I will love to attach pictures on the notes, that will be really convenient when recording ambient or roomtones. Editable Q points on a viewable timeline like marks on protools. Differentiate a bit more NEXT TAKE (even though is at the top), maybe put it bigger than the other takes.
Love the App but DO NOT CHANGE track names while speeding!!
The app has a great integration however don’t ever change names while rolling. This caused me to overwrite a 4gb file that was not possible to retrieve. If you download it please make sure you don’t enter the den of stress I went through because of this app. I keep using the app everyday but I respect the fact that the app is way limited to make any changes while speeding, hopefully they have a new update soon fixing such a huge problem. I hope this info helps my fellow mixers, thank god I always have a quad recording system as a backup, but the SD and CF cards on the 688 did not have the file I was looking for even after going through several data retrieving softwares. First time in 15 years something like this happened to me. Who would have thought the glitch would come from the app and the recorder in conjunction. Maybe technology needs a bit more of research before making it available to the world.
A stable and versatile compliment to my recording package. The dongle is inexpensive, the app pretty intuitive and helpful. I find the Sound Devices Wingman app a great help in keeping up with last minute changes especially on fast moving commercials. The ability to change scene and take numbers and add or edit notes via a bluetooth keyboard connected to my iPad mini is great. Note that landscape mode is supported on iPads. Just be sure to keep recorder firmware and app versions current.
It's been over a year since the app as gotten an update while the new stuff for the 8 series gets updates. Still have issue where the app launches and when I try to input notes on past takes it backs me out of the app or when in I type I can't see my sentence after 3 words making me guess. If you aren't going to update this app like the 6 series now then just tell us and let 3rd party handle the app or make a new one.
5-4-23 worked as intended until today. Not sure if it’s incompatible with a system update or what? The app will not stay open. It instantly closes itself. If I turn off Bluetooth the app will open but once it’s on the app closes. Please help!
Buggy, No Updates = SoundDevices Can’t Be Bothered
There are so many ways this app could have been updated and improved since its release, such as allowing more characters for file and track description, and to fix the LARGE BUG where the MixPre does not display the same file name as the app. No updates and improvements in such a long time means that SoundDevices has completely dropped the ball on this one, and that’s a shame.
Pretty basic functionality. Really wish I could add text names through the iPhone keyboard. Much better than lugging a pc keyboard and plugging it in. Also Doesn’t seem to work when you have wireless mic transmitters plugged into the Mixpre-6 at the same time. I guess it scrambles all Bluetooth signals?
I use the app every time I use my SD mixer, but I would love a refresh on the UI and some added functionality. It’d be nice to have more features with naming/metadata. As well as more remote mixer control options from the app.
Love this app and use it all the time. Unfortunately I can’t access it. It keeps crashing and exiting out whenever I try and open it. It might need an update. Please help
Great app! Use it with my 688, 633 and MixPre-6. Some problems while naming and typing, gut great app. I wish it had apple watch remote for recording, stoping, false-takes and to circle takes.
Worked great until the recent update to the Mix Pre 3 II which enabled 32 but float... before that it was a great way to monitor and log audio, as well as control the recorder remotely.
Pairs instantly, great interface. I agree with the request for Landscape mode and I would absolutely LOVE an Apple Watch supporting app to toggle transport or even monitor levels if possible. Would make stealth mode even stealthy-er. While we are on the wish list manufacturing track, how about the ability to change levels from the app ? Means I could lock the Pre-3 in a waterproof box and record from the kayak with out fearing for the Pre's well being.
Sound Devices continues to set the bar high for others to follow. I love the Wingman. It paired easily with my 664 and has made it simple to record, stop, make scene changes and enter metadata. Great job.
Well an app, connecting to a hardware device ("smart dongle") the app is free, the dongle cost you 68us, only problem, they do not work. - at all. The app does not connect to the dongle, means your app is just useless crap. - and of cause consumer service is closes. Seldom being so angry
