This was a great alternative when I momentarily lost my remote to my projector. It’s responsive and has many modes, though I never got used to anything other than the virtual remote buttons. In virtual remote mode, it’s super responsive and the haptic feedback is great, however I would have liked if they retained the size and shape of the physical remote so that my muscle memory can be retained. I can see there are lots of potential for this app, eg, mirroring my apps on the projector and launching straight into them for eg. So please keep working on it and making it better!
I’ve been using this app for over a year and the latest update has made it worse. On Netflix, for example, I can no longer scroll down through the episodes with the mouse to select the episode you want. Instead, I have to click on an episode I’ve already watched and then click the button that shows other episodes and there I can scroll to find the one I actually wanted to watch in the first place. It’s only a mild inconvenience but I’ve never had this problem with past versions. It also disconnects from the projector every time you close the app or your phone screen goes to sleep, or if you haven’t used it in the last minute. It takes a good 5-10 seconds for the app to open and refresh its connection with the projector which interrupts the flow of presentations. I liked past versions much better. This update has brought the functionality of the app backwards.
Opens up a world of flexibility to control your Nebula Device.
The convenience of being able to take control of my projector via a mobile phone app is invaluable. Most often, I use my projector outdoors and even more often I travel and use in different locations. I sometimes forget to pack the manufacturer remote. This is where this app stands in the gap. The control selections are just enough to give you full use of your device. I also like the fact the you are able to use the app without logging into or setting up a nebula account. I highly recommend this app and look forward for more features/buttons to be added to it in order to up its convenience level.
This app gives you only one way to get help trouble shooting and that is the robot chat. It won’t connect you with anyone and if you try to give a feedback through email it won’t connect you there. I really love my nebula but I just want to try and watch Disney plus through this device but it seems impossible to reach anyone to get help to set it up. I still give it 4 stars just because I love the quality of my nebula and some tricks that this app can provide but it certainly needs a lot of improvements.
Changed to 3 stars from 5 because I was struggling to connect. App took forever only to connect and disconnect constantly. Finally figured out that connecting to Bluetooth speaker broke everything. Deleted the nebula from Bluetooth devices and it worked great again. If a new update resolves this I will update the rating again. You can do way more with the app than the remote so I hope this gets fixed or I won’t be able to use the Bluetooth speaker.
This app is helpful because it allows use of the projector with more dexterity (in some cases) than the remote that it automatically comes with. That being said, the phone keyboard function only works when I use prime video and nothing else (it doesn’t work with any of the other apps on the projector). Additionally I think it’s missing a “sleep timer” function so you can set it to turn off in 30 minutes or an hour. The projector battery only lasts 4 hours so I would like to have a sleep timer function to have it turn off in case I dose off.
Really nice app. One missing and super helpful feature would be to have a way to see remaining battery life from this app. Some apps, like Netflix don’t show it without exiting, so being able to check from the phone would be super useful! Also would be nice to have some media buttons. Dragging the cursor to the Netflix play/pause button is a bit tedious.
Volume is low on some apps (Netflix) but not others
Let me be clear that the speaker and device itself are excellent. The volume is fantastic. So why is it, that when I use certain apps such as Netflix, the volume is much softer than say...YouTube. When I have company, Netflix is impossibly low. I even purchased external speakers which have made the movie experience even better for most apps, but is still soft on apps like Netflix. Since the built in speaker and external speakers are capable of being extremely loud on many of the streaming services, it should be equalized for all. Please fix this. It does not do your device justice.
The app was decent, then bam a new update. They made the touch area on the screen larger, making you have to move your fingers further across the screen to select what you desire. But the worst is the volume. For some reason, the projector has two different volume outputs. The remote controls the main volume, but you need the app to control the second volume. So in netflix, if you want to control the volume the remote won’t work, you need the app or to manually touch the projector. So what’s the big deal? Just use the app. Well, after this update the app volume no longer works, its absolutely ridiculous for something at this price point. You aren’t able to lower the volume past 70%, and it takes numerous clicks to adjust the little you can. Not sure who thought of this change, it’s not improved anything but made it more difficult and frustrating for users.
I can’t even log into Disney plus. There’s no way to even select the log in button with how terrible the remote functionality is. I used to be able to, but when I updated the Disney plus app on the projector it logged me out and I can’t even log in. I wish we could see a mouse on the screen and that it would actually be able to reach the buttons we need. This app has made it impossible to watch half the shows i used to be able to.
Our projector ran great, everyone in house could use it with a different device thru Bluetooth to run our only tv and computer screen source, Nebula projector. We’re rural, off grid with phone hot spots. Now with the update, it stupidly requires the remote to be on a WiFi network AND the same as the projector, now NO ONE CAN USE IT. Our WiFi can only handle one device, it took us a year to find the a great system that was perfect. Why can’t engineers just leaves software that works alone long enough to get at least six months of decent use out of if a device. Greediness and need to complete ruins anything good.
Controls the nebula devices alright. Seems a little clunky and buggy at times, but is still certainly useable. I end up using the physical remote more often than not though, but glad to have this as an option.
With there was a way to see battery life on all screens. Also, something that would be super helpful for future updates would be to create some better option for scaling the screen to fit the screen you are working with. There doesn’t seem to be a way vs bringing it closer or father away.
The update is awesome. I can finally use the Crunchyroll app. Before I would have to log into Chrome and log in there which was okay. It just takes longer and sometimes lag. All of the apps work perfectly now. I love my projector and the nebula app.
