I use Temi to transcribe my videos and podcasts and the accuracy and speed of the service is astounding. The web based interface for error checking and corrections is one of the smoothest and well made web experiences I’ve seen. Overall I’m a huge fan of this company. I’ve saved enormous amounts of money from using them. This iPhone app is great for recording notes and uploading files to Temi’s servers. It works really nicely. The only two problems are: 1) It doesn’t display the library of recordings or transcriptions that I’ve uploaded from other devices. I can only see the recordings uploaded from this app. 2) I’d also like the ability to upload from files on the phone recorded on other apps or from Dropbox/iCloud Drive/ files app etc. These two changes would make it a full featured solution for creators on the go. Five stars for the service, four star for the iPhone app.
UPDATE: The most recent version of the app is a HUGE improvement. It solves every issue I had in my precious review below. I absolutely love Temi and am so glad they implemented these changes! ———- I love using Temi, and I use it multiple times per week for my job. However I do get annoyed with the lack of interconnectivity with the mobile app and the website. Mainly my issue is with the payment option. I have a credit I purchased from Temi since I prefer a few larger charges rather than a hundred small ones, but I’m unable to charge transcriptions to the credit from the mobile app. So if I record something on the mobile app, I can’t select my credit as a payment option when I transcribe. It defeats much of the purpose of purchasing the credit in the first place.
My corporate technology staff looked into the temi app today for me because there wasn't anyone at temi’s help desk that had the ability to intervene. I found that dictation to transcript was fair at best. Multiple requests for assistance were lame, incorrect or non existent. My browser was safari. My initial dictations were able to be sent from my phone to the office e-mail. The dictations from Friday, june 22, were unable to be transmitted. Everytime i had difficulty with temi, the resulting response from the help desk was to move to another browser, chrome. I did as directed, but the dictation couldn't be sent from that browser either and the message from temi was the same, difficulty encountered, try later. I will not be able to recommend this app to any of my colleagues or anyone looking for a dependable, efficient dictation to transcript service. Temi is not it. There is mo number to use as a rating of this service for a health care provider.
I have a number of writing projects that I wanted to set into motion based on video and audio recordings that I had and I didn’t look forward to transcribing all of that media. Temi has allowed me to jump start the process and greatly accelerate my progress with a high degree of accuracy. Because my recordings are in a church setting with a lot of congregation feedback, the transcripts can be a little choppy at times but Temi has done a good 90% of the work that I would have had to do myself in a fraction of the time. With the mobile app, I can take the transcript directly into Scrivener and begin editing. This product can only get better and I look forward to being a customer for a long, long time.
After some use I was pretty impressed. Im usually hesitant to use AI. But this added colons in places where I needed them. Not in every place but just the fact that it did accurately put colons in certain places is pretty impressive. Looking forward to the speech rec service improving even more. In general I love how the app is simple to use and really smooth. At first I was worried if everything I recorded got transcribed but actually you have the option to hear the audio first, send to transcribe right away, or just save it to transcribe later. This is definitely gonna replace the default Voice Memos app on my phone.
I have tried Temi via Safari, not via this app. The transcription service is by far an away the best I’ve tried. I use it to transcribe lengthy, dictated chapters of books and it does a fabulous job—more accurate than Dragon and more usable and reader (and private) than Otter. For now, I have to use my pre-existing Dragon, but if I can afford something else someday, I will use Temi. When I do use it, it saves me time and delivers much more readable, editable text with less effort and no bugs. I love it.
I tried Temi but found that it made several errors, more than I had expected or experienced with another popular dictation service. After deciding to delete the app I looked for a way to delete my account and found nothing. I emailed the company and was informed there was no way users or even support could delete my information! Given the rate of security breaches we see these days it’s entirely objectionable that a company doesn’t offer a simple way for people who choose to no longer use their service to be able to have their personal information deleted. I complained that this was unacceptable and was later informed that a manager had manually deleted all my information. However, I still get their emails so it would seem they are either not telling the truth or unable to understand my simple request. This isn’t a free app where there’s an implied understanding that my data is partly the price I pay for ‘free’ things, so in my humble opinion there’s no excuse for Temi to not offer a way of deleting personal information.
Signed up and did a free trial. It worked really nice and the turnaround time was about 2-3 minutes for an 8-minute mp4 file. There were several errors that I could easily and efficiently fix using their Web editor. Speakers were identified as Speaker 1, Speaker 2 etc. but several were misidentified as Speaker 3, 4, etc when there were only 2 speakers! The editing tool makes it really easy to fix them, though. Note: this review is for an existing file I had that I uploaded rather than first recording audio using THIS app.
I have severe carpal tunnel and can’t write as fast as I’d like. Temi transcribing for me is great. I do have to correct some things (names, places, punctuation) and I have a lisp so some words don’t come across as I’d hope. But as I usually edit what I transcribe always it’s not much of a hassle to go through and fix things. I was also impressed with how fast the transcription is! Took about 3 mins to transcribe a 45 minute voice note and only cost $4.60. Worth the saved hassle of typing out all I said!
