Absolutely the worst internet service ever
I’ve used this internet provider for about 4 months and ever since then all the company had done has made one lie to me after another. I was told when I I first had it installed that it would be $65 for the first 3 months and then $99 after that. When my first bill came it was $99 so I called the company and asked why it was so high and they made all kind of excuses for several different fees I was never told about. Then when the three months was over I called again because my price was $130 when it should have only been $99. I have called this company several times over the past 4 months to try to get my internet fixed and all they seem to want to do is charge me more money. It rarely ever has good signal my television spends more time buffering than it actually does playing and when I call to try to get it fixed they tell my I have used all of my data. I’ve tried to tell them that there is no way I’ve used it because I don’t watch but maybe a hour or so worth of tv in the evening times and most of the time it don’t work anyway and all anybody can ever say it that “ I’ve used all of my data would I like to purchase some more”. Everytime I call all the want is more money and I’m already overpaying for the sorry service as it is. This is the absolute worst service I have ever had if you are thinking about going with this company be ready to be lied too and screwed over because that is all they do.

Pay $204 a month had it for less than 2 weeks and it’s absolute TRASH !!!
No stars is more like it !! ... So I’ve moved to a remote area which only offers satellite internet. We had been using Xfinity in our old house and it was WONDERFUL. I knew not to expect speeds from viasat like I got from Xfinity but I did expect to at least be able to connect. I don’t know how they are still in business. I think we as customers are being ripped off by viasat and need to come together and do something about them. This company is stealing our hard earned money and taking advantage of the fact that no one else offers internet in their customers area. I had a choose of this or Hughes net. Needless to say , I should have chosen Hughes net. Viasat should be ashamed of themselves for telling ppl that the internet will work just fine for this , and just fine for that and then get it & not even be able to connect. I am currently sitting in my driveway connected to my cars wifi Bc the internet I pay over $200 a month for that is right inside my home wouldn’t even connect for me to do this review. I thought that if I could save just one person from spending their hard earned money on this garbage of a company then it worth me coming out in the cold and using my gas to right this then it’s worth it. Fix this trash you are giving ppl viasat !!

Free advice: Viasat internet is not as promised
When I first spoke to salesman about getting Viasat internet service, I explained to him that I have 4 streaming TV services that I love, plus several devices in my home that use internet, so I was skeptical satellite internet would be good for us. He assured me that data was unlimited and even on sale for $70 for 90 days, and there would be no problem using my streaming services. Totally untrue. I was signed up for lowest tier, and less than 2 weeks went by before I had no internet service at all. Finally got through to a Viasat rep who explained about high speed data vs standard data, and that my “allotment” for hi-speed had been exceeded. I am now paying $150/month for 150GB hi-speed data, which allows average of 5GB of data daily of hi-speed data, & which gets exceeded every day with only 2 smartphones in household, with no streaming services used at all. I am more than frustrated and furious because I was lied to. I have lowered resolution on all tv sets in house, plus all apps I can think of that “might” use hi-speed data, and will still run out of allowance before end of month, and this after buying an additional 60GB of hi-speed data for $60 MORE dollars. I signed up for Viasat less than a month ago, and hate it. Beware!

Absolutely would NOT recommend!
I’ve had their service for almost a month. Was promised that the package they recommended would cover what me and my family would need. I was already calling on day two of having service because our internet wouldn’t connect to the tv or phones if one or the other was on. The internet box (modem) would kick on and off. I’ve called numerous times this month to be told every time my problem was we used up our internet usage. There’s no way we could if we couldn’t even get the service to work properly at first to even use. I just now purchased the extra data as bad as I wanted to and it still isn’t working. Everytime we call, we get a foreign person who absolutely has no clue how to handle our situations and I’ve yet to speak to one I can understand vise versa I know they can’t understand us to properly resolve our situations. I wished I could of read the reviews before hand before I signed up with them. This company is a absolute nightmare to deal with and is a crook. If it doesn’t start to get better by next month, I will be disconnecting with them & go back to Hugh’s Net and file a complaint with The Better Business Bureau. Please don’t fall for Viasat lies and becoming one of their many victims!!!

