So far the app has been running pretty well just a couple of key features that should be included. When double spacing add the period. Add ability to flip what side the 123 emoji and backspace are on. Add ability to move thouse, I'd much rather have the backspace at the top right them next to the enter key. Add overlay to ignore input unless double tapped. That way you would have to double tap say emoji 123 back or enter etc. Update. Looks like the app hasn't been treated in awhile such a shame.
Purchased this after finding that I really had trouble typing on the stock keyboard....what a game-changer! I loved T9 on my old phones & this is even better & easier to use. Like the retro best & the themes; would like to have more color choices in the retro keyboard. When I had an issue, Rasmus was quick to get back to me. Would be nice to be able to delete "used" emojis & search for "new" ones. Other than the above, it's the best keyboard out there! 😉 Thanks Rasmus! Still loving this keyboard & couldn't type without it. Typing is fast & efficient! Have suggested more colors & themes; still hoping. Would gladly pay a few extra $! 😉
Updated review: I was contacted by the developer with a pretty condescending response to my review. I still stand behind my initial review. The keyboard is glitchy, not including the word “I’m”. That was just an example of the many words the keyboard failed to recognize. They suggested I don’t use the swiping feature, which is the reason I downloaded their app. If you don’t want someone to use a feature in an app that isn’t ready after testing, don’t release it. Original review: I grew up with Nokia phones so I missed using T9 and I was happy to come across this, until I started using it. IT'S SO GLITCHY. I couldn't swipe a simple sentence without having to backspace and search for the word several times. Why can't I type the word "I'm"? It kept inserting the word "In". So frustrating. This app is basically useless unless you like getting frustrated when you're trying to send a simple text.
This app has major potential. Love the layout and it works pretty well when tapping. Swiping seems like a big hit or miss a lot of the times though. Developers could improvement it by restricting the active dictionary to only one language so I don't get words from another language or ones that look made up. For example, I swiped "tickets" and instead I get "tickell" even though ive removed this word multiple times. As others have mentioned predictive text bar before typing would be awesome. More themes would also be nice. I typed this review using the keyboard. The app is pretty expensive for something that requires this amount of improvement. The Send button in Contact Support doesnt work so you cant even send suggestions
AWESOME keyboard. I am super grateful this was created — back before I had a phone with a QWERTY keyboard, I loved typing with T9. I am in a phase of life where I am simplifying my iPhone and having a nine dial keyboard is my new favorite feature of my iPhone. If there is an opportunity to add tweaks, I do wish there was the option to: 1) display the 9 dial keys with numbers on them, like the traditional cellphone 2) the keys on the right side of the keyboard (emojis, numbers, enter, backspace) could be moved to the bottom of the keyboard, to the left, or consolidated into one button Otherwise, my suggestions are completely minute — I love, LOVE this keyboard. 🥰
Do the tutorial, it's worth the few minuets. Some of the customizations like adding words, changing the order of suggested words, and split words takes a little practice. I like how easy it is to switch typing styles between tap and swipe as well as other formatting and navigation options. There is also a manual mode if you want to go super old-school and use multi taps for each letter; I would like if I could adjust the timing in this mode. Overall, I am very satisfled with this application and the money spent.
Update: after two weeks of use I love this app even more. Delve into all the elegant tips and tricks and it becomes better still. If i’m sitting still with both thumbtips at the ready i’ll still use the full keyboard, but in all other instances the T9 one is way better. If you miss the speed of typing with T9, this is the app you want. A few days of forcing myself to reacquaint and I’m able to pump out text faster than I ever could on a full keyboard. Used it for this review! The only knock I’ll give it is the keyboard isn’t very pretty against a white/light background iMessage app. Other than that, it stores/remembers words, has many additional functions you don’t get with the old school T9, and has tutorials directly in the app on how to leverage these additional capabilities.