I use this app daily, but I miss being able to name the recording
As a freelance journalist, I use this app almost daily. I love it and it is by far the most accurate transcription and recording app out there. I do miss the feature of being able to title the recording within the app however. I know you can change the name of the recording through the desktop version, but I really wish the developers could return the ability to do it within the app.
This is my first time using any transcription service for my research- I’m not certain if I save a ton of time because I have to correct quite a few errors, but I am getting the hang of it and realizing I may not need every single word to be perfect in order to get decent results during coding and analysis. The one thing I’d say that has frustrated me so far is the inability to sync your Temi app with the desktop content- so I could potentially listen to an interview while I’m walking or Jogging etc.
This app could be very useful. I got one transcription for free but didn’t see anything about how much future transcriptions would be. They are apparently twenty five cents per min BUT are transcribed by AI and the accuracy isn’t worth the cost, especially when you can get unlimited transcripts for a monthly flat fee thru several other apps. Although I have found other apps that charge per min, they have been less than half the cost per min and most are transcribed by humans and more accurate. If this app had an unlimited monthly flat fee it would likely be worth it, but with the per min charge I would not recommend to anyone.
I am a Phd student with auditory processing issues. I have searched for months for a live transcription app that doesn't cost an arm or a leg. This app allows me to record what my proffesors are saying so that I can read instead of asking them to repeat what they just said. I looked EVERYWHERE for something like this. Do yourself a favor get this for live transcriptions. It has changed my life.
I’ve only Dabbled around with this a couple times , but I can tell you are going to be helping me quite a bit in the future. I think you guys for being here or you are awesome you are on target most of the time in that is wonderful. I am open to job offers if you are ever in need, I would not mind working for this company , just as much as I’ve seen so far. best of the best I like it. Keep it up Goooo Temi!
I’ve only used this once (to record and transcribe a conversation between four people) but based on the success of the first use, I plan on using it again. The transcription was clean and fast, even correctly identifying and spelling very specific terminology. I’m sure there are limitations that might make this app less suitable for some research or legal applications, but this is an awesome tool jay I plan on using for a long time.
I’m a user and proponent of Temi on the web. So when I saw there was an app, I thought, “Awesome—I can edit and review some of my longer and more complex transcriptions on the go.” NOPE. This app doesn’t actually sync with your account. If you record in the app (or upload audio), it will go to the web. But it will not pull your web audio into the app. In other words, they built this app with deliberately crippled sync services. Those of us with transcriptions on the web client should get credits to re-upload our interviews through the app so that they can be available in both places.
Overall, I am pleased with the app. I give it a ‘4’ rating as it is missing ‘sufficient use’ instructions. When listening to a recording I have not found a way to activate a macro control for easy rewind and relisten to the recording. It appeared once, but I cannot find out how to reactivity it. Also, as I have tried to contact the developer, no response yet after 24 hours... not good!
I just tested a 53 Minute mp3 upload of a conversation I recorded with a client. Not only can I hear the recording through Temi perfect, more importantly the transcription is unbelievably accurate! Oh, and extremely fast...I timed it on my stopwatch (yes, I wanted to know how long it took) and it was complete in 6:15. Lastly...at .10 cents per minute? Are you kidding me? Wow!!! I’d give 6 stars if I could. I’ll be using this ALL the time.
Have only used it twice but so far has done a great job of not losing my data and giving me pretty decent transcriptions for the price. The editing software is really easy to use. I’ve done two interviews that we’re about 30 minutes a piece and the app handled both great. Doesn’t drain my battery or take a long time to upload.
Good chunks but need a control panel. Something like your intro bullets but arranged in a list. Eg . Record sound . Transcribe . Edit transcription . Compose email : options to attach note, transcription, recording, photos with added caption. . Ok to send When ready, panel appears. When selection is made task list changes to current task label. When task completes, panel reappears. When no further tasks needed, go to done, ready for another record. This would make finding a task path simpler...Sometimes can’t find how to go to next step. Want to use in warehouse inventory where each item is a record and may include photos in a report. How do you pronounce TEMI? Team eye, tee me, temm mee...? John DeTore
The tool is nice, I like the features and capabilities. I am an iPad pro user and editing the copy on iPad is not smooth. Very difficult to edit text because after a few edits when tapping on a new word to edit - the editing location is locked on the previous word and I’m unable to see the blinking line (icon) indicating where I am currently editing. Please update this experience.
I know there are other transcription apps but I haven’t tried them yet. Temi has blown my mind. Super accurate transcription even with sloppy pronunciation. Amazing at auto punctuation. Lightning fast turnaround time. Super reasonable pricing. And LOVE the feature on desktop that allows you to listen to the audio recording and edit text simultaneously. Genius. Killer app by Team Temi!
Temi has an amazing service - record and hit a button to get a transcript. The site has an intuitive editor after they produce the file in 5minutes! Quality is clearly affected by background noise, but if I can record in a quiet place it does surprisingly better than any speech rec service I have tried.
Temi has helped me conduct job interviews, capture meeting notes and even send audio messages to friends and family. It is super easy to use, and the transcripts are pretty accurate and cost-effective. I have recommended it to a dozen people and everyone loves it!
