Should be zero stars
Same comments/experience as basically all the other recent reviews. The fan won’t stay connected to the app/wi-if so long than a day. Every time it disconnects you need to delete the device and reinstall, works for a few hours, maybe even a day, then goes into “offline”. I’ve tried to have customer support help, but no real info or solution is offered up. Now that I have read all these reviews I see I’m not alone. I wish I would’ve known this before buying the fan, as the “smart” feature was the whole reason for buying the fan. Stay away from Hunter is you are buying it for any of its smart features. I have dozens of other smart devices in my home, this is the only one with connectivity issues. It’s frustrating that such a large company can put out such a buggy product and still hasn’t done anything to fix it. Buyer beware!!!

Works - kind of.
Previously the app was working well with Alexa integration. Lights worked on/off and setting different dim levels. Fans worked on/off and setting different speeds. Suddenly this is no longer the case. With the most current version of iOS, hunter app, and Alexa app (and hunter skill) fans will no longer turn off via Alexa command. Alexa gives the success tone and the “switch” is off in the Alexa app, however the fan is still on. Looking in the hunter app it also shows as on still. Turning the fan “on” via Alexa after this simply registers the switch as on within the app but physically does nothing. Setting different speeds works fine so the fans are connected. Turning the dan off in the hunter fan app and then using Alexa to turn the fan back on works fine. This tells me this is a hunter app issue in some recent update where it doesn’t recognize “off” when using Alexa. You have to manually turn it off. As an additional note when registered as off in the Alexa app (even the the fan is still on) it seems it never actually shifts the speed to 0% keeping it at whatever level it was on when Alexa registers it as on. That may be the problem. None the less they seem to have broken some communication in one of the recent updates.

Terrible Wifi Fans
These fans that come with simple connect with Home Kit compatibility is really hit or miss. Bought a fan Home Kit compatible spent over an hour trying to even get the SinpleConnect app to work. Finally had to call and found out I needed to use a different SimpleConnect app instead. Then when setting up and account if you do it online first it doesn’t say that the password must contain an upper case and lower case characters, a number and a special character. Super difficult to reset that. Finally get it setup and then it would integrate with HomeKit. Called back and had to do completely different things essentially to trick it into picking it up. Four months later the app stops working in Home Kit, then a couple days later the Hunter app quits working and then just the remote worked and then that stopped working. I call and they apparently knew the receivers on the model I got goes out and you have to replace the entire fan. I get that and reinstall it. The SinpleConnect app finally picks it up fine but HomeKit still will not recognize the fan. Terrible product for claiming to work with HomeKith. I would go with a different brand, after googling this issue tons of people have had the same issues for a long time with no fix In sight from Hunter.

I about to give up on this “smart” fans
Everything used to work great now all of a sudden it no longer will connect to my Wi-Fi net work I’ve tried to reset it many times it’s beyond frustrating every other device in my Homeworks except for these lines of fans nothing has changed should not be this difficult to set up I’m a very advanced computer user I can only imagine how this must be for a novice or somebody who doesn’t understand all of this at this point I don’t know what more to do I’m tired of sitting on hold talk to somebody I don’t wanna wait to go back-and-forth over email. This is a great fan if you don’t mind using the remote control however if you want to use any of the smart functionality is you can forget it once it becomes disconnected if you ever have to reconfigure it to your Netwerk it won’t happen however if you have a fresh network install and everything is brand new out of the box it might actually work OK for you I believe there is some sort of leftover settings that do not get deleted when I try to delete the app and start over I don’t know what else to do I’m very frustrated I’m going to switch to a different smart fan I think

Went from bad to worse
Like many other reviewers, I am pretty good when it comes to smart home features. I have added things from smart lights, smart thermostats, smart power outlets, smart TVs to even smart fridges in the house. And none of them made me as frustrated as the hunter fan devices which are controlled by this application. To start off with , I couldn’t even add all of the 7 fans that I purchased because the application would ask me to restart all over for some reason each time by time I got to the 5th fan. So I accepted them as it was , and moved on. But the problems didn’t stop there. The connections with Alexa was a hit and a miss. Sometimes they work, other times they don’t. When they didn’t , I could at least use this application to make them work. But now , sometime during the last few days the application got rid of ALL devices without any warning and is asking me to add all of them again!! I reached out to hunter customer care and they said nothing can be done without the included remotes , which I do not know where I put for each of the fans so they have become useless for me. Never been this frustrated with any smart device before.

