The app is total JUNK!!!!
I’ve had the garage door opener for 3 months now and I’ve only been able to use it twice where it has worked like it should. For those two times I was able to open the door with the app and close the door with the app. And only one time was I away from home when I did it. So here is what I’ve been having issues with. Right now it shows the door closed. I pressed the open button and it actually opened. But when I went to tell it to close it didn’t. I had to go hit the button. Before opening the door I was able to turn on and off the air compressor using the app. But after opening the door the app would not turn the air compressor on or off anymore. And now it won’t even open the door using the app. I have good WiFi in the garage. I have a wired access point in there. So good signal. Can’t blame it on that. The relay hub is within 15’ of the door. Can’t blame distance. On top of the app issues... I also tried the camera add-on and even tried two different ones and couldn’t get those to work either. I ended up putting a $20 Wyze Cam on there in place of the $85 ryobi camera. Overall there isn’t anything overly spectacular about the opener. I wanted it for the app and battery backup. There are others out there. I would suggest looking at those.

Great when it works
Set up is a little confusing but once it was set up it seemed to work great for a year, then I got an Apple Watch and now everytime I try to use the open close feature on the watch it logs my account out on the phone which I then have to get out and log back in which defeats the purpose of the watch app all together, so fine I just won’t use the watch app but now I can’t even keep the door connected to WiFi, nothing has changed but now it just randomly disconnects from internet and I have to go though the entire setup again I’ve all but given up on upswing the notifications and WiFi with this door, instead I got an extra ring contact sensor to tell me if the door is closed and a Wyze cam in the garage to double check. This part is more a review on the opener itself rather than the app but anyone who has kids knows Ryobi needs to change the “lock” button on the indoor keypad. This should not be a one press and lock out all your openers. It should be an app only or very least a passcode required to lock and unlock. Way too many times I come home from work or go to leave in the morning and can no longer open my door with the car opener or the app so what is the point 🤷🏻‍♂️

Horrible app
The first problem is that I have to log in constantly. Keep me signed in rather than making me constantly enter my user id and password. There isn’t even an option to save the password or use touch id. when I finally get logged in it takes forever to load the GDO, and sometimes just gets stuck and clocks. This happens every time I get kicked out and have to log back in which is incredibly annoying. Also, it never completes the WiFi setup. It looks like it does because the green blinking WiFi light turns solid but I keep getting kicked out of the process and have to start over. This app is useless since it won’t complete the WiFi setup so I can’t use this for anything. When I try to troubleshoot or look at the FAQs all this app shows me is the same stupid video. When I click on a menu option take me directly to that option, don’t make me try to find what it want. I’m already annoyed and need help which is why I’m going into those sections but all I get is some stupid video about how great Ryobi thinks this garage opener is! What a waste! If you put technology out there to use then at least make it work!

IPhone app good, Watch app not so much
If all you want is to use your iPhone to open your garage door this works fairly well. I am happy that they offer an AppleWatch app, but it rarely works. I also continue to experience the log outs. Not sure if that is because of the AppleWatch app or not, but it is in no way fixed. When it does work from the watch it is great. The iPhone (when it logs in) is reliable on reporting the correct status and opening and closing the door. I have found I can not trust the AppleWatch to be correct. If they can just get the log in problem solved and the AppleWatch app to work a bit better I would be a 4 or 5. The only other miss, which is not really this app’s problem, is the lack of HomeKit integration. Being able to use Siri to turn my lights off and on is amazing. Being able to use Siri to open the garage door would be off the charts. Also, if they offered HomeKit, I think that would also fix the multiple user problem. If you are reading this because you are in the market for a garage door opener, the basic iPhone app does work. The garage door itself is wonderful and I love the ability to add add on accessories to it.

