Great for productivity tracking!
I’ve found the free version of Toggl worth using (over other free alternatives) for over five years: - Just a couple taps on my screen each workday have given me years of data and actionable insight about my productivity (or lack thereof). For example, I spend *way* more time on bureaucratic stuff than I would have guessed. (When I gave this information to my superiors, the sometimes look for ways to cut down on bureaucracy, which is a win for everyone!) - Once in awhile someone needs to know how much of my time is spent on certain activities. Without a tool like Toggl, my guesses would likely be way off (see the prior point). With Toggl, I can often give an accurate estimate of *absolute* time spent on a project or class of projects. I can also accurately estimate the *relative* percentage of my time that projects consume. I often think about what I’d do if the free Toggl features were paywalled. I’m almost certainly stop using the app because there are others apps and other ways to track time for free (e.g., the native screen time tracking that syncs across all my devices). If Toggl ever needs more revenue, I recommend they go to employers and funding agencies to show them the value it can provide them. Only at scale (as opposed to the individual level) does the app provide enough value to justify paying for it.

The only time tracker that’s worked for me!
So glad I found this app! I have NEVER been someone who enjoyed the idea of tracking their time, probably because nothing else ever stuck before, but when it become more necessary and I had to find a way, Toggl has been the first system I’ve stuck with now for months! The two stand out things for me are it’s simplistic straight to the point functionality (there isn’t all this fancy fluff to be a distraction, though it still looks nice), and the very helpful idle time reminder that means you don’t have to remember to clock in and out meticulously, if you get up from your work and forget to time out, it will separate that time and ask you when you come back if it should count that time or not! That has been a game changer for me! Also it has a helpful nudge to remind you to track your time if you happen to forget to start tracking. Being able to sync seamlessly across the work on my devices and on my computer is fantastic and the again simple interface that lets me categorize my work in an easy to see manner has been great! Thanks for making this app!

Simple Productivity Tracker
The free version provides great multi-platform use for someone like me who doesn’t own a freelancing business and, as such, doesn’t need the capability to export billing documents or whatever to receive pay. I just use it to track how much time I spend studying, completing homework, and writing reports for each of my classes so that I have an overview and graph of what subjects I focus the most on. Seeing the numbers of hours worked on each subject helps motivate me to continue to keep my bar graphs high, and the timer function is much easier than imputing your own time into something like Google Sheets if you want to see graphs of your productivity. The ease of use is superb and simplicity of the app’s aesthetics is pleasing to the eye as well. It doesn’t look cheesy and that’s another big plus. There are also browser extensions and desktop applications for people who want to track their time offline. And the app itself also helps you track your workflow without a connection, then syncs when you’re connected to the internet. A+ job!

Great app, annoying time entry
Update: not sure if the developer response stays after I edit review. The response states I can enter the time directly without using number selection wheels. I’ve tried and tried but can’t get a keyboard to come up and am still forced to select use a selector wheel to set the the hour and minute of the time. I went to the support page to try and ask what they meant. However, there’s no way to contact the developer. There’s a button that looks like you can start a chat or send a message but it doesn’t work. Love this app for time -tracking - 1st time I’ve successfully managed to track my time to the granular level. There is one huge annoyance - I frequently add time entries after the fact. The wheels for entering the time have several frustrating built-in error prevention features that make it challenging to enter the correct time unless you do it exactly the right way and don’t accidentally land on an ineligible time on the way spinning the wheel. Have course the documentation but can’t find a way to turn this off and just type

i love toggl!!!
i was recommended toggl when i started working as a graphic design contractor and needed to track my hours and keep an organized log of all my projects. toggl does that perfectly for me. it works across multiple devices really well, i use it on my iphone, macbook, and ipad, and the mobile app is great for figuring out how much i need to be paid. it has a calendar feature where you can mark which days you’d like to see hours for, i usually do the current pay period so i can report my hours to my boss and it’s super convenient to do it from my cell phone. you can also filter by project which i love. if my boss asks me how much i’ve worked on a single project, i can easily check using the helpful filters :) if you’re a freelancer, contractor, or anyone who juggles multiple projects at a time, GET TOGGL. i have nothing bad to say about it after using it for about a year. it is genuinely one of the best apps i use for work. thank you toggl for existing, i love you ❤️