This works less than 50%. That’s as good as not working at all.
I’m not going to rant for long. (Let me quickly preface that I have a home full of “smart devices” and excellent, distributed WiFi coverage. This isn’t my first rodeo.) I’d urge you not to buy a Hunter ceiling fan (or any of their other brands—Google it) and support them when they are advertising products that don’t work. They offer a premium-priced product and promise it works with Alexa, Apple HomeKit, etc. No. No, it does not. SOMETIMES it will work, most times it will not. It needs to connect reliably to be worthwhile. I’d guess most people who go to the trouble of installing a ceiling fan – or worse, hiring someone to do it for them – are not going to take it off the ceiling when it doesn’t work with their smart home devices. No, instead, they’ll rely on the included remote control (circa 1990s) to control their fan and mutter under their breath, “never again, Hunter.” I’ll go out of my way to buy other fan brands after the experience of this atrocious app. Hunter clearly didn’t do their homework when designing (outsourcing to India, likely) this app. And it shows. Let’s not reward them for it.

iPhone “Zoomed” Display Setting
The functionality of the app and HomeKit integration of the fans is less than stellar. I have yet to be able to create an account through the app and probably won’t based on other reviews about having to addback all devices when the account creation is successful. In addition one of my fans repeatedly shows both the light and fan as “on” - both in the Hunter app and in HomeKit when they are clearly “off” so not sure what’s up with that. ***Attention Developers - Bug Fix Needed for “Zoomed” Display on iPhone 6s (maybe other models too)*** When I have Settings > Display & Brightness > Display View set to “Zoomed” certain parts of the device tiles in the Hunter app are off of the screen. This includes the button which allows me to change the fan’s settings (and maybe firmware - can’t see it right now to be able to say for sure because it’s off the screen!). I would bet that the other reviewers who are asking about how to change a fan’s settings have their display set to “Zoomed”. This seems like a basic low level thing that shouldn’t be overlooked by a quality developer.

Nothing Simple about Simple Connect
I am normally pretty good with technology, and I have a lot of patience with it. I have so far spent 3 hours systematically checking off sources of error for why I can’t connect the fan to WiFi. I have read all the reviews and suggestions. I have called Hunter 3 times and emailed 3 times over 2 weeks. Hunter says they have one employee who handles all Simple Connect issues but she has an enormous backlog of customers due to the poor design of the app. I just hope this is a software issue that can be fixed. Whoever you are using for your app development is failing and should be refunding your money because you are losing a lot of long time customers due to their poor execution. Suggest calling up Silicon Valley, maybe they can fix this. Also, isn’t there anyone else in the company you can train to help customers? I realize you’re in Wisconsin, but surely there are tech geeks around you can hire. UPDATE I spoke with the developer and we got me connected. I turned off the beep, and my fan now works great with Google Assistant. My issue was with the Apple Home app, not necessarily the Simple Connect app. I have revised my rating to 4 stars.

Don’t skip out on these fans!
Bought these fans for each room (5 rooms total) 2 years ago and a ceiling fan is just a ceiling fan- wrong! These fans are quiet, easy to install and meld seamlessly into Apple Home Kit. The fan comes with a small remote to control and dim lights. Adjust fan speeds with on/off control as well. I never use remotes as “Siri” and Home Kit control every fan, every room. As easy as “Siri turn fan to 50% “ and it’s done. No problems despite occasional power outage in house, no issues, noises. Still works like new even though they are used every day. I would never go back to another ceiling fan. I don’t want or use Alexa so I don’t know about that system but with Apple these fans connect simply and seamlessly! Check it out.

