I was able to make a payment easily, for an advance date. This is a nightmare on some web sites, let alone apps. I logged in with existing NYSEG web info and didn't have to create another account, which also made it simple to use. The format was clean as well. Face ID was not complicated and they automatically put asked if I wanted to log in via FI in the app. This is another option that isn't smooth in other apps. I love the idea of being alerted about power shortages in my area via texts, which was suggested. I will definitely use it again. Please consider adding allowing the set-up of budget billing and a chat feature, if not already an option.
You rip us off every month, can you at least give us a good app to do it on?
Why do we have to sign up for auto pay to view our billing history? You’re a monopoly you’re gonna get your money or we get to sit in the dark so let us view our billing history. You only come out to read the meters half the time it needs to be done, every time the wind blows over 2 miles an hour the power goes out but not before it kicks on and off a bunch of times power surging are meters costing us even more money for the initial start up of every appliance in our house.(This happens almost once a month) why don’t you spend a little money and start burying some of these powerlines and maybe create a job or two. You bleed the people of New York dry and do very little to provide A quality service. The reason I’m writing this review is because I seen the ad for donations from your customers for solar equipment. I don’t believe in karma but I got my fingers crossed right now. I hope nobody’s dumb enough to send you money to help you purchase equipment to charge us to use. How do you sleep at night. I hope someday you have to struggle like the rest of us do, paycheck to paycheck choosing light over food sometimes. Shame on you, shame on you. Make no mistake, my judgment Weighs very little to the one that really counts.
The billing system is not very reliable. Six months in a row it said that the account was current. Whaaat??? I paid 500 on my account in September, just to be safe. Then I got a bill for 700ish! So I paid that as well on 10/04. I am retired and on a fixed income. Last week around 10/10 I checked in and saw that I had a credit balance of 272!! That’s right -$272!!! Tonight 10/17 I checked again and now I owe another 470+. I am glad that I’m not stupid and paid on the account even though it said “0” but what about people who are not paying attention?? All of a sudden they don’t have enough money to pay a huge bill and get shut off. This is bs……..
Well, I’m not a big social media person, nor am I a big app user but one of my favorites is Nyseg. It’s quick it’s easy it’s convenient, and for someone who doesn’t want to get involved in anything that’s cumbersome or not convenient that’s a big compliment. I highly recommend using NYSEG app. I haven’t found anyone who’s made it easier so far. So if you want convenience, reliability, and an app that gives you everything at your fingertips then I really recommend you get NYSEG’s app for your phone m!
This criminal operation has the worst app I have ever used. Zero. Zero functions work. It reports incorrect billing amounts. Any time you hit ANY button it comes back after a long wait with an error “We apologize, we are experiencing a technical error.” You cannot change any settings. Turning off ebilling is an infinite loop. NYSEG has been under investigation for most of 2022. The NY Department of Public Service is now expanding their investigations. I was only able to pay my bill by phone and even that was a giant hassle. Their app and website are a mess. Their entire organization is clearly falling apart. There is a public hearing on these bozos in March. I’ll be there and I’m writing letters to our State Attorney General. This place needs to be put down. Even if the app magically worked perfectly it is still plumbed to the most feculent and vile entirety I have ever been forced to do business with.
This app has double charged me and then i got charged a bank fee of 20$ bc it tried to charge me twice! Another time it said it was processing the payment but it NEVER went through so i ended up with a late fee the following month for no reason. Its likely right now i am going to get a late fee again for the same reason bc it has been processing my payment for multiple days! This app is garbage and needs major improvement. It has a lot of potential and it is extremely convenient to be able to pay it via phone but it needs to not get stuck processing and u should be able to make the payments happen immediately and not have to “schedule” it and then it just not go through or be stuck pending/processing
The autopay feature doesn’t work. They don’t have any option to delete an old card, when you put in a new card number and select it for your autopay, it will reset to the old card number. Therefore there’s no point to the autopay at all because you have to log on to pay the bill anyways. Or you’ll be hit with late charges assuming the method you chose will actually stay active. I have had nothing but problems trying to pay my bill with this company since I started service with them. Whether it be their poorly designed app, the app not working, their phones being overloaded and having to wait hours to talk to someone. It’s honestly embarrassing for a company of this size. An absolute joke.
The NYSEG application makes account management easier. So, why not download and make your account management easier, like viewing and paying for your usage online or checking on restoration information during a power outage? You’re not using this app, download it and make life a little bit simpler. What do you have to lose?