Constant UI Issues and Even Worse Internet
Just downloaded the app after months of trying to use the router interface to update security and passwords but every time I save it says: 404 errors constantly, so I decided to go into the app to see other things like my plan and which devices are using the most data, but of course there are even more issues with this app, I can’t look at the “Plan” tab because of an “Application error: a client-side exception has occurred”. That’s just the user interface issues, most of the time I can’t even enjoy going online to do anything because of how bad the service is, because of the data cap that we hit in about two days it’s absolutely unusable for the most part but since we live in an area that only satellite internet is available we have to put up with terrible service. I can honestly say go with another ISP for internet if you can, as soon as other ISP’s come to our area we are happily walking away from this awful service. Please at least work on your guy’s user interface for crying out loud, both the router and app! It’s a gross of an experience to use your interfaces!

Nothing but issues not worth the high cost
I’ve had continuously upgraded my plan because I always would run out of prime data speeds, if you can call it that. ViaSat runs up your data usage even when you have nothing connected. Just like another customer mentioned on here earlier, it’s true and they will not admit it’s happening. I’ve called their technical support to find out why a gig of data was added to my usage when nothing was connected overnight. I took screenshots of this happening many times. After getting nowhere on 3 calls and 4 hrs of my time I gave up. They don’t have a network support staff to figure this out, because they don’t want you to know. They tell you you must have had something connected to the network and using data and didn’t know it. Like we are the stupid ones. I’m stuck paying the big bucks to work from home for a long time since I live in a rural area until my contract runs out. Now the latest app update has major issues. After I updated i, all it can do is stay in a loop of building my account and doing it over and over. Deleted the app and reinstalled still broken. Very unhappy client.

The App is fine, It’s the Viasat internet service that’s horrible
Was told that I could stream 2 TVs on the middle package no problem, all month on my high speed data and that I was being connected to a different kind of satellite that wouldn’t bog down when everyone got home after work, school etc. I ended up on streaming 1 TV at night after 9pm until about 11pm. (Can only watch TV when my children are in bed) After 2 weeks every show or movie started buffering non stop. Couldn’t figure out why? Well when I reached out I was told to upgrade my package. So pay more than $110 a month for a couple of hours of tv at night? When I was told I would be able to stream from 2 TVs no problem for that price. I have expressed these issues with this company and how I felt lied to and dupped into using this company just to be locked into a 2yr contract. My advice to anyone looking into this internet service is to just not… you’d have better luck running off your phone’s hotspot.

Worst App/Internet ever!
I have no clue how this app is rated 4.2. Most of the reviews I read were saying things I’m about to say. First the app absolutely is horrible. I can rarely login, I can’t see which devices are using the most internet it always says ‘it’s working on making a list for me’ even if I can see the devices I can’t take the access away from it if I wanted to. Sometimes if I am lucky enough to login it crashes. Next the service. Absolute trash. I would not still have it but it’s the ONLY option I have living where I do. I got this service in 2018 and I’m locked in at 169 a month for 100G a month. That 100 might last us (a family of 4) two weeks? They now offer an option to buy additional data which is nice but by the time it’s all said and done I spend about $230 dollars a month. They say you still have access to internet after high speed runs out but that’s a lie it completely stops and nothing works. And we have next to no cell service so Viasat is our only internet! If you have any other option go with that because Viasat is joke!!!!

Do not fall for this SCAM of an internet service!
This has been the poorest internet service I have ever had to deal with. The most EXPENSIVE, and the LEAST amount of quality. We had not had the service a full month and we were so displeased we tried to just cancel, Pay our installation and month service and be done because we can’t even stream one tv a reasonable amount per day without running out of data for the month, but we were informed that we were locked into a 2 year contract and to break would be almost 400$ ARE YOU SERIOUS! Also we had a smaller package when we lived in a bigger town and we never ran out of data and streamed 2 sometimes 3 TVs at the time and a tablet we never used our entire 60 GB then b now always run out a week early .. it’s RIDICULOUS and customer service? That’s a joke that have zero understanding and do not offer to help in anyway other than to sell you MORE data even though your already paying a ridiculous price per month for like I said very poor quality internet.