Disappointed
I bought this fan solely because it works with Alexa and I was wanting to upgrade. I have many smart devices in my home and a reliable internet connection. I will certainly say this is the absolute worst experience I have had with any smart device. The app is useless. Some folks say it helps with disabling beeps. I can’t even get that far. After setting up and account and the device, I get a message that says my hunter account is not synced to my home. Keep in mind there is not sync prompt and if they mean the Home app the fan does appear there and I am able to control it from that app. The app will either automatically log you out, or it will delete your device and make you do the set up process again. This absolutely does not work with Alexa. It never has. Few have been lucky, but based on research, seems it only works for a little while before being disconnected. I am so very disappointed and almost feel like this was false advertising.

June 2020 Version is a Huge Improvement
After updating to the latest iOS app version, I am now able to use my fan without all of that bizarre behavior I was seeing before. Maybe it was a backend change, too. No matter. I'm just glad that things like fan speed is adjusting correctly using HomeKit and the Hunter app is now showing the correct status of the fan and light. I was fairly unimpressed when I first installed the fan. Being in the IT field, I've seen some crackerjack software -- but this was downright embarrassing. Seems like they've taken the time to try and fix these problems, so I've taken the time to try and recognize that in this review. Only four stars because my first impression was "why did I buy this?"

Easy comfort with simple fan and light control
Installed a new Hunter Cavera Wi Fi ceiling fan in my bedroom. It came with a light and fan remote control that works great. Remote is already synced with the fan for a no hassle setup. But what I really love is my light and fan control via Alexa. Have you ever came home late and tired just wanting to go to bed, only to forget to turn on you ceiling fan. No problem. Because of the Simple Connect app just say “Alexa, Hunter fan 50%” and immediately the quiet, cooling breeze starts. I can even wait till I’m in bed before turning off the light. “Alexa, Hunter light off”. No more stumbling in the dark going to bed. This is the best ceiling fan I have ever owned.

Doesn’t work
June 2020 update: One of the last updates fixed my HomeKit integration! I can now select the fan speed. It took a while but thanks for doing it! April 2020 update: Still doesn’t work. Lets me set up the fan then says it needs to sync and removes the fan in an infinite loop. After it’s added, I can turn the fan on and off but cannot change the speed. 2019: Keeps saying I’ve provisioned on a different device. Won’t work even when resetting and starting over. Response to developer: I’ve tried completely removing it from HomeKit and resetting the fan to defaults and starting from scratch. As soon as I add it to your new app, it says it’s provisioned on a different device and won’t let me do anything other than re add it. Also, when I use this app to add the fan to HomeKit, I still can’t control the speed of the fan in HomeKit. It’s either 0% or 100%.

Hunter Fans/Apps/Support is All Terrible
I bought a new hunter fan because the one that came in the house was too old to replace the needed parts. It hung and looked good but the lights would only dim just the tiniest bit. I got the app that Apple HomeKit said I needed and it was apparently an old app that doesn’t function. So I downloaded this app...v2 must be better. But nope. Just a tiny bit of dim. AppleKit says I need an update to my firm ware but neither app can do it. Called customer service who said a new app will be released soon to allow updates. New update to the app, still can’t update the fan. Support said I need different bulbs than the ones that come in it (because who would put dimmable bulbs in a package with a dimmable fan?). So I bought LED dim manor bulbs. Just put them in...still no fix. Never buying a Hunter fan again. This is an old company that should be ahead of the game, but they clearly hired the wrong tech team.

