The dash cam is great, but the app is completely trash. It does connects, but doesn't stay connecting it will disappear in minutes and doesn't remember the wifi, you have to do same thing again and again. Hopefully the company put some effort to fix the app.
(UPDATE) 2023 - App doesn’t even work anymore. Crashes every launch. Won’t even pair with App to Camera. Will be getting another dash cam. (Old Review) 2022 Model: Rexing Dash Cam V3 (Front & Cabin) 1. It took 3 Minutes to connect the app to the camera. Connecting the Camera’s WiFi to my phone (Apple iPhone 13) took seconds. 2. After it connects, it displays an error that says that the Live View couldn’t connect. I was still able to Change the View from the App, and Access my Videos and Photos (Continued). 3. I am unable to watch, view, or play my camera’s recorded videos directly from the app, nor am I able to preview images. *To actually watch, or see any pictures, I have to download them directly to my phone in order to watch. The initial download of each video was quick, but this was not convenient as viewing in the app itself. Conclusion: I have had this for 2 years now, the app has updated (changed the layout), and ever since then I haven’t been able to view videos live or actually watch videos from the app. Before the update it worked, but the playback and loading time of any media from my camera through the app took a very long time to load. The camera itself is great, video quality is good, records well at night. The app is bothersome to connect to.
Dash cam was good at first. After about a year, I started to have issues. The main issue is that it no longer connects to the app. Any videos have to be directly downloaded from the SD drive onto a computer. I can no longer transfer to my phone. The second issue is that the setting don’t always stay. Not sure how this happens but there have been a few times where the loop recording will switch from 3 minute to 1 minute or no loop recording. It’s really odd. Some of the other settings will change too but the most annoying issue is that the time stamp does not actually update. I shut off the car and 8+hours later, it’s at the same time/date as when I shut off the car. I’ve tried adjusting the settings through the device, since I can’t connect through the app but nothing has worked. This is the most annoying and frustrating part since I want to have the correct time/date stamp on the videos.
It’s a pain to connect sometimes and Indont know why they could go with and use Bluetooth but, when it connects the app is easy to navigate and use. It’s easy to watch as well as download videos. If I were to ask one thing they could add or change what would that be? That would be a delete all option when it comes to deleting videos. It’s an Evan more pain to have to click on each and every one when there’s over 100 when you or should you want to delete them. So please, if anyone who can do something about those sees this, please add that option to the delete videos port of the app.. n fact, just add a delete all box.
They camera had been good, 8/10, from time to time the camera will turn “off” but the power light is still saying is on, Just a quick turn on button will turn it back to life, video quality is good. Setting up the app was easy and works great now that I spend a month wondering why I was getting a video play back error!, How I fixed this problem on my iPhone 12 was; I went to my iPhone setting, scrolled down to the Rexing Connect App, & !turned off! Cellular Data (turning this off let me access my videos and live camera view) hopefully this helps if your having the same video play back problem.. THANKS..
I bought the rexing R4 dashcam because it is able to record front, rear, AND the sides of each door in the front! That was something no other dash cam company offers. So I was so happy to buy my dashcam. Once it was installed I downloaded the app and seen all the negative reviews… I was distraught! I paid so much money for the app to ruin the entire experience! I downloaded the app and it was not even loading at all! After an hour of trying I was devastated and had to take the whole dashcam out and bought the Thinkware dashcam that only records front and rear, but their app ACTUALLY works. If it wasn’t for that dam app I would be sooooo happy with the R4 but sadly that is not the case. Rexing please fix you app so that you can have the best dashcam on the market I am extremely disappointed.
I bought this dash cam because one of my family members were recently in a car accident. Someone ran a red light and hit them, but there were no bystanders to prove it. Long story short, our insurance company is getting sued for their mistake. I want to make sure I always have proof of any accident, just in case it is needed. The dash cam works okay, but this app is NOT user friendly, which makes me regret my purchase. My app almost never lets me connect to the dash cam to see live view or any video that has been recorded. What is the point of a dash cam when you can’t get the app to pull up any footage? I would not recommend this dash cam simply because the app is so hard to navigate. Will not be purchasing any other products from this brand.
