The 7News app by WSVN - 7 News Miami is a valuable resource for staying informed on the go. As South Florida’s leader in breaking news, weather and sports it offers features like push notifications for major stories, live video streams, weather radar, consumer recalls, and even horoscope and lottery results. However, some users have reported issues with freezing during live streams and non-skippable initial advertisements. Despite these concerns, the app remains a reliable way to keep up with South Florida news. Remember that individual experiences may vary, so exploring other news apps is always a good idea.
I appreciate this app so much- it works beautifully no matter what location I put in. I travel a lot and I like to view possible storms and other kinds of weather conditions that may interrupt traveling safely or any plans I may have made. The live radar is awesome- you can enlarge it to show a general pattern and direction or pinpoint your exact location, which was invaluable during a time that a tornado “visited” our neighborhood.
There’s a commercial before every segment. Have to keep pushing play then Watch or listen to the commercial and then after commercial press play again to watch or listen to the news segment. Then press play again for the next segment only to watch commercial press play again for the segment. First news app I’ve ever seen that require so many clicks and play so many commercials. All the other news apps you just press play once and go. Totally unsafe if your trying to get news 7 while driving or even walking. Seems to be more important to get the commercial than it is to get the local news.
It seems that the videos on here lack important information containing to the weather and news until after the storm arrives. I think for the major news and weather network in the community so much could be improved for Lawton. Point blank it just sounds like a bunch of rambling nonsense with a tid bit of somewhat important information. Where are the reporters where is the news on Lawton community events cross me traffic business. Military news. Business events. Community leader interviews. Fire and police interviews, community health interviews updates and status. Where is the reporting on community outreach and special events. Traffic reports, school events. I really think KSWO COULD DO A LOT MORE… and do it much better than they currently do. THAT SMALL TOWN NEWS AGENCY THING JUST ISNT WORKING ANY MORE!! Lawton has GROWN… so should it’s news agency!!
I reloaded the app in May after discarding it months ago. I appreciate the frequent severe storm updates it allows me to plan the care of animals and equipment.
Good for severe weather, annoying for everything else
I like the notifications for the very severe weather SW OK can get, but the constant lightning has been detected near my location at 2 am, 3am and 4am gets old really quick. Especially since I’ve turned off the notifications for those kinds of things within the app, but they notify me anyways. Not bad overall but still needs some improvement
I used to really like this app, but it has been terrible this year. The radar loads extremely slow now & the lightning notifications are just annoying. . My family depends on this app when our satellite goes out during bad weather, but if it’s going to be this slow, a tornado will blow my house away before the radar loads. The video feature doesn’t work well either. Please improve these issues so I don’t have to add another local weather stations app. Love the chief meteorologist Matt & Miss Mandy too.
NEEDS: Barometric Pressure info—have to go to website for this data. NOTIFICATIONS — love the Lightning near you but when notification is tapped on, it takes you to a map of the US and you have to zoom in to Oklahoma then your area to discover where the lightning struck.
This app is never accurate. Never matches the tv forecast or other local forecasts. Other weather apps are constantly updated, this one is rarely updated. This app is supposed to provide a reliable weather forecast, instead it rarely gives any accurate information..... missing huge weather events like cold fronts and rain. I would give it ZERO stars. It’s obvious that the app rarely gets attention from whoever is in charge of updating information.
I have used the kswo first alert app for years now. I absolutely loved the feature to be able to track the storms and the tornados. I absolutely hate this new update and wish you would consider redoing it back to the radar. Everything else in the update is AMAZING I do not like the new layout nor the new look of the feature on the radar in the new update.
Everything on this app is great, the only downfall is the radar loads extremely slow, regardless if I’m using my Wi-Fi or personal Data, it’s still very slow. However, I still continue to use the app, and hopefully this will be updated and corrected soon!
Only problem is the 30 second ad before every weather alert video they post. Even if there is a tornado that touched down somewhere you have to watch an ad first before you know where it is.
They send out way too many push notifications for an app that is suppose to also be used for emergency alerts. They treat push notifications like a twitter account and send them out all day every day.
This app is annoying. It gives multiple notifications, regardless of settings. I get the lightening is close, and I bet it will continue to get closer, considering I was just warned about it. Do I need to be told every 5 minutes? Do I need to know the weather in Kansas? Nope. Stop notifying me about that too. It is well designed app that functions well enough to annoy you.
The idea of a first-alert weather app is great. The alerts are helpful. The video could be helpful but forcing us to sit through the same stupid commercial over and over before seeing the video is just maddening. Maybe KSWO would bite the bullet and convert this to a pure weather app, as a service to the Lawton area community, without having to suffer Jay Burk's face time and again.
They’re wrong more than they’re right. The only thing this app gets correct is the temperature. Their radar is consistently not showing incoming storms and and the storms it does show come way later than what the app says it will be. Don’t rely on this weather app Trust me!!
This app has a “c” and an “r” in front. The sadly biased views of this station has affected the radar; as it is not right, confused, late or not whats going on. Their motto is “You can count on us” should be finished with “to get it wrong” “to be late” and “not represent what’s actually going on”. The ads are annoying as well
BLUF: so have this app for “First Alert” with all the tornados and adverse weather in 2024. But… You get a alert on notifications, and click on it for the alert, but wait… You have to watch 45 second to a minute of local ads before you can access the app?! The Tornado could have tore up whole area in those 45 seconds of pre determined ads?! Get it fixed!!!
A weather channel needs to report the weather. I try to get an update but the long commercials are just not worth watching on order to get a forecast that is 30%accurate.
If you hire people to give the weather reports, please teach them how to pronounce the counties. Caddo is not Kato. I’m older and it shows the knowledge of the big boss, not the new people. KOCO can and does pronounce counties correctly. Please help them.
I like the fact the app alerts me when there is weather in my area, but I don't need a new notification every time lightning gets one-tenth of a mile closer to my home.
For decades, KSWO has been a leader in delivering the best weather to our local area. Keeping with the times, the KSWO provides us with this top notch app. I have used the app for a few days now and I am very impressed. The app is incredibly easy to use and is packed with useful features.
I am frustrated with this app b/c it does not perform as the tutorial shows it dies. When you set some options, you can not change them nor reset them. I will probably uninstall this app soon
