After 30 Plus years of owning a retail business I transitioned into home inspections. One thing I learned from my past experience was the importance of good tools and knowledge. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I try to go the cheap route, or the path of least resistance. Often figuring out later on that I need to upgrade, invest in better quality or hire someone to do something that I was not specialized in. With all this being said I knew that I would not be skimping as I got into this new industry. Whether it was my education, my tools or reporting software and website i knew the value would be in not going the cheap route. Not to call Spectora expensive because in the scheme of things it’s rather budget oriented. I’m so glad I chose Spectora for my software and my website. They’ve been very responsive and easy to deal with. Constantly improving updating the product and giving me good insight to how I can become a better business operator. Zero buyers remorse, nothing but happiness with my choice!
One of the hardest things for an inspector to do is switch software. It’s like wearing someone else’s tool pouch. It doesn’t fit right and you don’t know where anything is. I’ve been inspecting for 8 years now and for most of those inspections I used the same software. It was a good program. I was fast when using it. But it had some limitations and I could see myself getting left behind if I didn’t make a change. I started searching for another option and came across Spectora. It had the features I was looking for. The presentation was stellar. The all-in-one package really appealed to me. So I made the switch and I’m glad that I did! The software is easy to use. Easy to customize. The response rate from the developers is astounding! This is the future of report writing! The slow season is the time to make the switch so do it now! If you’re new... this will be the only tool pouch you’ll ever need.
I’m new to inspecting, within the last 6 months. Spectora is super user friendly. I love how comments can be added as you go and my reports are about 95% complete when I leave an inspection. Editing on the computer, iPad, iPhone, is a breeze. I’ve gotten nothing but compliments from clients on how easy final reports are to navigate and read. Agents especially love the repair request builder and how convenient it is to see all the defects in one place. The only complaint I have about the entire program is you can’t copy and paste pictures within the program. As in, a photo I’ve taken can’t be copied and easily moved to another section unless you download on a computer, then add it. I know you can have the program copy all the photos you take to your personal photos library, but I take over 100 pictures usually on an inspection so I’d have to go in and delete all those pictures from my iPad every time and that just isn’t easy or convenient. If there is a way that feature could be added, that would make this program perfect, but I still love it.
Working with this software is like having an apprentice.
Hey I’m busy right now. Late June and July have been great! I’m booking clients on the job sites all through my Spectora app- even as I used the app to inspect a home. From the well thought out templates that make it easy for you to just touch a button to the live camera and picture option, no one is coming close to Spectora. No one! Take a picture of a leak or hole in the roof and it automatically lets you draw arrows to show the customer what you see! Or just select live camer action and shoot a video of the problem. My customers love it! There is sooooooo much more like the awesome customer service. They are patience with you even if you are not smart-like myself. I could go on but I got 4 jobs today and it’s already 6:20. I couldn’t do them without Spectora. They designed it for the inspector.
The Spectora reporting software makes my job so much easier. I’m able to take pictures and include everything in the report as I go through the Home. Using my mobile device and the text to speech I am able to get through homes quickly safe time get an accurate report and have photos to look at and everything I’m seeing for the Customer. Questioning whether or not it is right for you when I started I got five free inspections just to test out the software I got comfortable with it and after using it I could not go back to anything else. Basically I only gave 4 out of 5 because there is always room for improvement. On the other hand I absolutely love this software and the support that comes with it. I am less than a yr into the industry and I have tested the other big softwares but Spectora was the easiest for me straight from the start. I was first put off by the price but when you factor in what all it provides along with the customer service, it’s not bad at all. Customer service is extremely important to me and the spectora team has crushed it so far. Friendly, prompt, and they actually listen and try their to incorporate the things Inspectors want and need. The reports look professional and the streamlined automation benefit not only the client but the inspector and agent as well. The request builder has been a huge hit and I’ve got great feedback from agents. Definitely a good investment.
I had my old software and was not happy with the final product plus the system seemed outdated. It wasn’t necessarily “broke” so I was apprehensive to change up my software. I decided that my business was worth the investment so I bought Spectora and transferred my template. It needed some tweaking to conform to the new software but it was worth the time for sure. The software creates a modern looking report and saves considerable time writing the report. Best of all it has also become a marketing tool to show sample reports on my website and to give at realtor presentations. The adage of “What got me here won’t get me there” is what I kept in mind. My old software got me to become well known and get consistent business but Spectora will help me get to the next level!
These guys do a great job. Honestly, I’ve tried pretty much all the softwares out and there really is no comparison. Not even close. My customers and agents love it and it really sets my company apart. I honestly use it during my marketing trade shows or presentations and the agents are more attracted to this software then anything else. Spectora is my selling point and it sells with ease! The customer service is top notch too. I had a minor issue, wrote them right from the app and Kevin fixed it within 5 minutes. No lie. 5 minutes. When have you ever seen that in your life? I could go on and on here, but I honestly love this software and the staff that keeps updating and working hard to make it even better. Couldn’t be happier and I am glad I made this choice.