Changed my life after 1.22.2
When I first purchased the garage door, I was excited, had all the bells and whistles, looked great. Installed the app, had issues getting it to connect. Only works on 2.4Ghz and I had 2.4 turned off. Then it worked fantastic for about a month. It helps with my mild OCD and not having to turn around again and again. Then it stopped, had to re-do, worked for awhile, then re-do, repeat. I had about given up. Still happy with the opener, but annoyed by the frequent dropping from WiFi, poor alert capabilities, and drop of iPad version. This all changed after 1.22.2. I gave it another go. It’s been fantastic and reliable. Even lost power to the house a few times for 4+ hours and reconnected to WiFi without intervention. Alerts are now consistent on my phone for open, close, after hours, and the iPhone version works on the iPad. Between the app, all the accessories on the garage door opener that I can control remotely, and the opener itself, it’s absolutely wonderful.

Not so smart garage door opener....
I was excited at first to purchase a WiFi capable opener that had so many options and accessories. I’ve had the opener for almost a year now and have had countless issues with the app and it’s functionality. The app constantly freezes and before I can blink my eyes, it errors out and I have to log in again. It’s frustrating at the least especially when I’m trying to leave in a hurry. Today’s most recent experience is that of utter frustration. I backed out, clicked the opener button and nothing. I TRIED to log into the app to close the garage door but alas....error....logged out. Now I can’t log back into the app. I had to physically leave my vehicle, press the button on wall to close the door and guess what....nothing.... ^#&$@!!!! After stomping, yelling, standing on one foot and grasping my left ear lobe I finally managed to get the door to close. However, I’m still unable to log into the app. Basically I have a fancy opener that utilizes only half of is advertised extra functionality. Awesome.....

Don’t bother with this app or opener
Not sure why I changed from chamberlain openers. The app is unstable, the opener is unreliable. Ok, I wanted the fan and extension cord real. That put this garage door opener system at a really expensive price but it would have been perfect since I wanted to dry my boat and put it on charger. In theory, I was a genius getting this system. The cord real is the only thing that is decent on this whole setup. The fan rattles a lot and sounds like it can die at any point in time. The opener is the worst I have ever owned. Currently the app shows the status but I can’t open or close door with app. The remote still works and app shows open and close status. I can’t control fan or light. I have to unplug the garage door often to reset it and get things working. You can’t use a universal remote, you must buy the ryobi brand. This means your built in car remotes don’t work. I have purchased the opener $189, 9 foot door kit $50, extra remote $40, fan $60, extension cord $60. I’m throwing it all in trash, I wouldn’t even sell it. Ryobi should be ashamed of this product and app. I have 2 other brands on my other 2 garage doors and they are rock solid and no issues after 5-6 years. I have never once unplugged to reset and still going strong. FYI, 5 stars for quietness. I’ll give it that much. 0 stars for app, hardware.

Works as advertised
I have had almost every garage door opener manufactured to date. I recently had a martin garage door go out on my three bay garage. I decided to try the this Ryobi because extras that can be added along with a easy battery backup. It installed in less than two hours with the addition of a extension for my 10’ door. I have a iPhone 8 and the app has worked great. I live in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and I have opened and closed the door from the backside of my property approximately 1 mile away. There is a delay though I have not had it delay more than 20 seconds. It is easy to know if the garage door is opened or closed because it states it on the home screen of he app. Great product and will be changing the other two out as required to the Ryobi

Great when it works.
This app is great when it works. I bought this garage door opener solely for the app so when I come home on my motorcycle, I can open it by the app and drive right in or if someone needs to get in my house when I’m not home. It seems like every time IOS is updated, the app stops working. The past few days, I tried to open it using the app. It wouldn’t respond so I would open it with the keypad and close the door. I also closed out the app on my phone and about 5 minutes later, the door opened. That has happened to me 3 times now. I caught it the first 2 times. The last time (yesterday), I didn’t catch it and had a nice police officer knocking on my door at 1:30 in the morning to let me know with everything going on right now. I’m hoping this review will be read by someone that matters and the app will be updated soon.

Constantly Breaking
When I first got the garage door the app worked great. I can open the door and close the door. It would also read its status as it should. Then an update came out and broke that. It would still read the status of the door but trying to open and close it from the app would result in disappointment. You would then have to walk to the garage and open it yourself. Another update came out. It resolve the issue and the door would open and close as it should. I started praising the garage door again. Now, once again, Ryobi released another update and the app is broken. It can readThe garage doors status and the status of the battery that is inserted into the garage door. It could not do the basic task which is designed to do, opening and closing a garage door... hopefully they push out another update and resolve the issue again. Then hopefully I won’t make the mistake and update the app ever again.