TRASH
I have had this app and two Casablanca fans for more than two years now and I can’t take it any longer. First off those switches are terrible. WHY would you make an actual power button to cut the power to the fans. It’s the first thing people see. Why not just make a pull tab like other manufacturers? People walk by and want to turn the light on or off and take a guess what they hit. It’s not the light or fan button. It’s the power. When this happens there goes the smart device. It’s no longer smart. Then the app is just as shaky. I don’t know when was the last time it actually worked without the bugs. This was just waste of time. I have hoped that they have come out with a better product but nope. Caseta has worked flawlessly for me 6 years running. That’s where I’ll be from here on out.

Just to Disable the Beep
To be honest, this app isn’t as bad as I had feared based on the other reviews. But if you use HomeKit, it’s completely unnecessary except for one key feature — disabling the annoying beeps whenever you change any light/fan setting. The way to do this is not exactly intuitive, but thanks to another review I was able to find the feature: Once you’re signed in, tap the “expand arrow” on the fan tile to show the fan speeds and “i” icon. Tap the “i” and then go to “Features.” Here you’ll find an “Audio Feedback” toggle. Inexplicably, this setting isn’t under “Features” for the light, but this one will disable the beeps for both. Hopefully this will help somebody else out there (and Hunter will work on their UX)!

Avoid at all costs
This is possibly the worst app in existence. This is made even worse when it’s paired with the absolute worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. The app is slow, buggy, unresponsive and barely even seems to work half of the time. My Alexa connection disconnects itself every few weeks and I have to completely delete, re-configure, and reconnect my fan all over again every single time. The account login screen can be nauseating when it decides to refuse to work which usually seems to be the case for me. Prepare to spend hours on an app that shouldn’t require more than 10 minutes of your time. On top of all of that, the customer service is unbelievably slow, unhelpful and provides no useful information. I’d respond to their messages on Twitter within 1 or 2 minutes and I would often would find myself waiting 3 or 4 hours for them to get back to me with another message. After that message finally came, the 3 to 4 hour wait cycle for another one would repeat itself. This made it impossible to get an effective communication done. I’d avoid this app and, if possible, I’d definitely go with a whole different brand entirely.

Don’t Waist Your Time
At first the fan worked perfectly and the remote was working perfectly fine. The remote is easy to lose especially in bedrooms. When I first got the fan I was trying to set up the app and it kept glitching over and over again and I ended up deleting it because I was fed up with it. I had this fan for less than a year and my remote is not working now. The light kept flickering on and off and i was trying to press the button to turn it off but nothing happened. So I redownloaded the app and I keep running into the same exact issue. It kept glitching and wasn’t working properly and I closed out of the app multiple times and NOTHING WORKED. I even tried to use the app assistant but it didn’t work. Please do not waist your money on this fan or the app.

Inexcusable app dev
If you can get it to connect to Alexa, it works most of the time. HomeKit randomly breaks and fixes with no reason. Currently it’s been “updating” in HomeKit for the last several months. The app has a cloud mode only solution that it claims fixes that, but they would require the app to actually work for controlling the fan. It does not. My best advice is hold on to that remote for dear life. If you want to control your fan like every other smart device in your house, don’t hold your breath. It’s quite a shame. The fan itself actually is quite nice. Works well and looks good. But in 2023 you need to make products that work with home automation. And, if you do, it actually has to work. I don’t think I’ll be buying Hunter products in the future after this experience.

Works. Then doesn’t.
This is a simple app. But it is unreliable. It would be helpful to have voice commands that stayed linked, for good, once set up. I use Alexa. I get messages that Alexa’s skill is unlinked. After I linked it. I get messages about a hub not being present, which is actually true. I’ve got no hub. But my first attempt at setup worked, then stopped, telling me that the hub I don’t have is not present. Argh! Alexa has been out how long? WiFi? iOS? Seems like this apparently simple implementation should have an easy setup that stays working perpetually. Isn’t that that point? Smart fan? Smart home? Thanks for continuing work to get this exasperating little app working consistently. Shoot for the moon; and maybe five star average reviews.