It takes about five minutes just to connect to the camera and the “live view” never works. When I go to watch a video it will load for two minutes before telling me playback is not available. I then go to download a video and the app will crash before it saves, then I have to wait five more minutes just for it to reconnect, then it tells me the video is already downloaded (which it is not) prohibiting me from downloading the clip “again”…yes the clip that was never downloaded in the first place. So basically if I want to watch the videos I have to go out of my way and be out more money, just because I’d need to pull the memory card from the camera just to plug it into a computer I do not own.
When it does it, it takes multiple minutes to load a list of videos. It then takes a minute or so to load the video so you can check if it’s even the one you want. From the app, there’s no way to save an entire video to your phone. You can only do short 5-15s segments since it seems like they want to push this app as a social media service. Saving a 15s clip usually takes 2 minutes on my iPhone 13 sitting in the drivers seat with the dashcam above my head. Sometimes clips simply won’t save to your phone, so you’ll have to put the SD card in a computer to save those videos anyway Overall, the dashcams are good but the app is really bad
At first about 2 years ago when I got this the app was TERRIBLE, but now it works so MUCH BETTER. Whatever update they did to it made a world of a difference, I could barley use the app at all when I first got my camera, it’s still a little slow when connecting to the cameras WIFI and downloading the videos, but it took me about 5 min total to connect, find and get 2 videos I needed downloaded, which isn’t bad!
This app doesn’t work at all. I was able to easily connect to the camera but none of the functions inside the app work. Live view doesn’t work at all. I can see my recorded videos as a preview on the app but none will download or play so basically the app is useless. If I need video I would have to remove memory card and take to a computer which defeats the purpose of having the app entirely. Paid a lot of money for this camera which does appear to work well but app is useless. App developers need to wake up and fix this thing. I wouldn’t recommend Rexing cameras until they fix the app.
I have had the same issue as others here. I contacted the company and their customer service is actually quite good. The problem is that when you connect to the unit, you still can’t connect to videos. The SOLUTION is to turn off cell data. Not sure why, but it does work. When cell signal is turned off, the videos connect, play, and download. Hopefully, they will get an app update that does not require turning off cell data.
Seems fine so far. You HAVE to be connected to the unit via wifi for anything to happen. Wifi only happens when recording is OFF. To download/delete/forward videos you need to hold your finger on the thumbnail to get it to prompt (took a minute to figure out). I dont need to watch or pull videos unless somthing has happened. I think its just fine.
The camera has tons of features, including being able to have the license plate number as part of the recording overlay. Most of the features that are on the camera, are not supported in the app. It doesn’t make sense to me that they just have the very basic features on the app and you have to navigate the terrible menu on the camera. I would give this five stars if the app included all the features of the camera
My wife bought he HS01 Home Security Camera. I can’t tell you what quality the camera is because the App is such a piece of garbage. It doesn’t show the same screens as the manual, or videos. I have been trying for about 5 hours to get the thing to connect to wifi with no luck. I will definitely be looking elsewhere for a replacement.
Doesn’t work - can’t play videos from connected dash cam
Simply put the app doesn’t work. After connecting - which is tedious and cumbersome - I am never able to connect to Live View and get a video from the dash-cam to play in the app…..which is the main point of the app. Going between menus / screens is super slow, lots of lag. Unfortunately I waited to long to install my dash cam and am outside the return period. If I wasn’t I’d return it. The camera itself is “ok” but the app and cam software make it a hard Do Not Recommend.
Tried everything but it won’t connect to iPhone 14. The camera itself is great but the app is the worst. It’s been more than half a year and I’m still trying to connect it. Calling the company doesn’t help at all. No answer or call back. Update: I was able to connect but the live view doesn’t work. Playback doesn’t work. I tried turning off cellular data on in setting like the other reviewer recommended. Doesn’t work. Absolutely useless.