So Bad.
This review is mostly for the app itself, because if you have the app you already know how absolutely horrible the WiFi is. The only reason this received 2 stars instead of one is the app, kinda, works. Kinda. It’s good for checking your WiFi usage. But if you’re trying to pay a bill forget about it. We have autopay assigned to an old card, and if we try changing it through the app it simply doesn’t work. The “submit” button for new card information doesn’t do anything. But hey, maybe that’s just my extremely slow overpriced WiFi doing that. Then you think okay maybe I’ll just make a separate payment, nope. Our WiFi bill is roughly $140 (for only 50gb of high speed data, keep in mind most phone plans offer more than that, but that’s besides the point). When you go to submit a new payment, enter whatever amount you want, it will always say “please enter an amount more then $0”. So that doesn’t work either. Horrible app. Even worst WiFi. The fact they can provide you high speed data at all shows it’s possible, so limiting you to 50gb for $140 is insane. They’re taking advantage just because if you’re required to get satellite, that means you don’t live in an area where cable WiFi is available, and are desperate. I can’t explain my dislike for this app, and this company. But I guess overpriced laggy WiFi is better than none.

Face ID, app performance
I'm pretty sure this app used to have Face ID. It certainly doesn’t appear to have it now. Hopefully this can be reinstated, or employed, if I'm wrong about that. Hard to understand why this app takes so long to get loaded and ready for use, even using a fast fiber connection. Any number of other apps load 10x as fast. You can't change the physics of having to transmit 22,000 miles into space and back, but I know it's possible to write an app that performs much better than this. Viasat service itself for us has been pretty much as promised. 15-17 down and 3-5 up, before reaching the data allowance, after which there can be some throttling. The real problem is the latency. You need to wait a few seconds for something to begin loading, but the actual loading is fairly fast. You wait 5-7 seconds for a video to load, but then you can usually watch it with no buffering, at least on a phone. TV not so much. There are faster plans available, but we're already at $96 a month! Viasat has been a lifesaver for us, with the alternative being no internet at all. We are very grateful for it. However if and when Starlink service becomes available, we'll have no choice but to switch. In the mean time, thank you Viasat for being there!!

Problems
I have to go through so many different links, apps, and sites/pages, to do what I need to do it’s frustrating. Setting up a guest link—it doesn’t work, even after spending 2 hours with tech support “chat”! Trying to block unauthorized users is not a simple task either—not even sure I can do that as there are limited options under the help tab and blocking isn’t one. My child needs internet for school and with 3 other college students forced home even the highest level plan does not meet the family needs. I constantly hear that someone has been kicked out of their required class chat due to bandwidth limits. It’s a decent option if there is only 1 person using it for the month, and no gaming or livestreams.

Worst service ever because they can
I am a captive to satellite internet service due to being in a underserved country community. If it is at all possible I don’t know how much worse it could be. Apps don’t work correctly internet speeds are not achieved as advertised and customer service is almost nonexistent is you are lucky enough to get through to a actual human representative. Would give us 1/4 a star if able. Also am getting the ACP discount but it took a additional 3 months for the discount to show up. If customers were that tardy in paying their bills wonder what would happen. Anyway I filed complaint with the FCC again! Wonder what bogus excuse they come up with this time. Have something shame and improve yourselves to a minimum of some type of dependable quality services I entirety.

No major problems
Ok I have had this internet company for about 3 years now. I haven’t had any major problems with my internet or the company it’s self. They are very quick to fix any issues that do arise, being general maintenance of the satellite equipment, or if they need to reboot my system for weather related issues. They are all very respectful. I pay $99 a month for unlimited high speed, and don’t deal with slow speeds at all. I don’t know if I just have a good area, but I definitely would recommend getting this company