Terrible, like the door itself
I have countless smart devices(Echo, Wemo, Harmony hub, etc) and have never had trouble setting one up. This GDO and app are terrible. I make it all the way through WiFi setup until it connects to my home WiFi.. it connects and then starts downloading a Firmware update. It never finishes apparently, no error or anything given. It just goes back to the WiFi setup start page as if I never started. I have tried resetting GDO, erasing app, all to no avail. Foolish to think a power tool manufacturer could program I suppose. UPDATE 5/29: I still regret purchasing this door opener. I can no longer even login to the app after the update. I try to do Forgot Password and it gives error “Unauthorized”. How can I not be authorized to reset my pw? I waited on hold for 30minutes before being disconnected with Ryobi support. This is ridiculous and disappointing because my many other Ryobi tools are solid.

Poorly supported
I really want to like this system, but it just isn’t supported well at all. About 3 months ago the notification badge stuck on, and nothing will clear it, even a complete app reinstall. No one answers the help emails I’ve sent. Sometimes the app will actually control the door. But the status indicators are often incorrect, and the notification system isn’t robust. The battery backup doesn’t always work. It’s supposed to keep the battery topped up, but a few times I’ve found the battery pack dead. The pack is fine, it charges fine in another charger. Today the wall keypad decided to stop working. Wiring was fine, sensors were fine. I ended up having to kill power to the opener and reprogram the travel limits before the keypad would work again. There was a lot of promise with this system, but that promise was mostly undelivered. As a “smart home” gadget the GDO is mostly a failure. To this day I have no idea if the WiFi implementation receives security updates, which almost certainly means it doesn’t. And even the hardware itself seems buggy. In summary, Ryobi had a good idea on its hands, but they should have put a lot more thought into the tech. I’d look elsewhere.

One star is too many
This is easily the worst app I’ve got on my iPhone X. It doesn’t work with Touch ID or Face ID. It fails and logs me out constantly. It often hangs trying to connect to my openers. I’ve got 5. Sometimes it just fails to open or close a door, but may randomly choose to do as asked several minutes later. If it doesn’t act at once you have no idea if it will do so later Setup is infuriating. You may think you have done it but at the end of the process it usually tells you there has been an 1101 error. No idea what that means. Of course the app then restarts and you have to log in again without Face ID. It probably didn’t work but sometimes it does. You just have to keep trying. It’s not the Wi-Fi system. I’ve got a Wi-Fi hub in my garage. It’s not the password because I don’t have one. I’d like to know if my doors are open or closed but that requires installing a relay hub. I’ve never succeeded. One came with each door so I’ve tried several. None worked. No documentation will tell you this but you are supposed to add it like another opener. Even when I thought I had succeeded I have no way to know. Use the app menu and select garage door hub and it just sends me back to the main screen If use of this app is important to you, return the Ryobi opener before you install it.

The app is junk and the support is worse
The garage door is great this app is just awful and the support for it is far worse. I get that Ryobi got slapped on the wrist patent infringement with this garage door opener and app but if you are going to keep it for your customers at least make it worth having. Their updates say they will resolve the issues but it never does and they try to claim only a few users are impacted by the bug which highly doubt I believe everyone is impacted. Also don’t bother to send any emails to the support team those are basically never answered. Just a worthless application to have unless you are looking for something that is constantly messed up and does stuff like indicate a notification for you but their is nothing for you to clear to get rid of the notification reminder.

Poor performance
Using the app, sometimes my garage door opens right away. Other times it takes 10-20 seconds. Other other times it doesn’t open for 10+ minutes, by which time I’ve already opened the door some other way and driven away, only to find out later that the door opened when I was miles away from home. There should be some time window where if the door hasn’t opened from the app command it just drops that command. Other improvements would be making a functional watch app that actually opens or closes the door. It’s never worked on my watch. Also, with iOS 12 and the new Shortcuts app this is a chance for Roybi to make a pseudo-HomeKit simple open/close function that I can call from Siri or the widget screen. I’m sure that’ll never happen though, it seems like this app is all but abandoned.

