It works, I like the interface. But it’s slower than ever, anything that said it’s going to take 5 minutes takes 15. At least find a way to give accurate quote times even if it is longer
By far the worst app I’ve ever used. Nightmarishly slow, you go to update firmware it’ll take 30+ minutes even though it says 5-8 most of the time. You have to stand directly by the inverter or it will disconnect and you’ll have to start over. And every time the app gets updated or patched it gets worse. Also if it ever does finish updating the firmware often times it will update a second or third time for no reason. There has to be a way for me to get to the error page without updating first. I spend most of my day standing in the sun roasting alive staring at my phone, fighting this app to respond. Don’t get me started on pairing that is an even slower process. Often I’ll find myself stuck on a job for hours for a repair that should take no more than 10 minutes. You guys should consider hiring a professional programmer because this is just ridiculous. Seriously a garbage app. I could triple the amount of work I get done in a day if this app wasn’t so slow and buggy.
I’m a professional working in the solar industry in NYC, and the removal of LCD screens and introduction of this app system has caused me an unbelievable amount of unnecessary headaches and difficulties. Currently waiting for an inverter’s firmware to update - the screen has displayed “2 minutes remaining” for about 20 minutes now, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Huge battery drain, unresponsive, inaccurate, glitchy, and all-around one of the worst apps I’ve ever had the displeasure of being forced to use. This is the only app I’ve ever reviewed on the App Store, I really couldn’t help but voice my opinions on this. SolarEdge, please heed these reviews, your customer service was terrible enough as it was without the added trouble having to help people troubleshoot the app itself. Ridiculous.
Release notes that state “ Bug fixes and improvements” are a cop out by a lazy product manager. What bugs were fixed? What “improvements” were made? Why isnit necessary to physically touch an inverter to get a inverter or communications status? The whole idea of an app is to be able to do more than just look at numbers. If you look hard enough with this app, and are standing next to the inverter, you can stumble across a “log”, that shows errors. Why on earth can’t we do that without being home? Good grief!
Go back to the old inverters! Just as bad as fronius now
Spent three hours trying to connect my phone to the inverter. I had someone inside the house connected to the inverter while I was trying to look at the screen. They had to disconnect from it just so I could check the status of the commissioning. I know it’s a quick fix but when you’re on the job site trying to get out of there ASAP it becomes a headache. The process went from two minutes to three hours. Either SolarEdge needs to put back the old screens or just wait until something better comes along. It’s a shame I loved those inverters
This app and system of doing this on my phone is complete unadulterated TRASH. Bring back the buttons on the inverter. That worked 99.9% of the time. My phone didn’t have to overheat in the Arizona sun. My favorite part of all this is the 6 minute countdown that last 30 minutes and the entire time my phone has to be awake and close enough so that I don’t lose signal. I can’t deviate from the app with the sun blasting. Summers are such a drag, more like any day that’s above 90 degrees. . . Let’s use some common sense here people.
Worst app I think I’ve used In a long time. The 2 stars are just for the efficiency of the inverter. the app is horrifyingly slow and buggy. I wish they would fix this crap since I spend most of my day outside fighting with this stupid app getting burnt and you can’t get more than 5’ away and don’t attempt to multi task while you wait for the 6min update that actually takes 30 mins because it will disconnect and fail. TRASH
I’ve refrained from updating this app because the old version still was extremely successful, but I was forced to get the new version and it won’t even allow me to begin the activation. It’s literally frozen... as a solar tech this is extremely extremely extremely annoying.. because it doesn’t work. how can I complete the system and activate it.. if it doesn’t work..
We install at least 15 SolarEdge inverters a week and I just hate to have to wait this long to commission. You just never know how long will take it, can be 10 minutes or can be 45-1hour. I really think in start change our designs to microinverters when we have multiple azimuth or start sending a bill to SolarEdge for such a waste of a tech time. Btw I’m a SolarEdge believer and I have in my house, but this new one, was just a bad design all along.
