I think the Namely app is great! It is very helpful for an HR professional on the go. The admin user can look up contact in for for employees for anywhere which would come in handy in an emergency situation or if you just need to get a hold of someone. It makes requesting time off easy by allowing employees to do this from their phone. This makes request and approvals more efficient. The interface is modern and user friendly. Namely is developing new utilities for their platform continuously so I hope that capabilities like seeing your pay slips through the app are not far behind!
I've been using the app for about 7 months now. I utilize it primarily to keep track of time off requests and even last minute submissions that must be reviewed and approved in order to allocate coverage on those days we may need the extra headcount. Even when I'm not in office, it's a good tool to keep myself in loop of what my team's availability is like and what kind of coverage to expect per day.
As all of Namely's products are, this app is easy to use. I really like the directory. I can quickly look up a team member I need to contact, even faster than I can on the site. The app seems suited well for items that are more relevant to look up quickly and that are fast and simple to complete. It seems well thought through!
Really user-friendly, slick version of the web app. Getting access to my colleagues profiles and one click call, text, email functionality. I use the “Offices” feature whenever I visit another one of our locations and can’t remember the address. The Paystubs + visual history view is great!
As an HR professional, I really like using the app. It’s very responsive and easy to use. Since I am constantly in meetings and on the go, I find it much easier to pull up information on my phone than try to login via my Laptop. It’s make my Life much easier when stopped randomly in the halls or in meetings. Overall it’s a very good app.
The Namely app is very user friendly and very easy to navigate for my needs. I’m able to view my time offs, keep up with the latest employee updates and view my paystubs.

Need to set a goal, write up reviews, or at very least see pending tasks? Well friend, you’re completely out of luck. Looking to live on a company message board that no one uses? Boy, now we’re talking. Looking for a company contact directory you probably have duplicated on your phone. This app has got you covered in spades. If the idea was to give users a simple experience utilizing namely, nice try, but I think you left all the useful functions out.
I get it. You’re a startup. But if you don’t have a responsive website *and* your app doesn’t do everything the desktop website does, then I have a bad experience. You just got 60 mil in August; peel 1 off and have a team build one or the other. See you in 5 months.
All other apps and browser working - but this amazing app apparently cannot connect to the internet. Someone would hope they would have a test to check if the app can connect to the www - unless, they are moving to enterprise software. After few days, it can login but then logs out automatically for no reason while using the app - such a bad app. I would not recommend this to anyone or any organization.
While there are number of things you can do fluently on the Namely app, comparable to the desk top version. One of the more necessary things you log in to do is adjust your time sheets. There isn’t an option for that in the app, that I’ve been able to find. This detail forces me to give the app an overall lower rating.
The app itself is very nice, clean, and I haven’t experienced any bugs while using it! However, I do think some additional features could be added to make it more useful, such as access to time tracking, payroll, and documents.
Not only is this Namely system overly complicated in general, but the app has virtually nothing on it. Not even a time clock. That’s a whole separate app that you have taking up even more space that could have been used elsewhere. You’re trying too hard, Namely. We (virtually all of my coworkers and I) are trying to get HR to drop this system and return to the previous system.
The app is cool because you can set some minor things up but at the end of the day most of the things that need to be done can only be accessed through the web portal. So for example the trying to access Timecard to punch in or out can’t be done on the app. Same thing with seeing your paystub or checking your benefits. So the app could be more useful.
I like the app, it’s great, easy to use, and hardly any issues. One issue is, I’m having problems login via a new company’s domain. I switched from one company to another. Both use namely. I used the same email for both logins, but it won’t let me log into the app as it says my token is no longer active. This is true for the old company, but not the new one. I tried deleting and re-downloading the app, making sure I only use the new company’s site, but no luck. No issues when using the internet to login, only issues with the app. Please fix. 🙂
Seriously this app has been out for a long time now and has had plenty of updates so why won’t you add the time sheet feature!? Why won’t you add the punch in/punch out feature?! Besides requesting time off and looking for contact information for people in my company I don’t care about this app is pretty much useless! What is the point of a time keeping app that has no time keeping features?????
A great summary of some things from the full website, but it’s mind blowing that you can’t manage time-related functions. Clocking in/out, managing timesheet, and requesting time off are easily the most go-to tasks using an HR website for your work day.
App is complete trash. It won’t allow you to access the most essential features such as timesheet and calendar, those aren’t even an options on this app. The website is much better it allows you to access the entire site instead of a dumbed down mobile version that looks like it was created in 2006..such a waste ..only gets 1⭐️ because I can’t give it 0
The app is user friend - I like that I can have access to coworkers contact information through the directory (especially when traveling). I love that I can request PTO right from the app so if I'm home sick I don't have to VPN into an internal system.
Not sure if it’s the app or just what my employer failed to notify me of on it. I can literally do all of this at work and the only thing actually useful is viewing the pto acquired. As far as requesting it, it doesn’t work or the company doesn’t allow it but the options are there so then you get denied but anyway waste of time and space to even download.
I have been on multiple HR platforms in my career and this is superior to all of them. Most of the old legacy systems like ADP or some PEO’s are built on technology that’s 20 years old.
After seeing 4 years worth of this app, I am confident this is the best release to date! PTO is a breeze. Directory has great UX. Call/text function is seamless. Great work!
Whenever I want to log in to my timesheets from the app, I have to sign in every single time. Regardless of telling it to remember my device… Very annoying and counterproductive.
So little can be done that it’s barely worth having on my ‘phone. And even when I’ve been emailed that I can now sign up for benefits, it says there are NONE AVAILABLE! What a waste…
I like this app when it works, which is rare. It always shuts down, says “no internet connection” when I’m on WiFi, and has been a general headache. I rarely write reviews but am so frustrated with namely I felt the need to let the people who read these App Store reviews this girl isn’t pleased. Update: still hate this app. Closes EVERYTIME I OPEN IT
On the app you have to login in every time you open the timesheets. This needs to be changed to face recognition or something a little easier to login with.
Finding anything on here is difficult and unnecessarily laden with steps. In is a minimum six step process just to clock in, and that assumes everything loads the first time (or two). The synch with okta isnt smooth, and there and links that lead to dead ends.
Haven’t been able to use the app in over 3 weeks. Automatically shuts down immediately after signing in. Very frustrating when trying to approve people’s time off. Are you ever gonna fix this or just slowly fade away?
There are obvious bugs most annoying that blocks me is export contact clears the company name. Contacted support they responded that the issue will be fixed in the next release. Now multiple releases later still not fixed. Sorry Namely we are switching to a different provider that listens.
Unfortunately for me, while I can log in and see the correct info on the landing page, none of the menu items work. Tapping them does nothing. I’ve deleted and reinstalled and still nothing.
...and absolutely forget about using their website on a mobile device. Their UX is the worst I have ever dealt with and their handling of profile security will make you feel like your identity could be stolen at any minute.
The app isnt useful for our employee-base as is. Viewing paychecks and entering time are the two most important things user want to do ‘on the go’...in an app format.
The app lacks an ipad version to use the larger screen. For an ipad users and cases, portrait mode is almost never used. The app needs a landscape mode.