Full of glitches
I couldn’t synchronise the app in my iPhone 13 with my app in MacBook Pro (macOSVentura) or the website app, they just counted the time independently! As the two apps would not keep their synchronisation, I signed out of my app in IPhone and when I logged back in I realised that I had lost all the entries that I had been adding in the last couple of days. However, as I logged in again and the iPhone app synchronised with the older data in the Macbook app, the counters in the website or the desktop app kept running independently, so, if I switched off one of them, the other would keep going, even if I refreshed the website. It also happened that in my iPhone app I could not get any report anymore, it said that my data were empty, although the calendar and the time tracker did have entries. I also had problems with the calendar: every little touch on the screen dragged the activities around and changed the starting/ending times, and there seems to be no possibility to “undo” the action. I am very disappointed with this app and I started to use Clockify, which is incredibly similar, has a better design style, no synchronising problems between devices and none of the other problems I experienced with Toggl.

To the penny! I Get Paid What I Earned Now!
As an independent consultant and advisor, I am regularly charging less for my time than I should be because I multi-task projects so I used to jot start and end times but then I’d have to think about any breaks I took or calls that should be billed to someone else. Let’s say that I have shorted myself many times, until I discovered Toggl! Now I can stop a project and instantly switch to another project or even a different client in seconds. I click the start the timer button and then I click stop and jump over to the next project or go back to the client and project I was working on before the interruption. I can then start the timer again and it picks up where I left off. Not only am I ensuring that I get paid appropriately but I also have very professional reports of the client’s name, the project name, time spent on each of their projects and then tags that provide explicit detail of what I was doing with the time being billed. Clients love receiving these reports because it gives them an idea of what is involved in a service and how much time it can take some like myself with more than 25 years of experience. So if they pawn it off to someone that charges less they usually end up having me redo the work and give them advice for future activities that are on their horizon. Love this app! I tell others about it regularly but I’m also kind of selfish. I don’t want everyone to use my competitive advantage.

Love the app. Needs a restructure
I love Toggl, and will keep using it because it has everything I need. I write this review as a suggestion to the developers. I truly think the app needs a complete overhaul. They need to make it easier, its a bit finicky. Its easy to accidentally do many things you dont intend to do, and then not notice. Using the Timery app as an example, that app runs way better than the Toggl app. Toggl on browser runs way better than the Toggle app too. The app needs some quality of life updates, mirror the website if need be. Make a menu to create, edit, add, remove projects and tags like on the website. Make it easier to notice when you accidentally start/end a timer. Make it easier to adjust how much time you've been working on a timer, if you forgot to start it. As I said, Toggl is great, I just wish that they would make the app a bit better. I see myself using toggl on browser way more now that I found out about it, ive always used the app before this.

THE BEST APP FOR TIME TRACKING
This is by far THE Best app for tracking time! I’ve been using it for over 2 years and when I started I tried several options - none of them came close to the ease of use and functionality of Toggl. Best of all they have lots of useful features and you get access to many of them even on their free tier. I couldn’t recommend an app more! Is it perfect? Nope nothing is! The iOS and Mac apps are great, it supports iOS Shortcuts which I LOVE and the web app/website is really good too. On PC I use it in Chrome. For me the only things I wish it did better was 1) showing percentage of time. No option for that which is surprising and 2) connectivity to data analytics tools for beefier analytics/deeper insights, trends, and combining with other data. There is no easy way to get the data flowing into Tableau for example and the CSV exports aren’t in the best format for analytics (the time/date fields need conversion etc)

Love it! But…
I really love this. I use it as my time tracker for all of my client’s hourly projects. I even use a filtered view and export the “reports” feature every month to accompany my invoices for added transparency to my clients. I really feel like that helps build rapport on a monthly basis with minimal effort (which is important since I’m an independent contractor and don’t have anyone in payroll). The one thing I was hoping would be a little more useful is the “insights” feature. I upgraded to use this feature and was hoping for more of a growth projections type tool but it seems to be a little thin especially if you have no employees. I still see it’s value for someone that has employees or additional contractors on an project but it’s unfortunately not very useful otherwise. if there was a way to input expenses or integrate with quick books for actual profitability and growth trends then that would be super useful.

Thought this was great, was mistaken.
I meticulously tracked most of my time on my first day with this, and thought I was in love. Big Problems defeat the purpose. On my my summary page there is a % for a project with no name, but that entry is not listed anywhere so I can add a project name to it after checking the tags - it has just disappeared, but it is still showing up in my summary and there’s no way to edit it. It lets you archive project names, but not see them or un-archive them or even know if there is still time attached to them to attribute with a different name before archiving. And the very reason I am writing this review, rendering this app (heartbreakingly) useless to me: on the calendar page in the app, it’s impossible to scroll without accidentally changing the time on previously recorded time and there’s no undo option, so there’s no way to fix it unless you’ve previously memorized all of your increments. And if you can do that, you probably don’t need this app. Without reliable numbers, it’s just a waste of time. So, so disappointing.