Horrible service!!
I have had this service for a little more than a year (I have very limited options where I live). First off they make you sign a 2 year contract because they know they provide horrible internet and no one would ever stay more than a couple of months. I am constantly trying over and over to get my tvs to connect to the internet. The internet goes down multiple times a day. It is definitely down more than it is up no question. And the customer service is made up of people that barely know English and are no help at all ever. 100% do NOT recommend. Try any other internet. This wouldn’t even be worth it if it were free but it’s not it’s $100 a month. Save your money and look elsewhere

Data disappears while modem is unplugged
dissatisfied with this service, we have 2 separate systems but just one dish so I have to unplug one when not in use I keep one for use during off peak times and the other one with higher data plan for use during peak times 7pm to 11pm and I just bought extra data for the 7-11 one and used 8 gb last night on day I bought data and unplugged it at 11 and started using the other system to save the high speed data , just plugged in the modem to use during peak time and it says that half of the 30 gb data is gone! 8 gb of data disappeared from my plan during the night when the modem was unplugged! DO NOT USE this company they are thieves and will steal the data

App is almost useless
The app supposedly helps diagnose issues. It’s very unreliable. I’ve used it when the internet is down, and it will say something different each time, even when used several times in a row. First time, said dish alignment problem, next time (a few seconds later) said everything was fine, after that said modem issue. So I decided to reboot the modem through the app; it did not reboot the modem and I had to unplug it to reboot it. Turned out the reboot got me back online. The issue with unreliable diagnostics has happened before. I use the app to monitor my usage, and that’s all because the rest of it is unreliable.

Terrible
The service is awful. After a few months speed drastically reduced. We pay $160 for unlimited Internet and speed is only decent for about a week. They say after your cap you still have internet access, but we constantly get “no network detected” or “no internet access” messages. When we haven’t hit our cap, we still are plagued by buffering, loading, and connection issues. They always blame it on the devices. The app itself is buggy - doesn’t load all the way, doesn’t respond to clicks. If I had another option for internet, I’d take it. But sadly there’s no other provider in my area that’s any better.

TERRIBLE!
Viasat is the worst internet provider that I’ve ever experienced! They lie to you about the service you will get and after you’re locked into a contract with them, your service is throttled down to almost non existent. I can barely use the service connecting my phone. CANNOT watch a movie without constant buffering. This company is a scam and someone needs to file litigation against them for false advertisement. Sham on you Viasat!!! I’m beyond discussed with this company. On top of that customer service is absolutely terrible. When I’ve called to complain (numerous times) their solution is to upgrade and spend more money, which I did and service DID NOT improve!

Zero stars given
Got Viasat when the pandemic hit because I was teaching online while my 3 children were also trying to do school work. Worked fine for the first year— paid $179 a month to “get the best package”. Now? My package is considered mid grade and I run out of high speed within a week AND NO ONE IS CURRENTLY IN SCHOOL! My kids are gone most of the time and I rarely get online other than shopping. There’s no way we can go through all of the high speed when we never even try to stream movies. In order to upgrade to the new “best package” I’d have to spend $350 a month. Viasat is a rip off and their customer service is even worse!

Worst service out there.
You will have access to your account online for the first 3 months of service. After that the app and website will tell you the app/site is down and they working on it. “This lasts for months and you can’t never access your account again” The service itself is even worse. After your priority data. Your speed it should be 1 to 3 mbps but you won’t get nothing pass 0.25mbps. They will tell you you use the priority data so that’s what it is and will go around and around about it but will not honor the 1 to 3 mbps speed you should have for the rest of cycle. It just gets worse and worse…
I year ago when I signed up for service this app was useful. I could easily see everyone in my network and know who was using data and who wasn’t. Since then the app has been updated into complete worthlessness. It now tells me virtually nothing and then expects me to pay them even more money for the information they used to give me in the app. Now with this new version, I can’t even login or even re-register my account because it tells me my account doesn’t exist. Then it tells me that I have 4 more tries before I am LOCKED OUT. I say… LOCKED OUT OF WHAT? Unbelievable…

