do.

Works when it wants to
I’ve had this app for at least a year and my account has always stayed signed in. Out of the blue it now signs me out every time I close the app. In addition to this, the password field glitches with auto fill and it’s very frustrating trying to get the “login” button to light up/work. This really is a great app! Easy to follow instructions and reminders. Would be awesome to add or select what your goals are for the lawn and a more advanced plan will be there auto-magically. Let’s say I really, REALLY want to throw er down, let me decide that and magical Allyn will tell me how to throw it and even dumb it down like, “you have GreenePunch, make sure you put it down at ...oz per 1k”. Need to be able to add our own products names
Only allowed to use your products or have a generic option for other. We need to have an option to preload our own products and hide other products we don’t use. We should also have the option to override “other” when we happen to use a product for the first time and want to show the product by a name vs other. Long way to go before this product becomes useful.

Great App in Active Development
Great app and does everything you need. Many of the glitches experienced when first downloaded on its initial release date, have since been corrected; or in the works (I assume). One thing still needing is broader product listings for journal entries; such as all the GreenCountyFert lines (FloraGreen, etc.). Would recommend product to others; and have.

Decent but buggy
This is a decent app. Good features. They are updating it frequently and adding features which is great. However the only downfall is that it is very buggy and can act unpredictably. I think YardMastery would be better off pausing on adding features for a little while and allowing their developers to squash some of those bugs.

Very Clunky
Been waiting for an app like this. Unfortunately it still needs a lot of work. Journal is very clunky when trying to make entries. It double entries or you can’t save or view it unless you force close the app and reopen. Then it doesn’t show your previous month entries or they disappear then come back randomly. I’ll hold off using until it gets fixed. Easier to make entries in my notes.