“Awful” would be the right word...
To describe this application. It crashes on a regular basis. When it does open its like playing roulette if the controls will function at all. On a day when the controls do work one has to tap on door up or door down for up to 15 seconds to see any action, if you don't tap you never know if the up or down command is going to happen, it could just get ignored. The support is friendly but not effective, they replaced everything at one point and all the same problems still exist. This is because the problem is with the software and APi, not the GDO. For some reason Ryobi has decided to mail their efforts in concerning this app and the GDO APi and cloud pieces. This app deserves the worst grade possible, an F. I don’t like writing harsh reviews and I try to be positive whenever possible but I really have had a bad experience with this product.

Ruining GDO Systems App
The app is absolutely worthless. I have installed it several times on both an iPhone 6 and a Samsung Galaxy 7 phone and the app does not work on either platform. I get no Alerts that the door has been opened or closed and the graphic interface does not show any activity whatsoever. In addition the Apps activity log shows nothing. The app is totally worthless and I do not trust that it won’t open my garage door when I’m not around or allow someone else to do so remotely. I have had to remove my garage door opener from my wireless network. I tried using Ryobi Tools automated ticketing system for help and have called the support # several times and have gotten nowhere. Not even a call back nor an email. I do not recommend you buy the Ryobi garage door opener or at least do not use the app unless you’re willing to risk the security of your home to worthless app

CRASH!!!!!!
So first the app wouldn’t sync with the GDO. So I stopped trying after a few weeks. This was a few months ago. Decided recently on a whim to try again. It worked!!! Great!!! Closed the app, tried again. No issues other than I have to keep logging in every time I open the app. Found there was an option to correct this. Turned on auto login then CRASH!!! Now I can’t open the app at all. Tried it on my wife’s iPhone. Same. The little bit of features I was able to find didn’t seem worth it nor did the open door notifications work. Is there a feature to lock the door when I go away? I was looking for it. Maybe when you fix this crash issue you can work on that as well. Waiting for the next update, which I hope is soon because I can’t use the app right now. As soon as I open it, it crashes.

Decent App
This app does have some bugs but ryobi seems to always try to deal with them in a timely manner. As far as not being able to consistently open and close the garage with the app, I am pretty confident that is due to wifi issues. I got the Orbi wifi extender and have since had not one issue opening and closing my garage remotely from basically any location. I was even vacationing in Hawaii and opened it for my father with no issue. It is very responsive now. Whether I’m on wifi or using phones LTE, I can open and close the garage every time. Overall 4 stars because I think people’s issues are not really with the app.

App needs a lot of work.
This is my second Ryobi Garage door. My first opener worked flawless each time I wanted to open it from the app, be it at home or in another state if I needed it to. Ever since they switched to the wireless "hub" system, app has been total junk. Prior to the "wireless hub" it was hardwired and all internal. It's a crapshoot if you will get the app to work when you need it to. The App or garage door is constantly disconnecting either from my home wifi, or I suspect from the Ryobi server side. It will work one minute for a few hours and then nothing. Sometimes it won't work for hours and then it finally works. Each app update has not fixed the issue. If you are looking to by this garage door opener for the convenience of controlling it from your phone, look elsewhere.

Worse Garage door opener ever
Home Depot should be ashamed selling such horrible equipment. The wireless keypad only works 50% of the time. I have called support on this issue over 20 times. I am being told they had to stop selling hardwire keypads because they stole that technology from Chamberlin and were sued. The latest is the camera stopped working and has not worked in over a month. They sent me a sd card to update the system and firmware. I preformed it. Still can not connect to server. I call them only to be told that the phone app needs a update. You would have thought they would have tested this before they told customers to perform a update. The latest update is on 1/29 the update will be available in the APP store as of now 9:10 it’s not available. I just wish Home Depot would give me my money back so I could by a Chamberlin unit.

