Perfect alternative to the other search engine apps
I downloaded Swisscows because I was sick of being tracked, advertised to, and generally cajoled into following the pre-ordained black holes of the internet algorithms that are so ubiquitous across Chrome, Safari and the other big ones. I just wanted to be able to make simple web searches for things like recipes, the news, or answers to encyclopedia-type questions. Swisscows has been perfect for that. My internet usage has rapidly diminished (according to my Screen Time reports) and I feel like the internet is now actually a good tool for me to use rather than the dangerous firebrand in my hands that it once was. Thank you Swisscows for simplifying the modern age. One note for users: most webpages and blogs these days have video ads, and on Swisscows those videos immediately pop out and have to be closed or minimized to return to the webpage. I actually don’t mind this feature, because I primarily use the app to reduce my internet use, and the annoyance of these pop outs makes me want to use it less, but it may be much more annoying to other users. Also, Apple, at this time, doesn’t support any interfacing with Swisscows, so you can’t click on links in iMessage and expect to open them in the app, or in Maps. Again, minor inconvenience that I actually see as a strength for my purposes, but that may discourage others from using Swisscows.
"The developer does not collect any data from this app." In this age of ubiquitous data collection, storage, transference and commodification, how refreshing it was to read that statement prior to downloading the SwissCows app. Even if the search engine was sub-par (which it's not), this practice of respecting its users data would, on its face, entice me to support SwissCows as much as possible. I first stumbled upon SwissCows through the advice of an expert in all things pertaining to privacy and data protection in this hyper-digital world we now find ourselves in. It was one of only TWO search engines he felt comfortable recommending to his audience - with the other being Brave Search - but having now used both engines, I feel confident that SwissCows is the superior of the two. SwissCows had the highest commendation from him for its transparency, privacy protection and respect for its customers and the often sensitive information they provide to these engines. Sure, there are things that could be improved upon - as with any search engine - but I am truly impressed by the product that the team at SwissCows have created. They have my support and will continue to do so as long as their engine remains honest, transparent and free from the typical data-harvesting techniques employed by the sociopaths at Google, SuckSuckGo, Bing, and the like. 5/5 Stars.
This is a really cool concept if I have a quick question or basic topic I want to search, but I still have to use the Google or Bing search engine if I want more thorough results for specific questions like for homework or hobbies. There’s also a really annoying issue with ads if I follow a link to a website that I don’t have a problem with using other apps/search engines. If I go to a blog, an article, a critic site or anything with ads (which is everything), the ads will automatically keep going full screen like a movie and completely block my view no matter how many times I click out of them or change cookie settings. Even if I scroll past any video ads on any site through a link I find with this app they still keep going into full screen mode over and over again and it’s extremely hard to view or scroll through any websites I find using Swiss Cow :( If I open the page in Safari, I don’t notice this problem, so idk why this is happening, but I hope something will change because I want to keep using Swiss Cow for certain censored topics.
This is a great app, and I love the private and family-friendliness of this app. There is only one way I have found that this app could be better—there is a loophole to get around the “family-friendliness” of the app, and that is to simply search for another search engine within the app, and then search for non-family-friendly content on that search engine. Would it be possible for y’all to make it so that the family-friendly filter applies to *all* searches within the app (not just those done by SwissCows search engine)? Thank you!
Kinda glad, the frustration of, rewording my question on google 13 times brought me to this search engine. I type my question (the original question to google) and it's the first result. If you miss how well google used to work this is a Godsend! You actually have to scroll away from what you searched for, to find the tangentially related topics, it's not the first 3 pages of results, then maybe its there.
I like Swisscows it’s a great private browser to use especially when your on public internet and works great with any VPN service. I also like Swisscows private email it’s a great product as well.
For a browser and search engine that keeps out all of the bad it does it very well only thing it doesn’t keep out are proxy sites but oh well it’s absolutely good in this regard. The only other issue it it doesn’t work for ones main browser as it can’t be set as the main browser and it can’t open multiple tabs but other than that stellar.
You can’t resize the search results with a simple pinch & zoom. I was searching for Memes and it blocked all search image results stating it was blocking violence & porn. My search had nothing to do with porn or violence so Swisscows is censoring you based on your search query. That is completely different than not indexing material off specific websites. There is no option to clear the browser when you close it so you have to do that manually every time. Last, it is just using a filtered version of Bing. But hey, at least you can buy a cool Swisscows mug, lol.
I've been using Swiss Cows for a few years and it has worked well for me in the past. However, now it's fallen off the pedestal. You can't open multiple windows or easily go to other sites. It's high key aggravating when it doesn't allow you to access another website it will ignore the site you're inputting and close out any attempts to open it. You aren't able to add bookmarks.
I'm a very liberal person from Texas, yes, we exist. I looked up Uvalde, Texas and found several Fox News, i.e. far right propaganda, and other MSM that just played along with the unchallenging rhetoric. These were towards the top of the search list and in the videos. I find this offensive. Fox News is a known propaganda sight for right wing extremists/terrorists. I searched for Michaelangelo's David. None of the pics showed the whole statue. This is ridiculous. Censoring art while allowing potentially violent inducing propaganda. Hypocrisy!
Not impressed. I’m still getting them all. Video’s start by themselves, then restart with every click. PopUps still occurring…. I’ve been trying this out for a week or so. Not that different from Google or Safari (among other ad jungle browsers). I’ll keep tweaking, but just having to do this speaks loudly.
So I tested the claim that this search engine was safe for families and kids, and it absolutely isn’t. I just try to set the search: girls kissing. On the first page, probably the fourth link it had a video of girls, a girl being, seduced in the bathroom, then as the two girls go into the stall to continue their make out, one was strangled to death and left slumped over on the public restroom floor, dead. Awesome. Can’t unsee that!
Used to be pretty good. Now it does not work at all. Gives a cryptic (unintelligible) message: “You’ve made too many requests in the last time.” What???? Sorry to see the site go down. I liked it. RIP
What I need it for is lacking. I have to have a search engine that has the capability to have bookmarks. This one didnt. It was useless to me. It was promptly deleted.
Very good important😁🤩 swisscows.com app 👍 website better for children safe or family safe 100% help block app must block porn ,nude than poor google poor bing can’t block websites weak open dirty images video not safe children still looking risking app 😵🤢🤮sick mind ruin bing.com , google disgusting website image videos not safe Wonderful 👍Swisscows app worth for family for kids, for children