I miss T9 and typing as fast as I used to on my old phones. However, I am using this app on a personal phone, and it is not available as a keyboard in the iPhone Messages app, which I think is a pretty big downer. I don't really use the swipe feature, and it works well, but I just have a few nitpicks like how when you go to the emoji keyboard it only lets you type one emoji before going back to the number pad keyboard. This would be fine if there was a way to change that in the settings maybe? But it's just a small complaint. It not working in messages is a huge bummer though as that is mainly what I wanted it for.
I got this keyboard today and it is pretty good in my opinion. Still getting used to it, I got it because phone typing has been hard so I wanted a change. My only issue is that auto capitalization is on and there is no way to turn it off, so that is something I hope to be added. (another plus is that it has my uncommon last name in it)
Since it's release, this has been continuously improving through the years. The range of features it now has is truly spot on. Teaching it new words, important for bilinguals, has been easy to do as well. Also incorporates Emoji so one doesn't need to switch keyboards mid typing. Super nifty to have it resizable too. Makes 1 handed typing on large screens a breeze.
If you’re on the fence about this, I would say just get it. It’s worked flawlessly for me, and it does exactly what I hoped it would do. I don’t think it’s any slower than the regular keyboard, and with bigger keys, there are fewer mistypes. Controls are intuitive and easy to learn, making it well worth four bucks.
This is perfect. Perhaps not the best for swiping but the tap-only T9 implementation is perfect. Needed an easy one handed keyboard while holding my baby and searched for something like this. So happy I did. And a bonus for allowing us to resize the layout so I can right justify it. I don't understand any reviews less than 4 stars. Great app priced right.
I never really used this keyboard format..as I was a Blackberry and Palm guy early on. It's a very nice layout but if your not used to doing T9 it can be frustrating. If I'm going to give a shot to use as a alternative, this would be the best keyboard to accomplish it on. Maybe a option for a regular keyboard when the T9 gets frustrating to use as a breather.
I bought an paid for it, it worked decently the first day, (but there’s no way to input it in your setting for the app to take over, you have to do it manually on EACH message on every messaging/texting app) the second day, I noticed it kept “glitching” between my original key board an this one (even when i was messaging someone back) while i was texting, and the third day, it was doin the same with glitching in an out, then it completely quit working... even if it was free,it still wouldn’t be worth it.
Because I cannot choose different layouts, I am still reaching across the screen for keys I use often, while keys such as emojis and things that I don’t need are easily reachable. I has hoped this would work well to solve my issues with the tiny keyboard but making the T9 keypad smaller just to reach won’t help. I might request a refund if there isn’t a solution.
Does exactly what it says and does exactly what I need it to, with some fun added tricks you can use to make typing more seamless. All functions explained in the tutorials given, I'm looking forward to getting as good at t9 as I was when I was younger. Also I like the developers sassy responses lol.
As someone who grew up with T9 texting, I find this easy to adapt to when using my phone one-handed. (I have a 14 pro max) switching from QWERTY to t9 isn’t an issue either. Two handed typing for longer messages and t9 for one handed short responses. That’s what I love and wish it came stock in iOS

BUT take the time to WATCH TUTORIAL finally got an iPhone thanks to this app and the fact that iPhone began allowing 3rd party keyboards. * I loved and own an iPad iPod but not an iphone, only reason because it didn't have a t9 keyboard. Well now that it does its time for me to buy one yay!
This app makes typing with T9 very easy and I love this app. I miss the tactile clicks from my razor cell and I think that’s why I’ve decided to not continue with this keyboard, I liked it a lot and I suggest everyone test it out. Much praise to the developer for this as it is the best in its class!
Hello all, this app works GREAT, IF, you know how to spell the word. Its very user friendly and quick to use. I have a iPhone but was really quick at t9 back in the day. Its worth the price and I can easily text without looking. It getting used to my speaking style is a little slow but other than that I have no complaints.
I’ve used this off and on over the last few years and I really like it! Lately I’ve been using it more consistently and it’s gotten even better as I've gotten more used to it. Many thanks to the developer, it's a great product.
I was excited to see today that the app had been updated to fix some "quirks with iOS 12." I was dismayed to discover that it's STILL not possible to delete words from the dictionary. Just try it - and notice that when you type the key sequence again, the word is still there. Also try this fun experiment: With the English dictionary, type the word "composition" and see what happens. You're welcome.
