8BitDo Ultimate Software

I ordered the ultimate wired xbox controller because it appeared to be the ultimate in customization & also featured custom Macro settings…. The custom macros feature is not featured in the ultimate wired for xbox. The ability to adjust the dead zone on both sticks should be really handy when stick drift eventually strikes & will extend the controllers life span. So far it’s holding up well with roughly 60hrs in game time, knocked off the couch onto the floor by my dogs more times than I wanna count without issue. One of the greatest features is the design of the wire itself… 6in from the USB connector is a barrel connector & it has saved my xbox from being jolted or pulled of the self by two dogs that seem to have difficulty lifting their paws high enough to recent the wire from getting hung up on a leg or two. It really woulda been nice to have the macro feature when I’m playing MS flight simulator thou.

The basic functionality seems to be done easily. Three profiles for different games is nice and the information gets transferred to the controller quickly. However looking past the trigger/joystick/vibration settings the rest is just boring. No updates, no turbo ability, no macros. Not even the ability to pick different buttons not a standard Xbox controller when playing a pc game that requires a few more buttons. I would love as many options as the steam deck remapping. Or to export/import settings for when I visit friends.

I had dramatic issues after updating the firmware of my 8bitdo Pro 2 on my iOS device, until I did a hard reboot of my iPad. It seemed like my buttons were completely rebound for the A for Apple switch on the bottom until rebooting. This resolved the issue but this app could be more clear in a couple of ways

The couple reviews I read said it’s not working for their 8bitdo sn30pro plus. This software is designed to only work with the new, not yet released 8bitdo pro 2. The sn30pro + you still need software on your pc. That being said, it’s the same design, same functionality, just for a new controller. If you have/will have an 8bitdo pro2, this is a great tool to fine tune sticks, triggers (no trigger sensitivity for switch mode), back button programming and dead zone tuning. Highly recommend.

Whats the point of this app if my 8bitdo Pro 2 loses connectivity all the time in the middle of gaming online? You guys update the app all the time. Fix the connectivity with my controller 1st. This app and controller seem like a half baked concept if you cant rely on a simple thing, being connected to my system wirelessly. I’ve bought 2 controllers that do the same thing. The app would be cool if the controller worked. I’ll try the Fusion Pro. I would rather use the SN30 Pro, they don’t drop out in the middle of playing a game. I feel like you guys jacked $100 from me. I wont use the 8bitdo Pro 2 or the app again

Great App, controller is really good also. Not many controllers for the Mac so you don’t usually get to be too picky. But the app and the software make for a powerful combo. The only thing I wish is that you had more than 3 button assignments. Why so many extra buttons it would be ice to do more than L/R 1,2 and 3. Right now yo have 4 buttons including the bottom triggers but only 3 assignments. Doesn’t make much sense. I would prefer to have the extra L4 and R4.

I’ve been using this controller extensively for the last few days for my switch and have been very happy with it. My highlights would be how satisfying the rumble is and how easy the app is to use, you don’t even need to disconnect the controller from the switch, it’s very easy to update button layouts and macros on the fly.

so I just purchased this controller to use as a shortcut remote for the iPad And am frustrated to discover there is no key bind for Cmd. The Ctrl key does not read AT ALL for Cmd Shortcuts which renders half way shortcuts unusable. Please fix this! Edit: figured out the iOS/Mac Cmd key is the Win Key (this key is found under key combos)…not very explanatory but I hope this helps anyone who comes across this.

Everything has been working as it should—pretty intuitive too, setting up profiles and all. One thing that is missing though is the SPACE key within the “Key Combo” tab. There are keyboard shortcuts that utilize the space key but without it as an option those shortcuts can’t be added.

The iOS rebinding is pretty good but has a fundamental flaw in that you cant reassign a stick to a button (one particular game uses the right stick as a “toggle” for the ingame map lol) which is an issue when using a m30 bt

This app is for the pro plus 2 which isn’t even out yet! People here are complaining because it doesn’t work with their standard pro plus, but the app is for the PRO PLUS 2 which isn’t out until later this month! Learn to read people

I bought 2 8BitDo controllers (1 Micro and 1 Zero 2) to use as productivity remotes while drawing. This app works great on Mac, however I am missing the Spacebar key in the Key Combos option for keymapping. Seems like an oversight? Hope they add it! I'm 1 button short of making an ultimate hotkeys controller for Clip Studio Paint.

This app is fairly polished and works well. I want more features like macro recording instead of just making macros through the app. Syncing and updates works fine.

Do not let it update your controller firmware to 3.0, it will stop getting recognized as a Bluetooth device by the iOS. Stay with 2.1. If this happened, or the controller got bricked in the process (as mine has been) you can roll back using the a USB connection to your home computer and their official firmware update tool. Just roll back to 2.1 and everything will be back to normal.

I love this app and think it is amazing. I just wonder why no support for SN30 Pro +? I want to upgrade to the pro 2, but currently lack the funds. I would at least like to see a separate app for the SN30 Pro+.

