The cube alone is worth it. Personally, I got a stand as well. I was going to invest in LED strips, but I have spent the last 3 months trying to get the cube to connect to the app. I just read a review today that said you had to put your phone on top of the blue button to get the app to work. I just tried it and unbelievably, it worked. I am going to see if it stays connected. If not, I will not make any other purchase with this company. Again, the cube is great, but connecting to the cube manually every time you want to use it is not great.
Amazing product, highly recommend and have 2 with another on the way. However the app doesn’t let me connect my cube to my wifi. I’ve tried all methods, took the password off router etc to troubleshoot. App only works when directly connecting to cube. Seems to be based on wled. Many options and awesome product that would be perfect if the app worked better and my cube would stay on my wifi! Edit - updated the app. It works flawlessly now. Review based on new update - perfect function, this product is my favorite lighting fixture at home. Can’t wait to see what else these dudes come up with
I use that word for the obvious reason the app is the weak Link in the Hyper Space experience. And since the connection allows you to do everything with the Hyper Space that you would like to do, it kind of defeats the purpose to not be able to connect it. That's why I titled this review "appalling" because it seems appalling to me that anybody would let this slide. I have tried all the updates, but it still comes down to the app not being able to connect with 5G. what's extremely frustrating is that I have seen the option to connect manually, pop up while using the app in an attempt to connect it. but I could count on one hand the amount of times that's happened. none of them have been by choice. They've all occurred through happenstance. Therefore very difficult to repeat because I don't even know how it happened in the first place. This is also compounded by the fact that your selections for the cube are on a timer, when chosen from the box with the blue button. so even if you do land on a setting that you like, it's only gonna last for a very limited time. it's just really awkward and appalling.
This cube is fairly lovely. My husband bought it for the house and I have it on a shelf in our living room. I love being able to make different combinations and save the favorites. I enjoy hanging out in the morning with a couple slow, meditative patterns as the day dawns. I really want there to be smart features, like timed schedules of different favorites (HomeKit integration with scenes), auto shut-off schedule (not just one 120 min sleep timer), HomeKit voice command control (turn off/on, fav #, reactive off/on, etc.), increase/decrease brightness over time (like pre-dawn to dawn). I’d even pay to swap out the control box for these features. I might even add a second cube then.
You spend three hundred bucks on a cool toy sure to be this hot of your next party, and after you set everything up and turn it on, you find out the WiFi connection on the Hypercube is garbage. I did manage to get it working for a few minutes by moving to a 2.4hz only network which seemed to help. Fine it’s not the worst workaround. But AS I WAS USING THE APP the Hypercube’s wifi lost connection and now the app WILL NOT connect. In my career I’ve been a mobile app tester, network engineer, and a QA tester. I can safely say with all confidence, this app and/or the wifi implementation on the hardware is broken, and this company doesn’t seem to know how to fix it. Maybe their network devs left the company? It shouldn’t matter to consumers since this can be fixed with a few weeks of consulting engineers to fix whatever is broken. The Hypercube itself is nice but without the “control” we were promised in the fancy marketing material, this should be half the price as you are at the mercy of an ever changing set of colors and patterns, most of which are meh.
Having to constantly turn on/off the Wireless connection on my phone to get the cube to reconnect to the app, happening consistently when the app is minimized and randomly when the app is open. Otherwise the app does work well and has a lot of modes and color options. Would be cool to see an Alexa integration or some other way to turn the cube on other than the button or app.
Love love LOVE my cubes, however linking them simultaneously to the app seems impossible, and I can’t get one cube to link to the app and manual suggests. I really hope they can fix the linking app errors or provide better directions or support in the future.
I love the cube, hate the app. I can’t connect this thing to my wifi, no matter how many times I’ve tried resetting my wifi, turn on and off the hypercube, unplugging it, messing with everything I can on the app, I can’t get my cube properly set up with the app. It’s infuriating, especially when you overcharge so much for the cube, and you can’t even make a proper working application for this piece of art…. Very very frustrating.
The cube itself is absolutely stunning and everything I had hoped for. The app, when temporarily connecting to the cube, works great….however, I’ve been trying to connect to my cube permanently for the last two days with no luck. I’ve tried each method suggested in the manual and none seems to work.
I bought this product back before Christmas. I got the Hypercube^10 and it’s totally worth the money! The app is really basic UI wise, but the amount of features are great! The color palette, preloaded pattern profiles, timers, etc. worth my money!