Not as good as it used to be. There does not seem to be a way to name files anymore and that makes it difficult to keep track of them. I am an author and use the software often for transcription. The transcripts are not being as useful for writing purposes as there is a lower quality.
I Before I even got started I asked what the fee was going to be, they gave NO REPLY. So I got started. Worked on my project a couple of hours. As I was finishing two .30 amounts popped up. So I thought goodness that’s the least I could do. I went to my credit cards and now there were 2 $30 charges. I was furious and wrote a memo to whom ever, because there were no contacts. I called my bank immediately.
I tried the free trial and I am totally impressed. I can't wait to learn how to use the additional capabilities this program offers like editing and saving while you're listening. Downloading it. Totally impressed I'm definitely going to be using a lot in the future. Thank you
Im a college student and re-listen to my classes for notes and don’t have money to translate on this app but i can hear the recording clearly to where I don’t have to translate at all! I recommended this app to several people because it became a lifesaver on many occasions.
Won’t give it more than 1 star until it has an UPLOAD feature
I am a podcaster and need to be able to have my audio uploaded to Temi in order to do my notes, quotes and give my audience the option to download the transcript. As a transcription and recording device for one speaker, I’m sure it is fine, but it will not be of any use to me until it has an “upload from” feature. Best would be to upload from Google Drive or Dropbox. Until then, 1 Star it is.
I am using this for a journal I am keeping about restoring my fathers house it is a great tool and relieves me of the burden of being your computer. I have been able to post entries every day while I am driving. I think the price is quite reasonable at $.10 a minute. Good idea.
I’ve tried many different transcription services, and this is the one! Incredibly inexpensive immediately fast with the ability to refer to your origin video or audio source to verify transcription. I’m transcribing everything now! What an awesome resource!
It’s worth every single penny. After years of having carpal tunnel, it’s refreshing to finally found an app that allows me to quickly turn meetings into meaningful notes.
Who has time to listen to past audio and video events? Ah—no one! Thats right, no one! But who wants and often needs to get feedback and mine these assets to produce greatness? Everyone!!! Temi produces workable text product from video and audio recordings. Price is right, quality is right!
When i record myself talking the playback is so poor I cant make out what im saying. Other recordings or phone calls are fine. I discovered the issue to be with Bluetooth so it works fine not using Bluetooth. Other recording apps work fine using the same BT device.
I would love to love this app, but it falls short of what could be a serious breakthrough. Temi has trouble distinguishing women's voices, accents, a bunch of words and phrases. The time it takes for me to fix the issues is not worth the savings in transcription costs. Hopefully they will improve the offering. In addition, the app claims 100% satisfaction, but I have requested money back for a few of absolutely botched transcripts and have gotten no response. Odd to say the least.
Even spelled out ophthalmology. Detected multiple speakers. Amazed at the accuracy for a fully ASR service. Best one I've tried. Am going to start using it for personal needs to (eg dictate notes while i am walking around).
Beautiful app and great web interface, especially for cleaning up the transcript while listening/viewing the original recording. I’m telling all my friends and colleagues!
The app works ok. Who can complain about .10 per minute?Would be nice if after registering that your transcripts would sync between devices. Instead I have different transcripts on different devices. Will upgrade when this is fixed.
I’ve been searching for a product like Temi for years. This is a great product that has saved me time and money. Very quick turnaround and very little cleanup needed on transcripts.
I had the same problem as someone else who wrote a review, the problem of which I misspelled my email and I couldn’t fix it so I couldn’t sign in. Also I was trying to download an important audio recording that I did in the app and I can’t even do that. I don’t want to risk deleting the app and losing those recordings, I’m a little disappointed on the way this app is set up.
This is incredible. This app takes recorded conversations and turns it into written text. It’s unbelievable how accurate it is too. This is game changing for memos and conversations I need documented
The app does not sync with the files I uploaded onto my account. Also, it does not orient itself to how my iPad is: I work on my iPad like a laptop and the app does not adjust from portrait (I would have to tilt my head to read the text even if the files would upload). In contrast to this, I like the online version of this service: Cheap and good job at transcription with nice editing tools.
Doesn’t work in landscape mode, which is ridiculous in 2018, especially for an app of particular interest to iPad Pro users. When I use the Temi site, it keeps insisting I go through a tour, over and over, which is maddening. On the plus side, the quality of the transcription seems quite good.
So this system works well for fast cheap transcription. Makes the same mistakes your phone does transcribing voice messages. If you want to edit and fix the transcription, do NOT try and use an iPad, safari, or a Mac. Temi stinks on that platform. And the app is worthless. 🙁
Pro: - Temi is a good service at a fair price - Pretty simple - Clean app UI design - Seems stable in my limited use Con: - Only works in portrait mode on my iPad. :/ (Which means one must remove ones iPad from its keyboard case or read everything sideways) - Want to transcribe a podcast or video? No upload for you If you are familiar with the Temi website, this is about 50% of the the functionality. Limited recommendation for direct voice transcription. Does not allow audio/video file upload with the iOS app.