False advertising
All of the cool videos and hype about this garage door opener and how you can use the app to control and monitor your garage activity... false! If you’re ok with a great GDO and horrible app then here it is. I hope RYOBI app developers get their act together and produce a solid app that lives up to the ryobi name and compliments their product line. FIX THIS APP!- from a market standpoint preferably before Black Friday and Christmas. Actually read the customer reviews and take action! Pros: The GDO itself is awesome! Installation was fairly easy and product seems very durable. I would say that productwise this GDO (not the app) is the best and most innovative in the market. Despite a horrible app it would still be worth the buy. Cons: The app simply does not work. Point blank! - does not maintain your login credentials - does not track and maintain garage door activity (as advertised in videos) - does not give accurate position of door (I.e. tells you that door is down when it is up) - very slow to load or doesn’t load at all - multiple error messages - no technical support available for this app (only the product itself) - bug fixes and updates seem do not resolve core functionality concerns (actual fixes vs. Pseudo fixes)

Strangely…the app sort of now works after being dead for a few years
I love Ryobi tools. I bought into the garage door openers early on in my conversion to wireless tools. And the promise at the time of using my iPhone as a controller and monitor was the big selling point. Fast forward 6-7 years and I have to say it’s been a huge disappointment. The door openers are slow and occasionally just go bonkers. And the App is absolute garbage. Oddly, I accidentally opened the app after not even trying to use it for the last 3-4 years and now it sort of works. Can open and close the doors. But can’t get notifications. It’s on my list of to-do’s to switch these out for Chamberlain’s which now do all the same things but actually are much higher build quality with a simple trouble-free app.

Hunk of junk
I’ll log in, turn in the Bluetooth while I do my thing. Later when I’m ready to shut everything off I’ll reopen the app. It hangs while trying to connect. I have to swipe to close the app and reopen it. It’ll automatically log you out. I go to log in, enter my email and password. If the password is wrong an error screen will pop up but there’s no way to close the keyboard so you have to hit return on the keyboard to get the same message pop up. The keyboard will go away then. Now when you go to retrieve your password there’s no way to do it. You enter your email address but in order to hit the “forgot password” option you can’t. Wanna know why? Because it’s so darn low and, you guessed it, no way to lower the keyboard. Hunk of junk. This has been ongoing. Should have bought a competitor’s product.

LOCKED OUT
Let me start by saying I really like Ryobi cordless tools. I own several and am about to add a water pump as well. Also, I really like the actual openers (powerful and quiet). The app, on the other hand is maddening. Often I get home and find it won’t open the doors and recently I’ve found if I turn my phone off and on, it MIGHT work. But that’s a hassle and takes time. Often I find I’ll need to put in my email address and password in to gain access. Again that’s time consuming and annoying. Now, I’m completely locked out. It’s requiring me to log in but my password no longer works. And whenever I attempt to log in I get an ‘ERROR’ page that has no way out. I have to restart my phone to get back into the app. I haven’t found a password reset button. Please fix this app!!!

Worked Fine Until The Last Update...
Worked like a "champ" until 8/27...but after the last update it has been a bust. Totally unreliable and useless. Too bad...I was really impressed and recommended this system to neighbors...now I have to go find them and correct myself. I guess it's back to some other brand again... UPDATE.... So after contacting tech support, they finally got it working again. I'm glad to see it! It's a great idea, and when it works, the execution is unsurpassed. I'd have given it 5 stars if it worked flawlessly all the time, but I am appreciative that they did contact me and made it work again...thank you!

Useless
Knowing if my garage door was opened or closed while I was away from home is one of the primary reasons I chose this opener. To do that you need the app to work, and the app has not functioned once for me. It’s a convoluted system that uses a sensor on the door, a hub, WiFi on the opener itself, and the app. The app has not completed pairing of the sensor after multiple tries over two days. It gets hung up on a screen that says “loading sensors,” and indicates a problem with the server. On top of all that, the only way to try again is to go through the ENTIRE setup for the opener (doesn’t let you just try to pair the sensor again). Very frustrating, as this is literally a safety issue. Horrible reviews all over the web for this. Should have read them before I bought. RYOBI NEEDS TO FIX THIS!