A New Revelation in Time Tracking!
I was looking for alternative time tracking apps over the years, but was never able to settle on one; that is, until I came across this app. The very fact that this app allows for tracking time on all the Apple platforms (Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad and Mac) seamlessly is a big plus. The syncing between all of them has been spot-on thus far, and the simplicity of starting and ending a timer is also good. And, with the three different "layers" of classifying tasks (in terms of Task Description, Project, and Client) is causing me to think even more purposefully about what I'm doing. Lastly, with the ability to really look into the data that is being accrued (even via the fourth layer of detail, which is tags), that definitely is a plus as well. The only things I would suggest to the makers of this app is that 1) the web features need to be integrated into the actual Mac app directly (instead of having to access the web portal via a link in the Mac app); as a result, all of the data accrued can really be managed and analyzed by the end user even more effectively. Also, 2) the data analysis also needs to be more fully integrated into the iPad and iPhone apps. Other than that, I must say that this is truly a great app that the makers of Toggl have created. I look forward to using this app for the foreseeable future.

Time Tracking at its absolute best
Toggl is not only the best free time tracking app, it is the best time tracking app. I’ve been obsessed with time management from most of my life, and have used day planners, calendars, E calendars, worksheets, Excel, etc. recently I’ve tried the majority of the major time tracking application that are available and Toggl is by far the absolute best in class. Incredibly simple, intuitive, fast and amazingly effective. This is not a replacement for my calendar, this is an important and highly effective tool for finding out where life‘s minutes hours and days actually go. The reports are extraordinarily valuable as are the projects and hashtags. More than a time tracking app, this is a life management device on so many levels. Thank you for creating such a beautifully designed, sophisticated interface that in its simplicity has added value to my life!

Best Productivity App
I’ve tried similar apps before but this one has a few features that I particularly appreciate: 1) Both mobile and desktop sync incredibly seamlessly! I track my time all day so when I am doing personal stuff (sleep, chores, etc.) I like to track that using my phone. But if I am doing school or work it’s best if my phone is no where near me. 2) Being able to lump things by projects and then view time spent on selected projects. I use this to try and improve my work/life balance so being able to see how much time I’ve spent on projects related to work per week is super informative. 3)Built in Pomodoro that automatically tracks?!? Need I say more!! 4) Flexible tasks names! I can use this to be descriptive about what assignment I am working on but lump it under a “project” (or class). Other similar apps sort by name so I have to use the same name for each task if even if the activities are quite different. 5) It’s simple. It’s not trying to push things onto or suggest you to do XYZ. It simple lets you record what you are doing. 6) It’s super easy to change around time slots or fix time slots if you need to back track or left a timer running. 7) Really small but on the browser version it asks “What have you done?” which always sounds so ominous/dramatic and it brings me a lot of amusement.

Best FREE time management app
It’s a genuinely free app. Hasn’t bothered me to spend $1.99 on an in app purchase to get full functionality of the app (as far as I’m aware) and compared to another time blocking app, this is way better. Not only is it a great app, it has genuinely improved my time management skills so much within the first weeks of using it. Time blocking can be daunting at first, so if you’re interested in it, I would recommend not being too strict with yourself at first, but this app has genuinely increased my productivity. Love that there’s a pomodoro timer built in too. My only critique is that the calendar is very janky when trying to move events around and it can be difficult to use the time sliders to adjust the start and end times of events after they’re set. But props to the developers, thank you for making a genuinely free app that has improved my life.

ADHD Savior
I really struggle with being unable to break hyperfocus to the detriment of my health and wellbeing (I forget to eat), and I also struggle with time management. I work FT and study FT, so this is going to help me so much in the weeks to come as I build better habits to navigate a lot on my plate. I’ve quickly been able to jump in and the platform was very intuitive. I love that this will be able to replace the manual time logging that I was doing before, and I can use this at work/school/and home. That may not have been the original intention, but it’s a fantastic timesaver itself. I’m also excited to see it is able to integrate with platforms that I use at work as well. I just started using this a few hours ago and have learned as I go, but I have a few pieces of critical feedback that would help neurodivergent folks even more: -On-Device Mac Widgets for Pomodoro and Track -Cross-Device Pomodoro sync -Apple Watch Pomodoro I intend to use this to track everything from chores, assignments, and work tasks in one project to better assist me in reclaiming time and establishing a true baseline for time per task so I can implement time blocking properly. This would help me ensure that I am successful at that no matter which device I have on-hand. Thank you for creating something I didn’t know existed or that I needed desperately!