IT Professional By Trade. Cant get these to work.
I have 4 of them in my house. When they first came out they worked well and kept a stable connection. Ever since about a year or so ago, they can’t hold a connection for more than a few minutes. I’ve reset, replaced, updated everything I could possibly think of. Nothing. Then talk about the app, it’s a joke. Firmware updates are practically non-existent, and forget HomeKit support. Everything else in my home connects just fine, these things are the only things that are never connected. Sounds like a firmware update is needed but the app is lackluster at telling you whether or not you have the most current version. Just a bad app, bad support, they take your money and sell you on “smartl features that never work.

Not working properly
I do not understand why we were force to download a new app instead of simply update the previous one. After downloading the 2.0 app the system ask me to sync my HomeKit 6 fans and delete them all. That was inconvenient, but O was willing to setup all 6 of that means an app that really works. After setting up the 1st fan and receiving two success messages, I proceed to the next fan until all 6 were setup! Just after completing the final setup I just try to turn up a fan using the app and I received the same message of syncing and I say no, so the app just logout. After login in the app force me to sync and delete all the fans. After setting up all the fan 3 times a total of 18 setup I decided just to give up and write this review... Hunter keeps disappointing me over and over again....

So far a terrible experience
Bought 4 advocate fans. All fans hooked up to the application. Sadly I didn’t create an account first, as when I did create an account it wiped all the fans from the application. Reconnected all the fans to the application. All fans added to HomeKit. 1. There is always at least one fan that is not connected from the application. Very frustrating as all fans are about 10-20 feet from access point. 2. As of the simple connect 3.0 update, besides the ui getting a major usability downgrade, not the fans are always in a different state in the application then the actual fans themselves. My bedroom fan is currently off and so is it’s light. App reports light on and fan at 16% speed. Ironically, I want the fan at 16% speed but can’t get it there via the app. The other fans show same problems. Have “rebooted” the fans multiple times and opened tickets with their support team. Almost no response or help from them. Very frustrating when the only reason I purchased the fans was for the WiFi and HomeKit connectivity. Regret purchase and wish I could rate this application lower.

SimpleConnect 2.0 App Does Not Work iOS14
I originally bought all four symphony fans in May and app worked mostly fine. All fans stayed connected to HomeKit except one on occasion would be unresponsive but a simple removal and setup would resolve. Now since iOS 14, it prompts you to sync your account to fans and it forces all fans to be removed. The ultimate problem is once you add one fan, the same error pops up and will force you to sync your account which was already done which removes the fan just connected OR logs you out until you accept which means you still cannot add any fans or control them. The app says they are aware but it’s been weeks and no update. Customer service ticket was submitted and I still have received no response. I have four fans which are dumb without being able to add to HomeKit or their horribly designed and non functioning app. Hunter developers. Read this: do not force HomeKit users to setup your fan through your app when you can not develop a functioning app. There are plenty of other device manufacturers who allow you to directly setup HomeKit devices through home app without their dedicated app.

If you thought the last app was bad.....
I recently stumbled upon this new version of app out of pure frustration that I couldn’t turn off the beeps on the 4 new fans I installed. As soon as I downloaded it and logged in to my hunter account it was like magic. All of my fans and rooms where there, things just worked......for about 60 seconds until it kept popping up wanting me to delete all of my fans and start over again. Now it’s just stuck in a loop of trying to add fans- I really don’t want to go hunting for the HomeKit codes to delete them all and start from scratch. Probably gonna delete the app and let HomeKit continue to control and just tolerate the annoying beeps. I would say so close, but it’s not close. It’s just a prettier version of the last useless app they put out.

Simple, seamless, amazing
Yes, I was quite aware of the horrible reviews of this app and how up until nearly a month ago the app hadn’t been updated for over one year (and I believe nearly two or more). However, after seeing recent updates I gained more hope, enough to buy two new fans from Home Depot. The fan itself is not only a fantastic and quiet product, but the experience between installation and especially HomeKit integration was fast and fantastic. No issues. This is one of my favorite HomeKit accessories.