Hello good afternoon I’ve been using app since I got the account with you guys that was working good I like it give me updates on my payment and everything but from last two months I unable to use the app every time my phone is up-to-date App is up-to-date I’m use iPhone what’s the reason it doesn’t work I even tried couple times delete an app and reload it still doesn’t work I put in my ID and password and it doesn’t login and the log in part doesn’t even highlight ordered me to press login and it just don’t do nothing For that reason I would give it only one star even you guys update the app in last two months twice and the problem didn’t go away
Every time I see an update I hope it’s to fix one of the many issues with the app. There’s no instant login, the bills don’t populate or notifications don’t come when to submit readings to list a couple basic issues. I still see only 1 bill from March and it’s September but have gotten paper ones. The meter readings don’t work most the time when you submit. Only decent feature is the outage map that shows you exactly what’s going on. The app is so poor that at that point you may as well opt for text messages and check the website for outages instead. I’ve been patient for fixes and it doesn’t seem to have improved so it’s getting deleted.
If you can manage to log in then the app is fine for what it is. The log-in screen freezes with a spinning icon at least 50% of the time though which prevents you from entering your email or password. After a few minutes it shows an "oops, something went wrong" message, rendering the app useless. A minor inconvenience for someone trying to pay their bill, but a major one for someone without power and limited service trying to check the outages in their area.
You have zero account access unless you agree to ebills. You cannot see statements, payments, account history without signing up for ebills. I made a payment online and could not figure out why it didn’t come out of my bank. The customer service rep told me the payment was cancelled thirty minutes after I made it most likely because I took my account off of ebill. I could not believe it. They cancelled an online payment because I changed my billing method!! I wish we had more utility choices because NYSEG would be scrambling to keep its customers. Their app is not at all user friendly.
Excellent, simple and easy to use interface for this app. It has no lag and runs like a charm. Only input would be an easier method to add credit card/debit card details without taking us to an internet webpage for security. It’s better to have it within the app. Other than excellent job!
Ok, I’m a landlord with several apts, all with their own NYSEG accounts. Before the app, trying to pay my bills every month online was SUCH a nightmare. None of my personal or payment info could be stored so I had to enter it every single time I paid all four accounts every month. It’s such a relief to finally have a decent app to use. Thank you, NYSEG!!!
If we could choose a different company we would. First we had to pay the previous owners bills. Then they never came to read our meter for almost a year and charged us a ridiculous amount of money. Then we go back and forth over a bill discrepancy since they apparently don’t look for when a customer sends in a meter read over the course of 4 MONTHS. Would never recommend to anyone else. It’s worse when an entire town doesn’t want the service but is forced to use it.
This by far is the easiest way to see your entire account in just a few seconds. Past payment amounts and balance budgeting is just as easy to see Making payments is a breeze! The power outages tab makes it easy to see and report n your area A+ in my book
The app is the easiest way to make a payment, check your history or anything else you may need! It sure beats mailing out my payment or calling over the phone. Takes about 5 seconds compared to a 30 minute phone call or 15 minute ride to the post office.
App can be very slow. Also takes forever to process payments and they also don’t show in system for a while so it makes you wonder for days if you even did it right and why doesn’t it at least show processing. I’ve double paid my bill on a few occasions because after a week I was worried I messed up and was gonna be late
The NYSEG app often fails to show an accurate balance, and the due date is sometime wrong when compared to the data on the website. Plus, the app goes offline for a week during ‘system upgrades’ making it impossible to make a payments online during that period. What kind of company takes a critical system offline for an extended period? A monopoly that doesn’t care about customers.
They are very good at helping with budget planning and service calls One thing I do hate is the constant answering machine message that says for faster reporting of outages go online Excuse me but can not go online or use newer phones to notify of an outage We have to hook up our rotary phone to call it in
Just had my power go out - downloaded App and reported it - then saw a map of all the outages and could zoom in and see info down to the street level. Told me 10 customers on my street and all 10 were out of power and gave an estimate when would be back on. Pretty impressed!!
The bills are confusing, misleading and don’t equal auto payment amounts. Each bill has 5 different dates on it to confuse you further (bill date, statement date, service from date, service to date, payment date). At this point t (after 10 months) it seems deliberate as it’s never been fixed despite issues being flagged with NYSEG. The app UI is clunky and not greatly intuitive, but it’s better than the desktop website. Good luck.
I downloaded this app because I was having issues with their website on my computer. I signed into the app and authorized FaceID. While setting up notifications it appeared as though it wasn’t saving my options. So that was confusing. I then closed out the app and went to go back in to see if they saved and now I can’t even get past the login screen. No message or anything. Does anyone test these things before they put them out there for public use?
Found out after receiving a “late payment” email from NYSEG that Autopay does not work. Checked all autopay details (“ You're currently enrolled in AutoPay Any changes made to the details below will take affect with your next payment”) and all card details were correct, but the app was not charging the card and hadn’t for months! The app also does not allow bill pay or viewing: “Bill unavailable We are having trouble retrieving your bill. The bill may be no longer available or might have failed to download. Please try again.” When I finally found a workaround to pay using the stored card details (double checked, they’re correct), I received a confirmation number, but so far my card hasn’t been charged. It’s as if the app developers don’t want NYSEG to get paid!