I love it for my small business!
This works extremely well for logging hours for my small business. I use the free version both for tracking my own hours and for a few employees to clock in and out. When it comes time to invoice clients it’s a cinch run a report and have all the hours I need to bill for. I use the tag feature to record which hours have already been invoiced. One small change that would make this app even more fantastic is if there were an option when running reports to select all entries that do not have a particular tag. (i.e. not tagged “invoiced”). Overall a superb app, I love that I can track my hours on the go using my phone and my employees can do the same. If I forget to start or stop a timer I can always edit the entries at the end of the day. This app has saved tons of time and ensured that I’m billing accurately. I love it!

Works great. API is fantastic
Pros: A free app with this much functionality?! Hard to believe. I love that it records the actual time of day for start and stop, not just the elapsed time. The ability to set clients and projects is very useful. Having a Mac app and iOS app make this great for a freelancer like me who is often on the go. Tracking application use on the Mac makes it really easy to see the time to start a forgotten timer. Last, the API is fantastic. I use it to sync to my accounting app for reporting. Cons: Sync between mac and ios could be a little crisper. It's annoying that I can't adjust the start time using the little time wheel until a time entry is complete. Other little things like that. Summary: Great app with no complaints. I only use the free version, but I am thinking of paying to invoice when my other subscription is up.

A lot of room for improvement
I understand the app covers a wide range of use scenarios. Personally, I only use it on my phone to track work time. The most aggravating part is that if you work late at night, the app doesn’t know which day to assign it to, and even assigns it differently in different parts of the app! For example, today I worked three hours before midnight on January 31st. But they appear on February 1st when you look at hours clocked over the week! This is extremely aggravating. Consistency would be good, but even better would be the option to set, say, 5am as the day cutoff, so late night work appears on the night it was performed. The app is also a little tricky to use with the projects and tasks. I would love a drop down for me to be able to select tasks again and then measure based on task. The user experience is poor with this regard, instead requiring you to either find where you performed the task before or guess by entering the task again. Not ideal. Finally, the perf is bad and sometimes things don’t load at all. A little bit of work could probably go a long way on this app.

Workspace management is poor
Deleting a personal workspace and then creating a new one is a confusing and frustrating experience if you only have a phone. It’s not a process even available within the app, and without a workspace the app becomes non-functional until a new workspace is created through the web app (settings become inaccessible, there’s no way to log out, the prompt to create a new workspace doesn’t open anything, and uninstalling and reinstalling doesn’t log the user out). I shouldn’t have to dig through a web app that only displays correctly in landscape view (with unlabeled buttons I assume I would hover over to read) to manage an account I only created and use from my phone. All settings could be part of the app, or at least easily linked to from the app in a mobile friendly UI, and those settings could be accessible even if the user doesn’t have a workspace set up. I hope that’s on the development roadmap.

Honestly it’s pretty difficult to understand
I’m not dumb by any means, and I could probably take the time to really understand it if I cared that much. It shouldn’t be this complicated. I use it because i do different freelance projects and need to time myself to get paid. Sometimes I accidentally start the time when i’m just trying to check the project, sometimes I forget to stop it because there’s no indication that it’s still running when you go off the app(which i think that would be a helpful feature, I wanted to edit my end time because I forgot to turn it off and I can’t figure out how to do that, etc etc. I feel like I need an extensive manual for something that should be so cut and dry easy. I don’t understand why there is projects and tags? It’s too much to understand. I try to use it the best I can but I try not to touch any of the features too much so I don’t mess anything up. I like that it groups my project up and adds the time together and shows me the calendar of tracked time but it’s a finicky app for sure and needs to be simplified.

Love the design but wish more functionality was available in the Apple Watch app
In my opinion, Toggl is one of the most beautiful unique looking apps. The entire aesthetic is consistent and very distinguishable but at the same time fits well enough with the current iOS design language that it doesn’t look off. Incredible job keeping that balance! The only thing I wish were different is the Watch app: a lot of the time as a person with ADHD I try to put my phone away while doing tasks and use solely my watch. And unfortunately Toggl’s app there is not stable enough (I regularly see the screen that asks me to sign in on my phone again even though I never logged out) and doesn’t have some of the features such as the ability to set pomodoro sessions. I hope you’ll be able to enhance the watch experience in the future updates! Thanks for everything folks!

