My wall connector kept reducing the charging speed and I didn’t know why, I googled some info and found that the wall connector could be malfunctioning or the temperature could be too hot. Unfortunately the Tesla app shows very limited information about the wall connector, and temperature is one of them. I found this app and it showed the temperature at 10 degrees from its operating limits in my garage. With this knowledge I lowered the temperature in my garage and the wall connector charging speed increased.
This charger is very handy. But the app that monitors the charger is not all that great. Ever since I installed this charger it automatically starts charging my Tesla even though it’s not supposed to start charging til it’s specified time. I have to stop it every few minutes since the price of electricity where I’m at is quite expensive. (CA). If the app had the options to schedule the charger when it should start and stop charging that would be very helpful. Cause I didn’t have this issue with the original 32amp charger. So if you can make these modifications on this app. That would be very helpful.
Tesla owners often install a Tesla wall charger. It’s well-built, and well-controlled from the Tesla app when charging a Tesla. What about when charging other cars? Tesla offers no way to monitor their wall connector (charger) when charging non-Teslas. This app does, and it works well! The only minor glitch is not seeing my charger on my network, so I manually entered its IP address even though it’s preprogrammed name on the network is TeslaWallConnector_XXXXX.
The App is not as intuitive as I would like. Fortunately I am tech savvy but no expert. Better explanation and videos would help. I connected and ended up using the app to update the firmware for the charger. However, I shouldn’t have to in my opinion this needs to be more plug and play. The charger once connected to the internet should search, download and install the latest firmware for the charger. Most chargers are for home use and should not require the app. Honestly the Tesla app should manage the car and the charging station associated with the car.
The most detailed information concerning my Tesla Universal Wall Connector as it charges my Cadillac Lyriq. Voltages, Amperage’s, temperatures, you name it, it shows it. Offers a paid version (which I purchased) that offers even more features. Unfortunately only available from the App Store at the time of this review. Hopefully Play Store availability soon.
Great app that provides functionality Tesla Should
The Firmware tracker is a great addition. My wall charger was stuck on one of the ancient original firmwares and the app let me know I'm many versions behind so I could update it. Some of the nerdier stats and temperature readings are also nice for peace of mind especially when charging in very high heat areas like Texas right now.
This app is very useful and you do not need to buy the premium option which I did as it was cost effective. There are some additional things I would like to see which I suggested to the developer which would be easy enough to get. Overall I like it and it’s simple.
Loving this app and all of the real time data around the wall connector that I can see. I have two wall connectors and can seamlessly switch between the two. Also appreciated the ability to backup my Wall Connector QR Code/Setup details. I’ve paid for the premium features.
I like the app, even though the info is pretty basic, but that’s because wall connector only have basic stats available. What I really like to see is be able to access charging info while away from home. I know it’s possible to port forward but wish it could be easier with an in app solution.
I was looking at this app to show me my per session details, and all it shows for lifetime is a cumulative total. This is unclear in the app and misleading that you can download lifetime data (detailed). This doesn’t help you determine which months you charged more and which months you didn’t. You also cannot find out how much from year to year you charged because it is only one line of exported data for lifetime stats.
My Tesla Wall Charger is connected to my home WiFi. How can I view data in this app while on my home WiFi network, without having to manually force Wall Charger to broadcast IP address and then switch to the Wall Charger network (which only lasts 15 minutes at a time?)
This app is misleading. It should only be a paid app not free with in-app purchases. The “free” part of the app does nothing. You have to buy the premium version to see anything. I feel like I’ve been lied to. If they had a feature set that did anything it might be worth it. Also, it looks like everything they are offering for paid will eventually be part of the main Tesla app which is already being tested in Europe. Don’t waste your time here.
A better fit for the data and charts, that is all info fitting on one page and more charts on one page, would be nice. Perhaps adjustable zoom to do that.
This app is absolutely amazing at providing users with all the technical information they could ever want from their Gen 3 Wall Connector. Happily paid for the premium features just to support the developer.
Do not buy tesla wall connector for non tesla ev cars. The j1172 connector interface on app is one of the worst i have seen. Tesla only makes the in car interface good and dont care about the j1172 charger. You cant even schedule the charging. Installing took 1 hr Wifi signal keeps getting disconnected on app
This worked fine for months. The update today made the app crash at opening. I tried uninstalling and redownloading. That worked, until I tried to restore my purchase. Now I'm in the same loop. Paid $9 and can't use the app.
I’ve downloaded a lot of apps for iPhone since 2008. The overwhelming majority of them are very intuitive and easy to use. This app is an absolute train wreck. I won’t go into details, but I will say I wish I hadn’t wasted time and mental energy on it. Try harder developers.
It scans my network and can not find three tesla wall connectors. I have to find their ip address and manually add them and if the dynamic ip of wall chargers change than redo allover.
I have had this charger since the end of April and have problems hooking up. Tried to get some help and nobody has gotten back to me with my problem and when I say nobody I mean nobody. It’s a nice charger but that’s as far as I go. No phone numbers it says email with your problem and we will get back to you well after 4 or 5 E-mail I gave up now if I want to get any kind of support FORGET IT your on your own Update 3-19-2024 I have this app up and running sometimes but there is a lot of no connections come back at a later time and it is running. It’s not my WiFi because I have other apps hooked up within a couple of feet that never looses connection