Why is it when we back out of the app to do something els on the phone when going back into setup app you have to log back into the inverter every time Please fix this Everything else seems to be running much smoother with the new up date tho
It will not connect to another inverter. Not sure if this was an update or not. As it was working fine before. I am on an iPad. All it does is connect and hangs on processing. Can’t go further. Tried reinstalling, didn’t work. Verified credentials were correct, didn’t help. The app works on other devices but refuses to work on this iPad. This software is heresy.
Look, I understand FW takes a while to load. I just wish "6 minutes" did not equate to 20 minutes every single time without fail. It would also be nice to hold the session while multitasking. My phone is being held hostage for 20 minutes for FW update. Also, seems to require a cell signal for FW not included in the app refreshes. I know it's 2020, but I'd like to think that in a cell-free place like, say, Vermont, I could do the install without service. Update 9/2020: Noticing lately that initiating pairing, then hitting "disconnect" seems to result in unsuccessful pairing when I come back, re-connect and check status. If I sit with the inverter, however, a "successfully paired" message comes up. It's as though I'm required to hit "ok" on this message in order for the optimizers to check in and inverter to start up. Absurd. We're stuck with SolarEdge on these aging systems and forced to use increasingly cheezier replacement equipment.
Inverter upgrade was fast, no need to open the inverter cover. UI is very clear and attractive, and much more simpler than older generation LCD inverters. Kudos to the developers!
They added a welcome screen for no reason and now cannot even get past this screen to use the app. Not mention how awful the app is when you actually can use it but now it’s completely inoperable for me. Fix this.
If I could give it a 0 out of 5 I would. App needs new firmware update all the time. It doesn’t load to 100%. Customers can’t get their solar commissioned. So you call support and the average wait time is 76 minutes. What are you supposed to tell the customer?!? Fix your garbage app and your garbage company
This is a terrible app/commissioning system with numerous technical difficulties that stem from connecting via an app rather than a display. The commissioning process on solar edge inverters has probably increased by about an hour for each inverter compared to the screened inverters. Why did you need to do this?
App always has to update FW upon opening but FW update always fails. To get support you have to call in and that takes a few hours, not exaggerating. If you are ever unlucky enough to have to use this app for work I feel for you. It’s going to be a long day for you. Zero star rating.
The app is glitchy and loads very slowly. After the most recent update, the app will no longer make it past “processing”- the app connects to the inverter’s WiFi. No help from SE tech support.
It works, but I would hate to have to use it often. I assume that the SolarEdge engineers also hate it, and the company must be having the application re-written.
This app is probably the most glitchy I’ve ever seen. It takes at least an hour to get a system turned on, if it will even get that far. Such a waste of time! Fix this app or go back to screens!
Very easy to use, if it worked. Takes hours instead of minutes to commission. Takes 2 plus hours in order to reach tech support. Fix the app or go back to the buttons on the inverter.
I have a solar edge inverter with out a display. I was able with this app to see more details about my inverter before update. I can no longer see the temperature or isolation value ( I was getting isolation errors ) This app is less useful to owners who want too check their inverter. Please update and put back temp and isolation values. Thanks
I’m so sick of waiting 3+ hours to speak with tech support
We are done with this solar edge nonsense. I spend 15-20 hours a week on hold, such a waste of money to service these systems because they can’t get enough people in tech support.
Updating and pairing went from 15 minutes with old inverter to hours with screen less inverter using this app. 3 hours of troubleshooting and an incomplete install because of new inverter.
Why did solaregde go to this stupid app? Now it takes 3 times as long to commission the system, so many bugs, internet unreliable... worst innovation ever!
The app isn’t very consistent at all. If you have more than one inverter to interface with get ready for a lot of headaches. Once the inverter is updated and activated it is just easier and much more smooth to use the IP address to interface with the inverter. 172.16.0.1 bookmark it. You’re welcome.