Crappy app & Internet
I haven’t got this app to work in a year and I’ve have contacted them so many times and they do nothing. I always use this app to pay my bill but I can’t anymore. It takes four or five days to download something like a book on my kindle or a movie or even an app. Very frustrating because I contacted them many times about the app not working and they do nothing it’s like they don’t care. My Internet shuts off on its own I have to keep unplugging it and plug it back in.I pay over $100 for Internet service a month and it should work right…..🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Should not have a business license
If you want to overpay and get lied to get Viasat. Company will lie straight to your face to get you to sign a long 2 year contract. They will tell you their service can meet your expectations but in reality. All your gonna get is blurry results. Your phones data will be faster then the Wi-Fi. Then when you go to cancel because they lied. They will again lie to you and say your account is closed. Yet they won’t close it. Also they will not waive their cancellation fees even though if they were upfront and honest you would never have signed with them. Worst Wi-Fi company imaginable.

Don’t waste your money
ViaSat is the worse waste of money ever and the service is way over priced and horrible. When we first had the system installed we would get speeds of 50mbs a second for the first few days and once the free cancellation period was over we are lucky to see speeds of 5mbs let alone ever getting close to what the avg speed we pay for is. Don’t waste your money with ViaSat they will be out of business once star net is up and running. DSL from the phone company would be a better option if you can get it or even speed the money on a cell booster for your house and just run off it.

Do Not Get Internet with them
This is the worst internet company ever. There internet doesn’t work. It take more time to load than you can actually used the internet & there prices are ridiculous they wanted to give me 75mbps for $115 dlr & it doesn’t even load. I called in the 2 day of having this internet to cancel service & they said i had to pay $360 cancelation fee & that in the contract it says that there service is not a guaranteed that it will work in some areas that’s ridiculous. In my opinion don’t waste your time & money with this company.

I have 2 devices hooked to my internet (I’m the only one living here) my phone and iPad I don’t play games I look at face book and read emails and that’s only done for a brief moment I’m out of high speed data by 8 days after it has renewed! This service is no good run from this find a different service! I’ve only had Viasat for 8 months and it’s been like this every month! I’m so sorry for getting this service(if that’s what you want to call it) when my contract is up I will be switching….this is the worst internet company anyone could have…

As many of the reviews I’m reading, the app and service is full of it. You have no idea what you’re paying until it comes out of your account. I’ve been with Viasat for almost 2 years (can not wait for my contract to end soon) I’ve had the most expensive plan down to the cheapest plan and it seems crazy but since I said forget it and went to the cheapest plan I’ve been getting the best service. (Still horrible.) May 2022 can not come soon enough!

I agree with the other reviews about feeling duped. The service itself is terrible and unreliable, and if you have any issue the recommendation is to upgrade. You are at the mercy of how ‘many people in your area’ are utilizing the network. I thought this was a satellite-based service? Network traffic shouldn’t really be an issue. When you are in a situation in which your options are limited, it is easy for a company like this to take advantage, and they do. I would never recommend to anyone.

Pointless
Have literally never been able to log in to my account, either online or via this app. I’ve changed passwords, contacted customer service. Customer service told me they’ve been doing “web improvements” for the last week and when I indicated I hadn’t been able to log in for 3 months, they revised their response and said “oh yeah, improvements have been going on for months”. Joke of a service and company. If it wasn’t the only option I would have been gone a long time ago.

My viashield app always says my tv is using data when it is NOT connected It also had 3 extra devices using data that I do not have I changed the password and they were removed but that same night I had another unknown device using my data. I run out of data 2-3 weeks into my monthly billing cycle and refuse to purchase more data. As soon as another company is available in my neighborhood I am leaving this company! I better stop now or I may run out of data!!

Horrible
This is such a rip off. I pay $180 per month and can only stream one tv during the day and at night nothing. The speed works fine for about 5 or 6 days then the rest of the month completely slow. For that price they should keep it fast all month long. This is the worst service I have used since the satellites for tvs use to be in trees. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. Go and buy a regular antenna for your tv or pay the extra on your cell phone to use hot spot!!!

A waste of money
When I called, I asked for a plan for my three televisions and two video games. The internet was so mediocre that I had to disconnect all my devices to watch Netflix on one of my TVs so it wouldn't stop while watching my show. I called to have the problem resolved, and they told me to pay money for a faster plan. I spent more, and it was the same thing. They didn't fix anything. I only had it for a month, and to cancel it, I had to pay $360 for the contract of two years. As I said, WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!!