Terrible terrible terrible
The app is a convenient feature of course, however, don’t ever leave home without the opener, or you won’t be able to get back in your garage until you have the opener. I have deleted and re-downloaded numerous times because, the app constantly kicks you out and signs you out, then won’t let you sign back in. You have to reset every single part of the device with the exception of the remote. It will work for about 5 days, then does it all over again. Do not waste the extra money on this opener. It does nothing spectacular that a regular opener won’t do. As for the app, major waste of time and effort, only to cause you more frustration. At this point, I’d rather rip the crap off the ceiling and open and close the door by hand.

App is on disability
What’s up with this system? I bought Ryobi GDO a few years ago and have consistently had issues where it loses connectivity with the app. I have had to add the individual door openers back multiple times, they’ll work for a few weeks or months and then drop off again. The pairing process is also quite cumbersome as it frequently errors or times out during the pairing process. Whatever the recent update was I can’t even get it to connect to my WiFi anymore. As soon as I type in my WiFi password the WiFi indicator on the GDO stops flashing and then it fails to pair. I was annoyed when this thing couldn’t pair with the HomeLinks in any of my cars, but this is even worse. I’m giving 1 star only because I can’t give less!

Lots of hardware and software issues
Software leaves a lot to be desired in terms of ease of use, reliability etc. seems unfinished and unsupported. The connection often seems up yet the door doesn’t go up or down, again without any indication that would be the case. The door sensor is particularly terrible. Although I have it as close as possible it no longer seems to detect the door going up, ever. Which is weird because I think it is in communication- the door wouldn’t actually go up without that. I have replaced the undersized aaa battery and re-linked them just to be sure. Nope! If you want a smart garage door opener look elsewhere. This one is lacking in the engineering and quality department. As a dumb opener it is not bad although at times the down limits are fussy.

Less than useless
Some time in the past couple weeks, the app had changed. I could live with it sometimes failing to send a command or giving an incorrect status of the door once in a while. Annoying to be sure, but I can live with that if I know they’re actively trying to fix the app. But now, the app forgets my password, which to be honest is a low priority password for me so I can’t remember it. No problem, just reset it, right? WRONG! The app provides no way to reset the password, and I can’t set up a new account as it allows only one per email address. So, until this situation is corrected, my advice and recommendation is to NOT purchase a Ryobi Gardner door opener. It’s more expensive than the competitors and this “Feature” is useless.

1.23.4 Still So Frustrating
Prior to version 1.23, the delay between tapping manual open or close in the app and the door actually moving was up to a minute long and sometimes required up to four taps spaced about 15 seconds apart. But it opened or closed the door 97% of the time. As of 1.23.4, the door now opens or closes instantaneously when tapping the open or close button, but only immediately after opening the app and while it is in the foreground. If I go to another app, then come back to the Ryobi GDO app and tap the open or close button, nothing happens. I have to manually kill the app any time it leaves the foreground and reopen it to get it to function again. So I’m glad there’s immediate response now, but definitely not at the expense of having to kill and reopen the app every single time I use another app. Another thing that is now broken where it worked before is the real time door position text in the app. Now the text cycles between (door name) opening, closing, open or closed when the door is in motion. Didn’t do that prior to 1.23.

Terrible
Save yourself some frustration and do not buy this product. App randomly stops working and will not reset to connect with GDO. Invitation from the app to allow others to join the use of the product does not work. Even something as simple as “Clear Log” for clearing out the open/close history of the app does not work. When the app does work there is a significant delay, which is not warned about in the manuals. The sensors are so sensitive that the door cannot be shut in midday. This product does not come with an exterior keypad, as does every other GDO on the market, so when the app stops working you have to use an alternative entry into the garage to use the interior keypad. Product manual not accessible on app. I truly cannot warn you off enough.

I’m a Ryobi fanboy.. but this product is horrible
I’m a Ryobi fanboy and I love the tools.. but this GDO (and vacuum - but that’s another review for another day) is complete garbage. It works sometimes but then when it stops working you have to delete the garage from the app and reinstall it. It may work for maybe a week or two before you have to do the process all over again. THIS IS REALLY ANNOYING. I’ve had this for two years hoping that one day it will be fixed but it doesn’t look like Ryobi even cares about this product. Wonder if they even made this trash. Can’t wait to buy a cheaper and more reliable smart garage door opener. Ryobi, I hope you even read some of these reviews because they’re everywhere online not just in Apple App Store.