Terrible support
Looks like I’m not the only one with this issue. The app doesn’t recognize my fan. Customer service is awful... the phone line says a call back in 20 minutes, and hours later someone will call and “escalate the issue”. Four calls over the span of a week and exactly the same each time. Finally was escalated to someone who set an appt with me. She was Quality Assurance and also couldn’t assist, but “escalated” me to the developer team and promised and follow up in 24 hours. That was a week and a half ago and no follow-up, despite my daily emails. The remote also only works sporadically, and since the app doesn’t work, the fan is useless. I finally uninstalled it. It will be returned. This wouldn’t be the case if the app actually worked.

It all went to hell
I installed a Hunter fan, Covera model, and it took me hours to get it loaded on my iPhone, but I did it and it worked great. We Decided to get the same one for our bedroom (let’s not discuss my disappointment with this fan.). I tried to get it connect to my iPhone and thought all was well when it told me that the connection was successful. Hit next, then came the error message which said an error has occurred and the app logged me out completely. When I went back in the origami fan that had been loaded was gone as well. I have not had any success in getting either fan to successfully load since that error message. Very disappointed in Hunter fans.

No longer works
With a lot of effort after my purchase, I got my 3 Hunter WiFi fans to work…then came the iOS 16 update (which is a good update…no blame for Apple on the Hunter fan issues). All of my devices work fine with this update, even the older ones that need the 2.4 GHz network, but not the Hunter fans. All 3 disconnected. I followed the reset and reconnect directions multiple times with no luck. The process always ended with an error message. For now, I will have to use the remotes that came with the fans (thank goodness they work). Hunter fans are good, quiet fans, but Hunter either needs to fix the WiFi aspect of their product or get out of the smart fan business.

Worst HomeKit accessory ever
Apple really should make Hunter stop listing these fans as HomeKit compatible. Regularly becomes unresponsive or doesn’t react to automation. HomeKit swears there is a firmware update, then tells you to use the old WiFi app that Hunter is no longer supporting. Save your money and buy a good fan and HomeKit wall switches to control it with. Has to be much less frustrating. Update: This latest version seems to have updated the firmware on my fan. The app shows firmware version 0.31 instead of being blank. Might have finally got this working. Changing from 1 star to 3 stars for the improvements.

I WAS excited
I was really excited to take my ceiling fans into the 21st century with voice commands. The app worked for a couple of days. I lost internet connectivity one day and when it came back the app and the voice commands from Siri and Alexa stopped working. That did not surprise me at all. But what DID surprise me was that after the internet connection was restored everything was still not working. I had to re-pair the fan with the app to get it to work. The next day I was back to only being able to use the remote. They obviously have a long way to go before the app really works. I know corporations have huge incentives to get things to market so they can make money, but maybe they need to think about consumer anger over being what amounts to Beta Testers for every product they own. It’s frustrating to know that the chances are very slim that software or hardware is going to work as advertised. And I don’t blame the developers. It’s probably the fault on management setting unreasonable deadlines.

Can’t sign in.
The fan works over WiFi in the app with fewer features but I have issue with this app(so it should probably be rated lower). I simply can not sign into the App because the keyboard covers the sign in button. I can not tab to it cause there are no tab keys present. I can’t de-select the sign in or password fields to allow the keyboard to hide. I can’t rotate the screen to try to trick the app into starting over on that screen with a hidden keyboard. Do I have to change my text size to sign in(and somehow I doubt that would even work.)? I did read that this app was iOS compatible, right?

Only Good When It Works
I have five fans. I have had them for five years. 2 of them occasionally stop working for no reason and I have to repair them. No idea why. Always the same two. Very annoying. This happens every few weeks. The rest usually work. Lately (past six months), the app stops working. And in Home, they show not responding. Rebooting the internet and my Apple TVs sometimes helps, but with each update it becomes more frequent and troublesome. As of right now, none of my fans work anymore in the app or Home. These are my only HomeKit accessories with issues too.