Loved my cube until I added the app to a new phone and decided to do the firmware update. It never rebooted and now won’t turn on. Edit: I was able to get a new drive and I’m back up and running! Thank you 🙏
So far so good, it’s basic but the amount of patterns and features it has is pretty crazy. So far no issues like other folks have apparently had. Fingers crossed it stays ok.
I just did a firmware update today and it ruined one of my hypercubes. It is now bricked and no longer responds via the app or manually plugging/unplugging. Disappointing that the team would release a bugged firmware update that ruins a customers product. I was a happy customer until today This review will remain until this is resolved and I have a message out as well
The cube itself is great, the app nearly never can connect though which makes it worthless. I would like to be able to control the modes and enjoy the cube far more but most often cannot. If this was fixed I would be buying another and recommending but as of now it’s a huge flaw.
You learn it eventually but it isn’t intuitive. The music reactivity is decent. Half the time I can’t tell if it’s reacting or just following its programming.
I want my hypercube to turn on when i’m home and turn off when im not home. Simplest of requests. Seriously. It’s embarrassing this isn’t a feature yet. Please, hyper space, this isn’t even hard to implement!
The app works great if you connect directly and you are holding your phone up to the button, but other than that the app is completely useless. Would be nice if it saved the Hyper cube so you don’t have to tea bag the cube to change the pattern :)
Never can connect on the app and when I do I have to go back to the app cause a setting resets if you aren’t on it 24/7 and if I close the app forgetting I had that on it will make it hard to re connect
The cube is amazing, the app, not so much. Can’t connect to the cube to change anything. I can turn on and off with the cube button, but the app is so far behind on updates. Great idea for a product, but bad idea on the app if it’s not going to be updated regularly.
The Cube gets 5 stars. The app gets 1 star. It will not connect to wi-fi. I can only connect through the temp section and 5G service. I’ve tried re-booting, re-entering credentials, etc. to no avail. Love the Cube but the app is useless.
Have had them for a year. No updates. Still disconnect every time I want to use them I have to unplug them. Well now they won’t connect at all. 0/5 waste of money smh pay me I’ll fix your awful software
I have to connect several times to get the app to work. It disconnects if I switch to other apps and it’s really hard to reconnect. Hoping for updates soon.
The cube is great. The app is disgracefully bad - won’t connect. Won’t allow you to remove the cube when it won’t connect Says cube is off when it’s running. Won’t show it’s hypercube WiFi. And is SLOW Horrible software
You’d think a piece of technological art like the HyperCube could have Bluetooth/wifi connection that actually functions. My niece’s doll house connects better. Cube is 110% on point. But this is a rating for the App. So no bonuses there. The app worked great for the first few months and then I got a new wifi carrier. It can’t connect anymore on android devices and it took about a month of messing around with it to where the app will pop up and connect if I switch my wifi connection to the HyperCube. Since it’s not connecting the other way around, as it should, the app disappears after one use and I have to reset up the wifi every time I want to change a setting or turn it on/off. This product would do much better if they fix the app. I won’t buy another cube to sync until the app has had some majors updates.
The product is good but the app that runs it is crap. It will not stay connected, so there’s no way to control the HyperCube. You cannot even turn it off and on.
I was thinking about purchasing a couple more but the connection is terrible for Wi-Fi and I’m hoping you guys would fix the app before I make my purchase.
The important things: - Firmware update just doesn’t do anything. It spins for a bit and then stops and nothing has changed. There also appears to be 2 places to update firmware, one auto (the one that doesn’t work) and one manual (except I can’t find where to download the firmware). The weird things: - There’s a bunch of labels styled as if they’re links, but they do nothing when tapped. One of these implies it links to where you can download firmware, but no. - The control to select the fixed pattern is something you might find on an android app from 2010. The sloppy things: - A ux designer is rolling in their grave right now. - The tabs at the bottom are styled identically to the buttons at the top… - Some of the buttons at the top aren’t buttons but are toggles instead - toggles that still use a separate style when focused - It constantly needs to load when switching pages instead of managing state properly Honestly it looks like an early career android developer, with no support, was told to mangle together an iOS app and just made something somewhat usable.
Great app features for my hypercube but missing full accessibility features
It would be great if I was able to use my hypercube functions the same way as all of my other wi-fi and app enabled led light products/devices with Amazon Alexa voice commands. Even a simple on/off functionality support would be amazing.