Total garbage
I rarely write reviews but I must take exception to that so no other people buy this piece of junk. Let me preface this with the fact that I’m in technology and mechanical so I know what I’m doing. From the day it was put in, the door wouldn’t respond to the remotes unless you’re two feet from the door, the app hasn’t been stable since the beginning either. Tech support sent me a longer piece of wire to install on the circuit board which added a foot to the remote operational distance. To add insult now, the app now won’t add a door now that I upgraded my WiFi. It stays hung up on the ‘plus sign’ to add a new door. I’ve had this opener for over three years now and I’m putting my old sears back in this weekend. At least that one worked from 40 foot away. Oh and forget about the air hose attachment. It takes almost a half hour to pump up a tire from 8lbs to 40. Get your act together ryobi and developers of this app. This single product combo has made my mind up to never buy another ryobi product, and advise friends and coworkers to avoid. Even if I had another free one, I wouldn’t want it.

App...What’s the point??
What’s the point in having an app for your garage door opener when it NEVER works?!?! Not only does it not work it Continues to tell me my password is incorrect yet I am “not authorized” to reset it...WHAT!?!? Makes no sense at all! It’s as pointless as the remotes for the system turned out to be. After resetting those several times I finally just stopped trying and started using my front door again rather than going through my garage. Somewhat of a pain to have to go in, open the garage door and then pull my car inside but hey people did it that way for a long time. Just goes to show you that sometimes advances in technology are worthless. It’s a shame this one turned out to be one of the worthless ones.

Horrible! Absolutely garbage app!
UPDATE: App is still garbage. I just saw an update thinking they would fix the known issues. Still have to put in your login information everytime you open the app. If you close the app and open it back up all you see is a Loading GDO screen. You have to force quit the app to then put in your login information. Such a worthless app! This application is absolutely terrible. You constantly have to sign in even with all the settings being selected to store your information and to log in automatically. The status of the garage door doesn’t work. It will say the garage is closed even though it’s open. I’m thinking I should have just gotten a Lift Master. I know their app actually works!

Garage door and App
I’ve had this system for quite a number of years no issues with the operator or the app until today, with that being said I give it five stars based on the fact that I have not had one single issue until today. Currently the app is reporting one bar on the back up battery I’ve tested two batteries both are fully charge but yet it still shows one bar for each battery I’m OK with that.

Horrible App
I have no idea what happened, but this app is garbage. I’ve had my GDO a few years. App wasn’t perfect, but it functioned exactly as it was supposed to. Never had an issue in the years I’ve owned the GDO. All of a sudden, there’s some urgent firmware update in January/February 2020 that HAS TO BE UPDATED otherwise the app will cease to function. I’m still not sure what the problem was. Anyway, I do the update and, of course, the GDO app combined with the new firmware is absolutely horrible. I’m pretty sure the app has now crashed. I can’t even use it at the moment. So, for about 3 years the entire system worked perfectly for me, and now, due to some required update I’m not even sure why I needed, the app is complete garbage... way to go Ryobi.

When it works super!!!
I love Ryobi products most of my tools are ryobi so it made sense for me to get the garage door plus it’s quiet as hell opening and closing with my 300lbs plus wooden door!! When the app works it’s so nice I could open my garage for my family with I have 100+ miles away but lately this app has been so unreliable! Some times it loads but won’t activate when I tell it to open or close. Other times I open it up and it just gets stuck at the loading Gdo’s screen and won’t let you do anything else and it just keeps loading until you close the app. There doesn’t seem like there is much support for this app either. So just be warned!!!!

Works well, please add override lock feature
This works swimmingly, but please add a feature to a new version that allows the user to override the lock feature on the keypad located inside the garage. Due to the design of that keypad, an unsuspecting user or child can inadvertently lock the garage from use of the remote controls (as designed, no issues there) but also from the app. Because the app has security built in already it should also allow the ability to override the lock feature. I encourage others to try this as well. Thanks.

