Hydros is new, and rn generally for people that are ok with both sides that coin. Love the cloud connect. Especially as I travel. Frustrated that rn the app is having issues loading my collective, "waiting for config," but the web app works great. Am excitedfor / hopeful Coralvue will deliver on: - More 3rd party support. Love that wave engines can plug right in and are controlled through the collective. Let's get more of this with return pumps, skimmers, etc. - More login options like face id - More availability for the Focustronic Mastertronic automatic water tester / or an "in house option" or something. Only thing missing to really be able to be #1 in this space is this. (understand this is not fully in coralvues control at the moment, but feedback they need to hear to really be competitive)
The app is easy fairly easy to set up and use. However, I learned today that it randomly logs you out of your account, which was almost a disaster for me. I had moved some rockwork quickly out of my tank to capture and remove a fish. This lowered the water level and my ATO kicked on. Realizing my mistake, I went to turn off the ATO in the app, only to find that I had been logged out. I didn’t remember my password because I had only entered it once back when I set up my account and there was no way to sign in with facial recognition, so in order to turn off my ATO I had to unscrew and unplug it from the controller unit. Luckily the plug was in a place that was easy to get to and my salinity only dropped by 0.005 SG. I would not trust this app/controller if I had valuable corals in my tank until they fix this login problem. Either keep me logged in, or allow users to log in with Face ID.
you HAVE to create an account AND apply a password to that account just to use the app. I’m not sure how many people have a problem with neighbors hacking their power heads through their routers but apparently it’s a big problem somewhere…never heard of it myself. At first, the interface was difficult and non-compliant. It automatically setup my 2k as a 4K. So even if I did set it to 20% power, the 2k is still at 100%…which is likely what killed my pink tip torch because it took me 2 DAYS to figure out why the power wouldn’t adjust even though I was changing the settings, thanks for that. When I switched phones, the app is now in “read only mode” I will probably spend a week trying to figure that crap out. BEFORE YOU USE THIS PRODUCT…ask yourself if you want to deal with the headache of trying to figure out what’s wrong with this app every other week. The power head is AWESOME…if the app can work right.
This app works great. Very easy to use and quite intuitive. Only issue I’ve identified is that you can only view 4 modes at a time. The software needs a minor update to correct this. I’ve created a mode to individually turn off filters which are each on their own UPS. So having one mode to keep all other filters on while turning one off is really handy. Seems like a missing display requirement. The app should not limit the # of modes to be displayed as a button to only 4. All created modes are displayed in the drop down text list. Please update as soon as possible. Thanks! Love this product! It’s fantastic. I have 3 tanks controlled with a controller 2. Super happy.
Interface is trash, support for this company is trash, paid $300 for a icecap gyro 2k a few years ago and it worked great. Now it says I need to update firmware for it to work but has no update to select. So now I’m stuck with a fully inoperable pump and a controller that has no software. I’m unable to use a previous version of firmware because the app and desktop version won’t let me select a device to make any changes to unless I update it, and am unable to update it without selecting a device. So I’m stuck in a catch 22 and a useless $300 controller and pump. Would give less than 1 star if I was able to.
Got a water level sensor and a temperature probe about a year ago and I really like knowing my tank’s (freshwater) status and that it’s safe, love the alert features too, only downside is sometimes you have to sign back into your account when you open the app which I could see potentially being an issue.
I hated the app at first. I found it to be a bit of a pain. But thanks to CoralVue listening to consumers and their teams it has come a long way and is super intuitive and easy to use. I’m excited for the new release. Their products are going to change aquarium automation like never before and at a much more affordable price than other major players in the game.
Since the app was updated to only run on IOS 15.0 or higher, it will no longer work on my older iPad Mini since it’s on IOS 12.5.6 and is the highest it will go. I had it working perfectly fine about a month or 2 ago and now my iPad is useless since I only used it for controlling my Hydros Control 3. Pretty disappointed honestly and wish older devices were supported longer since this iPad is in mint condition.
Have to continually delete and reinstall app just to get pump to show up. This app is horrible. Wish I hadn’t even bought this pump. I originally posted a one star review. Customer support worked with me and after multiple emails they had me download a updated version of the app. Everything seems to be working now. Still frustrating to have to go through all of this. You expect a product to be functional when you purchase it.
The app is decent, interface is mostly easy to navigate but there are some bugs. Reordering graphs seems to reset itself every time I open the app. I’m either doing it wrong or there is a bug.
From day one of using Hydros, been using it almost a year, the app has been fantastic. Never freezes, never fails to load, works and functions as it should. With every update the app and controller has increased functionality. I love it!
Being a first time controller user I couldn’t have gone with a better choice than the hydros. The app is easy to understand and use, and regardless of your expertise in controllers, you’ll be up and running from day one. Nice job!!
So awful. Awful pump, awful app. I’ve had the pump for MONTHS and it never worked with the app. I decided to try once again today to try and link it by resetting the app to factory settings - and the whole pump died. It stopped working & I could not get it to start up again for the LIFE of me. Almost destroyed my whole tank & i’m so happy I had a backup powerhead. App interface is confusing and uses jargon i’ve never heard before. Awful. Straight into the trash.
When the app is working it’s great but it can’t connect to my pump or even find it today. I deleted my pumps and tried to add them back, nothing. So I deleted the app and reinstalled still nothing. So frustrating. Please help me
Using this application about 6 months zero issues easy to use. Set my gyres up in minutes auto alert for when I loose power great overall. Now let’s win that starter pack!
Seems to work pretty well overall for me. I like the notifications I get. It did take a few mins to figure out how to set various pump settings at different times of the day.
Saw a video on this app and how it works with the new controller coming out. Looks like it is going to be easy to program and have features other controllers don’t have
The current version is great. It is stable and very easy to use. Setting up the pumps and controlling everything is easy compared to other software out there.
I love the update. Great layout and very easy to navigate settings. Selecting a pump icon opens up instant control and advanced settings, which makes adjustments super easy. Light and dark themes are awesome too.
Shame such a pricey and reputable pump is accompanied by such a garbage application to support it! Constant errors, messages that it needs to update to something that doesn’t even seem to exist, very glitchy, and not at all user friendly. You guys need to get your development team together and put together an app that is on par with the price of your product. This junk looks like a high school project!
Great app i haven’t used it a whole bunch except to first set it up but works great and never had a issues with my wave engines, can’t wait to get the controls
Update on the app looks neat and all. But unless you force close it everytime when you go to open it back up and says can not connect. Didn’t have any problems with the previous app though. I’m sure once the new update gets all the kinks out it will be nice to use as well. Haven’t used new one enough to find any other issues.
Works great for me but there’s no option for international phone numbers and even worse, no app notifications. That’s right - the app can’t send notifications to your phone. What?
Wave makers should not claim to be WiFi, they are not. I will try to return the IceCap because of false advertising. Don’t buy an icecap hydros control er. Their app team keeps spitting out what they call updates but just makes them worse. Every update causes a new problem. Their developers are horrible.
I've ysed the app for just 1 day and found at least 3 bugs while trying to create a custom feeding mode. The app is a disaster. Tech support is very responsive though. How did they manage to get 3.8 stars in AppStore? Thirty four (34!) 5-star reviews on Oct 1st - that's impressive!
To pay this much money and can’t even get it to connect to turn it on! Only had it for 2 months and by pure luck i get it to work and pray i don’t loose power or that will start a 3hr struggle to get it to work maybe! I wish I could return this pice of $;@&!!!!!!
