Bad weather app for those who travel. If you switch cities, it says the new city at the top of the page, but still only shows the current conditions, and 10 day forecast, for Madison. Also doesn’t refresh the radar well if you use the radar, then want a refresh an hour later.
I got an emergency alert on my phone from NWS Milwaukee Sullivan of a tornado warning in my area and they told me to check local media. I opened your app and found NOTHING during the entire 45 minute period of the warning. I tried to access the video that normally broadcasts local coverage of the storm and I saw a 404 error message. I was getting repeated alerts from other parts of the state through your app, but when it came to my local area? Zero. Yeah, you guys really dropped the ball on this one. I used the 45 minute window of this warning to test other apps and found that another local network affiliate did much better. So I’m uninstalling y’all.
This app just frustrates me these days. After watching thirty seconds of ads, you’re treated to a teeny tiny snippet of weather coverage—like “It’s going to snow today”. Then, you have to watch another thirty seconds of ads to get an equally unhelpful snippet that would only be informative if strung together with about six of the reports. Now they have these worthless, soundless computer animations that are too small and pass by too quickly for me to read and consume. Please, just please—advertisement, semi-thorough report, synopsis. I’d super appreciate it
Periodically, this app opens with a loud video making it inappropriate in many settings. The urgent weather updates are in video format with no option to read text, which is annoying and time consuming. And the main screens have a busy grey background that makes it difficult to read the print. Though I want to like this app with local weather, it honestly is not very good. I’m going back to my previous weather app.
As mentioned before, the biggest issue is when I’m using the current radar loop, it looses it and gives you a ‘???’ For the end time. Annoying. I use this feature the most. But not for long. Gonna find another app that works.
Recently I have been getting notices of “a weather alert near my location”. They are no where near my location! The weather alert I get 5 out of 10 times, is on the complete opposite of the state from me!
The radar seems touchy and flashes in past and future mode! Also not very accurate as to where the rain actually is, I have heard heavy rain near your location and it’s not even near my location
Talk about lack of interest. They still haven’t make this so it works in landscape mode on my iPad. And I don’t mind some ads, but this thing is loaded. The only reason I use it is because it’s pretty accurate for local weather.
Every other time I try to open it since the “performance improvement” upgrade a week ago, it is frozen on the opening screen and has to be uninstalled and reinstalled. Very annoying. We like it, but only if it works.
Love the notifications. It’s great seeing local weather in plain speak. However, the app is full of ads. You have to watch a 15 second ad for news 3 in order to see the forecast. So, download for the notifications but don’t bother opening the app.
Awful. I’m deleting it after this review and trying Weather Underground. This Tuesday it showed sun all day. So I leave my car windows down and at 9am it rains. I look at my app and it says currently sunny and still sunny at 9 am. Fire the person in charge of this worthless app. I’m rarely so disappointed.
Too many ads, some are right in the middle of the screen. Obnoxious. This turned me off after 30 seconds, and I didn't bother to look deeper for features. I would not mind ads for the TV station to get me to watch their broadcast. But the ads are for cars and stuff I'm not interested in.
No realtime radar information as to tornado directions. That is only on tv 3 channel. When one is in a basement without tv accessibility, use My Radar App. Get a weather radio it much safer. Not helpful AT ALL in severe weather conditions.
Used to be okay...I don’t know what changed, but now after I sit through the endless loading ad, I get a black screen that says “this app isn’t available in your location” even though I’m in the viewing area.
This ap is much more reliable than its predecessor . The forecasts are updated more quickly, and seem to be more accurate. It loads more quickly and has fewer annoying network errors. When I check the temp and hourly later it remembers to update its data instead of being stuck at the same hour I last checked like the last ap. channel 3000 is the most accurate weather ap for mad area in my experience.
This version uses "cards" to show you the location information (radar, hourly and daily forecast) that used to be on one simple page before. You must scroll through the cards to get to the one you are interested in, and then it only shows a 1-2 hour or day preview. Basically, the user interface is now much more complicated and much more work to get the same info that was on one nice page before. Furthermore, the old app has been suspended so you can't use it and they force download of the new one. This used to be my favorite weather app due to simplicity and accuracy. I am now deleting both. Would NOT recommend.
The best part of this app was easy navigation and a well-written weather summary. Now, they made navigation difficult and removed the summary along with several other great features. Weather info is now average at best. Worst part is that they placed ads above the top navigation bar. Almost impossible if you have semi-thick fingers not to hit an ad.
The fonts in this version are VERY small and the contrast is almost nonexistent, making it very difficult to read. It's also annoying that you have to scroll through the 'cards', and you can't change the order to get your favorites closer together. Very disappointed! Weather Channel or Accuweather are my go-tos now
Does not change screen orientation. No landscape mode. Why did you implement the same bad UI design and issues as Channel 27's weather app? I switched to using your app instead of theirs when they changed the format of their app. Now you've copied the same poor design. I guess I need to abandon the use of this app now as well.
Any slide with the finger near one of their on screen advertisers will launch the advertisers web site. I swear sometime they launch by looking at them. Park Bank is nasty to get out of, some have a time to wait before closing.
Love this app and how it is centered around Madison, WI. It's a must have for all in the Madison area. Took 1 star off because it still hasn't been optimized for iOS 10.
1 star because we canning leave 0 or negative stars. Rule #1 of any UX be it mobile or otherwise is the NEVER play sound or video without the user's permission! Now while your app does ask if it can send user notifications that is done under auspices of alerts when there is severe weather in the area. At no point would I EVER agree to receive verbal alerts reminding me to use your POS app to check on my Memorial Day weather! Especially when I am trying to put a baby down for a nap you in considerate a-holes!!! You have ruined and destroyed the trust I had for Channel3000. The fact that you went for a cookie cutter, wannabe weather channel looking app made by the lowest bidder is beyond evident by how "craptacular" this weather app is. For example: Why does it take so long to load the animated weather on the map? Why are you not auto generating a gif that is auto uploaded to S3 and servers out via cloud front (or cdn of choice ) like everyone else? Why, when I get an alert about severe weather when I tap it I am brought to a loud obnoxious video clip?! A video clip that desperately needs the wadsworth constant applied to it. A video that takes it dear sweet time getting to the vital information one would need during a severe weather event. The same information that would be better served as written word vs. yet another advertisement avenue such as the ad you force users to see when they first launch the app (again putting more time between impending death and the vital information one needs to avoid it). It's bad decisions like the above and a myriad of other little things that show you don't care about your users and I highly recommend not to install this app, or if you already have to delete it.