It’s ok. Just need it to go onto other apps.
There was an update so now I could set up my fan. HomeKit is way easier to set up than Alexa, but they’re both set up now. It seemed to default to HomeKit and I had to look a bit on how to do Alexa. Pretty nifty though. —- old —- I’m so excited to use this fan with my smart home setup, but I’m unable to use this app. On startup it gives an iCloud error. I was able to create an account, but then I get a generic error on log in.

App works great
Installed fan, downloaded the app and set it up with Homekit. Worked reasonably well, but could not control the fan’s speed via Siri, even after several resets. Emailed support, and after a few exchanges, they updated the fan’s firmware and it now works perfectly. Having a voice controlled fan is a really great addition to a smart home. If you have problems with the app, contact Hunter support. There is a solution.

If only there were negative stars
This is absolutely the worst “smart” app ever! I downloaded this, created an account, verified my email address only to have a programming exception upon trying to login! Chatted with the customer service line who gave me a supposed number to address the issue. That person had no idea took more information via email to push it further up the food chain. Whoever developed this garbage should be looking for a new job! “SimpleConnect” what a joke! Received an email that it was fixed…no it wasn’t. This is a wifi fan yet no remote-so yippee can log on finally-but still doesn’t connect.

Works great, tied into Alexa
Got mine working first try no issues...not sure about other reviews but figured I’d list my order of operations in case it made the difference. 1. Installed fan, tested it, balanced it out. So far so good. 2. Installed app via Apple store on my iPhone (11 if it makes a difference) 3. Created Hunter account via iPhone app with my gmail address. It sends email to verify. 4. Opened gmail ON MY PHONE (important to open on device apparently), clicked verify button it opens on chrome then app. 5. Made sure all is working via Hunter app. 6. Added Hunter skill in Alexa app, connected accounts, renamed devices in Alexa app (office fan and office light for my setup) 7. Tested with Alexa. “Turn on Office Fan”, “Set Office Fan to 50%”, etc. All good!

App built by completely incompetent developers with no testing whatsoever
Absolute morons built this app that cannot figure out how to add multiple fans without re-syncing to HomeKit which drops all set up fans. Highest number of fans before being forced to resync was 4. Too bad I bought 11 fans. 3 Hrs and 10 minutes on hold with technical support to speak with the least technically inclined lady ever. Now I’m stuck pulling down 11 fans and getting into a giant fight with the retailer about returning fans with no boxes. Never thought I could so passionately hate a company like I do with hunter over an app. Every developer there needs to find new careers in fast food - that’s all they’re capable of.

Worst app I’ve ever used.
As if my first setup experience with setting up these fans wasn’t bad enough, foolish me, made a change to my WiFi network that required repairing. It took me hours to set up two fans, there is no rational besides dumb luck when they will actually pair. I haven’t been so frustrated in a while. I will never buy another Hunter product so long as they keep using this god forsaken app. Two stars only because they aligned and i managed to get my fans paired. I will never touch my WiFi setting for the rest of my life. Get bent hunter.

Great Fan, Updated App
When I first got the fan the smart feature didn't work. The developer contacted me to let me know they had fixed this issue though the app store. I just got it hooked up wirelessly with no hiccups. I'm so excited to have it working. Thanks for fixing the app. We love the fan. It's quiet and really helps cool our upstairs bedroom.