“It is so bad I want to give you a 0 but I can’t so I give you a 1” -Tyra Banks ⭐️ On a real note this app is absolutely horrible! I cant scroll through Netflix or any other app with out constant “receiver has stopped” notifications popping up causing me to close out the app and open it again. The projector is amazing so why downgrade and play yourself with this horrible app? Also why give a remote that doesn’t work for the apps? Please fix this issue soon!
I love the practicality of this projector and the quality is great, my concerns are more with the viability of the app usage and the ability to stream via WiFi. I have a high speed Comcast and it fails to follow through at times
Works fairly well but a little clunky. Seems odd with that you have to use the app remote to access your online video application with the Nebula Capsule instead of the physical remote. I suggest if your gonna provide a physical remote, at least make sure it can be used complete with all the device applications
Great product but can’t watch movies I purchased on iTunes
Just like the title says. When I try to stream my movies to this amazing little projector I get a notice that they are DRM protected and can’t be viewed on this device. Disappointing but I’m getting used to it. Thanks apple for being jerks.
This app works seamlessly with the nebula projector. Never fails to instantly connect. Always works flawlessly. And the apps on the device also work perfectly and are intuitively controllable from the iPhone app. Far exceeded my expectations.
Version 1.25 slow & sluggish with Nebula Capsule II
Using on iPhone SE. The mouse has a noticeable delay from the previous version. The controller lags as well but not as noticeable in comparison to the mouse. Switching to the keyboard to search for new Apps to install does not register the new text immediately like the previous version. Also, what happened to the option to power off the device from the app?
It worked fine until the most recent update a week ago. Now, whenever I try to use the app, my 1st gen Nebula Capsule shows up at the connection page but will not actually connect. It just runs the little connecting graphic for a few seconds and then stops. Shame too because controlling it off my phone was one of the device’s better features.
Need a night mode setting and use iphones volume buttons
Every time I use the app it’s with the lights off in order to get best picture on the projector. The app creates too much white light. Please make a night mode setting. Also the touch screen volume buttons are annoying to use. It’d be nice to be able to use the iPhone side volume buttons to control
I own the Mars 3 and I simply love it. It is the most complete protable projector on the market. I watched a live Premier League game in the desert. What more can you ask for
I got the nebula Mars 2 pro, very happy with it so far. Daytime viewing is doable, but might time is perfect. The app works surprisingly well as a remote and I’m happy with the option to use it as such. Great product
Installed the app... connected via Bluetooth... rebooted my new nebula cosmos max... restarted Bluetooth and reconnected multiple times (verified from settings one my iPhone 10 and the cosmos max, but the app is stuck wanting to add device. Im tired of trying and shouldn’t have to wait for a support rep to reply. I’ll likely delete this and with suffer through the old school remote or return this device. What a waistband time!
After the update a few months ago, my Nebula just won’t connect to my phone anymore. I’ve tried everything. But of course, there’s no way to contact anyone for actual help and the physical remote doesn’t work with most of the apps on the device. I would save your money and buy a more usable projector than you can actually control.
App works great, it will automatically connect when opened. They should and will probably add more features to the app to make the experience even better than it is.
Latest update has made it very glitchy. An extra step to lower the volume, multiple people can’t use the app or it gets glitched, and the worst thing is it somehow gets glitched and I can’t lower the volume past 70%. This app was flawless before the update. Now it’s frustrating.
The newest update has completely disabled 2 finger scrolling for me, and if I leave the cursor inactive for any amount of time, it disappears then I have to switch back to my remote
Latest update killed the volume adjustment through the app if on an HDMI source. You have to go to the Home Screen to adjust the volume and have it take. Otherwise, it appears that the volume is being adjusted on the app and on the on screen display, but it is not.
App could be more than just mouse and keyboard. App could control the device entirely, like showing list of installed apps, letting me trigger apps on projector from my cell phone etc.
App doesn’t connect to projector at all. Worked for about 5 minutes but hasn’t worked since. Reset everything. And I dare anyone to contact their customer support. Pretty much doesn’t exist. Their “live chat” is literally a bot that spits out random faqs. The software is horrible. A huge waste. These 5 star ratings are highly suspect
After the latest update this app has worsened. It rarely connects to my Nebula, takes exceedingly long to connect when it does, completely closes out instantly if I leave the app, now I have to go into my Bluetooth settings first and then go into the app to connect. But.......it looks cool I guess.
Cannot seem to make capsule communicate with the app using iPhone. I have an adapter and can screen cast. But it doesn’t always function. Without a physical remote I cannot select or add an app.
Can’t connect to my Capsule II on iOS 14, even after rebooting, uninstalling, re-installing. Looks like it hasn’t been updated to use the new permission to search for devices on the network. Very disappointing as I can’t even watch Netflix on it without phone control.
No longer connects to Capsule II. Needs an update for iOS 14; likely the new “connect to other devices on network” prompt. Please fix. Otherwise, on iOS 13, this app is great. The only easy way to control Netflix on Capsule II.
Don’t buy there products I bought mars pro, just after warranty it stopped working, they offered me a discount to purchase another and that one broke down. These products expire after their warranty.
My husband and I both can’t get the app to work on either of our phones. The app automatically updated and now we can’t get it to connect to the Nebula Mars II. Before the update, it worked perfectly. Please fix it!!!!
I’m not sure if it’s a Disney issue or a Nebula issue, but the Disney app wants you to update and the nebula store says you are current - so it doesn’t work. Netflix is fine tho.
New update doesn't allow me to see more than the first 5 episodes of a Netflix show. I'm not able to scroll down to see other episodes in either mouse or controller mode. This was working last week! Please fix.
Nebula Connect works together with your Nebula smart projector or soundbar. You can seamlessly control your Nebula device via the touchpad, virtual keyboard, and function buttons. Feel free to contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions.
