For the past couple of versions, playback controls are very buggy. Trying to slide the timeline while playback is happening is not working. You have to use the “next” button to play the next clip rather than just being able to slide to it. In a long clip you should be able to drag the timeline left or right to get to the time stamp you want. Additionally, in a professional system like ACS you should be able to export and share a clip on the iPad or iPhone like you can in the Companion app. Lastly, playback speed controls would be nice if feasible.
The app works but it's slow to connect to a camera (few seconds) and it doesn't seem to support audio. I can hear the audio from the desktop but not from the iOS app. Also it forgets my preferred stream quality. When connecting from wifi to local LAN server I always want the high quality profile.
This app has come far. As a platform integrator, we’ve experimented with various VMS systems. In our informed opinion, Axis Camera Station is the “lightest” and most stable of all our tested apps. They’ve packed a lot of the most used functionality into a straightforward app that doesn’t overly compromise battery life. Bottom line, the older reviews of this app similarly aren’t reflective of its modern capabilities.
I’d rate this 5 stars, but doorbell notification doesn’t work on iPad unless it is connected via the cloud - it doesn’t work when connected via WiFi locally. If I connect to both cloud and local connectivity, and tell reception to only use the local connection (to avoid cloud costs), when someone rings the doorbell, it automatically switches her to cloud connectivity, so if she continues monitoring video, she is using bandwidth over the cloud. I think this is a terrible and sneaky way of making money, Axis! Forcing users to use the cloud to get doorbell rings??
Update to my previous review. Was having issues with the app crashing & would have to re add the camera system every time. But with the last app update, the wonderful techs fixed that issue. Thank you ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I can count on 1 hand the amount of times this app has worked properly. There are always multiple views down. We are a place of worship that needs to be monitored in order to stay accessible to the community. This app has yet to provide a consistent and reliable experience resulting not only in frustration but also the compromised safety and security of the congregation who paid to have this system installed.
Seems like great updates however our apps don’t connect to our servers anymore. So now I have no remote ability to view at all. My family all got the update and none of us can connect. I updated my server as well but I always get “Sorry, our connection was lost. Please try again”
We need to restart services to be able to see playback and it only lasts for a short period of time. This remote app is horrible. If you want to use this system, I am having to VPN in for local access. Note to Access, you’re app developers need help… If I could, you would get -Star review!
This app used to be able to display past videos in bottom timeline. Ever since a couple updates ago it is now hit and miss. Sometime shows up sometimes does not. Does not have this issue on PC.
I Love the app, I would love to see Axis “Secure entry” features integrated whether it be a completely separate app or if possible all in one without breaking the existing app.
“Sorry, the connection was lost. Please try again.” All other devices work just fine, except iPad mini. Can add server via remote add, but not locally. Not even via manually add. Tried everything.
I used to be able to view the fisheye cameras by zooming in with my fingers and manipulating the views. Now it doesn’t work. It only zooms in and out in fisheye view which is worthless.
These cameras are terrible, the company is constantly having updates and it just keeps getting worse. Cannot view any of the cameras…what a waste of $$$$$ and don’t forget about our time.
The app worked fine until after I updated to 1.9.1. Now, when opening certain cameras to view, the application shuts down. This is consistent across multiple users. Not usable in its current state.
On Apple devices, viewing the motion history is awful. Skips entire days of data at times. Totally unacceptable performance. Pathetic. Yes, I have the latest version installed!
I really like the easy setup, linear playback controls, and the clean interface. My only issue is I cannot control PTZ cameras or Camera I/O. Seems like a big over sight for such an innovative manufacturer. Hope to see it added in the future! Also a method to export video would be great.
This app has been a long time coming. Thanks for making the effort. I do need one change. I need to be able manually enter a server name. When I add a server with the internal ip it grabs the computer name of the server. Then I add the external public ip and it comes up with the same name. Very confusing for customers.
I just updated the the most recent version, now it will not connect to server. I get prompted, “Something went wrong. A commutation error occurred.” Update: They just released 1.12.13 and it resolved the issue above. I’ll give it a 3 because it still slow when playing back recorded videos and no speed control during playback.
Still only supports H.264. After all the years axis has had MJPEG, MPEG and pre-H.264 cameras and the many years this app has been available, STILL the app does not support this large number of legacy AXIS cameras. Who even thinks about this app? Nobody? An intern could have programmed codec support into an app like this in a day.. but.. years later nothing. Shameful. Please add support for this. (Might as well delete this app in the meantime.. waste of space)
Cameras are showing constant motion alerts in app. All is normal when reviewed on Camera Station. Other than that, love Axis cameras and really love Camera Station and companion. Best surveillance UI I’ve used