Internet service
It is sad that after a year and a half that my internet isn’t working and have to have a tech come out and see if it is the modem and if it is I am changing service. Also sad that I am close enough to a town and can not get better internet. Unlimited should be unlimited not oh we are going to slow you down when you meet a determined amount of data. That is not unlimited when a business gets UNLIMITED all the time no matter what amount of data they use.

Terrible service & not worth the $
I was told that my dad could stream movies all day and that I could also use their service for my lap top, computer and iPhone. That was a lie. My dad has to stream during the night because it buffers during the day and once he reaches his data limit, it doesn’t slow down, it quits working. If he’s streaming, other devices cause his streaming to buffer. Im locked into a two year contract too. I’m not happy and I will not pay anything more, nor will I renew w them.

Home devices on Viasat Shield
They give you a list of devices on your internet but will not tell you what they are. They force you to try to look up every one by a MAC address which is nearly impossible to find every one. In plain ENGLISH tell us which of our devices are being used for data !! Truth in advertising is a right. I guess you need to contact the FCC for an answer to a simple problem !! They will find out why we are being denied this information!!

App won’t load
The internet isn’t bad at all considering I live in a rural area and can only get satellite internet out here, however, the app is not loading anything just a white screen. The price is also ridiculous for the service. I went from paying $65 for the basic package that would get used within a weeks time to paying about $120 for the same package after three months.

App as bad as Viasat service
I am paying $193/month for nothing. Paid for a new month yesterday. Unable to access internet/WiFi. Supposed to work from home-nope can’t do it. Clear sky-no rain or storms. The app only gives me a home page which shows a 0 balance and shows that 2.2 GB have been used! Yesterday it said .9 GB used. How can 2.2GB be used overnight? Unlimited plan is not and viasat says I have their max plan so I can’t upgrade. App gives me absolutely NO information and the wheel goes round and round. I have been scammed.

Absolutely terrible in every aspect, extremely expensive for absolutely garbage internet speed, low high speed data amounts, and the most incompetent customer service agents I’ve ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I’m a cool, calm, and collected guy, but I can only take so much incompetence. Constant problems with billing and being overcharged. Worst internet company I’ve ever had by FAR. Look into other options, save money and get better results all around.

This app, like the service itself, is total garbage.
This whole company is borderline scam. They charge enormous fees and can’t explain data usage. App is riddled with errors on devices being used. The company itself only sets up shop in moe rural areas with no competition so they have practical monopoly. Avoid if you can but sadly may be stuck with them if you want any internet. Horrendous customer service too btw. Be prepared to wait for hours for help.

Stop calling the plan “unlimited”
To call any plan unlimited on Viasat is false advertising. I stream less than 30 minutes a day. In less than two weeks, I was told that I had used all of my data and had to purchase more. This was with the top plan! I changed to the cheapest plan now, since they’re ALL the same!!I’m dropping this service like a bad habit as soon as cable is connected in this area next month.

Very outdated
This app is among the worst I’ve ever reviewed. Really deserves only 1/2 star. It doesn’t even re-orient. It’s written for a small phone about 10 years ago...before the advent of IPADs I think. It can’t switch from portrait to landscape and it takes forever to load. It takes at least 30-40 seconds before you get where you need then only gives you very basic info. But given VIASAT is a mediocre internet service provider I suppose that’s understandable.

App is bad since upgrade
Ever since y’all up dated and upgraded the app I have not been able to long into my account. This is very inconvenient. I can’t find out how much data I have and any other things. Please just bring the old app back or fix this new one cause I am tired of not being able to log into my account

Worst internet service ever!!!
If I could give this app a negative number I would. They over charge you for your data so that you have used up your maximum 100 in just days. Then you have NO INTERNET WHATSOEVER for the rest of the month. And there’s no other service in my area. And I pay a lot of money for this service every month. Don’t waste your money or your time. Especially your patience!!!!
