clunky, buggy, sticks, spinning wheels, impossible search
This is a great idea, and I appreciate this option but not a lot of employers seem to know about it, shifts are gone in minutes. In addition to this, this app has dozens of bugs which does make it frustrating to use including navigation, search, apply/waitlist, profile edit. It seems to have a problem loading [lots of spinning wheels for searches, notifications]. The search is unclear and clunky. Editing your profile is a problem. I've had to do a mixture of both app and Poached webpage to edit the same line over and over to what I needed to on my profile. When you hit buttons, often nothing happens. or it happens late so maybe the buttons are sticking? iOs auto correct function doesn't work inside of Poached app text bodies so be careful when writing cover letters and messages to employers. Bugs o'plenty...for instance, if someone does hire you for a single shift, you have to go back through and scroll to try and find them to retrieve information. [Ive started taking screenshots as a work-around] Or if you apply to a job, it restarts you at the beginning of the scroll, you have to scroll down again to where you were to continue your search. There isn't a way to quickly go back to the top/start, you have to scroll and scroll upwards. I've taken to closing out the app and starting again [as a personal work-around for multiple bugs actually.] If you are waitlisted and notified of the job opening it's not clear if you've applied again, or if the shift is removed or taken by another or if you're waitlisted a second time? So you're just hoping something went through. Lots of spinning wheels here too as you are notified that a job you've been waitlisted for is open again, you are racing against others to apply for a second time in the chaos and confusion of app bugs [why twice if applied once and waitlisted?] I wish employers would have to click/select certain information when they list. For instance if the position is tipped/not tipped. They are expect to list this and other vital information in the text body, sometimes positions aren't tipped but say they are [employer might edit this out later?] and sometimes jobs are tipped even though they didn't specific on their advert whether or not it is tipped. Mindful coding makes it easier for the employee to make better decisions when applying. This would also be a pro-labor functionality on behave of Poached. There are companies listing jobs NOT in portland/portland area/oregon---why would they think we wanna go outside of municipality/state minimum wage to be a host at a family restaurant in a small town in colorado for half the hourly rate?] It's just more trash to wade through in the scrolling marketplace of employers especially when you have a location perimeter set from the search function. That all being said. I like this concept and idea and am glad Poached came in and did it. With a more efficient app and a better marketing plan to attract more employers, this app might really have something special.