Bugs and no point registering
Bugs galore. Fan speed doesn’t work. Hit medium Speed and it changes to slow speed. Hit fast speed and it goes to medium speed. Have to turn the fan off an on to get high speed. And forget about the registering of the email. The app pesters you to register to unlock additional feature. You can’t verify the email from any computer. You have to use a phone with your email setup on the phone in order to verify. Ridiculous. And once you do register there actually isn’t any additional features. What a scam to get your email information. I look forward to the spam. Thanks

Another Failure From Hunter!
This is the gang that couldn’t shoot straight! After operating a truly flawed app for nearly 3-years; Hunter outdoes themselves and launches a “new” 2.0 app that is even worse! It’s like they took all of the bad feedback from the first app (all 3-years worth of it) and used it (the bad feedback that is) to create this disaster! Don’t bother downloading it. It will have you go through the trouble of reinstalling all of your fans only to tell you that you need to delete them and do it again! Hey Hunter: call me in another three years when you get this app back to the horrible place that you were three years ago!

Garbage app and garbage “smart” fans
If you’re reading this, I hope you have not installed your fan yet. Don’t do it. Return it to wherever you bought it. These things are garbage. I bought 3 of them nearly 2 years ago and they have never worked for more than a few days before losing their connections and requiring a major pain in the rear to get working again. I’ve been using Hunter Fans for nearly 4 decades. These Smart Fans have convinced me to end that relationship. I hope I was able to save some of you time, money, and frustration.

App Fails on iPhone 12 with Router 2.4 GHz Connection Speed
This app basically does not function on an IPhone12 At the point when one would expect the iPhone to successfully pair with the fan, it simply clocks and fails to pair. Followed all of the FAQs and related help suggestions to no avail. Not sure if anyone is at the helm for this company because no support people answer the phone or respond to email questions. Would recommend buying a different fan or if you already purchased a Bluetooth enable fan, use the remote that came with the fan or buy a new remote for your fan model.

Buggy and not reliable
Put simply, had trouble with dimming the light in iOS. Power cycled by cutting the pier to the fan entirely. Back on and it started working. Went and used the remote supplied with the fan and now I can’t control fan speed or the brightness of the light. Power cycle again and now I can now control the brightness of the light but now can only turn the fan on and off to whatever it was set to last by this app or the remote in HomeKit. Junk App! They need to fix this! And how do reset the entire fan? I can only find how to reset the remote... which btw doesn’t fix controlling the fan via HomeKit.

Forced integration with home kit
Setting up my costly smart ceiling fan with Alexa was unnecessarily complicated. The default behavior of the Hunter app is to setup via Apple home kit- which I’ve never used or wanted. Home kit requires odd permissions such as precise location to be enabled. Hunter- please join the rest the smart home world and skip the forced Apple integration. I did find later that there’s a “legacy” method to add a device, which may have followed standard smart home procedures, but there’s no reason for that to be buried in a second menu.

Class action lawsuit?
Anyone want to start a class action lawsuit against Hunter for advertising a product that simply doesn't work? What an absolutely terrible, terrible app. Who paid the monkeys to develop this crap? The UI looks like they just completed a basic iOS development course. The app just doesn’t work. I just get “There was a problem! Read/Write operation failed.” And nothing else. I’m never buying anything Hunter again. Please fire these crap developers. And to the developers, find a new career path because app development is NOT for you! - A software developer

It works when it wants to.
I am an IT professional, this app as I said works when it wants to. I can open the app one day and everything work as intended, then the next day nothing work and I have to get out of bead and turn the fan off at the switch. One would think as an alternative I could just tell Alexa to turn off the fan, but nope she says there is nothing by that name. Well I assure you there is. I love my IoT devices but ether this app or the hardware is used for has some major kinks to work out.

Just horrible
My issue is still not resolved and was escalated to engineering. Support suggested I delete my home and set it up again. The other devices I automate don’t have anywhere this level of poor app design or issues. They said someone would be in contact in a couple days...it’s been weeks. I just want to run the firmware update so HomeKit stops telling me the fan has an update. It will not log in to Hunter’s server and every time I attempt to do so, I have to go through the pairing process all over again. Unfortunately, the remote is the best way for me to operate my hunter fan. I feel swindled.