Love this app to keep track of my time!
This app was introduced to me by a mentor. Before this app, I never know how much time I spend on studying, you know, time flies very quickly when you accidentally move your attention to something else that’s more fun than studying. So Toggl really helped me as if I need a break, I pause it. Then come back when I am ready. It’ll sum up the time you spend on whatever you are doing on that day so that you actually know how much time you put yourself into the work. After been using this app for at least a month now, I would ask my friend, “did you really study for a long time on #{some_day}?” , if they say yes, I then ask, how long did you study? The answer would always be IDK. Lol To be able to see how much TIME I’ve actually put myself into studying, the more encouraging I am to keep it consistent everyday. I really love this app!

It’s wonderful!
I have bluebird as well and I wish bluebird adopted what toggle has: frictionless time logging. I just click enter, boom it starts counting the seconds. I click stop, BOOM IT STOPS. I like that it syncs very quickly, and that it shows a little widget without me asking. Promote whomever was in charge of the fonts for this because it’s somehow the least gritty font I’ve interacted with in a looooong time. What Id like in terms of improvement is, if I’m syncing toggle into calendar, I want toggle to create/mark the tasks I’ve done using toggle, in google calendar. I want those blocks of time in my calendar so I can look at it, instead of toggle, and see just how much I’ve actually achieved. Toggle is/would be the statistics engine of time used, google calendar would be the qualitative measure of time used in the week/month etc.

Great service, great app.
I use this on a few devices and I really enjoy it. I don’t use it for billing, but more just to keep track of how I spend my time. Reading books, playing video games, excercising and working. My main gripe with the app used to be the modal way that the new time entry button worked. Tap to start a timer and hold to create and entry. You could swap those functions but having them both on the same button, and that setting not syncing between devices, I would often do the unintended thing. I really like that the app has been updated to have two separate buttons now. My only problem any longer is that sometimes the widget display is out of sync. I can imagine this being a very tough nut to crack, actually, and think the way widgets work may be more to blame here.

Amazing!
I use it to track my Upwork time on my iPad. It’s great because it has the actual time and I can have projects for each of my clients, I can edit and add a hashtag #added after I actually add the time into Upwork so there’s never any confusion on what needs added and I use the notes to add to my memo so I never forget what I was working on! I added the widget to my iPad on the Home Screen in landscape mode and in portrait mode I just added a shortcut so I could easily open it and start adding time. I also love that I can use it on my phone too and it syncs perfectly so even if I need to reply to an email or check something while on the go I’m not loosing out on time tracked. I also love that while a timer is running it shows up on the notification or Home Screen so I never forget to stop it!

Most thoughtfully designed time tracker I’ve used
Toggl’s biggest strength over other time trackers is the low overhead involved in starting, stopping, and editing tasks. The interface is quick and responsive and rarely leads me to make mistakes. It’s a slick, judgment-free, neutral experience that’s forgotten as quickly as it’s over. Low overhead is important to being able to make it a habit, and making Toggl a habit has changed my life! Being able to see where my time goes helps me be more productive and prioritize tasks better. As someone who’s easily distracted, setting a timer for myself helps keep me on task. I even use it on the weekends, just to see how much time goes to watching TV vs being outdoors or other enriching activities. If you’ve ever wanted to track and reclaim your idle time, at work or otherwise, Toggl is perfect for you.

Incredible! But keep it simple.
I started using Toggl six months ago and it is such a fantastic addition to my life. I'm such a data-driven human, so seeing charts, graphs, and statistics on my everyday life is so powerful. I have improved my time management skills, motivation, and have been able to more accurately communicate how I spend my working hours. I use it both at the office and at home. I recommend to absolutely everyone who will listen. My only advice is to keep it simple. I began trying to write a little description for each project and session and I became frustrated and considered not using Toggl at all. But then I switched to limiting my projects to broad categories like "To-Do List", "Email", and "Exercise". Greatest decision ever. Since making that change, I have used it everyday as though it was second-nature.

