The Wi-Fi on my Grill 702C does not even work. It’ll go only so far with the app and waiting to connect to the Internet and it won’t connect. It’ll find the grill. It’ll find my routers. It’ll do everything but connect to their network or whatever is happening that’s wrong and I don’t think they even know what’s happening and they told me be fixed by the end of May that was two months ago then they told me you’ll be the end of this month and that’s June 22 today but geez Sommer will be over by the time they get it fixed and all I keep getting is a promise of it getting fixed, it’s stupid
Works mostly, but temperature display not accurate
The temperature setting works immediately, meaning that you can immediately set the temperature of the grill with the app. However, the app lags behind the actual temperatures, so in order to know what the probe temperatures and grill temperatures are, you have to look at the screen on the grill itself to be accurate. As a general note about the grill, the temperature probes do not seem to measure the temperature accurately when only a portion of the probe is inserted into the meat, such as a hamburger. I have to use an old school meat thermometer to check the temp. If you watch it closely, the results are always very good.
I just bought this new grill and one of the main reasons for this model was for the WIFI feature. I’m pretty tech savvy, and it took me 40 minutes of troubleshooting to get it to connect to my grill, and then only to find out that it loses connection fairly easily. I have a nice router and high speed internet that I can get 2 houses down at a BBQ, so that’s not the problem.. and it says you can connect this grill via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, but if you turn off your Bluetooth, the app tells you you have to enable your Bluetooth in order for the Wi-Fi to work. Makes no sense .I hope Zee grills gets this app fixed soon..
Before this I had a green mountain grill. They also have an app and it worked perfectly every time so I didn’t worry when my husband wanted to try zgrills. Their app is garbage, can’t get it to work 9 times out of 10 when it does happen to work it’s great but when you know out the gate you’re probably going to end up throwing your phone in frustration after an hour of trying maybe there’s something that needs to be fixed. Looking at you zgrills.
I have never had something with WiFi option not connect. First, you need to disable your 5G, then they say the WPA3 needs to be disabled. That’s a bunch of hoops that I don’t think should be occurring in this age of technology. Either fix the app to accommodate tech, or upgrade the wifi on the grills, or both. We were looking forward to using wifi on our grill, now we literally cannot.
Long story short, the app simply doesn’t work. Sometimes you’ll get a week where it wants to function, but even then the UI is so bad, you won’t want to use it beyond checking your set temp. As others have stated, you’re better off buying a smart temperature probe and just manually change your grills temp. Sad part is, the grill itself is fantastic. Just wish this app was half as good as the hardware 🤷
I got it to work once. Then it would constantly disconnect from my wifi. And now, I can’t even get it to connect to the app at all despite following all directions and support suggestions. Useless. You’d think the engineers and devs would put a little more time into their app if they want to compete with the other big brands… this one falls short.
I can look at the temp of meat and can adjust from anywhere where I have cell service. It need improvement it should have alarm when hit your temp. It hard to set up at first but when set up works fine.
App works as good as their customer service. Went to go smoke a brisket on super smoke mode. Only way to adjust temp on super smoke mode from 160 degrees is through their lousy app that doesn’t work at all. I wish I just bought a treager and save a headache dealing with customer service for 2 months now
I would give this app a negative 5 stars if possible. It will trick you into giving it full access to your phone and you will not be able to use it unless you give access it your location. Skip this and just simply visually monitor your temperature probe.
An hour and a half ago I changed the grill temp from 275 (starting temp) to 225 (temp I’m smoking at). The app still hasn’t updated, and refreshing does nothing. There are 2 versions of the app. Neither works. It’s actually pretty impressive to produce two separate apps that both don’t work.
If I could give it a ZERO rating I would. Every (not exaggerating) time that I go to use the app I have to re-login. Not the worst feature I’ll admit. The bad part is that EVERY (not exaggerating) time I use it, I have to spend time reconnecting the app to the grill. Most of the time I have to reinstall the app. It’s deplorable
The app connects to my grill but it will not display current temperature of the smoker or the temperature of the probes no matter how long I wait or how many times I close the app and restart it. So don’t waste your money getting the upgraded smoker with wifi
I’ve used a friends traeger and their app is far superior. How do I change my weather temp from C to F? Why can’t I set a notification on the probes for a certain temperature? Or any notifications at all!? Doesn’t make much sense to me but, man I love my smoker.
The Z grills are fantastic pellet grills but there app is horrible. Every few days it signs you out and losses the settings. Then with each update there is a chance to have to re register and setup everything again.
App doesn’t sync with the smoker well. Temperature report from the smoker is often out of sync with app. Also why do we keep having to log on? Its a freaking grill, not my bank account.
Why do I have to log into a server to see my grill temps what is on my Wi-Fi? App does not work. Server error can not log in. Please Fox this app and allow us to use the app on our Wi-Fi without logging into some server Tracking our use.
Apps shows temps that are higher than on the actual grill for some reason also does not notify when probes hit certain temp. Need more effort of this app
The app barely works. Often buttons won’t push, signal won’t be picked up or temp won’t read. If you bought the WiFi version on purpose, this app basically negates it. Please Z Grills, update this app.
The app worked the first time I used my grill, after that only once and it took forever to update the grill temps. About all it’s really good for is, if it connects, you can turn the grill off.
Warning if you can’t force your phone to be on 2.4ghz during pairing, you won’t have a wireless smoker. App is pretty useless with notifications. Also it’s connecting to non-US servers 😳
I purchased this grill understanding the App was not great. This app is awful and useless. The temp it provides is never accurate and there is very little functionality. Please upgrade this app.
It uses the same logo, but it didn’t work with my Z Grill thermometer. Then I find out that ‘Z Grill TM’ is the real app’s name. That one worked great.
I love the smoker itself. It does a great job heat is pretty constant and gives plenty of room. The WiFi is one of the worst as well as the app. Every time you phone goes off you have to put in username and password it’s to the point I don’t use it. So all in all Smoker good, app and WiFi not worth the money.
The app is non-functional and support is non-existent
The app is garbage. I’ve owned the 11002-B Multitasker with Wi-Fi for 3 weeks an have yet been able to successfully pair the smoker with the app. I can’t set the timer, monitor or adjust the temp through the app. I’ve called and emailed, Z-Grills support asking for help and have yet to receive a response from anyone. I’d tell anyone evaluating any Wi-Fi enabled smoker, to look elsewhere and not choose a Z-Grills smoker.
After unsuccessfully trying the QR code that came with my thermometer, I searched and found this app. A complete mess. First it asked me to create an account then it tried to access my wifi. All this for a Bluetooth app for a wireless BBQ thermometer that would not connect to Bluetooth.
The Z Grills app works great for me on the Multitasker 11002B. I have a strong signal where my grill sits and I can watch the temps on my phone in the house.