No custom mapping on iOS. This isn’t mentioned anywhere in the manual or in the software until you flip the switch to “A”, at which point you’re informed that custom mapping is only supported by EVERYTHING but Apple. Why is there an iOS app if iOS isn’t supported?! On top of that, it won’t even work in certain games (yet I can use Xbox and PS controllers in those games just fine).

Love this app for keyboard shortcuts and art programs. It’s missing the option to add certain key combos like “Ctrl -“ and “Ctrl =“ for zooming in. I love how fast the keyboard syncs and the ability to save different profiles though! Also doesn’t convert certain keys for Mac Ctrl=command, alt= option so forth so most shortcuts won’t even work on Mac

Just got the Pro 2 and this app is extremely simple to use and syncs the profile you make very quick too

I have apple products and play games on an iPad wish you could configure controls with this app and the Bluetooth controller which would make this ideal

Seems like a cool app but wish it worked for mine 😕 I see in the update history there have been a couple updates too the app to make it work better for the pro 2 but it would really be nice if people with the pro+ would be able to do anything with the app

This needs to support their other controllers. I’m quite upset that I can’t configure my “Ultimate Bluetooth Controller” with this. And they don’t have other iOS apps. It did offer to and update my firmware though. Hopefully that didn’t screw anything up lol I’d be shocked if a real developer couldn’t get this supporting other models in a week or two.. Get on it 8bitdo!

For a company that makes reliable products, this partner app is pitiful. It does nothing. Even when the sn30 pro is connected to my phone, the app is just a stationary image of a phone next to a controller. Waste of storage space on iPhone. Do not download. They obviously don’t care to keep their products updated.

I tried the A for iPhone and had really bad lag. Did a little google search and found out that you have to use X mode.

Hi there didn’t have issues until I updated to version 1.02 and now the device loses connection every 5 mins. Heard about a beta update but please fix and also fix connection on 12 pro max on iOS 15.0 and up!

Got my Pro2 in the mail today and it paired super easy and was very ready to reconfigure. This is my new favorite controller. 😭

Mainly use this on MacBook for macros. Noticed there isn’t button mapping for the Command key which gives limited options.

App is seemingly unable to Desync with an old controller. Meaning if you update or get a newer controller, you will need to use a different device with fresh version of app, as App seems to be ONLY capabale of permanently syncing with 1 controller, with no way of using App on a newer or replacement controller.

Hello. I want to say that this app is great for a lot of the 8bitdo controllers. I do want to add something though on the 8bitdo pro 2 controller or originally the snes controller. The feature I would really recommend is to be able to change the speed of the rate that the turbo function can output. On nintendo switch, the controller is quick but on a android it is even quicker. Can you make a setting that adjusts the speed of the turbo function?

Controller disconnects VERY often, the controller needs and update and they haven’t updated it since July I believe. Horrible product that used to be good. Please update the 8BitDo Pro 2, controller is faulty as heck since last update.

I connect my controller to my iPad, open the app and all it shows is a picture of a phone and a controller with blue circles coming out. I have tried everything with both the controller and the app and nothing happens. Please help.

Doesn’t connect with the app. Typical Chinese inexistent support, had issue with a controller that was under warranty and no help, keep getting the same update fw until they stopped responding

I tried to pair controller with iOS in both ways - via normal iOS’s settings and as mentioned in gamepad manual “pair with app”. In both cases the app doesn’t see my Ultimate Controller.

was on 1.08 and the app said I need a firmware update to 3.00, but after it finished my controllers don’t work at all and the app says they are now on 0.44 and it keeps trying to update to 3.00 repeatedly

I’ve been trying to connect my ultimate controller for three hours. On all of my other iOS devices. Unfortunately, it just shows the phone icon in the controller icon. Nothing happens.

Hey, can you guys make this app compatible for the Sn30Pro+? The only way I can configure the settings for my Sn30Pro+ is by using a PC to do it, and I don’t have access to a PC unfortunately.

Cannot delete profile as of 2/8/22. I will update to 5 stars when this bug is fixed.

App does nothing but show a screen with a picture of the phone and the controller. It does absolutely nothing else.

Bought the Genshin Impact controller and this app is unable to connect to it for me to remap the keys. Useless app. Controller works well for now.

I just got the latest controller and this device and the app work perfectly together. You can even modify it while you’re playing a game (provided you pause the game first.) So far I’ve had no problems. I tested the macros and they work fine. it helps with certain fighting games.My only complaint is that it does not include any of the Lite controllers

8bitdo Hello!I have been buying various controllers from you for many years and you always do a tremendous job!I have close to 20 controllers now.I have contacted your customer support team on a number of occasions over the years on trying to get this app or a new app to be able to update ALL ‘BLUETOOTH CONTROLLERS’ over the air,through an app,iOS/Android??A lot of people do not have p.c’s to perform these updates.Please consider doing this,I think it would be a real convenience for a lot of people.I appreciate it and Thank you for your time.