Toggle Track in apple watch
I bought the apple watch exclusively to use this app. When I downloaded, it didn’t work. I posted a review and they ‘fixed it’. I put the ‘’ because it crashes almost 50% of times. The apple watch app is terrible. It only works with the mobile phone, so if you want to use it you need to have your mobile phone near you, which is esentially what I wanted to avoid with the apple watch, to be more focused. At the end, this app is a productivity and time management time in some way. For me, you could throw to the been the apple watch app. If you make an app that works independently to the phone’s one with the list of your last 10 activities and a timer to turn on and off, that’s perfect, 5 stars automatically. I don’t need a historial, I don’t need a calendar, I don’t need anything! Just the timer(: I was thinking on taking the monthly subscription to download csv files cause I want to do my own stats, but now that I found another apps that works with the apple watch in the sense I described I’m thinking in using the others. I like toggle track, I used it multiplatform, I have been using this app for most than a year and it’s quite better that a notebook hahahaha, the work you’re doing is pretty well!! But the watch app is not good, in fact, it’s the worst app I’ve ever seen in the watch. Amd I know is not maybe so important for the income on the company, but I think it is for the image lf the company

Flowmadoro
I use this primarily to replace the pomodoro technique, where your focus flow is limited by a countdown timer. Evidence based study demonstrate a better learning/productivity style to be following an individual’s natural focus rhythms throughout the day. This app is great because it allows a running stopwatch to record how long I have been working, and then I can then use the pomodoro timer to set how long I want to actively rest based on the length of my focused work, which is between 20-25%. The app then compiles the total time I have been productive/rest/any other activity I want to record into a pie chart. I can then view them from a daily weekly or monthly manner. Simple but very effective, this app have everything I need without all the fluffs. Definitely recommend!!

Great cross-device integration, dependable
I’ve been using the free level for several years to assist with timekeeping for my solo law practice. I’ve never had a problem with reliability or stability (data loss or system outage). It syncs across my devices with little to no lag and the web summaries are great for pulling the data together. My only compliant is that the monthly summaries can’t be sorted by client and then tag, so I have to keep using typed descriptions for my time entries in order to get convenient, cumulative totals of each time category per client at the end of the month. Still, the descriptions autocomplete based on earlier entries so it isn’t that onerous. It also seems like there might be a solution to this in the monthly subscription service; the inconvenience just hasn’t warranted that level of expense for me.

Great flexibility and ease of use
This app has great flexibility. I use it to track my time for my own use. I’m able to track against projects and use the tag feature to identify the type of work I’m doing. This enables me to evaluate how much of my time I spend in meetings, administratively, and on real work. The only recommendation I would provide is that it would be nice to have a separate discretionary notes section for keeping track of notes related to the work performed. If I was truly billing out time I would want to toggle on and off this notes section at my discretion. But likely it would be kept for internal purposes. The application is easy to learn and master. I have used this with my teams for time tracking on shared projects and it works great.

Easy and smart
Great app. I’m an artist and this is great for tracking how much time I spend working on different projects. It’s super easy to use and adjust all the entries if you forget to start or stop a timer, which I do all the time. Nice looking and useful graphs to break down how much time spent on each task from week to week. I do wish it had was an easy way to see total amount of time spent on a task over all time, or at least yearly, as you can on the desktop version. Also in the app you only have quick access to the top three most used tasks, having all immediate accessible would be nice. My favorite little thing is that I work nights and it learned that automatically and doesn’t split it in to two different days at midnight. Would definitely recommend.

Finally! A simple and easy solution with an iOS widget!
I feel like I’ve tried every other time tracking option out there. The single greatest feature of this app is that I can use the iOS widget to start tracking time with a single click and no other information! I can go back at any point during or after the work to add details like project or adjust my starting time if I forgot to start the timer until partway through a project. Other features I’ve enjoyed so far include a calendar sync so you can see your time tracked in the app overlaid on your calendar/schedule to make sure you didn’t miss recording any appointments, and the weekly summary which makes billing or time clock input a breeze.

Free version is amazing for the solo worker
The fact that the app’s paid tiers are for teams makes the free version an incredible resource for people who work alone and just want to know where their time is going. For example, I’m an academic. My “clients” are teaching, research, and service. A “project” could be a course I’m teaching or an article I’m writing. And then tasks are more granular components of those projects, like “Lesson planning, week 8” or “Lit review.” It’s eye-opening, it’s a self-accountability tool, and honestly I think it helps me waste less time because I want to maximize the ratio of hours on the Toggl clock to hours spent in my office. Also, major props for the online syncing between app and website. That’s not easy to get right, and it’s been flawless for me in my time using the app.