I’ve been using the Spectora software for my home inspection business for a while now. The software is very intuitive, and easy to use with customizable features that allow me to make it fit perfectly into my style of inspection flow. The reports are loved by all the clients and agents I work with due to their visually appealing and easy to read layout. Pictures you can clearly see and blow up if need be. Options for different reading formats like online or pdf. Clearly labeled and defined graphics make it look very professional. I cannot say enough about how happy I am with this product. Five very deserving stars!!
This software is awesome. It took some time getting used to it. But, the free reports they give you try out and 2 zoom calls later, I got it figured out. This software was intimidating to me because of how clean and nice the reports look. Once you dive in and get it set up the way you like it, it’s easy to use. I linked my phone to my computer so all my photos get put into the cloud. I get home and spend 1/2-1 hour finishing up the report on my computer. I’m sure there’s a faster way, but I’m a part time inspector and it works for me. My next step is to leave ISN. They have been great, but Spector is much easier to use. It’s all in one software.
Starting out my business I had a lot of other inspector recommend spectora. It was the best decision I have made. It helps run my entire business. I was able to get a great template and started adjusting things the way that worked for me. I am finishing 90% of my inspections on site and the clients and realtors love that. It allows them to walk around with the report after I leave and actually view the issues noted in the report. The spectora team is top notch with assistance and communication! I like that they take our feedback and suggestions and continue to improve the software based of what is inspector are wanting and needing changed. I highly recommend spectora!
Former long-term user of a competing popular inspection software, made the switch to Spectora at the beginning of the year. This was one of the best decisions I’ve made for my business. The software and companion app are refreshingly easy to use, the report is by far the best design out there. Clients and reps love it. I got my evenings back the very first week using it - very fast learning curve. As soon as I upgrade my thermal imager to one with WiFi, I’ll be completing reports on-site. Customer support from these guys is top-notch, never experienced anything close from other reporting companies. Switch to Spectora, you won’t regret it.
I am new to the industry but not new to technology. This is positively the best software on the market and I expect it to stay that way for a long time. The Spectora software has been absolutely amazing. As a new Inspector I was a bit overwhelmed when choosing what software to use. There are many options out there, but Spectora is easily the best. Everything syncs up while onsite, with multiple devices and is easy to fine tune on my laptop as well. I learned the app in about one day and it continues to improve. Customers can view there report immediately on any device and it doesn’t look like it’s from 1980. Online scheduling is great as well. But the Support team is the best part. You won’t find anything better.
The customer service has been outstanding. The software is cutting edge and with that there are growing pains, but I would expect that from a company that is always trying to grow with the users and expand the capability of their software and that of their clients. The one option I would like to see updated would be a customizable recommended contractor list that also defaulted to a common contractor such as in an electrical section it would default to an electrical contractor..... I feel Spectora is a family and I am glad to be a part of it. Great job all.
We have used several of the other big name softwares on the market. Spectora by far has been the best and easiest to use. We have many real estate agents complement us on the new look at the report and they love how simple it is to understand. The customer service with Spectora has been phenomenal they are quick to fix things and respond to questions we have. With three different inspectors in our company Spectora has been a huge timesaver and has eliminated many of the issues and headaches we used to have. This software has made on site reporting a reality.
I don’t understand any of these five star comments when this is the most cumbersome and slow moving software to date. I’ve had nothing but issues with this phone cannot understand why anybody would want to use this. I think some of the ideas have merit and yet poorly implemented. The latest update debacle was the last straw for me. It’s taken me five hours to write a report because of the glitches and extremely slow processing of this system. I would not recommend this
Spectora is more than basic inspection software. It is a sweet of tools designed exclusively for home inspectors. Everything from actual home inspection software, scheduling tools you can place on your website, metrics tracking, contact management, template design, contracts, etc. I tested a great many applications prior to choosing Spectora. It was hands-down the best management tool and delivered reports that my agent partners and clients absolutely rave about.

Spectora for the most part is a good platform for home inspections. However, if you are having issues within their platform that can’t be solved immediately you will be placed on the back burner. I’ve had email issues that are within their software and platform since June that haven’t been resolved to date. The only contact I have from them is if I initiate it and then the response is that the issue is with _____ . Not really the customer service I would expect from one of the most expensive inspection reporting platforms.
I am fairly new to home inspecting and I can’t imagine getting started without Spectora. My business is growing and I know from feed back from client and agents that the easy to read and beautiful reports have a huge impact on this reason . Sure it takes a combination off several different things besides the report itself to be a great inspector but if excellence is your goal Spectora is just the software company to be partnered with .