This app makes managing my NYSEG account a breeze! You can quickly login with faceID, bills are readily accessible and load within a second. You can even set up alerts, view outage information, and make payments online. You can also send an email to NYSEG for personalized assistance — their email support team is always responsive and thorough. Great job, NYSEG!
I like the fact that they made improvement to the app over time. For example, making payment is now easier to do through the app. The outage feature works nicely as well.
I’ve spent a full five minutes trying to pay my bill (with my phone) using the website. This app takes me 20 seconds at most and is very easy to use for other services, as well. I highly recommend!
This app is very convenient to get through. Just one click and you can get ahold of someone in an emergency about a gas problem, paying your bill, and also getting customer service. I would recommend this app to anyone.
Much functionality has been added to make payments easier. App doesn’t fit the screen of my phone and it won’t scroll up or down to get to the part not visible. Some of the buttons are barely visible and it is difficult to pres them
I have autopay activated but for the second month in a row I’ve received a late payment warning and I have the money to pay for it. Adding my bank debit card doesn’t work either unless it’s pinless. Other than that, I appreciate the ease of being able to track my past bills and see upcoming totals, along with emails from NYSEG on how to save energy and money.
I really come to appreciate this app. I’m able to see outages, report outages and communicate with my energy provider. Very simple to use, great options and always being updated with any new information and features. I recommend this app.
When the app first came out it was clunky and hard to pay the bill. With an update that has all changed and very easy to pay your bill or see past payments.
Two items that need to be updated. One is when paying your bill through the app it doesn’t allow you to change the payment date. It’s set on pay immediately. The second issue I have is during a power outage the updates are not timely and doesn’t give a reason for the outage. Just indicates “Assessing”.
Love the NYSEG app. Very easy to use for submitting meter reads, viewing bills, checking for outages and making payments. Highly recommend using the app and better than wasting paper on bills that you will either recycle or file and forget about.
I’ve had this app for years. Everything worked fine. Then approximately 3 months ago it won’t let me log in. I can’t even log in on the website. Like it forgot my login info altogether. But when I try to re sign up it says that the account has already been registered. So, what and when are you going to fix this bug out of an app.
The app makes it super easy to pay the bill, or keep track of usage. But when on the Home Screen the app will not scroll down to see the green pay now button. If you have thin fingers you can press the top of the button to move on to the next screen to pay.
This app is great, I view my bill, and I can see when the most usage occurs. Paying my and keep on top of it, so I’m never late so easy and wonderful. It puts the control in our hands. Thank you for this app it is very helpful. I recommend it to everyone. Thank you.
The NYSEG app is easy to use. It is easy to pay your bill online in a rather self-explanatory manner. The outage map and estimated time of power restoration is also rather informative and easy to use.
This app is tolerable. But nyseg as a company is terrible. I live on the third floor of an apartment building. I ask for any type of service and their response is that they’ll be there between 8am and 4pm. Absolutely ridiculous. And if I don’t answer the front door (which is on the first floor) they leave. They won’t give a courtesy call or anything. It seems that if this app is so good….they’d be able to communicate with it Poor poor poor customer service
This app is extremely awkward. Hinky. Frustrating. It is not straightforward in any way. For example, I like to set up payments ahead of time. Can’t do it. At least I can find no way to do it, which amounts to the same thing. And never sign up for auto pay as NYSEG will quintuple your amount due without warning. They asked me to rate again. Okay. It has gotten worse. This app and the customer service attached to it stinks (you know what word I wanted to use).
This website for bill payments is the easiest to manage than any other website that I use every month to pay my bills. It is quick and to the point. Thank you.
The app and the payment system are a joke even if you are paying ahead it will register you a month behind and you will have to enter your payment information every time even though it saves it somewhere. If I could find an alternative energy company I would have already switched. What a joke a billion dollar monopoly that can’t even afford an app that is half way user friendly.
I had been saying for years that NYSEG should have a phone app. It took a while but it was worth the wait. The app is colorful, easy to use, and convenient when paying my electric bill. I really like it and recommend it.
Fantastic. Takes 15 -20 minutes for set up. Less than 5 seconds to pay a Bill Search works if you have questions Power outage reports are incredibly quick.
Even if their app works, it does not matter. They're trying to raise our rates by 65% over the next three years, and the rates have already gone out of control, so who cares about this stupid app? We have some of the highest in the country, plus the Nyseg is a subsidiary of Avangrid, owned by the Spanish utility giant Iberdrola. Iberdrola’s largest shareholders include Qatar Investment Authority and BlackRock, the giant asset manager. I hope Maine goes public and gets rid of this scourge, Avangrid, which blocks progress for renewables.
I appreciate how easy it is to check my account with the NYSEG app and then make payments. The features allow me to choose when I want the payment to go through.