Love it so far!
I’ve only been using this briefly, but it’s perfect for my needs. I’m a salary employee with little supervision over my time, so I wanted a way to keep track of my hours and productivity for my own peace of mind and paid time off. Basically, I open a time clock entry, type in the description indicating whether I’m at the climbing gym, at home, or out running errands, and create new tags or select old ones based on the task at hand, e.g. “emails,” “staffengagement,” “meeting,” etc. Then when I’m done for the day or the session, I just press “stop,” and it automatically records my hours for me. I can look at the day or the week, etc to see how many hours I’ve worked and what I did those days. I love it so far!

Better than Deltek
I’ve struggled with keeping a timesheet for years, largely because of the user interface (or lack thereof) from giants like Deltek and Ajera. The simple play/stop button on Toggl is exactly what I’ve been searching for, and the graphic UI is delightful to deal with daily. The program is installed on all my devices and is very fast to synchronize, Toggl’s reminders that I have been idle on the running time-clock are always timely (yes I DID forget to change my task), and the reporting is almost exactly how I need the data to transcribe into Ajera. So far I am only using the free version, but features like time rounding are catching my interest for a paid subscription. If only there was a way to import into our company’s system- then Toggle would be priceless!

Intuitive and helpful
I am really enjoying using the app Toggl. I will often look at an app and try it out for a week before I decide if I like it or not, based on my specific needs. I do not have to create a billable hours list, however I do like to track how much time I’m spending on different parts of my Job responsibilities. If my responsibilities start to get out of whack, I won’t up having very little free time! Toggl has been so helpful for this purpose. It has a very simple interface, works across multiple digital tools, and does just what I need without a bunch of fanfare. I recommend everyone try out their app to see if it fits their bill as well. Well worth the small learning curve.

Can’t live without Toggl!
Toggl has been my go-to time tracking program pretty much since starting my business in 2012…luckily I found it before wasting too much time using inferior time tracking resources. The app is a convenient, on-the-go alternative to the web-based and desktop versions. I can’t get through my workday without Toggl! The app is also super helpful when I forget to clock out of a job when I leave the house in a rush or when a work meeting pops up unexpectedly. Everyone has their phone handy all the time nowadays - the Toggl app ensures you’ll be able to track your time wherever you are. tldr: just try it and see for yourself - you won’t be disappointed

your most valuable resource
I tried every free time tracker app before starting my new job. This was the best one. easiest to use. Best reports. Most customizable. That was over 3 years ago. I still use it every day and so do my direct reports. It is so helpful to be able to see at a glance how we are investing our most valuable professional resource...our time. Also helps me with work-life balance. In my field, the work is never "done." I used to just stay at the office until I was too tired to do any more. Now, once I've spent my number of budgeted work hours for the day, I go home. This has paid huge dividends with my most valuable personal resource...my family.

Helps me defend my profitability.
There’s how much time you *think* you’ve spent on something, then there’s how much time you’ve *actually* spent on something. Having toggl reports is similar to having clean financials as it measures resource (time) allocation and helps me know what’s realistic for work moving forward. I track every part of my business activity and can tell you how much time the team has spent on sales, admin, education, and on every client individually. I use employee time reports to identify when teammates are getting stuck on things that shouldn’t take as long and overall reports to determine when monthly cost adjustments are needed for clients. Toggl rocks!

Don’t wait another minute to download!
My only regret is not downloading this app sooner. I love the flexibility of being able to use Toggl on both my desktop and my phone. Toggl makes tracking my consultant work super simple and efficient! If I forget to start the timer I can easily create an entry with a previous time/date. And best of all, the basic version is FREE! Thanks Toggl! (Note: I primarily use the web version on my desktop. I can’t speak entirely of the functionality of the app but so far the iOS version has synced without a hitch to the web version and the UI seems simple enough to navigate. Since I just joined Toggl, I can’t compare the app to previous versions but it works well for me.😊)

Glitchy and Unintuitive
I hate the Toggl app. I use it as a pomodoro timer and to trackwork for clients. The pomodoro timer is supposed to stop after 25 minutes and then reset the clock to 5 minutes. However, the timer always stops at 0. I have to make sure to watch the timer continually so I don’t work past the 25 minutes (as I won’t be notified). Another major issue results when trying to track time on client work with the Chrome app. On the Chrome app next to the start timer button there is a field for a comment but not for a project or client. Why in the world would you be able to put a comment for the timer that has nothing to do with a client or project? You have to start the timer, enter a pointless/optional comment, and then click the live timer to select a project or client. Why the extra step?? Why would a pointless comment outrank classifying the timer by project or client? Totally idiotic.