You would think that company’s like this would have a solid customer support program in place especially for new people. I was going to write a long review and cover the difficulty that a new person has with the software, it is NOT intuitive in anyway - and to schedule support days in advance is not convenient at all . There’s lots of other software companies clearly it must be worth something to investigate them now. Great job gang I heard so many positive things about Spectora but the customer care is absolutely horrible. No one has hours to sit and type out questions. a simple phone call a 60 second phone call would more than suffice. The software is great customer service is absolutely horrible if you’re an application whiz this is for you, if you Are a start up company and need some help, support and good old show me the ropes until you get it - this software Company is not for you!!!!! But of course we know this review will never see the light of day on the Internet and show up as a customer review!!!!!
Selecting Spectora as my business software was the best decision I made when I started my business. After using it for more than a year now, it has made my life as a business owner so easy. I hear other inspectors talk about working on reports all evening, not me. I have my reports published before I move on to my next inspection. I just do a final review and publish post inspection. In addition all of the automation built in takes care of all of my appointments, reminders, billing, reviews, etc.
I used a proprietary software from a franchise home inspection company previous that was web based and worked well... when switching to working on my own this was the only software from the many I tried that worked well for me. Very fast and easy to use and looks great for the client and agents. I spent the extra time to develop and set up my own template which was easy to do if you have an idea of how you want it to look.
Spectora is the best inspection software by a long shot. The automation for scheduling, agreements, payments and emails saves me so much time. The reports look great and save me tons of time on site. It is very easy to build templates and there are many useful tools built into the software that make it easy to duplicate comments and organize your report, even while on site. Highly recommend using Spectora if you want to bring your inspection company into the 21st century.

Recently switched to SPECTORA from another inspection software. Initially worried about the transition but SPECTORA is available to help at any point along the way. SPECTORA has allowed me to add another inspection in my day and still finish / publish a completed report with time to spend with my family in the evenings. The report is so detailed, customers are not calling with follow up questions.
I’ve used Tap Inspect and others. Spectora is better as it has a lot of features and handles a lot of the emails, text messages, etc. very well. It is a little clunky in my opinion and it locks up or restarts sometimes. I use it because of all the features that they offer, but it has plenty of room to improve. The customer service is top-notch. Couldn’t ask for more in that area. Overall, it is worth the money.
When I started my inspection business I the software was the most important part for me. I want to make sure I started out with a strong platform so that It would ensure success with my clients. Today there’s numerous times I’ve had clients talk about how great the reports are and is all due to the Spectora inspection software. And when I have needed support, the customer support team is the best I’ve ever had experience with.
While Spectora produces a good looking final report, what really matters is speed of input on site. It is not field friendly for inspectors. Switching among categories and comments has delays, and does not have much in the way of photo management. More problematic is building your personal template as some sections cannot be sorted or alphabetized for organizing. If you build some sections to be optional or vice versa, they cannot be toggled on and off. You will find yourself recreating and deleting more often which defeats the purpose of template building.
Hands down, without question, the BEST inspection software available today. Kevin and Michael and their staff work tirelessly to provide a seamless and easy to use and fully customizable report for inspectors, realtors and their clients. Total rock stars! If you want to grow your business by impressing clients and realtors and save yourself countless report writing hours in the process, there is no other logical choice out there!
I’ve been in business for six years and just switched to Spectora from another platform and could not be happier. The overall system with the advanced features is far superior to any that I tried. With the upsell features my average inspection cost went up to $200. I cannot say enough
This is a fantastic mobile app and generates sweet, modern reports from just the app or from a desktop (whichever way you like). The basics are easy enough to master, but to fine tune your inspection routine will take some time because it offers so many options. It’s worth it! I am a home inspector, and I did a bunch of research on different report writing programs. Spectora stood out among the other options to me because of the ease of use and modern looking design. I can finish about 80-90% of my report writing on site. The staff is friendly and solves my questions/concerns when they come up. Very pleased I chose to go with Spectora and I will continue to do so!
I have enjoyed the newer app over the last app. However there are still times where my screen will go white after taking a picture and then the app will crash. I also like the reinspection feature but would like to see a few changes such as importing the photos from the inspection as well as having a third option for the rating such as not inspected. Best reporting software I’ve ever used - but needs some refinement
This software is about 90% of the way to perfection. Just wish they would fix some really annoying things that we inspectors keep mentioning and are not addressed. Also missing a few simple things that have been missing for a while
Pretty decent software overall until they make you delete the Software template you’ve been using for the last three years because even though 95% of it your own at this point you based it off someone else’s template when you first started using Spectora. What does Spectora have to say about it? Sorry for your bad luck and not much else. We’ll show you how to rewrite your whole template and then you can have fun wasting a day or two doing that.
I’ve only been using the Spectora app for a couple months now and I haven’t fully committed to buying it.