I bought my dash cam two years ago and even back then the app was kinda laggy and I had to screen record the videos to have them on my phone to share. Now it completely doesn’t work at all! The live view won’t connect and the videos won’t play back at all. This is a complete waste of money!! I’m a Uber driver and I really needed this camera app to work but I don’t think this company is serious about their dash cams anymore.
The device will NOT turn on! It just freezes with the device name on screen! Device ALSO is awful bc it won’t even connect or record the back part. Device doesn’t even connect to device!!!!! Doesn’t give the option to SWITCH to the back, too!!!! The app freezes and everything having to do with this so BAD!!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE THAT WANTS A DASHCAM! Thought it was going to be a great investment for doing my Rideshares! Ugh! NOPE, INCORRECT/WRONG ANSWER! NO STARS!
From the moment I downloaded this app I’ve had issues. WiFi disconnects, can’t watch videos, won’t load live view and it is extremely frustrating!! I am taking this camera back to the store! What’s the point of having it if I can’t access it through my phone. I know a lot of folks would not want to thumb through the camera menu to watch tiny video playbacks. Ridiculous! 😡
Doesn’t connect when you need it. Every time you click anything on the app it just sends you to their website to buy more crappy products. Stop with the adds and just provide functionality and support for the camera….. not user friendly at all anymore. Use to be better but still always had issues. Buying a different brand. Don’t recommend
I had this installed five days ago and have yet to be able to look at any of my videos. The camera does not stay on while driving. goes black. I don’t know if I’m recording anything or not I will find that out today. The app is no use to me because it doesn’t work and that’s the reason why I got this camera. I will be boxing this up and sending it back
Dashcam works great, but who has the time to plug in the SD card into a laptop when you’re constantly on the go? The app constantly crashes, and shows a black screen when trying to use live view. It also gives the option to take pictures and record video: both does not work. Then, when trying to view the last recorded videos, the videos will not play. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Well the unit itself needs improvement. Screen is far too small and tilted away from your eyes so the contrast is horrible and I can barely see what's recorded. The app won't connect to the live view or let me watch any of the videos, despite being connected to wifi. Not a very good product in my opinion but perhaps that's due to the only important features being buggy.
Worst app ever. I cannot get my phone to connect with this app at all. After 6 hours of constantly trying, I gave up. The troubleshooting is a joke! It is NOT USER FRIENDLY AT ALL. I will now have to call tech support and I am afraid that that may be a waste of my time. I brought the dashcam to show police if I need to and I cannot if I cannot get on the app. I really wished that I did not bought it.
I have been trying since the first time I download this app but never been able have a connection to my camera. It will buffer for awhile and then would received error message unable to load. I even tried to unpair the camera and started all over from the beginning but still no luck! Please release a better app for this camera.
Troublesome and annoying. Got side swiped and spent +30 minutes trying to recover footage for the police. App wouldn’t work, took forever to pull up footage, and I couldn’t share the video without posting it publicly. It is a moment I DONT want the world to see Get home to pull footage from SD card and probably a years worth of clips are scattered unorganized. Awful awful awful
While the picture quality on this system may be fine, the firmware, app and customer service are awful—especially for such an expensive device. User interface is 20th century for a tech product and customer service deflects or makes excuses. I hate this thing and wish I had purchased a different brand.
So difficult to get the WIFI to connect. And once connected trying to watch the videos on the app is just as bad. They take a long time to load and are very slow and clunky. Hard to fast forward or rewind to specific parts of a video. I definitely regret purchasing this camera.
The camera was great up until this app was updated last week. It’s been a week since I was able to connect to my dash cam. I have so much footage on their that I cannot get because the app is not connecting to my phone at all. Spent 45min one day trying it connect and still nothing. Please fix this asap.
I was so suprised by how easy this app was to use. I got my phone connected to the app within minutes and then had my the footage I needed on my phone.