Great system, terrible app, unnecessary UI changes that remove functionality
This app might as well not work. You really can’t depend on it. They keep making UI changes that distinctly make the online version worse (it only shows one line of text instead of expanding). Effectively they are reducing the usability and logic of the system. Even in list view it doesn’t expand!?!? How could that have passed QA. Makes me wonder if the devs even use their app? Now, the latest issue is that the iOS app just doesn’t function. It has a task for hundreds of hours and it doesn’t allow me to stop or delete the task. This task doesn’t show up on the online version so I can’t delete it there either. Basically I cannot input into the system if I am not sitting at my desk on my computer - this reduces the consistency with which I can reliably use the app. The UI changes are change for the sake of change and only reduced the function since I can only see about 10 words at a time. You basically disregarded anyone that writes sentences instead of just bullet point tasks. I don’t understand why since those who write bullet points won’t expand the text box anyway. So you only removed a feature. As of now this app is unusable on iOS (this is on the latest ios and latest version of this app

Find more time for fun stuff
If you’re ready to stop wasting time and start being more efficient with your time use this app! I started using Toggl 10 years ago when I worked in a fast-paced corporate company. After using it for a week (tracking time spent on tasks and projects) I realized I was wasting 2 hours a week walking around talking to people. Two hours I could have been home. Recently, I’ve been running a business and I’ve found gaps in my “productive hours” where I wasn’t really doing anything. Since using Toggl I’ve seen a transformation in the intentionality of my time and the profits from my “productive time.”

I always come back to this one
I think I've tried every time tracker out there to track my project hours for work and freelancing gigs. Most other trackers can get really complicated with billing and requiring projects, but Toggl is only as complex as you need it. It's especially great for those impromptu meetings--no need to assign a project and client before it lets you track your time. I invariably end up with a few line items with a description and no project, but it's super easy to go back and edit those later. If you forget to track something, it's very convenient to add it in later to get a picture of the day and see if there are time gaps that need a time entry. I like the web interface but I really love the simplicity and visual design of the mobile app. I can quickly edit the time entries I messed up or forgot while I'm commuting, or stop a timer I accidentally left running all weekend. I can easily enter my hours for work either for the day or week, or if I've tagged items with process tags, I can easily see how long tasks take and better scope future projects.

Track my billable time to the minute
When beginning my first gig as a consultant I found tracking time between projects was difficult. Moving between tasks and projects made accounting for the time … time consuming. I found Toggl Track a couple years ago and have used it and even recommended to colleagues. I export time weekly into a csv, import to Excel where I have formulas and pivots that allow me to quickly enter time into my company’s ERM. Takes me less than 5 minutes to do my time sheet. The most difficult part was forming the habit to switch the task/project when changing directions throughout the day.

Not sure what’s wrong
I’ve used this app with great success for about a year now. Now, all of a sudden, it keeps resetting my API token and won’t let me sign in using my email and PW or with my Google account. I’m an independent consultant and have multiple projects going at once and need to have access to my hours and track time at a moment’s notice. If these glitches keep happening I will absolutely have to change to a different app. PS - while the free version will let you track total time for different projects, you can’t look back longer than about a month. So if you are tracking a multi-month project and need to submit daily hour logs, make sure you write down your hours before the 30 days is up or you’ll have to guess.

Can’t edit much
It’s an okay time tracking app. There are better ones out there that I use, but I wanted to use a separate one for a different project/part of life. It does basic time tracking and reporting. The reports are visual which is nice. The billable feature can’t easily be removed/turned off/hidden (this would be useful since I’m using it for “life” not work). My main gripe is that you can’t easily or quickly edit projects, tags, etc (in the iOS app). It either doesn’t work at all (tags?) or is cumbersome (projects: only by adding a new entry and then adding project from there). The interface is nice. But overall not too impressed, it’s too basic and biased. They need to add better features and options for the app.

Motivating and LIFE CHANGING!
As someone who has ADHD and autism, it’s super hard for me to focus. I’ve been using Toggl to organize and time track my life. This has LITERALLY changed my life. Because of Toggl, I have mentally trained myself to immediately stop the timer when I get distracted, and have even found the patterns of how I got distracted, and I have been able to change as a person. Toggl is FAR beyond just a time tracking device. I have used it as a reward system. It helped me start my art journey (which is developing into a career) It raised my self esteem, because I’ve been told so much in my life that I will never be normal, that I’m too distracted and weird. I’ve never felt so confident. Thank you Toggl.