The app opened once - doesn’t work at all now.
Once, literally opened once and now it crashes every single time I open it. I have tried hard rebooting my phone etc. and it always crashes. The garage door opener works fine and is pretty cool, but extremely disappointing the app is useless. I’m surprised there isn’t a class action lawsuit, I’ve seen quite a few people with identical issues. This means none of the app features function on the unit, this drastically reduces the usability of the unit. Knowing what I know now, I will probably never trust a ryobi app controlled device again and instead choose a competitor. Maybe even switch out my future drills, yard equipment etc for another vendor considering the lack of support.

No worky No mo!
I have had for 3 years now your Ryobi GDO system and loved it until recently. I always used the GDO app to open and close my Ryobi opener for myself or guest when not I’m not home. Now it doesn’t work thru the app?It has been synced with WiFi and will show status(open/closed)when I open and close with keypad or w car openers but can’t control light or opener with app. Just has the spinning icon twirling, but nothing happens? Really used this feature a lot. Feel like it’s an app issue not a problem with my Wifi or device since everything else works and function properly. Any help? Thanks!

GDO is great, but app is the worst
The GDO is great. I’ve got two installed and have never had problems. They’re quiet and other than one remote keypad (outside one) going bad; it’s been great. The app however, is complete crap. Too many areas to configure notifications, which almost never work correctly. Sometimes I’ll get notifications and sometimes my wife will. There is no consistency. Support for the app is lacking...I’ve sent several messages to the support team and they’ve never been answered. I’ve called the support team and the reply is always, “were about to drop an update”....yeah, no. You’ll love the openers but hate the entire system because the app is so bad.

Update killed the app
The app was at least allowing me to open/close my garage door (even though nothing else worked) but after the latest update even that isn’t working. Tried removing and re-adding, went through the setup multiple times, but it gets stuck on “Pairing door sensor with GDO.” They don’t appear to even care about these poor reviews as nothing appears to be happening to fix all the issues people are reporting. Really sad. Edit: So the latest update finally allowed me to add my GDO back, but during the setup, it wouldn’t detect my sensor. I killed the app then re-opened it and it worked. Shouldn’t have to go through this to get it to work. I won’t be updating again.

Great if only one user
App has been very functional for me except for one big flaw: I cannot get it to work for multiple users. Ideally, my husband and my kids would all be able to use the app, but there is absolutely no multiple user functionality that I can figure out. Wouldn’t it be nifty if I could also allow other people to access the GDO (maybe a cleaning lady who is allowed to access it every Tuesday between noon and 4), or the UPS guy (like Amaozn’s new secure home delivery system launch recently). At the very least, having an easy way to give family member access is a must.

Please make this app better!!
I am begging you, these garage door openers are expensive and the fact that the app barely works is so frustrating! I haven’t been able to log in on my for three months. I’ve always had major issues and some of the issues I’ve had are terrifying. Once I could get the app to open my door so I used the key pad instead and then three hours later in the middle of the night the app decided to work and opened my door at like 2am!! I thought someone had hacked into my app and opened my door! That is a huge safety issue for me. If any one is looking to by the opener go for it but do not rely on this app!!

Awesome features!
This app is amazing! The ability to open and close the garage door and see the status is fantastic; along with turn on the accessory ports. A few times it has been slow to in the “Loading GDOs” screen but it’s improved significantly with updates! I was able to control the GDO in real time from over 150 miles away! Poor ratings need to be considered with a grain of salt; this app only gets better as updates to fix issues are rolled out.

Useless app
I bought the garage door opener because I could use my phone to open and close the garage door. It works most of the time until you lose power for a split second and it forgets all if it’s settings. To re set up the garage door app is so frustrating. The app freezes, it gets caught in a cycle of and you have to restart the process over and over. I’m at a point now where I’ve spent 40 minutes trying to set up the garage door opener on my phone and I’ve given up. This app is absolute garbage. Hope you read this before you buy one of these garage door openers. 1 Star is generous. This thing is junk. I’m going to use the opener as a piñata and buy a better one.

Please update app!
This app needs some serious updating and a refreshed user interface. Geo-Fencing functionality has never worked on my GDO. Logging in can be problematic at times. The process to reconnect the opener to Wi-Fi network needs to be improved. It would be nice to see WiFi IP address and MAC id to know that it is securely connected to my network. Please listen to all the other reviewers and give us a better app.
