Not only do I hook it up to my transfer switch (using only pre marked breakers) when the power goes out, now I put it under the bed in our motor home and hook it up to the RV transfer switch and can run everything but the A/C unit! And I turn it on and off with my phone! This makes boondocking so much easier. Just a quality built unit that makes life easier in difficult times.
Ugh Goal Zero. Where to begin? The app does have a fresh new coat of paint and is visually pleasing. The interface places elements in the expected locations, which makes it easy to use. But beauty is more than skin deep and in this case function is more than a shiny new look to an app. Goal zero still suffers from the connectivity issue that has been plague them for years. The app will connect but then moments later loses connection and you have to close and reopen the app to have the connection reengage. For the legacy 3000 users with the Yeti Link for your expansion tanks, I hate to break it to you but once again zero goals releases another app without the ability to turn off auto update to fix the old software update that broke their own equipment. It is amazing that they utterly spit in the eye of legacy users, and absolutely refuse to put in a software toggle switch that will stop the device from going into the every two hour auto update loop. They really have abandoned and turn their backs on those suffering with the link module update issue. I guess to them a brand new coat of paint is good enough.
I love the app as it allows me to see whether my unit is full or not. It also has charging profiles that I can set from anywhere, once the Wi-Fi and cellular features are properly set up and able to connect phone w the unit, regardless of whether I’m home or at work it works seamless. Only thing I wish could be added is a way to see how full expansion tanks are in real time, percentage wise, and a way to completely turn unit off so that if I leave it charging I can have extra confidence that it won’t overcharge, or a way to turn on using my phone so I can get it to charge or not charge as I would desire. Although it has a built in charge controller I wish I could have this extra peace of mind and added control since I have a solar panel that’s connected all the time to the unit. Overall very great app to have.
I rely on this app daily for my off-grid lifestyle. Just updated today, and the app shows “GoalZero” screen for some seconds, then kicks me back to iPhone Home Screen. Tried quitting and restarting app multiple times, same result :( Wish so much I could revert to prior working app version that I use daily!! *Edited* Deleting and reinstalling the app fixed this, though importantly I had to sign in to the app again first, since otherwise I couldn’t connect to my Yeti even when putting it in pairing mode, since my Yeti 1500X still retained its WiFi settings from the prior version of this app. I appreciate the new app changes now it doesn’t crash immediately on opening :)
I was having problems with my GZ1500 while out doing offgrid camping. My 12v output socket stopped working. So called tech support. They directed me to update my firmware. Started this s while whole thing because I had tried to connect to their app once and my password would not work. Anyway, I had tried change my password. Before I was able thier system timed out and I had to wait 24 hrs to reset. After waiting 24 hrs, finally got the app to connect to a network to find that my 12v input is bad. Just tried to setup my GZ500 and to connect direct through WiFi is tough. I think I got it to connect, but now the app just shows advertisements and will not go back to the device.
Quality piece of equipment but if you buy this and don’t buy the matching solar panels, instead, using your own, you’re going to have a drama. You need to special adapters that they do not provide nor sell on their website. It really delayed the install of my conversion and I was unable to use my own solar panels for weeks until the special part arrived. They are not very helpful when you ask exactly what is needed and they certainly don’t disclose this even though I asked them about installing in my truck camper with my own panels. Have they provided the information at least, better yet the part, I would’ve given five stars.
Love the fridge. Kinda like the app. When it disconnects from the phone due to leaving the area, on return returning, it does not pick up the current fridge temperature. Meaning that the app displays a different temp than the display on the front of the Alta 50. In order to correct this you have to turn the fridge off, then back on, reestablish the Bluetooth connection, make whatever settings changes that you had previously made and then the link works. I’ve had several other portable fridges before this one some with apps. I’ve never seen behavior like this app has. Please fix it Goal Zero. Thanks.
My yeti 3000x worked perfectly with goal zero for years. The latest app update required establishing a new connection to the Yeti battery pack. The app hung multiple times while trying to updated the Yeti firmware. Fj ally, the yeti and app work properly again. One thing that really needs to be addressed is that the Yeti battery, in my case Yeti 3000X, turns on the lcd display and display backlight every time the unit charges itself according to the battery charge profile setting in the app. The LCD display and backlight seem to consume a fair amount of power and by the time I notice the unit has charged and manually shut of the LCD display, 1% or more of the battery charge has been consumed needlessly. PLEASE update the firmware so the LCD display does not turn on after charging. That would make the app and bettery perfect. Thank you.
I don’t what’s going on but I have 3 yeti 3000X and two of them all ways drop and I can’t control them . This never happened till this new app update came out very frustrating:( I received some feedback from goal zero and unpaired the 2 that were dropping , reinstalled and it’s working perfectly Thank you 😊
The App works flawlessly when using it as a remote for either Bluetooth or WiFi. It has a lot of good features to control the Goal Zero battery pack. You can customize some charging & discharging settings. I even set it up to turn on Goal Zero lights at my house when I’m at work before heading home. 5 STARS
This one is a nightmare to connect to bluetooth and Wi-Fi and to maintain that connection. Even worse was trying to update the firmware. It was a nightmare. It would try and connect to Wi-Fi, timeout and I'd have to re-pair the unit everytime it would time-out. I eventually had to delete the app and redownload it- twice! The app would say that the update had failed to try again yet the unit was actually updating. The app needs some serious work.