This app brings back the fun and nostalgia of typing messages on the number pad on phones from the early 2000’s. This has quickly become my go-to keyboard for texting friends. Highly recommend!
In typing this review with the app right now. works like a charm. Like real t9 expect it to take some time to learn how you type. It's also definitely way harder doing t9 on b virtual keyboard. The lack of physical keys means you have to look more. Nice job developer dude.
I'm writing this with t9, and while it's definitely slower than qwerty, i haven't had to fight with fixing a typo yet. If you're dealing with big hands and a small screen, give this a try.
I absolutely love this keyboard. Very easy to use too 👍🏻. Bravo, guys..... But I do have a suggestion, why don't you guys have some most used predictions words on top already before anyone can type a word or words? And the space bar, could use some shortcuts
Wish there was a way to customize settings to ones liking and maybe an easier way to switch from T9 to QWERTY and vice versa. Is there anyway you can make the delete button bigger and a little further from the other keys so the other keys are not accidentally hit?
I just wish it had more options for themes other than basic colors and it would be perfect. I mean I spent money to get the app. Give us more colors or an option to add our own background.
I have been waiting for a keyboard like this for years! It seems like they thought of everything to make this keyboard user friendly. The only issue I've come across is I cant figure out where the parenthesis are.
hello, I do not like that the keyboard does not respond quickly sometimes, I'm even writing and it stays slow and does not respond and spend approximately 6 seconds on that, it does not give the option to eliminate the words that do not interest me that appear in the dictionary of the keyboard, should also give option to automatically add new words from the first writing. please fix that and do an update with new and better things. Thank you
I hope someday, this keyboard have a more native looking theme. If the dev needs a reference to base it off of, try adding the Simplified Chinese keyboard and set it to 10key mode. On another note, there should be a way to select text with the cursor shortcut.
I was suprised to find This is the only T9 Keyboard on the AppStore. The auto caps is finicky, and the layout is odd. Theres no haptics either, something I would have hoped for in a classic keyboard. I find that the autocomplete is hit or miss, and the manual mode is a far stretch from the early days. Many times, it cuts out before I can change a character, and Sentences Look like This.
Not as versitile as the full keyboard but it works well and I'm sure I'll get quick with it the more I use it. The shortcuts make it very likeable and keep me trying with it versus going back to the stock keyboard.
I had some minor bugs. After receiving an advice frome developer, it works again like charm. Problem was with iOS 14.4,but developer solved an issue lightning fast!
I enjoy this keyboard very much but I’m a righty and the set up is for lefty’s. It would be cool to see an option where the keyboard was flipped to make typing easier for righty’s like myself. Other than that, this keyboard is great.
Type nine is one of my top two apps! It works flawlessly. No more hunt and peck on a tiny keyboard. Prediction is top notch! I've been using for a couple years now.
I've been looking for T9 keyboard for years and this is a great start. I still do a lot of correcting but I love not having to Swipe ALL characters and I like the handy shortcuts for erasing and capitalizing, etc. Thanks!
I'm looking for something I would need to type a button 2-3 times for. This isn't it. Shouldn't cost money for something I can pretty much do for free. Also, looking at the other reviews, the developer is definitely out of pocket and unprofessional, seems like a kid. Can't wait to see the response I'm gonna get 😆
This app is pretty much perfect! For years I have missed T9. Now that I am used to a regular keyboard it has been very hard to switch back to T9 but if you hate regular keyboards and liked T9 this is great!
At first I thought this was just a t9 keyboard, but it’s really more than that. Multi language capability, swype, custom keyboard size, etc. This is a dose of nostalgia plus smartphone practicality. Fantastic :)
This APP is horrible! Firstly it doesn’t work I would type like you would in a Nokia phone, and I try to write “make” and it couldn’t even do that! Secondly I paid the $3.99 for nothing to delete in literally 3 minutes. Thirdly if your looking for T9 keyboard go anywhere else don’t waste your time especially your money.
