Got my Tornado warnings 3-5min before my IPhone an city let me know we had one in our area.. You can go to settings an pick what alerts/warnings you want to be Notified. When I get one it’s a live video that’s been uploaded about what’s going on in your area explaining what kind of weather is heading your way into great detail.. I’ve had app 4 months an I haven’t had no Issues
What I thought I was getting was a weather alert system. Instead, I’m constantly getting notices about temp, wind and what “might” happen. You leave one with no alternative than to turn off notifications. That, of course, nullifies the reason why you have the app in the first place. Another thing I have noticed is : The main reason I have tuned in to your weather is because you give a translation of the weather that is professional and informative, without the hype. Since this new app came available, your delivery seems to have changed. As if, because you have hounded people with the excessive details, you have to change your delivery (exaggerate every possible event) to make it interesting enough for folks to watch anyway. Too many missed forecasts because your focus doesn’t seem to be on useful information but theatrics to sell advertising. I understand that KXII is a business, but you are swimming in a sea of diminishing returns. I liked your station better before the app. Just because you can do it doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. I want to immediately alert to that notification, because I know that what you have to say has relevance to my safety and security. As it is now, I have already turned off the notification sound, and am contemplating turning off the notifications altogether. The app could have been a useful tool, but instead, it’s a nuisance. I know you guys are better than that. KMSmith
We live in Telephone, Texas now. Which is in Fannin County. Lived 20 years in Sherman always listen to Tom and Steve for the weather on channel 12 and on our phone s for updates. However I have family moving to Pecan Gap in Delta County so I am constantly checking the weather for both counties sure would like to include Delta County now in our weather updates. Thank y’all! Sheila and Greg Spanihel
I enabled the notifications for this app initially, hoping to be informed about severe weather, but instead I'm constantly getting updates throughout the day - about the weather getting, getting hotter, it might rain, getting hotter ... it just seems unnecessary. I disabled notifications, which is unfortunate because getting alerts for severe weather would have been great but it's not worth being constantly bothered.
I have iPhone SE, iOS 13.1.1. Hourly and daily forecast has stopped working. Not sure when it stopped, but presumably with the latest iOS update. Otherwise, this app has been a decently solid platform.
The notifications just say “ A station alert has arrived”. When I go to the app, I have a really hard time finding out what the “alert” is for. There is no list of active warnings and the radar is so hard to use. The actual line is obscured by a layer on top. This app is not as helpful as it is annoying.
Background and cloud graphic makes it very difficult to see the information. The clouds in the background make information recede. Please consider a little darker background or bolder lettering. I have tried my phones dark mode and even brightening but it does not change the background one bit. I like the app but use others because I cannot see the information clearly.
Would be nice to get the Facebook live notifications for severe weather on the app. I also don’t like the commercial before my severe weather alerts. Otherwise it is a great app to keep up with events when you can’t watch the news.
All kinds of phone alerts, open app and all you get most of the time is a radar map. Period. Used to have meteorologists in events of severe weather, no more. Noo there are no meteorologists explaining anything, just a map only if it’s outside of Monday - Friday 8a-6p. Very sad. Had more live coverage when the area populations was half of what it is now
The notifications that are not related to the weather are really unnecessary. The attempts at humor would be tolerable if the notifications weren’t never ending. For example, getting a notification about the arrival of ‘Hot Harry’ at midnight on a workday makes me want to delete this app. Maybe someone else at the tv station should be responsible for sending out the updates for this app.
The weather videos flash by so fast I can’t find my county & town. Also, can’t hear the weather person even though I’ve unmuted the sound in the app & my volume on phone is turned all the way up. Maybe I’m doing something wrong?
I get notifications continuously if we are having any kind of weather besides sunshine. Only to be taken to an ad that I have to watch before I can see a 10 second clip of a weather video from 4 days ago. This new app is trash.
You send out way to many notifications. I only have two checked and y’all are still sending ones that are not checked. Not really concerned of light rain on Election Day at 4:54 am
To much advertising in the middle of the weather. I know the ads support overhead operations but not necessary to mix them in like STEW. Mike Stribling, Roxton Tx….
So sad to hear that KXII has selected to move weather alerts to the new app. Update received today 11/15/19. I tried the new app when it first came out and removed it after a week because it was keeping me awake telling how many lightening strikes there were each minute in areas not even close to me. It was wearing me out! I will be changing to receive my weather alerts from KTEN.