I am still having problems with the new 3.2 version. The app finally was updated a year ago to where I could pair. But my Yeti 1400 is stuck on firmware 0.4.x because when I try to go to Settings, I get a spinning activity indicator that never goes away. I don’t know if it’s because the firmware is so old, but either way I can’t update it. I can turn the ports on and off, so the main screen is working ok, but Settings is fubar
All of their solar panels are comparable with their generators where indicated. The customer support answers the phone right away. They are knowledgeable and helpful. You can trust them to find the best solution for you. You can’t go wrong with Goal Zero!
The machine is pretty dang cool. It can do a lot. But when it comes to the app it was not thought out well. Most of the features are spotty at best. The data usage chart that allows you to see what your device has used and what it has brought in doesn’t work. And keeping a phone paired to the system is next to impossible, unless you never close the app or your phone. The other way to keep it from disconnecting from the Yeti is to make sure you never get the phone more than 1 ft away from it.
My app is up-to-date, and it won’t open. It won’t open on my iPad or my iphone. Can you fix it? I enjoyed seeing the room temperature, and seeing the battery charging, etc. It worked until this afternoon. ……………… Update: I deleted the app and reinstalled it. I went through the process of reconnecting to my yeti. Now, the app works.
GZ really needs to integrate the Link module better into the Yeti display. The total charge left not taking into account how many or much energy is left in the tank system is a real problem Also, not having a Lithium tank option is a disappointment as well. The restriction on how much solar a Yeti can take in needs quite a boost, it simply doesn’t come close to several other competitors out there. There is a ton of competition out there now where there was very little just 5 years ago and certainly 10 years ago. Goal Zero has always been a high quality brand who cares about the planet. But it’s time step up the game. Regards, Tracy F
Was easy to connect and I am able to see accessible energy, time to charge, switch power ports on or off from the app, and energy usage history. Was easy to update the firmware as well.
Yesterday I could see how many amps I was either receiving or using. Today that’s not happening. Only wattage. When powering a camper, everything is based on amperage. The wiring in your camper is based on amps and because of that it’s a really good idea to know what kind of amps you’re putting in your wiring or you will have a fire if you’re not fused correctly. Removing amps from this app was a really stupid thing to do and renders both my yeties virtually useless for use as a power source in a camping vehicle
The two main uses for this app are to check your battery level without needing to look at the screen and to update your firmware. I’ve yet to successfully process a firmware update with the app despite trying all kinds of things support suggested. And connecting over WiFi rarely works. Most of the time I have to remove my Yeti from the app and repair it to be able to connect to it.
Updated: the situation only gets worse. Don’t buy goal zero. The reason this major update exists (and was delayed) is to support the Yeti 4000. It will not maintain its WiFi connection to the Yeti. It connects initially, then disconnects, ad infinitum. It’s a real shame since without remote monitoring or control the Yeti 4000 plus tank is worthless as a backup plot standby power supply for any off-grid or remote application.
The app allows you to plug in your power station and then manage the charge/discharge flux to help prolong the batteries life. Turn on USB, outlet or charge controls remotely.
I have a 1500X and 3000X and both are not able to connect and stay connected to Wi-Fi. Goal Zero tech support has acknowledged their are serious Wi-Fi problems but are ‘working’ on updates. There is also no way to force a Yeti Tank firmware update unless there is also a regular Yeti firmware update. I have $10k in Goal Zero hardware and regret the purchase. Their App control is stuck in the year 2015.
My Air 👍🏼 After you set up & Learn the Apps there’s two of them it’s much easier to use.
Nice 💨 but you need at least two Solor panels to get at least close to a full Charge. So I’m still using the wall socket, to make up the power supply i need . Well it started working good, now it’s not working properly at all.
The Yeti 3000 is solid built and reliable. That said I still only give it 2 stars as the WiFi is just poor and unreliable. I have two homes and get 5-7 power failures per year . I need to monitor the Yeti remotely and cannot. I have done all upgrades and am a network engineer. This communications in the Yeti is simply substandard
I’ve tried at least 10 times to connect the device to the app and it constantly times out, although the app identifies both by WiFi and the device. It’s frustrating!
Just a rock solid and reliable system that is safety minded. On average my installed system generates and provides 1 kWh per day of backup emergency power independent of the grid.
I was really surprised to see that Charging Profiles don't have the ability to take into account the time of day (thereby useless for avoiding high energy rates during mid/late afternoon hours.)
Once connected works okay, but connecting is a problem. Can only direct connect but that connection cannot access the internet due to its takeover of the Wi-Fi connection. When trying to connect anywhere I can get past where I input my WiFi information.
I got a goal zero 3000 current firmware version 1.7.6 and I never can get a update to 1.8.6 from the app I also open the yeti to disconnect the battery and reset the unit still do nothing
Can’t connect my new Yeti 4000 to WiFi using the app. Only Bluetooth connection works but you can’t update the firmware over Bluetooth, only WiFi. The instructions say to update the firmware to fix the problem but since it can’t connect to WiFi then I’m stuck.
The app worked flawlessly until two days ago when my iphone auto-updated the app, and now I cannot even load the app. Please fix or revert back to the old version!
Before the Goal Zero app 4.1 all was working well. Interfaced with both my 1400 and 3000 without issue, however today the app auto uploaded, now the app crashes before connecting QC?
